The 49-day worshiping ceremony ( Sino-Vietnamese : Chung inter) is a form of belief, at the same time it is also a very important ceremony for the death of the survivor. This is an opening ceremony 49 days after the death.
This custom is based on the Vietnamese Buddhist theory : Soul after death has to go through 7 judgments, each lasting 7 days. Then the soul has to go through a large power in the underworld, after 7 weeks the soul will be saved. This is the time to bring the dead's soul to the Buddha's door.
