Introducing the Primordial Zen method of the Buddha.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.

Nthe failure of Lai Meditation in the Pali Sutta, or "Practicing Zen, a healthy, clear way of life, a way of upbringing", is a study that only mentions Tathagata Meditation without referring to the Founder Meditation Here we limit the Pali Sutta Sutta without mentioning the Abhidhamma-Pàli, with the intention of introducing to the Buddhists a clear understanding of what Zen is originally, first of all through the experience of Buddha's body when he was not enlightened, when he was enlightened, during the 45-year sermon and finally when he entered Nirvana. Next we introduce the method of meditation through his teachings in the sutras, focusing on introducing the method of meditation as a healthy and pure lifestyle, an upward educational method that can be applied immediately current life, is both a process leading to liberation and enlightenment. Finally, we would like to introduce a Meditation Method: Anapànasati Method, reciting the breath in and out of breath, a primordial Zen taught by the Buddha, a Method of Contemplation, and the Second Wisdom that everyone can practice, right now in the present to myself.

All of our presentations clearly state the origin, from which Pali Sutta Pitaka, to prove that it is the teachings of the Buddha, not the imagination of the speakers, and help those who are If you want to study the material yourself, you can trace it to the exact origin.

First of all, we would like to present:  Buddha's personal experiences in Zen .

Meditation is a discipline taught by the Buddha, due to his personal practice, no one taught him, and it was his experience that helped him to build a method of liberation and enlightenment. enlightenment, very unique, wonderful; That is the method: About Tue.

The Buddha's first Zen experience was when he went to study with Alara Kalama on the Non-possession-of-Origin method, and studied with Uddaka Ramaputta on the Phi-Phi-Phi-Phi method. Two methods of pagan meditation, he studied, he practiced, he witnessed and was certified by two non-teachers who were real witness.

But he realized that the two disciplines did not bring liberation, so he left. The two pagan masters confirmed: "The dharma that I am self-aware, self-realized, self-attaining and proclaiming, it is the sage of self-knowledge, self-realization, self-attainment and residence. proof, self-attainment and dwell, that law I am self-aware, self-realized, self-attaining and proclaiming, the Dharma that I know, the dharma that the sage knows; the Dharma that the sage knows, the Dharma itself how, sage is like that; sage like, I'm like that. Now come here, sage! Let's take care of this congregation ". Thus, the Male-stilts, Alara Kalama is my guru, put me, his disciple on his level, and worship me with the highest devotion. The Male-stilts, then we think to ourselves: "This Dharma is not directed to the cup, not to the cup, not towards cessation, not towards peace, not towards wisdom, not toward enlightenment, not to Nirvana, but only to attain the attainment of Non-possessive origin. Thus, the Male-stilts, I do not respect this Dharma, and reject it, I leave "(Trung Kinh Kinh ).

The second experience is the experience of the Buddha when he was not enlightened, he wanted to eradicate sex, but because he had not practiced Zen, he could not eradicate craving, as the following sutta states: "Hey Mahànàma, long ago, when I was still a Bodhisattva, not yet able to witness Bodhi, not yet attained Right Livility, Mindfulness, I cleverly saw as true right view: "The sex, the less, more suffering, more brain, the danger more dangerous here. "Although we are smart to see with the true view as such, but We have not yet witnessed the bliss caused by sexual separation, the unwholesome Dharma, or any other noble one, and thus, I know that we have not yet been dominated by sex, and, Mahànàma, when I cleverly see with true consensus: "The sex, less fun, much suffering, much brain, and the danger here more." And we witness the bliss caused by sexual separation, real good, legal,or a more noble dharma, then we are free from the dominant desires "(Zhongzheng Jing )

This experience makes it clear that only the true pleasures of sex are more or less unpleasant, not enough, there must be meditation, that is, the joy of being born in order to be able to recover and eradicate sex. Because of this experience, the Buddha later meditated to regain his senses and established the Precepts of Wisdom, including Meditation, to bring him to enlightenment.

The third experience of Gotama Sa-sa was that when he had practiced six years of asceticism, he realized that asceticism did not lead people to enlightenment and liberation, so he renounced asceticism and went to Uruvela.

Here, he found a lovely place, with a clear river flowing close, a comfortable forest, a convenient residence to practice Zen. He chose that location and decided to sit down there to practice. But three examples have arisen, helping him understand how to practice Zen in order to be effective.

In the first example, a person holding a fire took a piece of tree soaked full of sap, placed in water, and rubbed with a fire tool to ignite the fire. Of course, under this condition, fire could not be ignited.

The second example is the same as above, this time the tree is still wet, still full of sap, but picked out of the water, if rubbed with a fire engine to ignite the fire, of course under this condition. can not be pinched.

The third example refers to a tree without sap, removed from the water, and placed on dry soil. If this person rubbed the tree with a fire extinguisher, a time for fire could appear. This example introduces Sa-Gotama, who clearly wants to practice Zen, for the time when he has to be divorced or detached from the Dharma to hope to see the result as stated in the Central Sutta:

"Hey Aggivessana, the Brahman or Brahmin Venerables who live without renunciation of bodily desires, inwardly have not been cleverly eradicated, have not been cleverly alleviated, the false Buddhas or Brahman -la-subject he can not be Supreme Chief sensory perception ... If false religion Sa-Brahmin or Brahmin who lives the detachment of desire for the body ... and the interior has been cleverly eradicated , has been cleverly alleviated, the venerable Sa-Mon or Ba-la-Mon can witness the knowledge of Supreme Chief Justice Chief Justice Awareness ".

Three examples above have introduced Sa-keeper Gotama said that if you want to meditate for results, you must divorce, detachment with akusala. Therefore, later on when teaching about Zen practice, the prerequisite of practicing Zen must do is "detachment of sex, detachment of akusala". Still passionate about exercise, also doing unwholesome deeds, it is impossible to meditate for results. These precious experiences were applied by the Buddha when he taught Zen.

Another experience for Gotama: After 6 years of ascetic training to no avail, he wondered if there was another way to lead him to enlightenment, and the following are the notes of Him when he was looking for a different path, as stated in the Great Sutta, Saccaka:

"But we with such austerity still cannot witness the noble person, the vengeance and enlightenment worthy of the Saints. Or is there any other way to enlightenment?"

"Hey Aggivessana, then I thought the following:" I know, while my father, the Shakyamuni family, was plowing and I was sitting under the shade of a matchstick tree. I ly sex detachment France, evidence and residence First Meditation, a state of bliss due to divorce being born, there are four, when such an stay I think: "Following this path can lead to enlightenment reasonable "? And here Aggivessana, following that idea, this consciousness arose in Me: "This is the way to enlightenment".

With this experience, Gotama Sa-subject practice Meditation meditation First meditation, second meditation, third meditation, fourth meditation. Then comes the Fourth Meditation, he is afferent and attains three vidyas, and finally, he attains enlightenment, attains the Holy result, becomes enlightened.

We record the following experiences of Zen practice, his witness as recorded in the Sutta of Saccaka:

"And this Aggivessana, after eating the raw food and getting the power back, I divorced from the unwholesome Dharma, the first one, and the first meditation, a state of bliss caused by the cup of sexual birth has a range of four. Hey Aggivessana, like so the sensation arises in Ta, exists but does not dominate My mind.Equise and detachment, proof and residence of the Second Meditation, a state of bliss due to birth, no range, no inner peace. Aggivessana, so the sensation arises in Me, exists but does not dominate My mind, Ly bliss of discharge, mindfulness of awareness, feeling the bliss that the Saints call discharge, Third Meditation, Aggivessana, thus the sensation arises in Me, exists but does not control My mind, Discharge the concept of equanimity of suffering, eliminating the joy of having felt before, the certificate of residence and the fourth Meditation, of no suffering , discharge pure thoughts, Hey Aggivessana, such optimism arises in Ta ".

Then, with the calm mind in that fourth Zen, Sa-keeper Gotama turned his mind to Tuc minh minh, to Thien tam minh minh, to Lau to take advantage of:

"Thanks to such understanding, My mind is free of illicit sex, from illegal property, from ignorance, illegitimate. For such liberation itself, arose the understanding:" I have liberated. " knew: "Birth is done, virtue has become. What to do did. There is no more going back to this state. "Hey Aggivessana, that is the Third Enlightenment, I have already witnessed in the last wing, the ignorance that kills the light of birth; essential needs "(Trung Kinh Kinh).

After Buddha attained enlightenment, his special way of life as it happened in the Pali Sutta Pitaka was the discourse of salvation, and the practice of liberation. Truly here, the two most dynamic images of Buddhist masters are Dharma teaching and Zen practice. In the daily life of the Buddha, in addition to the responsibility of giving Dharma teachings, the Buddha completely lives the life of Zen. In the morning, begging for alms and having finished breakfast, he goes deep into the mountains and forests to practice Zen. In the afternoon, the Buddha often got up from the Zen monk to stand up, ie in the afternoon he also practiced Zen. At night, in a soup he went on a business trip. In the second watch, he went to do business and meditate. Third watch, he lay with the lion lying. He got up, went on a walking meditation and meditated. When he entered nirvana, he also came from the scene of meditation and entered nirvana: "The fourth Meditation Execution, He entered the Third Meditation Meditation. The Third Meditation Exhortation, He entered the Second Meditation Meditation. The Second Meditation, He entered the First Meditation Meditation. The First Meditation Meditation, He entered the Second Meditation. Second, he entered the third meditation. Exported the third meditation, he entered the fourth meditation. the fourth meditation, he immediately passed away "(Trung Bo Kinh Kinh).

And we often see these two advice of the Buddha to the monks, who are ordained:  "Monks, when you gather, there are usually two things to do: one is to talk about the Buddha Dharma, the other two. is to keep the silence of a saint "(Chinese Sutta).  And the silence of the saints here is to meditate.

The second teaching is the Buddha's Zen advice:  "Monks, these are stumps, these are empty houses. Hey monks, practice Zen, don't be distracted, don't have born of remorse later. This is my precept to you . And when about to Nirvana, the Buddha repeated the life of a Billion-stilts victory is meditation, meditation:

"And Ananda, in the Male-stilts, contemplate the body on the body ... contemplate on sensations .... contemplate on mind ... contemplate on things, enthusiasm, awareness, mindfulness, photography So this Ananda, Female-on stilts is a lamp for yourself, yourself like yourself, not like a different person, using Dharma as a lamp, using Dharma as a place rely on, do not rely on anything else. These people, Ananda, are the ultimate in the Male-stilts of Ta "(School of Sutta, Sutta of the Great Eight Nirvana).

This teaching of the Buddha is a meditation advice and practice Zen.

For a guru, before becoming a guru, he had many experiences in Zen, and discovered the Path of Tue to lead to enlightenment and liberation, in which Zen occupies an important position, until the Dao and enter Nirvana, which is the personal experience of meditation. Moreover, from the time of enlightenment to the time of the passing of Nirvana, he lived a daily life of practicing Zen in order to be present at the abode and torture of his disciples, until during the 45 years of preaching, teaching His is the practice of Zen. By the time close to entering Nirvana, the last encouragement for the disciples is also the words to encourage meditation. For such a guru, the practice of Zen naturally occupies a position of both priority and importance in the scriptures he teaches.

So now, let's find out what Zen is, and what is the practice of Zen? The word Zen from the Pali word is Jhàna, from the Sanskrit word Dhyàna, is defined by Buddhaghosa as follows: "Aramman, ùpanijjhànato paccanika - jhàpanato and jhapam" ( Thanh Tinh Dao, 150 ) means meditation on objects selected, and due to burning up the opposites should be called Zen. Thus, Zen means choosing an object and meditating on that object, making it possible to burn and burn opposing phenomena, here, only for the hindrances and disturbing fetters.

The definition of Zen in the sutras is often inserted into the context of About Tue, and refers to Jhana, which is Zen. These definitions have lots of details and examples, and can be analyzed into the following stages:

- Preparing to meditate
- Eliminate the hindrances
- Preliminary meditation until the Fourth Jhana

A. Preparing to meditate

After the attainment of the Aggregates, that is, the attainment of upholding the grounds, moderation in eating, paying attention to alertness, mindfulness, and enlightenment, the practitioner: "Choose a solitary, solitary place like a forest, a tree stump , ravines, caves, graveyards, groves, outdoors, haystacks. After qifu gangui and finished eating, he sat cross-legged, straight back and recite the memory in front of him. Chinese Central Business ).

In the preparation for meditation, we see clearly that practitioners must keep the precepts, that is, to live a clean and healthy life, to be able to practice Zen. In other words, the practice of Zen is only effective when the life of Zen is to be separated from sex, to be akusala. Those who eat a lot, sleep a lot, of course have difficulty practicing Zen; those who are passionate about sex, are passionate about brewing wine, doing unwholesome physical deeds, words, and mind, of course, it is difficult to practice Zen. In short, Zen people have to live a healthy and clean life, in order to practice Zen results.

B. The paragraph except the slope

"He renounced craving for life, lived with the mind to escape craving, washed the mind away from greed. Abandoned hatred, he lived with the mind without hatred, compassion and kindness, compassion and compassion for all beings. To wash away the mind of anger, to give up on kissing, to be mindful of light, to be mindful of mindfulness, to wash mind, to be conscientious of renunciation. , inner calm, washing the mind all the way to regret. Giving up the suspicion, he escaped from doubt, not hesitating, washing the mind out of suspicion for the good faith "(Kinh Trung Bo) ).

This year has the ability to defile the mind and weaken the mind, so it must be eliminated to be lucid and to develop intelligence. In the Sangha Sutta, the Buddha clearly stated the methods that help eliminate the five hindrances:

"General impure, the Male-stilts, as if the intention, the time of sex is not being born and the sex of birth has been eradicated ... From the mind of liberation, monks, as if the Italy, the yard was not born not being run, and the yard was born to take ... The essential effort, this Male-stilts, kissing pistil hypnosis unborn being not being kicked, kissing bassy hypnosis was born the end ... The mind is pure, only the Male-stilts, suspected or not being born, or suspicion or was being born ".

"Monks, like a indebted person, immediately do professions, these professions prosper, he not only pays his old debt, he also has extra money to nourish his wife. He thought," I am I used to be in debt before so I do jobs. These professions are prosperous, not only can we pay off our old debts, we also have extra money to support our wives. "That person is happy and happy," monks, like a person suffering from severe pain. weight, eating indigestion, physical weakness. After a while, he recovered, eating and drinking pepper, physical rehabilitation. He thought: "I used to be sick, had serious pain, ate. indigestion, physical weakness. Now we recover from illness, eat and drink, and recover physical strength. "That person was happy and happy." The monks, like a person locked up in a prison, after a while being released from prison. , peace of mind, the assets are not reduced. He thought: "I used to be locked in a prison, now I am out of prison, peaceful, perfect, and property is not reduced." So he was happy happy. The Male-stilts, like a slave, not in control, dependent on others, are not free to move. He after some time escaped from the slavery of autonomy, not dependence on others, a liberated person, was free to move. He thought: "I used to be a slave, I could not control myself, I was dependent on other people, I was not free to move. escape, be free to move ". So he was happy happy. The Male-stilts, like a wealthy wealthy man, are walking through the desert. He went out of the desert after a while, At the beginning of the village, it is safe, there is no danger, and the property is not damaged. He thought, "I used to be rich, with many properties, going through the desert. Now I have come across that desert safely, without danger, and my assets have not been reduced." So he was happy happy.

Also the Male-stilts, the Female-stilts himself contemplated the five years of renunciation, such as debt, as sick, as prison, as slavery, as the road through the desert. The monks, as well as indebted, do not get sick, like get out of prison, like be free, like the land is peaceful, this monks, the monks on the slopes, when they are eradicated. "

So for the meditator, the five hindrances act as a burden, as a binding and liberating them means relieving the burdens and releasing them. When the five hindrances had eradicated, the new Meditator actually entered into Meditation, due to a process proceeding as follows, as described in the Sutta:  "When the shop itself has separated the five hindrances, the Han joyful birth. Because joy should be happy, due to the wedding Festival, the body is contempt, due to the body contempt peace life being. Because the optimistic life, the mind is calm ".

C. The First Jhana Meditation until the Fourth Jhana

The Buddha elaborately explained the four Zen practices attained, in order of before and after, together with the Zen ones:

"After the elimination of the five hindrances, the hindrances pollute the mind, weaken the intellect, he divorced, the evil Dharma, the evidence and the first Zen residence, a state of bliss due to sexual separation. , with the reach of the person, he is imbued with impregnation, soaked and full of this body with the bliss caused by sexual separation, there is no place in the whole body without the bliss caused by that being. the Bhikkhu khưu, like an adept bath master, or the servant's bath disciple, after sprinkling the bath powder in brass, immediately kneading the dough with water, the bath powder is soaked in wet water, mixed with wet water. , soaked both inside and out with water, but not flowing into drops. And so, the Male-stilts, soaked, soaked, make fullness fullness of this body with the bliss of being born, on the whole body is not blissful due to his imbibed birth cup ".

"Again, the Male-stilts, Female-stilts kill range and four evidence and stay in the second meditation, a state of joy due to birth, no range, no static inner mind. , making this fullness full of body with bliss due to birth, there is no place on the whole body that is not blissful due to that being imbued in. Hey monks, such as a lake, water from rising up, the East has no outflow hole, the West has no outflow hole, the North has no outflow hole, the South has no outflow hole, and the South has no downfall, and sometimes it rains heavily. water spouted, imbued, soaked, filled the lake with fullness of cool water, nowhere in the lake was it not cool and cool. , soaking wet, filling the body with fullness, with joy due to birth,There is no place in the whole body that is not blissful due to that birth.

"Again, the Male-stilts, Female-stilts divorce discharge discharge, mindfulness of awareness, body feeling that the Saints called discharge discharge residence, evidence and residence Tuesday Meditation. , soaked, making fullness fullness of this body with that joy without joy, there is no place on the whole body that cannot be enjoyed without joy, This monks, for example, in the blue lotus pond , lotus pink lake, white lotus lake, there are blue lotus, pink lotus, or white lotus. These lotus are born in water, grow up in water, do not cross the water, feed in the water, from the tip to the root the roots are soaked, soaked, soaked in by the cool water, no part of the whole blue lotus, pink lotus or white lotus is not soaked in that cool water. Female-stilts instilled, wet, making fullness fullness of this body with no joy,There is no place on the body that is not lost without joy, "he said.

"Again, the Male-stilts, Female-stilts discharge Lac, discharge suffering, kill the Hy had good feeling before, evidence and stay meditation Wednesday, not suffering not lost, discharge pure concept. He instilled the whole body. himself with the mind of pure purity, nowhere in the whole body is penetrated by that pure mind, Bhikkhus, such as a person sitting, using a white cloth covered with a hood, not anywhere in the whole. the body is not covered with white cloth. Also, the Male-stilts, he sat, imbued his whole body with a pure pure body, nowhere in the whole body was it pure, pure .

With these passages, we have some comments as follows:

Meditation is an ideological concentration on an object, thanks to that concentration, it is possible to change the five hindrances of Greed, Greed, Deep Kiss, Trent, and Comfort, by the year of Zen, , Fourth, Hy, Lac and Single-minded. Alternatives for Hypnotic hypnosis, Four for Nghi, Hy for San, Lac for Tao, and Single-mindedness for Greed.

Vision means afferent to the object. Quartet is attached to the mind. The mind no longer runs after another object, so that the antidote is kissed smoothly and thanks to the mind is tightly attached to the object, there is no doubt. Next are the two genera of Joy and Zen, Joy is the mind at ease, and Lac is the body at ease. Thus, practicing Meditation brings a comfortable mind and a comfortable body to the practitioner. This joy due to divorce is imbued with the whole body of the practitioner, nowhere cannot be silently instilled. Like bath foam is stuffed with water soaked in wet water. Like a cool spring imbued with wetness, it fills the lake with fullness. Like the types of lotus born in water, growing in water, not beyond the water, from the roots to the tops are drenched in wet water. Like a person sitting with a white cloth covered with a hood, no place on the whole body is not covered by the white cloth. So the meditator feels the joy of joy permeates the whole body, and for this reason, Zen is called the present bliss (Ditthadhammasukhavihàri). What can surprise people is that Zen brings comfort to the mind, different from the notion that people see Zen as something austere, anomalous, secret and hiding from life. Thus, the two types of Zen of Hy Lac will imbue the practitioner of Zen as a good support for the practice of Zen, and it is Hy and Lac that will lead to the meditation as we will see in the following process:

"Because joy should be born Hy. Because Hy should be the body should be contempt. Because the body should feel contempt to be born. Due to the life should be born" (Kinh Truong Bo) .

Such a birth due to optimistic. The sensation of being born thanks to one's contempt, the contempt of the body thanks to the mind of joy, and the mind of joy and joy. Joy, joy, and sensuality play an important role in the development of meditation. In other words, the state of bliss is the state of bliss that leads to meditation. Therefore, it is very strange to hear about the case of a Zen monk being insane, having a limb, an eye burst, etc. ... How can a state of bliss lead to disastrous results? so? This is not possible!

One of our remarks is that in the First Jhana, the five Zen genera - Games, Quartet, joy, bliss and one-pointedness - are complete. Up to the second Meditation, the fourth range is abandoned. To the third Meditation, Hy was abandoned. Up to the fourth meditation, peanuts are discharged instead and thus the fourth meditation is only exhausted and single-minded. This event speaks of the gradual purification state of the Zen Zi able to make the mind move. In the First Jhana, we have to use our sights to focus our mind on the object, we have to use our quads to adhere to the object, so our mind must be vigorously active so that we don't fall into two deep kisses. Because of the strong activity, nature is agitated. So go to the Second Meditation. The fourth range is abandoned and only blissful and one-pointed. But the joy of the Second Jhana also makes the Second Jhana to wobble, so up to the Third Jhana, the wedding time was abandoned, and only residual thoughts were lost. Then up to the Fourth Meditation,

The following passage ( Sutta Pitaka ) clearly states that the first three Zen are still agitated, only the fourth one is called motionless:

What is agitated? Here is the bliss has not been eradicated. This bliss is in a state of agitation. Here Udàyi, Female on stilts discharge misery discharge, kill Hy had good feeling before, evidence and residence meditation Wednesday, not suffering not discharge pure concept. Meditation, Udàyi, I said not in a state of agitation. "

The above passage shows the purification of the Zen Zi, from the First Meditation to the Fourth Meditation.

A new image used by the Buddha is a thorn, and in Zen, the sound is considered a thorn for Zen, as described as follows (Buddhist Sangha ):

"For the First Jhana, the noise is the thorn. For the second Zen witness, the quartet is the thorn. For the Third Meditation, joy is the thorn. For the Fourth Meditation, the breath is breathless. The reason is called a thorn, because these Zen chi interfere with the one-pointedness of the meditator and do not achieve the desired meditation. "

In summary, Zen is a healthy and transparent lifestyle, an upward educational method that helps eradicate the five hindrances: craving, aversion, deep kisses, remorse and suspicion, replaced by the five Zen years of meditation, the four joys and one-pointedness, the higher-minded minds bring up the residences, and so these four Zen are also called the present  Sangha .

Now we come across another question of what benefits does Zen bring, or in other words, what are the functions of Zen according to the Buddha's teaching. Here, we just mention the four benefits or four functions of Zen:

- One is that Zen has the ability to eradicate sexes, making demons unable to see the way back.

- The second is that Zen has the ability to treat fear.

- The third is Zen to bring Zen to practitioners.

- And the fourth is that Meditation leads to intellectual achievement, to enlightenment, liberation, to Nirvana.

One function of meditation is to help escape the domination of the year of upbringing, that is, through meditation, the meditator can effectively eradicate sexual desire. The following sutta ( Sutta of the Central Sutta ) states clearly the function of the zen:

"The Male-stilts, the Sa-la-Ba-la-subjects would be bound, greedy, be infatuated by this year of upbringing, not seeing the dangers of them, they need to be understand: "You have fallen into unhappiness, have fallen into calamities, were used by the demons as it wants." Hey monks, like a deer living in a trapped forest lying down, deer it must be understood: "It has fallen into unhappiness, has fallen into disaster, used by hunters as it wished, when the hunter came, the deer could not leave as it wished." Female-stilts, the Sa-Mon or She-what is not tied, not greedy, not be infatuated by this year of upbringing, see their harm, know the separation from them and use life they need to be understood: "You do not fall into unhappiness, do not fall into calamities, not being used by the devil as it wished ".

"Monks, like a deer living in the forest, must not lie down to lie down, the deer must be understood:" It does not fall into unhappiness, it does not fall into disasters, it is not The hunter uses it as he wants, when the hunter comes, the deer can leave as he wants. "

"Female-stilts, because like a deer living in the forest back and forth in the forest, rest assured it goes, peace of mind it stands, peace of mind it sits, peace of mind it lies. Why is this? Hey monks, because it is beyond the reach of the hunter.

no misery not lost, pure concept discharge. The Male-stilts, Female-stilts was called a position that made the Devil blind eyes, has eradicated all traces, was beyond the eyes of the Evil ".

In the Lesson Suffering Sutta, the Buddha speaks of his experience before becoming a Buddha, for the year of upbringing, if there is no Meditation in time he cannot eliminate them. The passage reads as follows:

"Hey Mahànàma, long ago when I was still a Bodhisattva, not yet proved Bodhi, had not become Chief Justice of Right Understanding, we were clever to see with the true view of the right view:" The less education, more suffering, more brain. The danger here is much more. "Although we are clever to see with such right view, but we have not yet been blissful due to the sexual separation, the unwholesome Dharma, or any other nobler dharma. , We know that we have not yet been dominated by desires, And hey, Mahànàma, when we are smart, we see with the true view, the pleasures are less and less, the brain is much more dangerous. be joyful due to the glass cup any friendly legal birth or any one more noble, so we are not dominated by the sex ".

In the Trap Trap ( Kinh Trung Bộ)), the Buddha used the example of four groups of deer to speak about the use of Zen to treat the upbringing, making the Devil blind in his eyes and not knowing the way back. The first deer, saw the traps that were hunted and placed by the hunters, invaded, ate those bait, became greedy and fell into the hands of the hunters. The second deer group, seeing the experience of the first deer group, immediately ran away scared into the forest, not daring to approach the bait traps. But in the summer, when water was scarce and lacked food, the second deer group had to come back out, invade and eat the bait of hunters and eventually end up in distress like the first deer. The third group of deer was more clever, saw the first two groups of deer in distress, immediately sought a hiding place near the bait traps of the hunters, ate the bait but did not invade, did not indulge, so did not fall into the hands of the hunters. But the hunters are more clever. They searched for the whereabouts of that deer, and found the hiding place of the third deer, and the deer finally fell into the hands of the hunters. The fourth deer team is very clever, drawing on the experience of the previous three deer groups to find a hiding place that leaves no trace so that hunters can know their hiding place, and from where it goes to. bait but not intrusive, not infatuated, should eventually escape the trap of the hunter.

The hunters symbolize the Devil. The bait for only five years of growth. The deer union only for the Sa-Mon, Ba-la-Mon austerities. The first deer only for the Sa-Mon, Ba-la-Mon invaded, infatuated with upbringing in upbringing should become a victim of Evil. The second deer group describes the Sa-la, Brahmin learned the experience of the first deer group, completely giving up world baits and objects, living patiently in the deep forest. But in the summer, water grass scarcity, the body of the Sa-Mon, Brahmin became weak, exhausted strength. So they go back to the demons sown and worldly objects. They invade, indulge in food. So they became victims of the Devil like the first deer. The third deer group learned the experience of the first two deer groups, not invading, not greedy, not fleeing into the forest. On the contrary, they make a hiding place near the demons sowing food and worldly objects, not invading, not greedy, they eat the food sown by the Devil and the worldly manipulations. As a result, they do not become victims of the Devil. But then they arouse the wrong view: "The world is often or not often, the world is boundless or infinite" etc .. Therefore, Sa-Mon and Brahman are not free from such Will of Evil. Fourth deity represents Sa-Mon, Ba-la-Mon learned the experience of the previous three Sa subjects, not intrusive, not indulging in the use of upbringing, so that the Devil cannot find it traces .... They made a cover for the demons and their demons unable to reach. After hiding, they cannot invade nor greedily eat the food sown by the Devil and worldly objects.

And the Buddha taught,  "Monks, why are they called Demons and Demons unable to come here? Here monks, monks, sex, divorce, and meditation first .... witness and stay the second meditation .... evidence and stay the third meditation ... the fourth meditation and residence, not suffering, not stray, discharge concept, purity. stilts make the demon blind eyes, break the eyes of evil, no trace left the evil not see the way to the ".

A power of Zen is to bring fearlessness to the meditator. In the Divine Word ( Tang Chi Bo)), referring to the devas fighting with astral. In this battle the gods were defeated and fled, the astral men chased. Chu Thien stopped to fight the second battle, also lost and ran long, and the A-tu-la-chase. Chu Thien stopped to fight the third battle, also lost and also ran long. This time the gods went into hiding in the city of gods again, and the gods knew that by hiding in this city, the astral monks could not come and fight. "The devas think as follows:" Now we have come to the refuge of those who are afraid. Currently, we live with us, there is nothing to do with the astral. hide of fearful people. Now they live with them, there's nothing to do with us. "

"Also, the Male-stilts, while Female-stilts, sex, friendly real France, attained and dwells in the First Jhana, a state of bliss due to divorce being born, has range, has four .... attainment and the residence of the Second Meditation .... the attainment and residence of the Third Meditation .... the attainment and the abiding of the Fourth Meditation ... meanwhile the monks, the monks, and the monks as follows: "With the go to the hideout of fear, we live with the self, there is nothing to do with the Devil." Hey Monks, the Devil himself thought as follows: "With the go to the hideout of fear, Female-stilts to live with self, there is nothing to do with me ... "The Male-stilts so called Male-stilts as the Devil blind eyes, the eye segment of The devil, no trace left, makes him unable to see the way back. "

In the Upali ( Anguttara ), the Buddha said to the power of meditation, and recommend only those monks meditation at the new so far away mountains. Venerable Upàli, who wanted to practice in remote lands, the Buddha taught,  "It is not easy to live in highland mountains and forests. living alone Far away, the time he was waiting as follows: "He will sink, time he was waiting as follows:" He will sink to the bottom or float on the surface of the water. "

The Buddha then used the example of a large elephant that could dive into a large lake, bathe and play elephant games, then safely climb back to shore. Because of the elephant's great self, he finds his foot in the lake. A cat or a rabbit, on the other hand, sees an elephant doing it and imitates it, thinking that an elephant can do it all the time. Without calculating, it jumped into the lake. With that cat or rabbit, it is expected to sink to the bottom of the water or float to the surface, because its small self cannot find its feet in the lake.

Likewise Upàli, who says, "Although I am not in samadhi, I will live in highland mountains and forests in remote lands". With him, it is expected that "it will sink or float on the surface of the water". So Zen gives us a fearlessness, soothes every panic, trembles, making Zen people can live in deep desolate forests without fear.

Here, we rely on the example of the ten Bhikkhu-stilts in the Samyutta, from the Male-stilts-ni Alavikà to the Female-stilts-ni Vajirà, all ten Female-stilts-ni facing the Devil. none of the Female-stilts-nuns panickedly ran away, because all these ten Female-stilts-nuns were meditating.

Another ability of Zen is to bring joy to the meditator, from the First Jhana to the bliss caused by sexual separation, to the Second Jhana due to birth, to the Third Meditation without joy, only to recite to the Fourth Meditation with pure recitation, each joy is more sequentially greater than the previous bliss, and these bliss does not dominate the mind of the Zen meditator, on the contrary, it is for the current Zen practitioner to stray, as the term Ditthadhammasukhavihàri is defined for Zen. Thus, Zen also brings joy to the meditator, and joy acts like a food called food, bringing optimism, effort, effort, enthusiasm, energy for Zen practitioners. , not bring sickness, madness, confusion, boredom, negativity as people have wrongly assigned to the practice of Zen.

One of the most wonderful functions of Zen is to bring wisdom, from wisdom to liberation, to liberate knowledge according to the process of Gender, Concentration, Wisdom, Liberation and Liberation of knowledge.

The first process is from the Fourth Meditation, with calm, pure, clear, uninfected, unhappiness, smoothness, ease of use, firmness and calmness, the practitioner turns his mind to Tuc network. , to Thien label minh, to Gon take. "He knows the truth" This is suffering ", knows the truth" This is the practice ", knows the truth" This is suffering ", knows the truth" This is the path to cessation ", knows the truth" This is the illegal or ", know as real" This is the cause of the illegal or ", know as real" This is illegal or kill ", know as true" This is the way to smuggled or destroyed. " so, as such, his mind escaped from illegal sex, from smuggled property, from illegal ignorance. For such liberation itself, aroused understanding. " "Birth is done, Pham Hanh has done, what to do, has not returned to this state anymore . (Chinese Central Business).

A process of liberation is mentioned in the Eight Sūtras ( Sutta Pitaka ), during which Dinh and Tue, Chi and Quan initiate together, from the first Zen towards the shop, from the second Zen towards the shop. , from the Third Meditation towards the shop, from the Fourth Meditation towards the shop ... leading to the elimination of contraband or:

"Here the owner, the Female-on stilts, the cup of real goodness, evidence and stay in the First Meditation, a state of bliss due to the cup of sexual birth, has a range of four. He thinks and is known:" This First Jhana is compounded, due to the fact that the thought is impermanent, subject to cessation. He firmly established here, except the pirated or. And if the smuggled or not yet eradicated, due to this attachment, due to the joy of this dharma, he can eradicate the five lower part of fetters, be reborn, enter Nirvana at that realm, and not have to return. this life. As such, this homeowners, is the only legal by the World Religion, fake Tri, ranks Kien fake, A-la-Han, Chief Justice College Enlightenment declared. If Female-on stilts not distracted, enthusiastic enthusiasm, living in the legal practice, then the mind was not freed and the pirated or not except the minus,

Looking at the whole picture of Zen, we clearly see the important position of Zen in the process of Precepts, Concentration, Wisdom and so on, helping us to eradicate sex, so that the demons don't see the way; Meditation helps us to eliminate fear; Meditation brings us joy and happiness, mental comfort, physical comfort, Zen brings health to body and mind, and ultimately meditation leads to wisdom, liberation and wisdom.

Through the above definitions, we see that Zen is a discipline that has special and varied definitions and actions. First of all, meditation is a harmony between manpower and natural power, a harmony thanks to the position of Zen, the time of sitting, the setting of Zen. Meditation still has a decisive ability for good, good direction, and end for good. Moreover, Zen can be considered as an education about sensation, cultivating good sensations such as joy, bliss, and letting go, and renouncing unpleasant sensations, such as suffering and pros. Meditation is a psychological education, ending the psychology that is not as good as the five hindrances, greed, and replaced by the good psychology that the year of meditation is no greed, no anger, no ignorance. In short, meditation is a stage following the precepts and entering into wisdom ie meditation.

Here, we would like to introduce a meditation practice that we found when we translate the Samyutta Nikaya ( Economics Ministry Samyutta ). We would like to summarize the presentation to introduce you, especially you can apply the practice, to be able to properly evaluate this practice and enjoy the results brought about by this discipline. That is the Anàpànasati method, translated as reciting the breath in and out of breath, and is described as follows in the sutta "One dharma" ( Samyutta, V ):

"There is a dharma, bhikkhus, is practiced, made full, has great results, and has great benefits. What is a dharma? Mindfulness of breathing, exhaling. And, monks, reciting the breath, breathing out, how to practice, how to make it full, have great results, have great benefits? ".

"Here, monks, bhikkhus go to the forest or go to a tree, or go to the empty house, and sit cross-legged, sitting straight. Put the concept in front of him, mindfulness of breathing, mindfulness of breathing out".

"Breathing deeply, he knows" I sigh deeply. "Breathing long, he knows:" I exhale ". short, he knows: "I exhale short".

"My whole body feeling will become invisible," he practiced. "The feeling of my whole body exhaling," he practiced. "An NET body of practice I will breathe in", he practice. "An NET body of practice I will exhale," he practice ".

"Feeling happy, I will breathe in," he practices. "Feeling happy, I'll exhale", he practiced. "Feeling optimistic, I will breathe out," he practiced. "Feeling pleasant, I will breathe out," he said.

"Feeling of mind, I will breathe in," he practiced. "Feeling of the mind, I will exhale", he practiced. "Calming your mind, I will breathe in", he practiced. "Calming your mind, I will exhale", he practiced. "Feeling of mind, I will breathe in", he practices, "Feeling of mind, I will exhale", he practices ".

"With joyful mind, I will breathe in," he practiced. "With joyful mind, I will exhale," he practiced. "With calm concentration, I will breathe in," he practiced. "With calm concentration, I will exhale," he practiced. "With the liberating mind, I will breathe in," he practiced. "With the liberating mind, I will exhale," he practices. "

"Quan impermanence, I will breathe in", he practiced. "Quan impermanence, I will exhale," he practiced. "Guise greed, I will breathe in", he practice. "Guise greed, I will exhale", he practiced. "Contemplating passing, I will breathe in", he practiced. "Contemplating cessation, I will exhale", he practiced. "Give up, I will breathe in", he practiced. "If you give up, I will exhale", he practices ".

"Practicing thus, the Male-stilts, making fullness, thus, the concept of breathing in, breath out has great results, has great benefits".

This practice is confirmed by the Buddha to lead to two results: Right Understanding and Unmatched:

"Mindfulness of breathing in and breathing out, being practiced like this, monks, are made to be so prolific, waiting for one of the following two results:" Right in the present life, the right mind is present. If there is medicine, evidence of any results ". (Samyutta).

This practice helps the meditator to get rid of the body vibrating and the mind vibrates:

"Thanks to such practice, the mindfulness of breathing in breathing out, the Male-stilts thanks to making such prolific, so the body does not vibrate or agitate, the mind does not vibrate, not agitated" (Kinh Kappina, Samyutta V).

Before he was enlightened, the Buddha practiced this Dharma practice. The Buddha's body and eyes were not tired and the mind was liberated from the contraband or:

"The Male-stilts, I before enlightenment, not being Chief Justice of the feeling, while still Bo-slaps, I stay with this stay (Mindfulness of breathing and breathing out); Do I stay a lot with an stay Behold, my body and eyes are not tired, and my mind is liberated from contraband or, without grasping. Therefore, monks, if the male-stilts desires, "Hope that the body and the eyes from being tired and hoping that my mind will be liberated from gonorrhea or no grasping, this time of reciting the breath in and out of the breath needs to be skillful ".

There are many Male-stilts while contemplating the body, wanting to give up with this body, boring, cuddly to this body, so some Male-stilts have brought a knife to end their lives. . Buddha heard immediately gathered the Male-stilts, rebuked and taught the Dharma of breathing in this breath.

"Monks, to recite this breath in and out of breath, to practice, to be fullness is to be impure, magical, homogeneous (Arecanako), to stray, to make evil being born or not yet, making them disappear, just immediately. For example, monks, in the end of the summer months, dust and sticky clouds rise, which is the heavy off-season heavy rain that immediately makes them disappear. Similarly, the Male-stilts, the mindfulness of breathing in the breath out, be cultivated, made to be fullness, is the President pure magic, homogeneous, stray, make fullness, is President President. Magical, homogeneous, lost residence, making the evil, unwholesome was born disappear, net just immediately "(Vesali, Samyutta V).

When practicing the 16 topics, on the sensations, on the mind and on the dharma, the Buddha taught us how to concentrate on the mind to achieve results while meditating.

He taught the following ( Sutta Kimbila, Samyutta V ):

"Hey Ananda, living on the body, the Male-stilts, meanwhile, stay at home with zeal, awareness, mindfulness, and taking part in life. Why? Hey monks, I declare it up belongs to the body, which means breathing in and out of breath, so Ananda, the body of the body, while residing in the zeal, awareness, mindfulness, ambition of taking part in life .... announced that depending on the concentration of mindfulness of breathing in breathing out, not for those who are forgetful and not aware, so Ananda, mind on the mind, Female-stilts meanwhile stay warm, calm, right mind concept, photographers take advantage of life ... Hey Ananda, contemplating on the Dharma, Female-stilts meanwhile stay enthusiastic, calm, mindful, photographers take part in life. see with wisdom, he cleverly stay discharge. Therefore, this Ananada contemplation of the law,Female-stilts meanwhile stay enthusiastic, static, mindfulness, photographers take advantage of life. "

"For example, Ananda, a large pile of dust and dirt at the crossroads, if from the East a car comes and makes that dust fall, if from the West ... if from the North ... If from the South, a car goes to and makes that pile of dust reduce, so too Ananda, Male-stilts while staying close to the torso, reducing the unwholesome evil, when staying contemplation on the sensations ... When staying on the dhamma on the law, making the evil real friendly lessened ".

With quotations from the Buddha's teaching on the Dharma of reciting exhalation, we investigate and analyze, and we make the following remarks about this Anàpànasati practice:

1. This disciplines belong to the four disciplines of mindfulness (cattàrosatipatthàna), which means the disciplines refer to the four places (lands) to dwell in mindfulness, namely body, feeling, mind and dhammas. This Anàpànasati practice refers to 16 topics for peace of mind: four topics about the body, three topics about sensation, four topics about the mind, four topics about France. The meditator, breathing in and out, contemplating on 16 topics related to the breath.

2. This practice includes meditation and wisdom, including samatha and vipassanà. Both Chi Quan and Dinh Tue have practiced together in this practice. When using the four columns of mind on the breath to breathe out, so is Only, so is Dinh. When taking wisdom to contemplate 16 selected topics, such as Quan, such as Tue.

3. Because the Dharma door to recite the breath with out-and-exhaled breath is Only Quan-tu song tu, and Tue-tu tu tu tu, the two main movements of this Method should be noted. First of all take the mind and mind and focus the mind on the breath with in and out breath during the sitting meditation period, without leaving a single moment. As a result, the antidote is kissed, hypnotized, and doubted. During the sitting meditation, our mind does not leave the breath breathing out. Only when the Fourth Meditation is reached do we need to leave the breath and exhale. Next, we take the mind to contemplate the 16 chosen subjects, from the first to the 16th, constantly observing like that, and while contemplating, we make efforts to practice to done for the topic we are observing, so this method emphasizes the practice of the human mind according to the chosen topic.

For example, if you want your mind to feel happy and happy, the time you need to practice: "feeling happy, I will breathe in", he practices. "Feeling happy, I will exhale" he practices, "Feeling pleasant, I will breathe into" him. "The feeling of pleasantness I will exhale" he practiced. In order for the mind to be peaceful, the time for practicing "Calming the mind of action, I will breathe in" is practiced. "Calming your mind, I will breathe out", he practiced. In order for the mind to be calm, time must practice: "With calm mind, I will breathe in", he practices. "With calm concentration, I will exhale," he practiced. Depending on what mind you want to practice, what dharma practice you follow, when you fully focus on that issue to practice, this can be considered as an implicit autism method, but you have the power to uphold it, should differ from the usual allusive autism methods.

4. As the Buddha taught, this dharma will lead to the attainment of right understanding in the present, if there is medicine, witness of the Immeasurable Result. Thus this discipline leads to enlightenment and liberation.

5. This practice helps us to tame the vibrating body and the vibrating mind, helping our body and our eyes not get tired. This discipline is a disciplined, pure, hostile, homogeneous, does not cause any harm to the body and mind. On the contrary, it helps the current meditator to get lost. This disciplines again have the ability to take advantage, making light of the unwholesome dhammas.

Therefore, practicing this Anàpànasati practice does not bring any harm to the body and mind, no charms, no seals, no sorcery, it is a completely healthy, pure life, a pp. upward education only benefits the practitioner through the fresh air in meditation, through breathing in and out of the air, by cultivating sensual pleasures, and by clearing away the hindsight. be wise, the body is healthy, the lungs breathe uncontrollably, the heart is beaten, the jump circuit is conditioned, helping the practitioner to gradually come to enlightenment and liberation.

We presented our personal experience of the Buddha's Meditation before becoming enlightened, during enlightenment, during 45 years of preaching, and while he entered Nirvana. We also presented the Buddha's basic teachings on the practice of Zen. We have also introduced the practice of reciting the breath in and out so that Buddhists and scholars can study and practice.

If we apply the Method of reciting the breath in and out in the present life, apply it simply and persistently, maybe 15 minutes, half an hour or 1 hour daily, in the early morning or in the morning. At night, gradually, we will receive the practical results of this practice. For those who focus on nourishing, reciting the breath in and out of the breath brings you the mental and physical health you need and comes close to "Immaculate, the ultimate benefit" (Arogyà paramàlabhà).

For those who want to blend their inner strength with the natural power, meditating in the sky, in the solitude of solitude at night or in the deep forest of solitude, will bring us many wonderful feelings. For those who want to educate sensation, nurture healthy senses, cope with misery, cultivate bliss, recite the breath in and out of breath, it can help them to be lost and to see life with eyes. optimistic. For those who want to go deep into the psychological issues, educate and nurture themselves with the power of mindfulness, concentration and wisdom; This method of meditation on breathing helps them to attain the end of virtue of enlightenment, liberation and wisdom.

Let us try to revive the healthy meaning of the original practice of Zen, apply the concept of reciting the breath of breath in our daily life and thus we have just returned the grace of Dharma teaching The Buddha's birth and his own sharing of Zen experiences. Only then can we appreciate the Buddha's method of meditation and enjoy the good effects of the practice of Zen. END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).GOLDEN AMITAHA MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.1/6/2020.
