Minor - Khuddhaka Nikaya Episode I Little Song Khuddakapatha -ooOoo- VIII. The Museum Sutra (Nidhikanda Sutta) A man who keeps his treasure, At the bottom of a deep well, Thinking: "If I need help, It benefits me". If convicted by the king, Or pay debts, Or robbed captive, And demanded ransom, In the time of crop failure, accident, For such purpose, In this world, Will come to claim treasure. Though it's never, So well stashed, At the bottom of a deep well, Still not quite enough, Help people all the time. Treasures are displaced, Or people forget their tracks, Or spirit snakes take them away, Or gods disperse, Or the heirs, He does not accept, Move the treasure, When he does not see. And when merit is exhausted, All is destroyed. When men and women, Give alms, observe precepts Or meditate, wisdom, Treasures are well saved. In a temple, a stupa, a Sangha, an individual, a traveler, Or a mother, a father, Or a brother. This storehouse is well saved, Follows him, does not lose, Among all things to leave, He goes with it. No one else shares, No robbery can take. So those who are diligent, Do good deeds, That Treasure follows you, It will never be lost. This is a treasure, Can satisfy, All desires of gods and men, Whatever they desire, All are obtained, By meritorious deeds. Beauty of skin color, Beauty of sound, Beauty of form, Beauty of the whole body, Great position, Together with attendants, All are achieved, Through meritorious deeds. The throne of one realm, the King of Ultimate Bliss, And the stay in Heaven, All are attained, By meritorious deeds. The supreme beauty of man, All heavenly pleasures, Or supreme extinction, All are achieved Through meritorious deeds. Achieving the ultimate victory over friends, Specialized in the practice of righteousness, Gaining wisdom and liberation, All are achieved. Thanks to meritorious deeds. The Four Unobstructed Ways of Liberation , Eight Levels of Liberation, The Perfection of Shravaka Wisdom, Both Ways of Enlightenment: Single Enlightenment, Right Enlightenment, All are achieved, Thanks to meritorious deeds. The reward is great, Due to merit surpassing, Therefore the diligent, And those of wisdom, Have created treasure.
