The Amitabha Sutra explains.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH.
Each sutra has its own name and a common name. The proper name is only special that the sutra has; The common name is the common name that every sutra has.
What is a proper name? As the name "Amitabha Buddha" is the proper name, only this sutra is called, and the other sutras are not. " Kinh" is a common name, this common name is available in any sutra. "Common" is the common of the sutras, "private" is only this sutra.
This sutra should not be underestimated, because it is a sutra that is often recited in the afternoon in the temple. Especially this sutra is said by the Buddha.
There are five classes of people who can speak sutras: 1/ Buddha; 2/ Buddha's disciples; 3/ Chu Thien; 4/ Fairy; 5/ Transforming Humans, ie people transformed by Buddhas or gods.
Except for the sutras of the Buddha, the scriptures of the other four classes of people who say that they must pass through the seal of the Buddha are called sutras, otherwise they cannot be called sutras.
This sutra is from the golden mouth of the Buddha, explaining the wonderful and wonderful logic, no need to ask. Other sutras must have someone ask the Buddha to speak out. Only this Amitabha Sutra is not asked by anyone, the Buddha said it himself. Why? Because the meaning of this sutra is very mysterious, the wisdom of the shravakas cannot be reached, nor can all the bodhisattvas understand it, so there is no reason for people to ask about the Pure Land method. Just because this dharma is worthy of being spoken of, the Buddha, seeing that his faculties were mature, spoke this sutra himself. This sutra is therefore very important in Buddhism.
Why is this sutra so important? When the Buddha Dharma is about to die, the first is the Surangama Sutra, because all Maras are very afraid of the Shurangama mantra. After the Shurangama Sutra is destroyed, the other sutras are destroyed in turn. At that time, even though there was paper, there were no words on the paper. In the end, only the Amitabha Sutra remained in the world for one hundred years to transform immeasurable and boundless sentient beings. Thanks to the six red letters Namo Amitabha Buddha, many people have been saved, there are boundless numbers. After that, in the six letters of the red name, two words "Namo" were lost, only "Amitabha Buddha" remained for another hundred years. Only then did the Buddhadharma cease to exist. This sutra dies last, so it is a very important sutra in the Buddhadharma.
Now let's talk about the title of the sutra. The title of this sutra is "Buddha's Amitabha Sutra."
What is "Buddha"? The Buddha is a great enlightened being, enlightening all dharmas without the slightest bit of confusion. Buddha is a karmic person who has no love, karma is over, and love is also dry. The worldly man is a person with heavy karma, infatuated with love, so he is called a living being. Buddha has all three enlightenments, so he is a great enlightened being. The three enlightenments are:
1. Enlightenment: Capital is already enlightenment.
2. Sense: New enlightenment.
3. Salvation of enlightenment: Enlightenment to the extreme.
These three enlightenments can be said to be: Self-realization, Enlightenment, and Perfect Enlightenment. We ordinary people are unconscious, one day from morning to night we think we are intelligent, but in fact we are stupid people who do not know anything. Just like a gambler who claims to be a winner, but in fact loses. Why are you so crazy? Because it's so misleading. Knowing that it's wrong, but still doing it, it's because I'm so addicted. The deeper you fall in love, the deeper you fall in love. What should I do? Enlightenment is required.
Buddha is also a part of living beings, also a being, but he is not delusional. He is enlightened, that is self-awareness. Self-conscious people are not the same as ordinary people, they are also the people of the Two Vehicles: shravakas, pratyekabuddhas. People of the Two Vehicles are self-enlightened, self-enlightened but not enlightened, so they are called Thanh Van vehicles. Enlightenment is the bodhisattva. The bodhisattva is not for himself, unlike the Second Vehicle, who is self-enlightened, enlightened himself, and then has no intention of making others enlightened. The bodhisattva's mind is not like that, the bodhisattva's intention is to benefit all sentient beings without the need for sentient beings to benefit himself. That is to use the method of self-enlightenment to teach sentient beings, so that all sentient beings are also enlightened and no longer confused, that is the practice of the Bodhisattva path. The Two Vehicles practice the Four Noble Truths of Suffering, Collection, Cessation, and Path and the twelve causes and conditions.
What are the twelve causes and conditions? The twelve causes and conditions are Ignorance Condition, Behavioral Consciousness, Consciousness Condition, Name and Form, Name and Form Condition, Six Entry, Sixth Entry, Contact, Life, Life, Love, Love, Thu, Friendship, and Birth. Lust of Lao Tzu.
Where do these twelve predestined conditions come from? From Ignorance that comes. If we don't have Ignorance, these twelve causes and conditions cannot come into play. Because we have Ignorance, this one leads to another. The second line of cultivation is these dharmas. As for the bodhisattvas, they pass this stage, and they practice the Six Thousand Ways of Life, such as:
1. Alms of greed: If people want to stop being greedy, they must give alms, if they can't, they have to give up. Not giving up is greed, so you can't quit. So it is said that almsgiving is greedy.
2. Maintain the level of delinquency.
3. Patience to anger: If your character is angry or angry, you should practice patience. Fan has to be patient, he shouldn't be like Asura all day, can't say a gentle word, his eyes widen like a bull's eyes when he says it. Those are all Asura realms.
4. Diligence for the treatment: If the treatment is to be treated, it is necessary to practice diligently to push back the treatment.
5. Meditation degree of dispersion: If we keep thinking about wandering, we must practice Meditation. If there are no delusions, there will be no distractions, the most important thing is to have wisdom.
6. The wisdom level of stupidity: Having wisdom is no longer stupid, if you are stupid, there is no wisdom. There was no wisdom before, but now there is wisdom, that is stupidity, like light repelling darkness. Light is wisdom, darkness is ignorance.
Bodhisattvas cultivate the Six Thousand Ways of Life, are self-aware of others, different from the Second Vehicle, this is the place.
Enlightenment is the wonderful enlightenment, the Buddha. Buddha is self-aware, also enlightened, so Buddha is perfect enlightenment. Buddha if fully said is Buddha-da-gia, because the Chinese like to say it short, so it is called Buddha for short. Westerners say Buddha is also short for Buddha-da-da. Someone said: The teacher preached back and forth about the Buddha, but I still don't know who the Buddha is? Let me tell you: You are the Buddha!
Q: Why don't I know?
- You don't know it's Buddha. But your Buddha is not an accomplished Buddha, but an unrealized Buddha.
Here you will understand: A! It turned out that the Buddha was an ordinary person who became a Buddha, so anyone can practice to become a Buddha. If a person is enlightened, he is a Buddha; on the contrary are sentient beings.
Buddha also has Three Bodies, Four Wisdoms, Five Eyes, Six Thongs. We are sentient beings, even though we have Buddha nature, we can all become Buddhas, but because we have not yet attained Buddhahood, we do not have these three bodies, four wisdoms, five eyes, and six faculties. Buddha is from ordinary practitioners to the fruit of a new Buddha has all of the above. That's why someone says, "I am the Buddha", that's just too much delusion! If you haven't become a Buddha yet, and yet you say that I am a Buddha, you are clearly lying to yourself and others. What a great fool in the world. Although everyone can become a Buddha, everyone must practice and have enough Three Bodies and Four Wisdoms to become a Buddha.
Three Bodies are: 1/ Dharmakaya; 2/ The sambhogakaya; 3/ Incarnation.
Four Tri is: 1/ Great member of the scene; 2/ Dieu observing wisdom; 3/ City of intellectual property; 4/ Equality of mind.
The six pines are:
1. Celestial clairvoyance: Can see all the actions of heaven and human.
2. Thien ear communication: Can hear the voices and sounds of people in the sky.
3. Forgiveness of mind: Being able to know the ideas in the hearts of others.
4. Tuc network communication: Not only know the present, but also know the past.
5. Divine Mercy: (Also known as: God of Wisdom) This miracle is inconceivable, the realm is very subtle.
6. Thoroughly gonorrhea: It's like there's a hole in the bottom of a water bottle, the water all flows out from that hole. Now it no longer flows, because that hole has been sealed, so it is called smuggled out.
What is contraband? That is, there is no lustful mind, then there is no gonorrhea; no greedy mind is also no gonorrhea; There is no delusion and there is no contraband. In a nutshell, eighty-four thousand of the habits and faults are not there, called the Unscrupulous.
The five labels are: 1/ Thien eye; 2/ Disgraceful label; 3/ Hue longan; 4/ Dharma label; 5/ Buddha eye.
There is a verse about the five labels like this:
Celestial clairvoyance is not afraid,
Shame on not knowing,
The Dharma eye refers to customs,
Hue's eyes are clear,
Buddha's thousand-faced face:
Other mats, can re-copper.
1. "Thian eye is not afraid": Thien eye is clear without blocking, so it is called "through not afraid". He can see things for eighty thousand aeons, but not beyond eighty thousand aeons.
2. "Disgraceful eyes do not communicate": Humiliated eyes can see scenes with obstacles. In contrast, the Celestial Eye can see unobstructed scenes.
3. "Factory label only customary": Dharma eye is the customary shop, observing all the customary emperors in the world, secular ethics.
4. "Hue label clearly bare foot": Hue label also called wisdom, or clear Chon not.
5. "Buddha's eye thousand facets: The other mat, the same body": The Buddha's eye is not only on the Buddha's face, but each of us has the Buddha's eye, only open or not. When the Buddha's eye is opened, it is like the light of a thousand suns, which can illuminate all things, but the essence is the same.
Buddha has enough Three Bodies, Four Wisdoms, Five Eyes, six pine; If we say we are Buddhas, we must have enough of the above to be able to say we become Buddhas, otherwise we are just ordinary people. If you want to be a good person, don't deceive others.
Buddha Shakyamuni is the Master of the Saha world. The world of Ultimate Bliss that he talked about has the leader, Amitabha Buddha. That land is very dignified, the ground is pure gold.
What is the world of Ta Ba? Ta Ba is an Indian language, translated into Chinese as Kham Toan, which means that the world of Saha is suffering like that, and sentient beings are also able to endure those sufferings. The Saha world is the world we live in, with Shakyamuni Buddha as the leader. Shakyamuni is Buddha's surname, Muni is Buddha's name, both are Sanskrit, translated into Chinese as Nang Nhan? What is Talent? Is to use compassion and love for people to teach sentient beings, which is also compassion. From good to happy, Compassionate or saving suffering, ending the suffering of sentient beings and giving them peace.
Ball has three things:
1. Compassionate love: This compassion is enough for all ordinary people, which is also a kind of mind that agrees, known as the concurrence of love. Why is it called Ai Kien Bi? Those who are close to me, I love them, have pity on them; when they are far away from me or are strangers, I don't love or pity them anymore. All of my close friends can help them, when they see them suffering, they do their best to help them, that is called Compassion. But when they are far away, or have nothing to do with me, when they suffer, I also leave. Why? Because for them I have no love (Ai). Only love has this Bi. Moreover, they are of the same kind as themselves, so they have this kind of Compassion; if not, fellow beings will not have that compassion. As with animals: cows, goats, chickens, geese... we not only don't have love, compassion, but also want to eat its meat, take its life to nourish our own life, that's because there is no love. ant bi. Fortunately, humans are not even to the point of eating their own kind. Although he eats cows, goats, chickens, geese, fish... but he has not had the habit of eating human flesh, so it is better than tigers, leopards, wolves a bit. But the tiger does not eat its own kind. That's why people don't eat human flesh, but only eat animals, just because they don't have love and compassion for animals.
2. France's predestined compassion: This compassion of the Second Vehicle. The Second Vehicle has not only the love of compassion, but also the Dharma of predestined compassion. They contemplate all dharmas as arising from dependent origination. But the cause has no nature, the body means emptiness, that is, right in the cause and condition itself, there is no self-nature, so "the body means emptiness". The second vehicle contemplating the dharma "Condition of emptiness" generates compassion, so they teach sentient beings without being attached to the marks of living beings, because everything is empty. That is the Dharma of the Second Vehicle.
3. The same compassion: The Buddhas and Bodhisattvas also have another kind of Bi, ie the great compassion. The Buddhas, Bodhisattvas and sentient beings are the same, because the Dharma body of the Buddha is all-pervasive, and the Buddha's nature is also all-pervasive, so all sentient beings are included in the Buddha's nature. We are sentient beings in the Buddha mind. Buddha is the Buddha in the mind of sentient beings. The mind of all beings and the mind of Buddha are "along the same three sacrifices, across the ten directions" alike. Therefore, between Buddha and sentient beings are the same, there is no difference. This is the Great Compassion Body.
The human capacity of Buddha Shakyamuni has all three types of compassion above, if broadly speaking, it is immeasurable and boundless. Mani is the name of Buddha. This is also Sanskrit, Chinese translated as Tich Mo. President is quietly unmoving. Even though the mouth does not speak, not only the mouth does not speak, but the mind does not think, it is an inconceivable realm. Therefore, Buddha Shakyamuni, even though he spoke the Dharma, spoke but never spoke; Although he has not spoken the Dharma, he has not said it yet. "Speak without speaking, do not speak without talking". That is the silence, though quietly not moving but sympathize; sympathize but remain silent and motionless. That is the personal name of Shakyamuni Buddha. Only this Buddha has that name. Other Buddhas do not call this name, because it is a personal name. Buddha is the common name. Everyone who becomes a Buddha is called a Buddha.
Now let's talk about the word "Theory". What is a theory? Why is a theory necessary? In terms of extracting characters, the word "Theory" is the word for Language next to the word Doi with two dots above the word "human" meaning a person, the word "Ku" in the middle meaning mouth, and the word "human" at the bottom is another person: It means a person talking. with another person. Talk about what? Saying the things you want to say, the things that are pleasing to your heart, are the same as saying the things you want to say, you will be happy. On the contrary, if you say no, you will not be happy. It is also the joy of being able to say the things that I once held in my heart.
Buddha Shakyamuni and all the Buddhas of the ten directions have become Buddhas, so they are called Immortal Enlightened Ones, that is, those who have awakened first in a long dream. Ordinary people are still asleep in dreams. The Buddha was not only enlightened but also a Great Enlightened One; so for Buddha nothing is unknown, nothing is invisible; Because the Buddha knows, he knows everything; because the Buddha sees, he sees everything. The Buddha was enlightened by his own practice and attained Righteousness, who went through that path, then brought the method of practice to attain the fruition and taught it to all sentient beings so that they also attained Buddhahood. Bodhi is completely ultimate like Him. Therefore, the Buddha should speak the Dharma for sentient beings to hear. What did Buddha say? Now he is talking about Amitabha Buddha, that is, teaching the Amitabha Sutra.
"Amitabha" is Indian, Chinese translates as Infinite Life, or Infinite Light. Why is it called Infinite Life? In the Amitabha Sutra it is said: "That Buddha became a Buddha ten kalpas ago." Ten kalpas have a clear number of ink, why is it called Infinite Life? Immeasurable Life is his blessing, because of his good fortune, he lives a long life (Long life), his merit is immeasurable, so his life span is also immeasurable.
Why is it called Infinite Light?
This light (Light) is the light of wisdom. His light of wisdom is immeasurable, so he is called Infinite Life, Infinite Light.
Not only does the Buddha have immeasurable merits and virtues, but his magical powers of defence, good generals, and religious hearts are all immeasurable; say immeasurable means there is no edge and no edge to calculate. To say immeasurable means boundless, that is, not everywhere but everywhere. Immeasurable is the word "one" that exists, so it is said "One is immeasurable, immeasurable is one".
There was a professor who wrote a book on item numbers: “Just like adding a circle after the number of items, the number becomes larger; the more circles you add, the larger the number becomes. If we add the circle around the whole world, the number of entries will be infinitely larger.” So the number of entries is infinite.
Amitabha Buddha's life span, merit, wisdom, and dharma power are immeasurable, even though he can draw countless circles after the number of entries, the number will increase, the more circles the number of circles will become. many times larger. If we add the circle around the whole world, the number of entries will be infinitely larger.” So the number of entries is infinite.
Amitabha Buddha's life span, merit, wisdom, and dharma power are immeasurable and boundless, even if he can draw countless circles, it cannot be calculated. Since it is infinite, there is no quantity, arithmetically it is inexhaustible (infinity); right where thai emptiness is, in thai there is no more emptiness, so the number of items is still endless. The merit and wisdom of Amitabha Buddha are immeasurable, so it is called Amitabha Buddha. Amitabha Buddha and Shakyamuni Buddha both became Buddhas from human cultivation, not from falling from the sky or jumping up from the earth. Therefore, according to the classification of Buddhist scriptures, the Amitabha Sutra is classified as "cause and effect". Because Amitabha Buddha is from a human being (cause) cultivating to become (result) Buddha, so this sutra is classified as "cause and effect".
Now comes the word "Sutra" . The common name, Kinh is Khe Kinh. Why is it called Ke Kinh? "Degree" means union, that is, the upper contract is in accord with the mysterious logic of the Buddhas, and the lower contract is in harmony with the basis of sentient beings, which is called the Sutra. Sutras have five meanings:
1. The sutra is the original mind of the dharma , the basis of the dharma, so it is said that the sutra is the root of all dharmas. Buddha understood the source of all dharmas, so he preached. Therefore, the teaching is the basis of the dharma, using the method of "Four All-Dharma" to express the basis of the Dharma. "All" is all-pervasive, "herd" is alms-giving, ie giving all-pervasive to all sentient beings. The four suttas are:
The world of all-dan: Speak the worldly dharma.
Treat all- dangerous : Treat and correct the mistakes of sentient beings.
The man of all-dan: For the sake of sentient beings that preach the Dharma.
First meaning all-dan: The ultimate teaching (first meaning) to all sentient beings.
After all, the Dharma cannot be expressed, but because of the practice of the Four Kinds of Giving the Dharma, the four Siddhas listed above, the Buddha was able to express the Dharma. Therefore, the word Sutra means Basic Dharma
2. The Sutra is the meaning of the wonderful Dharma : The wonderful French is the very subtle, because all the profound and magical teachings are in the Sutra. If you don't say it, no one will know. Therefore, the Sutra is to promote the wonderful morality.
3. Sutra means fountain: Just as spring water from the earth bursts forth from the earth unceasingly, so the teachings from the Tablets flow like spring water. So, for example, the Sutra is like a fountain.
4. Sutra means moderation: In the past, a carpenter or a stoneworker, took the ink line as a standard. From the ink cartridge pull out the ink line and then poke the ink line once, the ink on the line prints on wood or stone, a straight line appears. Sutras are like that and are similar to compasses and squares used to guide people.
5. Sutra means colon: The flowers form a corolla. The same is true of the teachings that are linked together in the scriptures.
In addition, the Sutra also means "To take care of" or to link together, that is, how many of the main meanings the Buddha taught are strung together in the Sutra. Again means "Reception", ie the Sutra of receptive sentient beings to be taught. Again, the Sutra is the "method"; Since ancient times, everyone has used this method to practice, so calling the Sutra is a kind of method. Sutra also means "permanent" because the Sutra is permanent and does not change, not even a single word can be added or subtracted, and the heavenly demons cannot be destroyed. The Sutra is a straight shortcut, the path of a cultivator, anyone who goes anywhere must follow that path; For example, if you want to go to New York, you need to go east, if you go straight to the west, you can't get there. In line with this principle, in order to become a Buddha, one must follow the path of becoming a Buddha. otherwise, even going back and forth, there is no way to Buddhahood. The Sutra is a standard textbook, book, and manual on which to practice cultivation. There are sutras explaining worldly (worldly) solutions. The Sutra is a great dictionary, any doctrine can be found in this Great Dictionary, any word that is not well understood can be found here. Sutra is also the necessary right breath of every human being; If a person does not breathe anymore, it is close to death. The Sutra is the true air in the void, studying the Sutra means taking a breath of fresh air, no one can separate the fresh air. "If I don't study Buddhism and Buddhist scriptures, will I not be able to breathe this air?" -If air is usually in the void, whether we study or not study, the air is still there. Besides, between people and people, there is often an exchange of air with each other. Buddhist learners breathe in the fresh air that together with other people have a mutual relationship, so that the other person also indirectly receives the influence. In addition, the Sutra is also a spiritual food. When you are sad or unhappy, when you recite a Sutra, your spirit will immediately feel refreshed, all sorrow will be dissipated, but your mind will be relaxed and you will be able to communicate without hindrance. .
Kinh is the common name. Amitabha is a proper name. A proper name is a name that only one sutra has, and another that does not. The Buddha's scriptures are the property of the Buddha, leaving many immeasurable and boundless, but generally not outside of seven types. Sutra is also a kind of name.
Like India, there are four different classes of castes, each with a special name, such as the Brahmins, the Sassadores, the Thudalas, the Chien-dalas; Humanity also has many varieties: yellow, white, red, black... Sutras can be divided into seven types of propositions as follows:
1. Only set up topics according to people: Only take people as the name of the Sutra, like "Buddha's theory of Amitabha Sutra". Buddha is a person, Amitabha is also a person, a witness is talking about a person who has attained fruition. So it is classified as talking only about people. This is to use two results as the name of the Sutra.
2. Only set up the subject according to the law: Only take the French as the name of the Sutra, like "Nirvana Sutra". Nirvana is the law of birth and death, using this to represent the name of the Sutra.
3. Just set up the topic according to the example: Only use parables to explain the wondrous truths of the Sutras. If you say it straight, there is no way to understand it, so you can use an example to explain it to understand, like "Pham Vong Kinh". Pham hammock is the net of Dai Pham Thien Vuong. Mesh woven with very precious material. The special feature of this net is that on each mesh there is a jewel bead. Those jewels are night pearls that are brighter than electric lights. Each jewel shines another jewel, each light shines on each other, each mesh is interconnected, the light shines on each other but does not conflict with each other. That light does not envy a light that shines like me. It's not just about giving light to yourself, but not letting others glow. Between people, there may be times of disagreement; but between light and light there is no conflict and no opposition. This sutra uses the Brahma net as an example. Each precept in the Sutra is like a jewel emitting light. Those who have gone forth from home to take refuge in the Three Jewels keep their precepts pure, do not move their minds against objects, can go beyond things and be purified, just like the treasure net of Great Brahma.
4. Set up the subject according to the person and the law: Like "Van Thu Manh Bat Nha Sutra". Manjushri is a great wise man, the most intelligent of the bodhisattvas. Only the most intelligent Bodhisattva can ask the greatest wisdom Prajna Dharma.
5. Set up a topic according to people and examples: Like "The Tathagata of a Lion Roaring". The Tathagata speaks the Dharma like a roaring Lion. The lion is the king of the beasts, and once he roars, the hundreds of animals are afraid, so he says:
The lion roared, speaking fearlessly
Hundreds of animals have their brains broken when they hear it
The statue of incense ran away and lost its dignity
The heavens and dragons listened to the birth and rejoiced.
Even though they belong to a large animal, listening to the Dharma King speak, they have to hide their tails and run away, losing their daily dignity. The gods and dragons, hearing this dharma, are quiet, joyfully praising and rejoicing.
6. Set up the subject according to the law and example: Like "Dharma Lotus Flower Sutra". The wonderful Dharma is the Dharma, the Lotus Flower is the simile, so it is said that according to the Dharma and the example.
7. Set up a topic with all people, dharmas and examples: Like "Dai Phuong Quang Buddha Hoa Nghiem Sutra". The great Dharma is the great Dharma to become a Buddha, the Buddha is the witness of the fruit, and Hoa Nghiem is an example: There are human flowers and thousands of lives, ie the result of unsurpassed and dignified virtue. The name of this sutra is full of people, dharmas and examples.
Buddha taught Amitabha Sutra, Buddha means Buddha Shakyamuni, and Amitabha Sutra is the sutra spoken by Buddha. But because sentient beings do not know that there is Amitabha Buddha, who vows to take over living beings, Buddha Shakyamuni's golden-mouthed voice is not a request but a self-talk.
The entire Canon of Buddhism together has twelve volumes:
1. The Ministry of Truong Hang : In the middle of a scripture, there is no break, so it is called Truong Hang.
2. Set of Recitation: Repeating the meaning said in the Sutra; repeat the text of Kinh Truong Hang for easy memorization.
3. The set of predictions: In the scriptures mentioning that the previous Buddha predicted for the following Buddha, for example, he said: "What is his name in a certain life when he will become a Buddha? How long is the lifespan? How can sentient beings teach more or less? In front of which country?…” are all foreshadowing, which is called Tho Ky.
4. The set of predestined conditions: Due to the predestined things that say the French things.
5. The Example: Use a certain thing, an example for a certain thing to explain the mysterious place of the Buddha Dharma.
6. The Ministry of Affairs: Either Buddha Shakyamuni narrates his predecessors, or narrates the predecessors of a certain Buddha or a bodhisattva.
7. The Origin of Birth: Talk about the life story of Shakyamuni Buddha, or the life of a certain Bodhisattva.
8. Department of Methods: Phuong is the four directions, Quang is widespread, indicating that the Dharma is said to be very sophisticated and vast.
9. The Ministry of Friends : These things have never been said before or are being said now.
10. The Ministry of Self-Speaking: Like the Amitabha Sutra, because this Sutra is very important, all the shravakas cannot understand it, even the Bodhisattvas have not been able to reach this realm. , so that the Buddha himself released light that shook the land to speak this Sutra.
Usually, people think that the practice of reciting the Buddha's name is for old women, and wise people don't need it, this is a very wrong idea. If we don't recite the Buddha's name, we will always have false thoughts, from thinking East to West to thinking South to North, to thinking about the North, to wandering thoughts, to thinking about sensual pleasures, what can we use? Mindfulness of Buddha can eliminate these delusions. If there is a moment of reciting the Buddha's name, there is a moment of not thinking, until from morning to night, when reciting and reciting without leaving the Buddha, there will be no false thoughts on that day. The illusion that does not arise is the Magical Law, so reciting the Buddha's name can treat diseases such as delusion, confusion, greed, hatred, and delusion.
One sentence Amitabha: ten thousand dharma kings
Five times, eight clear teachings
Behaviour is only specialized in mindfulness
Will enter President Quang immobile.
I wrote this verse when I was seventeen years old. Reciting the Buddha's name can stop the madness of the mind, so this Sutra is the highest realm. Bodhisattvas can't ask questions, because they don't know the subtlety of reciting the Buddha's name, so the Buddha didn't wait to ask questions but spoke for himself. out this wondrous Dharma. Then ask yourself, is it a wonderful Dharma door? -That's right, all of them are magical and profound methods!
11. Department of Co-starter: Also called Phung Chan. In a Sutra, these are verses that stand alone, have nothing to do with the previous or subsequent texts, or speak separately of morality, like the Vajra Sutra.
12. The Discourse: Research on the meaning of a kind of Buddha Dharma.
There is a verse about the above twelve sets as follows:
Long-term, Duplicate and Tho signed,
She started, Without question, she taught herself,
Benevolence, Example with the Bodhisattva,
Original birth, Phuong Quang, Tang friend,
The thesis adds up to twelve sets.
The original intention of this Sutra is to teach people to recite Amitabha Buddha. Why recite Amitabha Buddha? Because Amitabha Buddha has great conditions for all sentient beings in the ten directions. Amitabha Buddha when he was still in the position of a practitioner (before becoming a Buddha, when he was in the human realm, he was called Phap Tang Bhikkhu), he once made forty-eight great vows, each one wanting to save him. All sentient beings become Buddhas, and make this great vow: "All sentient beings in the ten directions, after I become a Buddha, if anyone constantly recites my name, they will all be able to become Buddhas. If those people don't become Buddha, I won't become Buddha either." As Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara said in the Great Compassionate Heart Dharani Sutra: "World-Honored One! If sentient beings recite the mantra of Great Compassion and fall into the three evil paths, I swear I will not attain Perfect Enlightenment. One who recites the mantra of Great Compassion, If I do not have limitless samadhi arguments, then I swear I will not attain Perfect Enlightenment. Those who recite the mantra of Great Compassion, but in the present life with all their wishes, if they are not satisfied, are not the Great Compassionate Dharani."
Amitabha Buddha, by virtue of his great compassion and great vow, like a magnet that attracts iron, captures all sentient beings in the ten directions into his Pure Land, if a living being has not yet received his life, Amitabha Buddha also vowed not to become a Buddha. The Dharma-door of reciting Buddha's name is: "Three roots are all over the world, and benefits are included." Anyone who recites and recites the Buddha's name can become a Buddha. The three roots are only the three good roots, upper, middle and lower. No matter whether people of good roots are smart, ordinary, even stupid, as long as they recite the Buddha's name often, they can be reborn in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. what's fun, being in a lotus flower falls as a human being, not like being born in the human world from a mother's womb.
Someone said: "Can you really become a Buddha by reciting the Buddha's name? I do not believe. How can it be so easy?” One can become a Buddha by reciting Buddha's name because of the power of Amitabha Buddha's great vow, not to say that they don't believe it. Amitabha Buddha once assured that: "After I become a Buddha, as long as you recite my name, you will also become a Buddha". Therefore, anyone who recites Buddha's name can become a Buddha. Reciting Buddha's name is also cultivating good roots.
Once there was an old man about ninety years old, so old that he couldn't walk, didn't know when he would die, so he wanted to leave home a little early, because he thought it was easy to leave home. be able to leave home immediately. When he arrived at Ky Hoan Vihara, it was at the time when the Buddha left to deliver his son. At that time, there were many disciples of the Buddha who had attained arahantship, so using the celestial eye to observe this old man's predestined conditions, he knew that he had never planted any good roots in eighty thousand aeons. , so he was not allowed to leave home. Hence the sentence:
Don't say it's easy to leave home,
It must be due to many lifetimes of cultivating good roots.
Don't let it be very easy, because it's not that simple. The old man applied for ordination, was rejected, and was unhappy in his heart: "It was easy for me to ordained, but it turned out to be so difficult?" So the mind was sad, wanted to jump into the Ganges to die, fortunately the Buddha was far away and asked why. The old man replied:
"It's no use for me to live, Buddha is not at home, Buddha's disciples won't let me leave home. If I want to work as a hired hand, no one will call me, so it's better to die! (Definitely no pension then, if so, this old man wouldn't want to commit suicide.)
Buddha said to comfort him: "You don't have to jump into the river, I will take you as a disciple."
The old man asked, "Who are you to have that right?"
-I am Shakyamuni Buddha, I take you as a disciple, my disciples will not object.
When the old man heard about it, he wiped away his tears with joy and followed the Buddha back and took the precepts down his hair. After listening to the Buddha's teachings, he immediately realized the preliminary results.
Why was he able to attest to the Sequence? – Because he wanted to die before, but now that death is overcome. Because at first he did not satisfy his desire to become a monk, he had the idea of jumping into the river to commit suicide, but now that he is ordained, there is no need to jump into the river anymore, even if he is already dead, what else is there? Can't quit anymore? At that time, the great self at that time proved the results. This made the great Arahants doubt: "If there is no good root, how can one realize the result?" They then bowed to the Buddha's feet and asked about this reason. Buddha said: "You Arahants can only see within eighty thousand aeons this old man has no good roots, but you cannot see things beyond eighty thousand aeons. This old man before eighty thousand aeons was a woodcutter, one day he went to the mountain to cut wood, met a tiger, and hurriedly climbed a tree to hide, this tiger ran very fast, but he climbed the tree not too slowly, thinking that after climbing the tree he would escape. Unexpectedly, this tiger is very smart, it began to scrape with its teeth on the trunk, the trunk of the tree is large, but the tiger has very sharp teeth, scraping this side a piece, scraping the other side, soon scraping. half of the trunk. The woodcutter was afraid of losing his astral soul, seeing that his life was like a thousand pounds hanging by a hair, suddenly remembered the Buddha, and shouted loudly: "Namo Buddha!" The loud chanting of Buddha's name made our tigers so afraid that they hung their tails and ran away. But after that, the woodcutter lost his memory of reciting the Buddha's name, and for eighty thousand aeons, he had not planted any good roots, but the goodness he had sown had matured until now, so he met him. This is the predestined ordination of this old man, so it is possible to know that leaving home is not an arbitrary thing. There are some people who often say, "I want to go forth!" But those who say this are still at home, that's because their good roots are not yet mature. Today, a bhikkhuni came here, she ordained in Malaka (Malaysia), and was ordained in Japan, just listen to her say that she received sixteen and eighteen precepts. But I also don't know what gender it is? She later accepted more than a hundred male disciples. According to the rules of the Great Enlightenment in China, men only take refuge with male masters, but cannot respect women as teachers. Currently I have five American bhikkhus and nuns who are about to receive full ordination, but I have not observed in eighty thousand aeons whether they have good roots or not? After going through a survey, I gave them full ordination. I just see that they have changed a lot of trivial habits, they are no longer smoking, drinking, taking drugs; however, after taking refuge, they still break the precept to smoke, and then change again, so temporarily giving them a chance to convert. The time limit should be at least one year for follow-up. In the past, the teacher who accepted the disciple had to follow his disciple for three years, the disciple had to study with the Master for three years, adding up for a total of six years, and then he was considered eligible for ordination. But now is the atomic age, one year is enough. then it is considered suitable for renunciation. But now is the atomic age, one year is enough. then it is considered suitable for renunciation. But now is the atomic age, one year is enough.
Someone asked: "Have these five monastics in eighty thousand aeons planted good roots?" - They recited the Great Compassion Mantra, recited the Buddha's name, and worshiped in one year. They had planted a lot of good roots and were destined to become Buddhas in the future, so they promised to leave home. The reason the person who has planted a good root needs to cherish and preserve it carefully, do not let it be lost. Don't be like the wrong behavior of the bhikkhuni mentioned above.
The following are the five layers of mysticism of the Thien Thai school:
1. Like the name: Knowing the new name can follow the name to think of the meaning, and then understand its morality accordingly. Therefore, to study the Sutra, you must first know the name of the Sutra. As everyone must have a name, that's why people have different names, some people call it Truong Tam, some people call it Ly Tu...
2. Expression: After knowing the name, it is necessary to know how the person's body is, how tall, thin, and fat? If you don't know it, it's like knowing a person's name and form, but only seeing his back but not his face, so he has to show his body first.
3. Minh Tong: To be clear about the essence, it must be clear about the identity. If the identity is not clear, it is impossible to understand the meaning, such as what occupation a person has.
4. Application: Use is to take advantage.
5. Judgment: Criticism of other private signs of the Sutra.END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).BUDDHIST DHARMA WHEEL GOLDEN MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.25/10/2021.
