Evil Devil asked the Buddha to pass away Nirvana.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH.
Evil Devil asked the Buddha to pass away Nirvana
When the Venerable Ānanda had just gone out, Mara Mara immediately approached the Blessed One, then stood in a reasonable place and said:
- Dear World-Honored One, respectfully request the Buddha to pass away from Nirvana, respectfully request the Buddha to pass away from Nirvana right now. Now is the time to pass away Nirvana of the Blessed One.
In fact, Alma Thien has repeatedly come to request the Buddha to pass away Nirvana, the previous times, the World-Honored One has refused. But this time, the Blessed One promised Alma:
- Hey Evil-Mage! Don't worry, it won't be long before the Tathagata will pass away Nirvana. From now on, in just three months, the Tathagata will pass away from Nirvana.
Thus, the World-Honored One, having clear wisdom, determined that in three months' time he would discharge his lifespan and life-life at the Cāpālacetiya stupa, right on the full moon day of the first month (lunar year). calendar).
At that moment, the earth shuddered in such unprecedented motion. Seeing this strange thing, the earth shook, so the Elder Ānanda went to the Blessed One and said:
- Dear World-Honored One, what causes the earth to shake? White Sir.
The Blessed One taught that:
- Hey, Ananda! Just this very day, just now, the Tathagata of wisdom and discernment promised Marathi, saying:
"Only three more months and the Tathagata will pass away from Nirvana."
Hearing this instruction from the Blessed One, the Elder Ānanda respectfully requested that:
- Dear World-Honored One, I respectfully request the Blessed One to maintain a lifetime of life (100 years).
I respectfully request the World-Honored One to maintain a lifetime of life, to save the majority of sentient beings, to bring benefit, evolution, and happiness to the majority of beings, to bring benefit, evolution, and well-being for gods and humans.
The Blessed One taught that:
- Hey, Ananda! You should not ask the Tathagata anymore. Now is not the time to request the Tathagata. The Tathagata has indirectly taught me many times but I still do not understand, I have no request to the Tathagata.
Now, the Tathagata has already made a promise to the Evil One, and it cannot be otherwise.
Seeing the Venerable Ānanda suffering infinitely, because he regretted his negligence, the Blessed One comforted Venerable Ānanda by saying:
- Hey, Ananda! The Tathagata once taught that:
“Living apart from each other, dying separate from those dear and beloved ones. That is the obvious.
Therefore, those dear ones, those dear ones, how can they comply with their wishes.
Those dharmas that have already arisen, already come into being, are conditioned by causes and conditions, inevitably have their cessation, their destruction is permanent, even if one wishes that:
"Please don't destroy it, don't destroy it, it's impossible."
- Hey, Ananda! The Tathagata and I went to the Kuṭāgāra lecture hall in that great forest.
Venerable Ānanda followed the Blessed One to the Kuṭāgāra lecture hall. At that time, the Blessed One taught that:
- Hey, Ananda! You should go and invite all the bhikkhus in the city of Vesālī to gather at the Upaṭṭhāna lecture hall.
Obeying the Buddha's instructions, the Elder Ānanda went to invite the monks to gather in the auditorium.

- O monks!
The Tathagata's age is already old.
The Tathagata's life is short,
The Tathagata will bid you farewell.
The Tathagata will pass away Nirvana,
It is your own refuge.
- How pitiful, bhikkhus!
You are not easy to take,
Having complete purity of morality,
Always have mindfulness and alertness,
Having concentration, right thinking,
Take care of your mind.

Not to be lazy, always with righteous thoughts,
Realization of Nirvana, the cessation of suffering,
