45. Little Sutra of Dharma Practice.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH.
(Cùladhammasamàdàna sutta)
Like this I hear.
Once the Blessed One was in Savatthi, at Jetavana, in Anathapindika's vihara. Then the Blessed One called the bhikkhus:
-- Hey, monks!
-- Yes, venerable sir.
Those bhikkhus obeyed the Blessed One. The Blessed One preached as follows:
-- Monks, there are these four kinds of practice. how is four? Monks, there is a kind of practice that is pleasurable in the present, and results in suffering in the future. Monks, there is this kind of practice that is painful in the present and the retribution in the future is also painful. Monks, there is this kind of practice that is painful in the present, with pleasant results in the future. There is, bhikkhus, a kind of practice that is pleasurable in the present, and also in the future with its retribution.
What, bhikkhus, is the present practice of dharma, which results in suffering in the future? Monks, there are some contemplatives who speak as follows, having the following view: "There is no fault in sensual pleasures". They indulged in sensual pleasures, enjoying themselves with wandering girls whose hair was wrapped around their heads. They said as follows: "How can the venerable recluses and brahmins see the fear of the future of sensual pleasures, speak of the cessation of sensual pleasures, and give rise to the knowledge of sensual pleasures. Pleasure. rather, the touch of the fluffy hands of these young vagabonds!" After immersing themselves in sensual pleasures, when the body breaks up, after death, they must be reborn in an evil realm, an evil destination, a lower realm, and a hell. Here, they experience painful, painful, intense feelings. They said as follows: "These venerable ascetics and brahmins see fear in the future of sensual pleasures, speaking of the cessation of sensual pleasures, raise the understanding of the desires. But we, with these desires as the cause, and with these desires as the conditions, have to experience painful, painful, and severe feelings."
Suppose, bhikkhus, at the end of the hot season, a sheath of vine seeds splits open and, bhikkhus, a vine seed falls under a sala tree. Monks, the gods on that sala tree were afraid, trembling, and frightened. Friends, relatives, blood relatives of the gods on that sala tree, the gods of the garden, the gods of the forest, the gods of trees, the gods of herbs, grass, and the forest gathered together to comfort them as follows: "O Venerable, don't do this. Fear not, venerable sir! Because of that seed, the gorilla can swallow it, the deer can eat it, the forest fire can burn it, the forester can pick it up, and the termites can eat it. , or the seed may not germinate". But, bhikkhus, this seed is not swallowed by a gorilla, a deer does not eat it, a forest fire does not burn it, a forest worker does not pick it up, termites do not eat it, and the seed can germinate. With heavy rain thanks to the clouds in season, that seed was grown, and a young, soft, hairy vine slowly grew and adhered to the sala tree. Monks, the gods on that sala tree thought as follows: "I don't understand why these monks, friends, relatives, garden gods, forest gods, tree gods, deities on herbs, grass, and forests, seeing fear in the future in the seed, gathered together and consoled them as follows: "Do not be afraid, venerable sir! O Venerable, have no fear! Because of that seed, the gorilla can swallow it, the deer can eat it, the forest fire can burn it, the foresters can pick it up, the termites can eat it, or the seed might not germinate." Pleasure to the touch of a soft, hairy young vine clinging to it!" That creeper can cover that sala tree and, once covered, make a canopy over that tree, and below arose a dense grove of trees. When an entire grove of trees emerges below, the large branches of that sala tree can be strangled. Then, bhikkhus, the deities residing on that sala tree thought thus: "It is because of this fear of the future, in the seed of that creeper, that venerable ones, friends, relatives, and relatives by bloodline. At that time, the gods of the garden, the gods of the forest, the gods of the trees, the gods of the herbs, the grass, and the forest, gathered together and comforted them as follows: "Do not be afraid, venerable sir! O Venerable, do not be afraid! Because of that seed, the gorilla can swallow it, the deer can eat it, the forest fire can burn it, the foresters can pick it up, the termites can eat it, or the seed might not germinate." And now I, for the cause of the vines seed, experience painful, painful, and fierce feelings." The large branches of that sala tree can be strangled. Because of that seed, the gorilla can swallow it, the deer can eat it, the forest fire can burn it, the foresters can pick it up, the termites can eat it, or the seed might not germinate." And now I, for the cause of the vines seed, experience painful, painful, and fierce feelings." It is because of this fear of the future, in that creeping seed, that these venerable ones, close friends, relatives, garden gods, forest gods, tree gods, gods on herbs , grass, forest, gathered together and consoled as follows: "Do not be afraid, venerable sir! Venerable, do not be afraid! Because of that seed, the magpie can swallow, the deer can eat, Wildfires can burn, foresters can pick them up, termites can eat them, or seeds can't germinate." And now I, for the cause of the vines seed, experience painful, painful, and fierce feelings." It is because of this fear of the future, in that creeping seed, that these venerable ones, close friends, relatives, garden gods, forest gods, tree gods, gods on herbs , grass, forest, gathered together and consoled as follows: "Do not be afraid, venerable sir! Venerable, do not be afraid! Because of that seed, the magpie can swallow, the deer can eat, Wildfires can burn, foresters can pick them up, termites can eat them, or seeds can't germinate." And now I, for the cause of the vines seed, experience painful, painful, and fierce feelings."
In the same way, bhikkhus, there are some ascetics and brahmins who speak as follows, having the following view: 'There is no fault in sensual pleasures'. These people indulge in sensual pleasures, they delight in wandering girls with their hair wrapped around their heads. They said as follows: "How can those venerable ascetics and brahmins see the fear of the future of sensual pleasures, speak of the cessation of sensual pleasures, and expound the knowledge of sensual pleasures. rather, the touch of this young vagabond's fluffy hand!" After immersing themselves in sensual pleasures, when the body breaks up, after death, they must be reborn in an evil realm, an evil destination, a lower realm, and a hell. Here, they experience painful, painful, intense feelings. They said as follows: "The venerable recluses and brahmins see the fear of the future of sensual pleasures, speak of the cessation of sensual pleasures, and raise the understanding of sensual pleasures. But we, for the sake of these desires,
What, bhikkhus, is the practice of the present suffering and the retribution also suffering in the future? Here, bhikkhus, there is a person who lives a naked life, lives a licentious life, does not follow etiquette, licks his hands clean, goes for alms round, refuses to step forward, goes for alms round, refuses to stop, does not accept food brought. come, do not accept specially cooked food, do not accept invitations to eat, do not accept food from pots and pans, do not accept food placed in the doorway, do not accept food placed between sticks, do not accept food placed between rice mills, do not accept food from two people eating, do not accept food from a pregnant woman, do not accept food from a nursing woman, do not accept food from a pregnant woman. have intercourse, do not accept food donated, do not accept food on the spot with standing dogs, do not accept food on the spot with flies, do not eat fish, eat meat, do not drink cooked wine, yeast, bran porridge. He accepts only one meal, only one piece, or he only receives food from two houses, only two pieces, or he only receives food in seven houses, he accepts only seven pieces. He feeds on only one bowl, feeds on only two bowls, feeds on only seven bowls. He only eats one meal a day, two meals a day, seven days a meal. Thus he lives according to the practice of abstinence until half a month to eat only once. He eats only rice grass for his living, sorghum, brown rice, nivara mustard seeds, shredded skin, bran, rice flour water, sesame paste, grass, cow dung, fruit, and roots. in the forest, eat fallen fruit to live. He is clothed in coarse linen, in coarse linen mixed with other cloths, in linen cloths thrown away, in powdered linen robes, in tikitaka bark as a robe, in the skin of a black chamois, in a garment of braided leather. black chamois, clothed with auspicious grass, clothed with bark, clothed with clapboard, a coat of hair braided into a blanket, a coat of a braided ponytail, and a coat of owl feathers. He is a person who lives by plucking beards and hairs, one who practices the practice of plucking beards and hairs, one who follows the practice of standing without using a seat, one who sits down, one who lives diligently by sitting down, one who uses thorns. make a bed, often sleep on a bed of thorns, live using wooden planks as a bed, live on the bare ground, often sleep on one side, live to let dust and dirt hide their bodies, live and sleep outdoors, according to the book lying there, living by eating unclean things, by eating unclean things, by not drinking cold water, by not drinking cold water, by taking a bath three times a night, by going into the water to bathe (to wash away sins). Thus, he lives by torture of the body in such many forms. He, after the breakup of the body, after death, must be reborn in an evil realm, in a bad destination, in a lower realm. hell. Thus, bhikkhus, it is called the practice of the present suffering and the retribution in the future also suffering.
What, bhikkhus, is the practice of suffering in the present, and the result of happiness in the future? Here, the Male-stilts, there are self-nature born too heavy on craving, always feel the feeling of pain and suffering due to craving born; There are people who are born too heavy on anger and self-nature, and always feel the feelings of pain and sorrow due to anger; There are people who are born too heavy on delusion, always feel the feelings of suffering and pain caused by delusion. With suffering and with grief, with a face full of tears and lamentations, he lives the holy life, completely complete and pure. After the breakup of the body, after death, he is reborn in a good destination, in the heavenly world, in this world. Thus, bhikkhus, this is called the practice of suffering in the present and in the future, with its results in bliss.
How, bhikkhus, is the practice of the present pleasant and the retribution happy in the future? Here, the Male-stilts, there are self-nature born not too heavy on craving, do not always feel the feelings of pain and suffering due to craving born; Some people are born with a self-nature that is not too heavy on anger, does not always feel the feelings of pain and suffering due to anger; Some people are born with their own nature not too heavy on delusion, and do not always experience the painful and painful feelings born of delusion. He is away from sex, away from the unwholesome evidence and stays in the first Zen, a state of bliss due to the separation of sex, having a range of four; kill the game and four, witness and stay in the second Zen, a state of bliss due to birth, no search, no four, one-pointed inner calm; separation of joy and discharge, mindfulness of awareness, body and feeling of pleasure, which the Saints call discharge, peace and happiness, and the third meditation; equanimity and relief from suffering, the cessation of joy and grief that have been felt before, realize and abide in the fourth meditation, without suffering, without pleasure, with pure mindfulness. After the breakup of the body, after death, he is reborn in a good destination, in the heavenly world, in this world. Thus, bhikkhus, the practice is called pleasant in the present and in the future the result is also pleasant. This, bhikkhus, are the four kinds of practice.
Thus the Blessed One preached. Those bhikkhus rejoiced and believed in the Blessed One's words.END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).BUDDHIST DHARMA WHEEL GOLDEN MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.21/9/2021.
