After hearing the Blessed One, the bhikkhus will practice. -- So, bhikkhus, listen and be attentive, I will speak. -- Yes, venerable sir. Those bhikkhus obeyed the Blessed One. The Blessed One preached as follows: -- Monks, a monk who wants to know the behavior of others should inquire about the Tathagata on two kinds of dharmas: dharmas cognizable by the eyes and ears, thinking: 'Things Defilements cognizable by the eyes and ears, do these things arise in the Tathagata or not?" Having inquired thus, the bhikkhu was known as follows: "Those tainted dharmas are perceived by the eyes and ears; they do not arise in the Tathagata." After investigating thus and knowing as follows: "Those tainted dharmas are perceived by the eyes and ears; they do not appear in the Tathagata". He further inquired: "Those mixed dharmas (when infected when purified) are perceived by the eyes and ears; do these things arise in the Tathagata or do they not arise?" After such investigation and the bhikkhu-stilts know as follows: "The dharmas cognizable by the eyes and ears, those dharmas do not appear in the Tathagata". After investigating thus, he came to know the following: "The various dharmas cognizable by the eyes and ears; such dhammas do not arise in the Tathagata." He further sought: "Those dharmas that are completely pure, cognizable by the eyes and ears; do these things arise in the Tathagata or do they not arise?" Having inquired thus, the bhikkhu-stilts knew as follows: "Those dhammas which are completely pure, cognized by the eyes and ears, do arise in the Tathagata." After doing this investigation, he came to know as follows: "Those dharmas which are completely pure are cognizable by the eyes and ears; they do arise in the Tathagata." He inquired further: "Is this venerable master accomplished in this good dharma for a long time or for a short time?" After doing so, the bhikkhu knew the following: "This venerable master has accomplished this dhamma for a long time, this venerable monk has accomplished this dhamma not in a short time." . After doing so, he learned the following: "This venerable master has accomplished this dhamma for a long time, this venerable master has accomplished this dhamma not in a short time". He inquired further: "This venerable bhikkhu-stilt, when he has a name, does some danger arise for him here?" Monks, some dangers do not arise here for a bhikkhu, when he is not yet known, not yet famous. When, bhikkhus, that bhikkhu is well known and famous, certain dangers may arise here for him. Thus I heard before the Blessed One, so I knew before the Blessed One: "I renounced by fearlessness, I did not give up out of fear. Here, bhikkhus, the Tathagata should be further asked as follows: "Are afflicted dhammas cognizable by the eyes and ears; do they arise in the Tathagata or do they not arise?" When asked thus, the Tathagata will answer as follows: "Defilements are perceived by the eyes and ears; they do not arise in the Tathagata." If asked: "The dharmas that are perceived by the eyes and ears, do they arise in the Tathagata or do they not arise?" When asked thus, bhikkhus, the Tathagata will answer as follows: "Those dharmas perceived by the eyes and ears do not arise in the Tathagata." If asked: "Those dharmas that are completely pure are cognizable by the eyes and ears; do these things arise in the Tathagata or do they not arise?" When asked thus, bhikkhus, the Tathagata replied as follows: "Those dhammas which are perfectly pure are cognizable by the eyes and ears; they do arise in the Tathagata.
