THE BUDDHA'S THE Eight Great Humans (part 2). The Dharma destiny of Buddha Shakyamuni is only 12,000 years old. Now is the Dharma-ending age. The [period of] the end of the Dharma is 10,000 years, now 1000 years have passed, and there are 9000 years left. So a lot of religions talk about the end of the world, our Buddhism does not have the end of the world, but Buddhism says there is a great tribulation. What is this disaster? Big three ears or small three ears? I think this tribulation must be minor triad. The minor trilogy includes the tribulation, plague, hunger and thirst. In the past, when I studied the sutras, listened to the teacher talk about the minor three ears, saw in the old monk's notes about the minor three ears, I had no way of explaining it, I really couldn't think of it. You try, this world of ours has gone through the first world war, and the second world war. Being in this saber-warrior life of the minor three ears does not count as a saber-warrior life. How long does the life of the small three ears last? The scriptures tell us that it is seven days and seven nights. I don't understand. Next after the life of the warrior, there will be a plague of seven months and seven days. After the plague is over, there will be seven years, seven months, and seven days of hunger and thirst. This is in the sutras, we have no way of explaining it. I went to Japan for the first time, accompanied by the shaman Dao An. That year, when Ta Dang Vinh became prime minister, I went to his family to pay respects. His son Ta Dang Tin Nhi welcomed me. Having such an opportunity, I went to Hiroshima and Nagasaki to visit. As soon as I saw the situation after the atomic bomb exploded, I suddenly understood. Small three ears that in the Buddhist scriptures say nuclear war. People living in Hyroshima told me (we went to the museum, saw some pictures), they told me: “After the nuclear bomb exploded, the plague was radioactive dust. Although there was no death at that time, after being irradiated by radioactive dust, its lifespan is roughly half a year (in the Buddhist scriptures it says 7 months and 7 days). After that, the whole area could not grow plants and trees.” By the time I got there, it was probably my ninth year, and grass was just starting to grow on the ground. They told me this year on the ground new grass, new small trees. Seven - eight years on the land where plants do not grow, then of course hunger and thirst. Only then did I understand that the World-Honored One said the third great nuclear war was called the minor three ears. In the scriptures of other religions, it is called the end of the world, and in Buddhism, it is called the mini tam tai. Let's think about it, at present it is very likely to happen. so this is what really makes people feel insecure. But if a true Buddhist student often meditates on contentment, this fear will no longer exist. Why so? Even if the nuclear bomb explodes, we will also consider it not, we take this opportunity to immediately be reborn in the world of Ultimate Bliss, have a good place to go, and decide not to have a shred of attachment to this world. But those who do not study Buddhism, those who do not practice Pure Land, that tribulation is serious. They certainly hold resentment, and when will this kind of injustice between people, between people and all animals, between people and all ghosts and gods end? So thinking about this place, seeing this accident is so scary, so scary, not for a lifetime, but for eternity. This we cannot fail to perceive. So "often mindful of contentment", This practice is the most important of all. Modern society, since the September 11 events in New York, USA last year, the whole world has felt serious conflicts. So there are many schools, some experts and scholars are studying how to eliminate conflict, promote peace. Kunsi Lan University, Australia ranks this course in the most important position. We read this passage today, this passage has already told the cause of it. What is the cause of the conflict? "The mind is not full of care, only attaining many needs", all sentient beings inside and outside are in conflict, Buddha just said one sentence out loud. How to resolve this conflict? Buddha in this place teaches us to "often mindful of tri-enrichment, peace and prosperity", then all of our internal and external conflicts will be resolved immediately, stability, peace, prosperity, prosperity of the world is not difficult to come true. If this conflict is not resolved, we see the third world war, this war, the scientist tells us, on this earth will be the apocalyptic war. I heard people say to me, Einstein once said: "The fourth world war, the weapons at that time were sticks and stones". What do you think that means? All human civilizations were completely destroyed in this great war, so we had to start from the beginning with sticks and stones. Tell me how scary this phenomenon is! In this world, there are indeed many philanthropists who are extremely worried. Yesterday afternoon there was a young scholar from Tokyo, he is also a peace worker and has also worked for many years. This scholar is a university professor, a longtime professor of Kunsi Lan University, introduce awareness to me. He does this work in Japan. Yesterday we also talked for a long time, in the end, what methods should be used to effectively prevent conflicts and promote peace? The scriptures are very good! Therefore, Dr. Thang En Si of England said: "To solve the social problems of the 21st century, there is only Confucianism and Mahayana Buddhism." This is true wisdom, education, vision, initiative. We are in the Buddhist scriptures, no matter what kind of sutras it is, if you really understand the teachings, if you can serve them and disseminate them, then you can really help the sentient beings in the world who are suffering. This tribulation, can help them resolve conflicts, bring peace and happiness. "Frequently reciting tri-sense, keeping the path of poverty, maintaining wisdom of business". What the bodhisattva wishes for is the study of the three precepts, concentration and wisdom, what sentient beings in the world wish for is greed, hatred, and delusion. The bodhisattva is the complete opposite of them. Bodhisattvas let go of greed, hatred, and delusion, and pursue with one heart and one mind, concentration and wisdom. 4.5 Quaternary trigonometry The scriptures: "Quaternary awareness, debauchery, often diligent efforts, breaking evil afflictions, submissive to the four ghosts, uttering hell". The World-Honored One here reminds us: "debauchery". We must remember this word very carefully. The leading factor of devastation is entertainment, so the Buddha in the suttas speaks to us of good roots, in the world's dharmas there are three things, called the three wholesome roots: no greed, no anger, no si. All kusala dhammas in the world are born from these three roots. The bodhisattva's good root in the world has only one, and that is diligence. Effort is the only good root of the Bodhisattva. In other words, Diligence is the reverse side of diligence, entertainment leads to fall, diligence leads to sublimation, this is a sure principle. Diligence and diligence have two opposite sides, in Buddhism we speak of good and evil. Worldly people are in the six paths, especially sentient beings in the Three Paths, they are extremely diligent in regard to evil dharmas, indeed there is not the slightest bit of laziness, but when it comes to good dharmas, they are completely negligent. yes, lazy. Therefore, the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, the sages and sages, teach us, tell us to be diligent in all good dharmas and we should be lazy in all bad dharmas. What is Dharma? Ethical, humane, we must be courageous and diligent. What is Dao? Tao is a natural law, a principle, a natural principle. If it is according to the laws of nature, this is called the practice of the Way. Applied in our daily life activities, Confucianism said that morality is always the great way, completely obeying the laws of nature. The first is husband and wife. Let's try to see the reality in this world, the husband and wife religion no longer exists. Try to see how high the divorce rate is in each locality! There is a serious conflict between husband and wife, most often it is property. The property of the husband and wife is not known, hidden from the wife, the property of the wife is hidden from the husband, each person has the right to privacy. If you have the right to privacy, the great morality will be destroyed immediately! This privacy is the conflict, between people and people, even husband and wife, father and son cannot face each other honestly, they are all using a false mind, a cover-up mind, a deceitful mind. You say try this world, how can you not get into trouble! Where did the tribulation come from? It's from here. Today we are very fortunate to hear the Buddhadharma. Buddha taught us, we should not only be honest with our loved ones, but we also have to treat everyone and all living beings with a sincere heart to receive them. Sincere mind is according to the dharma-nature, according to the virtue-nature, this is following the path of the Buddha and the Bodhisattva. If we give up sincerity and use a false mind to face all things, this is an evil path, this is an evil path, this is definitely perversion, we can't help but know it. How to call it the way, how to call it virtue, we must be very clear, really understand. My Tao added a few more sentences, husband and wife, father and son, brothers, my king, friends are the relationship between people, this is the normal relationship, this is the great way. Knowing these relationships, I knew I had to do my duty. We keep the mind, sincerity, purity, equality, right enlightenment, compassion. It is our duty to do our best, in this respect to be “often diligent”. That duty is virtue. Loyalty and benevolence cannot be ignored, cannot help but try to set a good example for the public to see. Being human cannot be without grace, without meaning, without loyalty. Why is it called middle? In Chinese characters, middle is the center. The mind is not deviated, there is no evil called middle. If you have a skewed mind, you have wrong thoughts, then this middle will no longer exist. Middle is virtue. Hieu has already said a lot. Filial piety is the universe, human life, land, and sentient beings are one body, this is filial piety. If you still have opposites, I am against people, I am against things, I am against things, The opposite, filial piety is no more, virtue is gone! Cultivating morality, politeness, and integrity must all be done by oneself, not scrutinizing others. Why so? People have lost their self-nature, like ourselves before, have not met the Buddhadharma, have not been close to good knowledge, we have lost our self-nature, we are indeed unfaithful and unfilial, Inhuman and unjust, disrespectful and unbelieving, shameless and shameless, we are indeed such people. After meeting the Buddhadharma, meeting good knowledge, then understand clearly, enlightened and redo life. With this single thought of turning his head, he will be protected and recited by the Buddhas, and will be supported by the good gods and dragons. The immediate retribution is to reduce afflictions, increase wisdom, this is the retribution within oneself, outside can be loved and supported by many people in the world, Everyone is welcome wherever they go, this is external retribution. The inner and outer retribution will grow according to our morality, the retribution becomes more and more hostile, you can feel it yourself. If you continue to indulge in debauchery and diligently stay in fame and gain, in the five sensual pleasures and six worlds, morality and benevolence completely eliminate debauchery, even if you have a little enjoyment in front of you, it is a blessing. material enjoyment, but the consequences later are unimaginable. We have to think about this matter carefully, we cannot help but be enlightened. The text of the second half of the paragraph: "Usually news tons". The next four sentences are the effect of diligence, the benefit of diligence. Diligence can "break evil defilements", diligence can "recover the four demons", diligence can escape the three realms of samsara. What is affliction? We must clearly understand. In the Buddhist sutras teach us, defilements disturb our body and mind, making our body and mind not peaceful, not calm. There are three major types of defilements in total. The first type is the afflictive view. Why is it called an opinion? The view is the interpretation, the thought is the thought. Your thinking is wrong, from that wrong way of thinking and looking at it, all the unwholesome things are called, so its scope is extremely large. Misunderstanding, the first is "personal view". Self-view, let's say it a little more clearly, a little rough is private interest, private interest is self-view. The second type of erroneous view is the "margin". The prejudices used today are opposites, against each other, we are against people, good versus evil, truth versus hope, even big versus small, benefit versus harm. long as opposed to short, all views of opposites are in this category, so they are called marginal views. The third type of erroneous interpretation is "opinion and prejudice", and the fourth is "prejudice and prejudice", which we can say combined is the prejudice that the Chinese often say. "That person is deeply prejudiced." Prejudice is divided into two types, one is prejudice on the cause, the other is prejudice on the effect. Prejudice is biased on the result, on the retribution, and in the precept of the prohibition is biased on the cause. These prejudices on cause and effect are both false and incorrect, so they are called disturbing views. All wrong views that do not belong to these four previous things, are referred to as a kind of "wrong view", your view is wrong, it is incorrect. Errors in thought are also of five great types. These five great categories are greed, hatred, delusion, conceit, and doubt. Doubt is that for the teachings of the sages they doubt, they cannot believe, cannot accept. Therefore, there are five kinds of error on thought, namely greed, hatred, delusion, and suspicion. Mistakes on the view of interpretation have personal view, boundary view, view side view, precept view, and wrong view. A total of these ten things in Buddhism are called afflictive views. As long as you have not cut off these ten great defilements cleanly, there is no way you can escape from the six paths of samsara. Why so? The Six Paths of Reincarnation is due to the thought of afflictions that appear. If your view of the defilements is over, and you no longer have these ten great defilements, then the phenomenon of the six paths of reincarnation will also disappear. The cause has ended, of course the fruit will no longer exist. At this time, in the Buddhadharma, you are called to attain the fruit of Arahantship, the fruit of the Pratyekabuddha, you have escaped. no longer in the six paths, in the Buddhadharma called beings of the four holy dharma world. The four main saints are Thanh Van, Pratyekabuddha, Bodhisattva, and Buddha. You enter this level, all must rely on diligence, must rely on the affliction. "Four demons", ghosts are many, too many, too many, immeasurable, limitless, it can be divided into four major categories. The first type is "Five warm ghosts". The five warms are not outside, we are ourselves. The five warm states clearly are form, feeling, perception, mental formations, and consciousness. "Form" is our physical body, this is the form body, this body is the demonic obstacle. You try it, if you are a little bit careless, you will catch wind and cold, get sick, you will be tormented by suffering. In the sutras, the Buddha tells us "five pots and pans". Feeling is your feeling, you have pain, pleasure, worry, liking, liking, and disengagement. "Thought" is that you have delusions, have false thoughts day and night without stopping, this is wishful thinking. In the great sutras, the Buddha often tells us: "All dharmas arise from the mind's perception", this word is false perception. All these dharmas are all dharmas in the six paths of samsara. "Activity" is that you stand in front of form, feeling, and perception moment without stopping, this is called volition. "Consciousness" is in the Alai Da Consciousness, your creation will turn into a seed, the seed that meets the conditions will arise. This is to say that cause and effect change, cause and effect continue, cause and effect cycle, this is ghost, it torments your body and mind, forever can't be purified, forever can't be at peace. The first type of ghost to recognize is oneself. The second type is "affliction". Before, I have told you that defilements have thoughts of afflictions, there are afflictions of dust, and ignorance of afflictions. We all have these three great defilements now, moreover, we have 100%. Defilement ghosts, thoughts and ideas of afflictions are over, you will be freed from the six paths of reincarnation. Are you free or not? Of course, compared to people in the Six Paths, you have great freedom, but compared to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, you are still not free. Why so? You still have afflictions and afflictions that have not been cut off, so compared to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas you are still suffering and suffering, you are still tightly controlled by ghosts. The afflictions and afflictions are over, escaping from the ten dharma realms, rebirth in the one true dharma world, which is the world of Ultimate Bliss, the world of Hoa Tang. Is there still trouble? Also, there is ignorance and afflictions that have not been cut off. Ignorance and defilements are the lightest, the most difficult to break. So in the one-footed world, there are 41 ranks. Where do these forty-one ranks come from? It is from the 41 products of ignorance that there are. Breaking one level of ignorance, your status will rise one level. The first-pillar Bodhisattva destroys one level of ignorance, the two-pillar Bodhisattva destroys two levels, the three-pillar Bodhisattva destroys three levels, and the ten-pillar Bodhisattva destroys ten chapters. The ten pillars pointing upwards are the ten virtues, the ten dedications. Decades to break thirty chapters. Looking up again is the address. The first stage to the Bodhisattva of the ten, ten levels (Dharma and the ground) destroys the 40 levels of ignorance, there is also a grade and a level that is the fully enlightened bodhisattva. The fully enlightened bodhisattva also has a quality of ignorance. Once this ignorance is completely destroyed, then you will be able to attain complete Buddhahood. Or in other words, what kind of person is when the afflictions are cut off? Buddha is over. The bodhisattva has not completely cut off, the bodhisattva level of enlightenment still has a level of ignorance that has not yet been cut off. We all need to understand this fact. Studying Buddhism, learning what? The affliction, far away from the demonic obstacles, "reversing the four demons". So we stay far away from private views, mundane, ignorant, this is orderly, there is such a layer, follow step by step. This is the ghost of affliction. The third type of ghost is the "death ghost". Death is a demon. We want to cultivate, if the path has not been accomplished, then our life span is over. After we die, there's no way we can be diligent, you're reincarnated, even though your good roots are deep, you'll get a human body again. , you can continue to work hard to study again, at least 20 years late. In other words, your practice is interrupted for 20 years, this is torture. Let's try to think 20 years to get that person's body again, Is it possible to encounter Buddhism? Is it possible to meet good knowledge? Is it possible to really carry on from the previous life by continuing to work tirelessly? Hard, too hard, too hard! There are some people who have just missed out, even though they have gained a human body, they cannot hear the Buddha's teachings, have no way of working diligently, and are often interrupted by being interrupted for a few lifetimes, even a few lifetimes, even as in the past. The Buddhist scriptures say that there are many eons. The opening verse says very well: "Hundreds of thousands of eons are difficult to meet", you in this life miss this opportunity, the next time you meet again, it will be hundreds of thousands of lives. This belongs to the dead ghost. These three types of ghosts all belong to themselves, and they do not belong to the outside world. Outside, there is only one type, "Heavenly Demon". What is a demon? Is the seduction of the outer five senses, which belongs to the heavenly ma. Today, the power of the demon is extremely large, the enchanting power is strong. Why so? No one forbids it. In the old days of kings and kings, kings had a mission and were responsible for protecting the safety of the body and mind for all sentient beings, so all those harmful enchantments were forbidden. Currently, liberal democracy is open, the temptation of real talent is raging strongly. Children, from the moment they were born, have just opened their eyes, and when they see TV, they are fascinated by the gods, how can they keep their virtues? Therefore, virtue completely disappears, it follows the fascination of the outside, it is this that causes great disaster for the world, creates the apocalypse, and creates the three disasters as in the Buddhadharma. said. Therefore, we must be aware, must be enlightened, must be really diligent in the way of karma, on the Buddhadharma, must destroy defilements, and must subdue the four demons. If you really have this ability, you won't be fooled by the outside world. The only method is to be close to the Buddha and Bodhisattva every day, not to take a single step away. Where is Buddha and Bodhisattva? Is scripture. Daily reading, reciting, thinking, studying, applying it in our lives, applying it to our work, applying it to our dealings with people and things, that's what is called true diligence. Only then will you have the ability to cut off afflictions, to have the ability to leave delusion, to escape from the six paths of reincarnation and to seek rebirth in the Pure Land. Seeking birth in the Pure Land is certainly not an easy task. The conditions to be reborn in the Pure Land are faith, vows, and conduct, what can you do? If you really believe in Buddha, then in your mind will not give birth to any evil thoughts. You also have bad thoughts that you don't believe in Buddha. If you really make a vow, then make the same vow as the Buddha, Amitabha Buddha has 48 vows, There is no wish to harm people? Where is there any vow when made to do harm to people? Not available. Is our vow the same as that of Amitabha Buddha? Hanh, Amitabha Buddha 48 vows to universally save sentient beings, that is happiness. The three karmas of body, speech, and mind must all create the best example, the mirror of righteous enlightenment to teach sentient beings, this is conduct. What words can we do with these three words? If you don't have these three words, you can recite Amitabha Buddha every day, the ancients said that every day reciting 200,000 Buddhist words, the name is still "Screaming in the throat is useless". If you have enough faith and vows, you will be enough in this life to recite one sentence of Amitabha Buddha. This is telling you the truth. Conditions for rebirth in the West are the three words of faith, vow, and happiness. Full of faith and vows, this person is the incarnation of Amitabha Buddha, the model of Amitabha Buddha, How do they not be reborn? It's a pity that no one has ever clearly explained these truths, truths, methods, and realms to you. In the old Venerable's notes, it is very clear, readers don't understand, you can't feel it, it's because your karma is too heavy, your thoughts are all subject to evil karma. Therefore, in this life of cultivation, the result is that there is still no way to escape from the Three Paths of the Six Paths. The reason is here. 4.6 The Fifth Enlightenment Please see the text below: "The fifth enlightenment, the stupidity of birth and death, the bodhisattva's constant remembrance, extensive learning and multiculturalism, growth in wisdom, achievement of eloquence, necessary teaching, all great bliss". There are two types of "Saints and Deaths". One type is called the "section of birth and death", it is true that we use this term of birth and death, the easier it is for you to understand, the more clear it is. The phenomenon of arising and passing away, it occurs piece by piece. For example, taking us as an example to say that from birth to death, we call it a lifetime, in Buddhism this is called a stage. This type of birth and death is called the section of birth and death. Practically speaking, this part of the paragraph is talking about a very gross general. If I say it carefully, every day is indeed a part of birth and death, every day is different. At night, when people go to sleep, they are considered dead. When they wake up in the morning, this is a passage, and they come back to life. Today is definitely not tomorrow. This, if you think carefully, will not be difficult to understand. In Buddhism, it is said that the most subtle thing is called the moment of birth and death. Thus, it is really not easy for ordinary people to understand, this is "stupid". So where does the phenomenon of birth and death come from? Out of stupidity! The second kind Buddha tells us the phenomenon of arising and passing away, so in addition to the paragraph, it also transforms. "Transformation" is also a kind of samsara phenomenon. Transformation is the enhancement of your realm, just like we do when students learn in school. We are in the first grade, finished the first grade, then go to the second grade next year. In the second grade, the first grade died, then the second grade was born. This belongs to transformation, you create transformation. In Buddhism, ordinary people six paths, these two types of birth and death exist. After escaping from the six paths, the section of birth and death is no longer there, only the transformation of birth and death remains. It is also said that after attaining Arahantship, there is no longer a section of birth and death, only the transformation of birth and death, they continue to practice continuously to improve. This phenomenon belongs to the transformation of birth and death. For example, using the realm of the 41 bodhisattvas in the Avatamsaka Sutra to say, then they have the ability to break one more level of ignorance, they immediately ascend to the second pillar. Ascending to the two pillars, from the primary pillar to the two pillars, this is called transformation. The two pillars that turn to the three pillars of 41 levels are all subject to change, there is no part of birth and death. These phenomena are not free from ignorance. Ignorance is ignorance and afflictions. Therefore, in the one-footed Dharma Realm, 41 Bodhisattvas have not yet cut off this stupidity, so they still change birth and death. Being in the Nine Dharma Realms, especially in the Six Paths, is very stupid. Not only is there stupidity, from stupidity born afflictions of dust and afflictions, giving birth to thoughts of afflictions, so there is not only a change in birth and death, but also the cessation of birth and death. This we cannot fail to know. Buddhas and Bodhisattvas appear in the world, with great compassion to help all sentient beings. What do you guys help? Nothing but helping sentient beings solve the problem of birth and death. Birth and death are great suffering. Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are free from birth and death, not only do they no longer have the part of birth and death, but the transformation of birth and death also no longer exists. Only after we have accomplished ourselves will we be able to accomplish all sentient beings. Buddha and Bodhisattva appear because we teach us. "Bodhisattvas often recite, study extensively, grow in wisdom, and achieve eloquence." This is the Buddha teaching us how to destroy ignorance? These four sentences are extremely important. "Multi-literary literature", cultivation must have a method. This method is said to be completely opposite to "multi-literary literature", in fact it is not, it really complements each other's achievements, it is not contradictory. Learning is bound to be "an introspective, long-term practice", this is what Buddhism says. Confucian education in China, you try it, the first curriculum children come into contact with is the Three Self-Confucius. In the Three Self Sutras, the method of learning has already been mentioned, which is "teachers of the path, precious and specialized". Think about it, the word that specializes in, specializes in, is "an intensive, long-term training course" that is said in the Buddha Dharma. So the foundation must be laid from here. The learning method of people today is completely opposite to this principle, 180 degrees opposite. They just started learning, they want to learn everything, it's true that they learn a lot. At the end of the study, they don't know anything! Modern people really look and think differently from the ancients. The ancients taught that teaching was like planting a tree, rooting first. After taking root, the future will naturally sprout, be healthy, bear fruit, and keep green leaves and branches. That is multicultural literature, it has roots, it has roots. People now practice and study, and when they first enter, they want to learn a lot, and then they want to be beautiful. The result of their education is no roots, no roots. So I often use flowers in pots as an example. [Flowers in a pot] were very beautiful, but died immediately, after a few days, they all dried up, no more. It's not like the old Chinese teaching method of living. You have to start from the basics, really elaborate to a certain depth, then naturally you will know everything with one touch. As soon as they contacted them, they immediately understood that it was multicultural education. So Buddhism teaches beginners to penetrate a subject, modern people refuse to learn, refuse to accept, so in this modern generation of us, there are no talents in Buddhism. It is not that we are not as gifted as the ancients, but that our innate gifts are at least the same as those of the ancients, nothing else. Our achievements are not as good as the ancients because our learning methods are wrong. This principle must be understood. Everything in ancient anthropology is an introspective discipline. I studied catechism with old layman Ly Binh Nam, old layman Ly especially emphasized this point. If we refused to accept, the teacher immediately told you to go to another place to study, you should not come to my place. If you come to study at my place, you must follow my instructions and follow my method. When we just entered the Buddha's door to worship the teacher, the conditions were agreed upon. Absolutely must obey 100%, not willing to be satisfied is definitely not allowed. This is rooting. If you really listen, really accept, then the teacher is really responsible, really teaching you. When are you going to learn multi-language? Until you are enlightened. So the teacher only teaches you the first thing is virtue, morality, and concentration. A subject of penetration, learning only one thing, but the three learning precepts of concentration wisdom are all in it. According to the teacher's method, the only thing to do is to uphold the precepts. All the spirit, time, and energy are used in this one set of sutras, this is meditation. One discipline is meditation. If you have precepts and concentration, you will naturally be enlightened. Enlightenment is wisdom, you can enter enlightenment. Then apply the three precepts of concentration and wisdom to your daily life, and you will be able to use it immediately. This type of education is called real learning, real learning, really having a place to use, really being used. Until when is the great thoroughness of great enlightenment, clear mind to see nature like that? At this time, it is multicultural advertising. Your six senses that are in contact with the realm are the school of knowledge. Just in contact, immediately communicate, nothing is not communicated. Buddha Shakyamuni was still alive in the past, preaching the sutras and preaching the Dharma for 49 years. Later people gathered into classics, handed down to China was only a small part. At that time, the traffic was inconvenient, so the selection was very careful, choosing these good classics to bring to China, there was no way to bring secondary and lesser goods, only to throw them away. We now see that the Tripitaka is so numerous that it has been carefully selected. If we take all the things that the Blessed One said in the past for 49 years and assemble them into the entire canon, our humblest calculation would be ten times more than our present Tripitaka. is the most modest calculation. Such a large number that Bodhisattva Long-life completed in just three months, that is called extensive learning. Our whole life's energy, even 100 years of study, we can't finish, It only takes three months to finish school. What's the cause? They have roots. Indeed, one knows ten, one hears a thousand enlightenment, so it only takes three months to graduate. Nagarjuna Bodhisattva can finish studying the entire Tripitaka in three months, we can also complete the entire Tripitaka in three months, this is to tell you the truth, no lies at all. What to do? Entering the Buddha realm, then don't you already understand all of the Buddha's things? It is important to enter the Buddha realm. Your mind is like Buddha's mind, your vow is like Buddha's vow, your conduct is like Buddha's conduct, your language is no different from Buddha's. One through all is through, the world or out of the world there is nothing not through. This method is amazing! Buddhas and Bodhisattvas bring the method, This accumulated experience from thousands of eons is passed on to us, we still follow our delusions, discriminations, and attachments, refuse to accept, refuse to believe, then this responsibility must be ours. bear, it is absolutely not Buddhas and Bodhisattvas who are not compassionate, not good-natured intellectuals. A true intellectual, a truly enlightened person, for all sentient beings being equal is to "spent my heart out", no matter how much I have poured it all out for you, you refuse to accept it, then nothing will happen. that way. Therefore, the general program, the total principle is: "due to precepts, by concentration, wisdom is established". If you don't follow the dharma (following the dharma is upholding the precepts), you don't follow this principle, you don't practice sincerity, purity, equality, right enlightenment, and compassion (this is all part of samadhi) ) then how can you become enlightened, How can you grow intellectually? Wisdom grows, eloquence immediately succeeds. Argument is absolutely not self-interest, but self-benefit. Self-interest is the promotion of multiculturalism, intellectual growth, these two sentences. Multicultural literature, definitely from the world of wisdom. Leaving the precepts of samadhi, that is not the Buddhadharma. Buddhadharma is the dharma of enlightenment, not the dharma, it is the dharma of delusion and perversion, not the dharma of enlightenment. This principle must be understood. So I often encourage fellow initiates and initiates to study Buddhism at home. If you can't do the ten good deeds and the five precepts, you are not a true disciple of the Buddha, you are a disciple. fake. As a Buddhist disciple, if even Sa Di Law Nghi, 10 precepts, and 24 positions can't do it, then you are not a true monastic. Not a true monastic, you are the one who destroys the image of Buddhism. It's the same with a lay Buddhist disciple, if you can't do it with the ten virtues and five precepts, you're not a lay Buddhist disciple, you destroy the image of a lay Buddhist disciple. Before I was in Taichung, Mr. Li used to say, I have lived there for 10 years, at least heard him say a few hundred times, the impression is very deep. You speak the truth, not politely. The teacher said that if people who study and recite Buddha's name can really be reborn in the future, there are only a few out of ten thousand people. The old Venerable said that this method is "ten thousand people cultivate and ten thousand people are reborn", why is there only a few people born in ten thousand people? Those few or three people are full of good faith. Mind is Buddha's mind, vow is Buddha's vow, conduct is Buddha's conduct, they will be reborn. More than 9990 people left there, the mind is not the Buddha mind, still the habit of afflictions. The vow is not the wish of the Buddha, still doing things for private interests, fame and gain, greed, hatred and delusion. Happiness is not the conduct of Buddha. Therefore, every day when we recite the Buddha's name, it is true that the old virtue said: "Screaming in the throat is also useless". We understand the immediate phenomenon of this society today, we have to ask for ourselves, not for others. Asking for someone else is definitely wrong. Definitely have to turn back to my requirements, my own achievements. Once you have accomplished yourself, all sentient beings will be accomplished. If you are saved yourself, all sentient beings will naturally be saved. Therefore, when Bodhisattvas become Buddhas, they see that all sentient beings in the world have attained the same Buddha Way. If you don't enter the realm, it's very difficult for you to understand, but when you enter the realm, you immediately understand it. Menh Phu Tu said very well: "Rebellion against selfishness", the words of the sages are not wrong. Regardless of adversity, goodwill and evil. The six senses we come into contact with will turn back to look at ourselves. Good dharma must try to learn and preserve; Evil dharmas must be cut off and corrected. Accomplish one's virtue (precept is virtue), achieve one's concentration, achieve one's wisdom, then naturally can teach all sentient beings. This word "All", usually we generally give sentient beings in the nine dharma realms, not only in the human realm, but the nine dharma realms are also included in it, as long as you have wisdom, you can take measures. talent. Buddha and Bodhisattva take the salvation of all sentient beings as a career. Educating must first achieve self. Buddha Shakyamuni set an example for us to see. He himself practiced, attained enlightenment, and then went out to teach. We often say that we can do it ourselves first and then teach others, this is a saint. He did it, he did it. Buddha's disciples are no exception. If you do not have the fruition of a true bodhisattva. Bodhisattvas are of two types. One is the bodhisattva's right teaching, the other is the bodhisattva's true teaching, which is true. Bodhisattva realism is to break a chapter of ignorance and partially demonstrate the dharmakaya. At this time, you can leave the teacher to teach one direction. If they still haven't understood their true nature, then they can only stay by the teacher's side, receive his teachings, which is just like students at school, they haven't graduated yet. In the Buddhadharma, the bodhisattva graduated and then had a clear mind to see the nature. If they do not have a clear mind, they have not graduated, then only by following the teacher will you not go the wrong way. If you don't follow the teacher, also want to learn the Bodhisattva to teach sentient beings, which is an extremely dangerous path. Why so? You create your own karma, then there is nothing more to say, you do it yourself! If you lead others to also lead down the wrong path, poor creation, this sin cannot be overstated. In Buddhism, it is often said that the blind lead the blind, and together pull each other into the fire pit. You yourself do not have the eye of the path, not yet enlightened, you lead a series of sentient beings to fall along with you, this retribution is serious. Falling in itself, the retribution is not serious. You lead others on the wrong path, this retribution is incomparably serious. Ancient virtue often said: "There are many monks at the gate of hell", that word Sangha includes lay Buddhist disciples. If you don't lead others, you don't have this fault. If you lead people, you have to shoulder this causal responsibility. Therefore, you must be able to do it yourself to be able to teach. When I was in Taichung in the past, Master Li had a limit of 40 years old, so he couldn't teach sentient beings. This is saying what? In the eyes of your teacher, you have already achieved some achievements. Now the standard of achievement has been lowered, unlike before. In the past, it was clear mind to see nature, the current standard is that you have the ability to distinguish right and wrong, wrong and true hope. If you have the power to discern these things, you can stay away from the teacher, you won't go astray. If you don't have the ability to distinguish between right and wrong, if you don't have the ability to justify right and wrong, you will definitely not be able to leave the teacher, and if you leave the teacher, you will definitely fall. We cannot fail to understand this principle. "Great Bliss" is the breaking of delusion and enlightenment, leaving defilements, leave birth and death, leave samsara. To be honest, to actually be born in the Western world of Ultimate Bliss, this is the true "great bliss". "All" is equal, in this there is certainly no emotional work, treat all sentient beings with equal mind, pure mind, help sentient beings leave suffering and be happy. 4.7 The Sixth Trigonal Sutra: "The hexagon knows, the suffering is multi-faceted, the afflicted with evil conditions, the bodhisattva gives alms, equals the unjust body, does not think of the old evil, does not rise to the evil one". “Poverty” not only includes all material things, but also includes the spiritual aspect. If they really have wisdom, even though they are miserable, they are also very happy, they will not have bad relations with sentient beings. In ancient Chinese books, it is recorded that Nhan Hoi - Confucius's disciple, material life is extremely poor, ordinary people feel extremely anxious, But according to the words of Confucius, we can clearly see that Nhan Hoi not only does not consider suffering, but also considers it to be joyful. Phu Tu praised him, saying that his life was "a person who does not want to be difficult, no matter what, when he is wild, no matter how happy he is", it can be seen that his life is extremely happy, poor but happy. From there, it shows that "poverty" here, the focus is definitely still on the moral aspect, in morality, in wisdom. People lacking morality, lack of wisdom, that is the real poverty. Because there is no wisdom, that is stupidity. Stupidity always gives rise to afflictions, that is, greed, hatred, and delusion will be especially serious, and of course will "make a bad relationship" with everyone and everything, this is inevitable. . “The bodhisattva gives alms, contemplating unjust bodily harm, not thinking of the former evil, not sedating the wicked.” These sayings actually say that, even if you don't study Buddhism, Cultivation of blessings to the heavens, people also need to comply. "Giving alms", especially for the poor, only the Bodhisattva has wisdom, the Bodhisattva understands the truth, cause and effect. If you want to help sentient beings, you must first give alms. Giving is giving unconditionally, giving unconditionally. Sentient beings lack real medicine, in an urgent time it is necessary to help them. In giving and making offerings, the most important thing is to give Dharma, because all sentient beings certainly cannot live their whole life by relying on the offerings of others. This person is a sinner, what is the crime? I said before, entertainment, lazy. Depending on other people's offerings, if they can't survive on their own, they are guilty. Only know how to receive offerings but do not know how to give back, where is this kind of morality? Therefore, while sentient beings are in poverty and suffering, Those who make alms and offerings must definitely help them develop wisdom, must help them gain power. From that show, in giving alms, the most important thing is education. Not only have to teach them to have wisdom, but also to teach them to have skills. What we say today is education of technical ability, education of morals and ethics, this kind of saving compassion is considered to be truly complete. Almsgiving must be equal, so it is necessary to "considerate the unjust body". "Equality" is equality, "mind" means to treat, using an equal mind to treat, "wrong" is a confrontation with an unjust family, "relative" is your family and relatives. Why so? If you have an advantage, I only give alms to my relatives, I will not give alms to my bondholders, or in other words, your life will not be safe and peaceful. Why so? These unjustly left-owners definitely want to find you to cause trouble. There is an old Chinese proverb that says: "One house is full, one thousand houses are angry". You are the object of hatred, the target of everyone's hatred, do you still have good days? How should society be peaceful? How should the world be at peace? That is equal resentment. No matter who you are, in today's great society, regardless of country or ethnic group, each place has a different culture, bodhisattvas all treat them equally, give and give equally, then this society will be peaceful, the world will be at peace. If the people are happy, we are also happy. If our society prospers, our family will also prosper. This is a certain morality. Therefore, there must not be a biased mind, and there must be no biased love. These last two sentences are especially the best method to resolve conflicts: "Never mind the old evil, not the evil one". What wrong things have this person done in the past, as long as they know how to turn their heads, turn their heads, turn their heads, they are good people, they should not keep remembering these bad thoughts and bad actions of their past. It is necessary to forgive them, so to forgive them, this is the conduct of a great person. "Unbeatable evil", evil people why do they do so evil? The front said they were "poor and angry". Is this person very rich? Rich is rich in wealth, but their intelligence is very poor, they have no wisdom, they are confused, so from the perspective of virtue and wisdom, they are very pitiful, they are really poor. . So they are easy to sin, easy to do wrong, their afflictive habits are extremely heavy, even a small stimulus can't stand it, As long as there is a little bit of external stimulation, their afflictive habits will appear, and they will get angry. Buddha-Bodhisattva considers this type of person, that is, in the sutras it is often said "the poor one". They create evil deeds, Buddha and Bodhisattva "do not think of the old evil, do not increase the evil", do they have to bear the retribution or not? Of course, there must be retribution. Causation is the law of nature. Not only are ordinary people who create evil deeds must suffer evil retribution, but even Buddhas and Bodhisattvas before they have cultivated the path of karma, these sins have already been created, they still have to receive retribution. Buddha Shakyamuni, you see in the sutras there is retribution Ma Mai. This Shakyamuni clan of Buddha Shakyamuni in the past life created evil karma, so the retribution of King Luu Ly destroyed this clan. Buddha cannot save! The cause and effect of this matter can only be carried by oneself, endured by oneself, Buddha and Bodhisattva of great compassion cannot help you either. We must understand this principle. If you really understand this principle, then you will "remember the old evil, not the evil one". If your mind is equal, then karma can be eliminated. Exclusion, still have to bear the retribution or not? Still have to suffer, heavy sin, light retribution, when the retribution comes, it will be much lighter, you yourself understand very well, very clearly, this is the ancient virtue that says "does not cause cause and effect". Not without cause and effect, but without cause and effect, understand very clearly, understand very clearly. Therefore, if we want to not have that retribution, we must definitely not create a cause. If you have already created the cause and wish in the future to be free from this retribution, that is foolishness, it is impossible. Therefore, in Buddhism it is often said that "Bodhisattvas are afraid of causes, sentient beings are afraid of results", the moral is here. In order to get rid of poverty and resolve resentment, the most important thing is education, especially the education of sages, and moral and ethical education. If we ignore this fact, society will get sick. There are many people today who say that the earth is sick. This statement is not true. The earth is sick, that is, the beings residing on this earth, the sentient beings in the society are sick, there is a problem. Why didn't these problems exist in the olden days? Now there are these problems again? We try to think carefully, look to the past, look far into the future, there are more or less some suggestions. In ancient times, in the East, there was the education of sages, in India there was a Buddhist education, in the West there was a religious education, so that society was stable and peaceful, the people could live a normal life. Up to the last few centuries, Due to the development of science and technology, people think they are very intelligent, very talented themselves, do not need Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, do not need saints, nor do they need religion. hate, based on some merit accumulated in his past life, depending on the habit of afflictions. Buddha and Bodhisattva have gone, the sages have also left this world, this world no longer has the education of saints! This is the medical condition of today's society, the basic cause of all natural disasters. From that we will think, if there is a person who is oriented to study according to sage education, popularizing sage education, how much merit do you say their merit is? All Buddhas will of course protect their thoughts, and be grateful to the gods and goddesses. If you still follow your afflictive habits, it's a bit unsatisfactory that I have to destroy you, I have to destroy you; You destroy the teaching of the sage, that is, destroy the dharmakaya, wisdom life of all sentient beings, you can freely create, the retribution you do not even think about. World War II, Hitler was at his peak at one time, can you imagine that at that time? Who would have thought that four years later he would perish? If he knew that four years later he would die and the country would lose his home, I believe he wouldn't have created those bad karmas. History is a mirror, looking at the past, you can think of the future. It is not easy for us to obtain a real human body. In the sutras it is often said: "The human body is difficult to obtain, the Buddha Dharma is difficult to hear". Having a human body and listening to the Buddha's teachings is the most precious and most formidable thing. That is, you have the opportunity to be liberated, you have the opportunity to escape from samsara, attain Buddhahood, you have the opportunity to do boundless meritorious benefits. This is indeed a "hard to meet" opportunity. If you can't grasp it, you still follow your afflictive habits, don't believe in the education of saints, and continue to do wrong, then you are truly unjust, really too wrong ! History is a mirror, there is nothing in the world that is not a mirror in front of your eyes? I've told you many times, since I was very young, before I was still working, before I was ordained, I watched the newspaper every day. I don't watch the newspaper like everyone else, people pay attention to the news that the press reports, I notice every day that it's sad news, I watch this. Every day watch sad news, every day see who has passed away, some are old, some are young, I love watching these news, watching these things with vigilance. I have passed away this much today, I'll be on the road a lot more tomorrow, try to see if the future will be your turn. Master An Quang teaches learners to stick the word "Tzu" on their foreheads. Seeing this word death every day, I am about to die, where will I go after I die? Before I did not study Buddhism, I had this alert mind. "People are dying, words are often good", what should be difficult for others? What to compare? What to create a career? Looking at it from this perspective, I still have this bit of good root. So even in this one life, whether before studying Buddhism or after studying Buddhism, I start to move my mind, create language, and have less bad karma. I hope that even in this life, I will actually be able to do evil deeds and all will be gone. My goal is pure mind ground, pure speech, I follow this path. I know a person in a lifetime, can have one day, two days, seven days of pure and pure mind and earth, then this is immeasurable merit, this is really what can be carried. . All mundane or out-of-the-world dharmas, nothing you can take with you. In Buddhism it says: "Everything is left behind, only karma is carried", we can't help but notice. Therefore, these two words "misery" we must definitely apply to morality and wisdom. Our morality is extremely poor, our wisdom is extremely poor, so you just follow the habit of afflictions, "combining evil conditions" with all sentient beings. "Equal remembrance of the body, no recollection of the former evil, and no remembrance of the wicked", these three sentences are the method of non-dualistic conflict resolution within and without. It is also the highest guiding principle of a person who truly practices purity, equality, and enlightenment. Smart people, people with wisdom, their wish is certainly pure and equal enlightenment. If you want to cultivate a pure mind, an equal mind, and an enlightened mind, you must decide not to write the unwholesome behavior of all sentient beings in your mind. has turned into a trash can of unwholesome evil karma of all sentient beings. You say, what does this person do with wisdom? This is all nonsense. Therefore, the intelligent person decides not to write the negative actions of others in his mind, this is truly a smart person. So our eyes do not see evil images, ears do not hear evil sounds, the six senses do not contact the evil realms, The worldly or out-of-the-world saints teach us so. These three sentences are the general program, the total principle. When we see all these unwholesome images, we immediately avoid them. When we hear an unwholesome sound, we immediately stop it, don't take these things to heart. Recording it in your mind will become your impure, unwholesome mental behavior. We want to practice pure enlightenment, so when can we achieve this? These things are around in our lives, every moment we have to be on guard, we have to be vigilant, that's why it's called awareness, enlightenment. 4.8 The Seventh Enlightenment Please see the text below: "The Seventh Enlightenment, the five desires are too eunuch, though virtuous, unspoiled by the world". Let's read this verse. "Five sensual pleasures": "sex" is lust, "five" are five types, these are talent, form, fame, and real life. what people normally say. The Chinese often say that the five passions are not inherent in the self-nature. Loss of love in the five sexes is a vain thing. Loss of love: joy is excitement, anger is anger, who is sad, happy is that we usually say happy, these are all impulses of emotions, the current of disturbing habits. Usually ordinary people can't control it, this kind of mood must make them act, but the action must be controlled. In the past, the sages and sages transformed sentient beings, knowing that sentient beings have countless lives up to now, in samsara, all have serious five-sex love. These afflictive habits only have great saints and great sages, if they cultivate for a long time, these afflictive habits will end. Ordinary people do not end these things. When it is active, it must also be allowed to act, but it is wrong to tell them to have moderation, not to overdo it. We used to live in Singapore, Singapore had a layperson Hua Triet, and fellow initiates in Singapore all knew her. She told me that normally a person experiencing dissatisfaction will get angry, she told me to be angry for three minutes, but it takes three days for this mood to return to normal. You immediately know, this is extremely harmful to the body. People who do not know how to respect themselves, do not know how to love themselves. Touching on the mood, will inevitably produce extreme disadvantages for your body and mind. People often cannot enjoy their age. Age is your birth, naturally, you should follow the way of saying in traditional Chinese medicine, like Linh Khu - Emperor Noi Kinh when I was young, I also liked to watch, see in the book that the normal life span of a human being is 200 years old. Why don't you live to 200 years? You have destroyed your own body, you don't know the way to nourish life, you don't know how to love your body. The body is like a machine, you have to understand its function, you have to know how to care for it, love it. Normal life span is 200 years, dozens of years have been destroyed. What is destruction? It's emotional feeling, emotional emotion. So here it is said "Five passions are too elusive", that "excessive ego" is actually very, very serious. It is true that we are limited in time, so we cannot tell you in detail. In detail, each sentence of this sutra would not be finished in two hours. Here the Buddha advises us: "Although the worldly people live, they are not infected by the world". Although you are a worldly person, you must remember that you should not indulge in worldly pleasures, especially the pleasures of the present world. Let's try to see the current cinema, television, dance, drama, music, even fine art and painting today, this is the "place of happiness". These things you should observe carefully, what does it teach people? It teaches all negative things, not positive things, has nothing to do with morality, loyalty and humanity, so how can society not be in chaos? How can sentient beings not suffer? Read Buddhist scriptures, read sage books, then turn around to observe our society today, there is nothing difficult to understand here. After understanding, we know, how do we need to live? How work? How to be human? How can I help myself? How to help the masses in society?
