More than 2,500 years ago in the Indian subcontinent, a divine and human teacher was born, Prince Siddhartha, the son of King Suddhodana (Sanskrit), whose mother was Queen Maya (Ma-da). Because of the search for a path to liberation from birth, old age, sickness and death for all sentient beings, he left the palace of gold and jewels to seek the ultimate truth. After 6 years of ascetic practice and 49 days of meditation practice under the Bodhi tree, he achieved Perfect Enlightenment with transcendent wisdom, a teacher of gods and humans. From the time he was born, the Buddha had something different from many other children, that is, the image of a baby when he was born walked seven steps on seven lotus flowers. The place where Buddha was born The republic of the Sakya tribe, the capital of which is Kapilavatthu [1] (and the ancient territory that is now bordered on the India-Nepal border divides) is the homeland of the Buddha [2 ]. According to contemporary culture here, a woman pregnant with her first child must return to her mother's hometown to give birth [3], and Queen Maya also follows that custom. According to the historical work of the Buddha [4], when it was time to give birth to the Crown Prince, the Empress departed from Kapilavastu to her mother's hometown in Devadaha [5] to give birth. The journey by horse-drawn carriage or ox-cart made her labor happen before reaching Devadaha. Near the village of Lumbini [6] (now Rumindai), here there are no houses, no doctors take care of the maternity, only the tree of Worry. According to A Brief History of Indian Buddhism [7], the Buddha was born on April 8, 624 BC. Besides, countries such as Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand often takes the year of Buddha's Nirvana as 544 BC to celebrate [8] The World Buddhist Association in 1952 has agreed to take the year of the Buddha's passing away as the anniversary of the "Buddhist calendar", ie. Buddha was born in 624 BC. In 1896, Lumbini was excavated by archaeologists. They found the most important relic is a 6.5m high stone pillar erected by Emperor Asoka in 245 BC, which states: "Twenty-five years after ascending the throne, King Devânampiya Piyadasi (Thien Ai Thien Kien) came to the throne. here to worship, because Shakyamuni Buddha, the sage of the Shakyamuni tribe, was born here. The king ordered to carve a stone statue (?) and erect a stone pillar. He exempted the land tax in the village of Lumbini and reduced the yield tax from the usual 1/4 to 1⁄8)” [9]. Until today, The relics associated with the life of the Buddha since his birth are still researched and preserved by scientists. The Buddha with a flesh-and-blood human being, was born and has evidence, not a fictional, fabled figure. As a teacher of gods and humans, from the time he was born, the Buddha had different points from many other children. That is the image of a baby, when he was born, he walked seven steps on seven lotuses. MEANING OF IMAGES TO WALK SEVEN STEPS ON SEVENT LENSES MEANING 7 Lotus Flowers The lotus flower is a symbol of Buddhism. The lotus is a pure, beautiful flower with five special things praised by the Buddha. The Lotus Sutra [10] mentioned the beauty of the lotus as follows: One, having a flower is a mirror, that is simultaneous cause and effect. Two, growing in the mud but still clean and fragrant. Three, the cotton stalk from the root is separated, do not share branches with leaves. Four, bees and butterflies do not roost. Five, do not be the user to do makeup. Thus, the lotus has five good qualities that other flowers do not have. It is a picture of a lotus flower. But why does tradition say that he walked on seven lotuses and not another number? In the Ahamma Sutra, the Buddha clearly stated, the reason why the Buddha stepped to the seventh step and then stopped to say: Heaven and earth, the only self-respecting One, One, all sentient beings, the Buddha nature. Because each lotus flower was a previous Buddha, now he is the 07th Buddha. In the Sutra of the First Great Primordial Condition (Destined for Birth, Enlightenment, and Teaching of the Seven Buddhas in the Saha world) belongs to the School. The Sutras, narrate that there are three Buddhas of the past life (Dignified kalpa) and four Buddhas of the present life (Sen kalpa). The sutras do not talk about future lives (Star life). Seven Buddhas include [11]: One is the Buddha Vairochana of the past life. The second is the Poetic Buddha of the past life. The third is the Vairocana Buddha of the past life. The fourth is the Buddha Cau Luu Ton of the present life. The fifth is the Buddha of the present life. Six is the Buddha Kashyapa of the present life. Seven is Shakyamuni Buddha of the present life teaching sentient beings in the Saha world. The reason the Buddha stopped at the 7th lotus and read the verse is because the 07th lotus is the current Shakyamuni Buddha who was just born to teach sentient beings in this Saha realm. That is the meaning of the seven lotus flowers that appear at the time of the Buddha's birth. THE MEANING OF THE 7 STEPS OF THE Buddha Surely everyone knows that when the Buddha was born, he walked 07 steps, then he pointed his finger to the sky, his finger pointed to the ground and read the above-mentioned verse. With transcendent wisdom, means of teaching the Dharma to sentient beings, the gestures of the worldly ones are often different from those of ordinary people and have high doctrinal value. The image of the Buddha who was just born and walked 7 steps carries a very deep meaning. The appearance of a Buddha is a process over many lifetimes, from an ordinary person who has to practice many lives and many lives to become a Buddha, and the sign of a bodhisattva being reborn to become a Buddha is the birth of a Buddha. Tran has taken 07 steps, those 07 steps represent the attainment of 07 Bodhi paths. That is evidenced in the Sutra of Upa Di Tinh Hanh Dharma Gate as follows: The first step is only to the East, for being a guide for living beings [12]. The East is the direction of the rising sun, symbolizing the wisdom of sentient beings. In the Lotus Sutra it is said: "The Tathagata Buddhas only teach Bodhisattvas, what they do is usually for one thing: Just bring the Buddha's knowledge and understanding to enlighten sentient beings." [13]. And the Buddha was reborn to teach and help sentient beings to be opened to wisdom, to gain insight into their own inherent Buddha vision. The second step, only to the South because of farming blessings for sentient beings [14]. The Buddha was a Great Enlightened One, who has been practicing forbearance and giving in a perfect way since time immemorial. Giving away the whole palace of gold and jewels, a beautiful wife, good children, eyes, ears, nose, tongue... He realized that to be liberated, wisdom alone is not enough, there must be more merit. If one of them is missing, it is like a bird with only one wing that cannot fly. Therefore, he needs to have enough merit and wisdom to cultivate a field of merit for sentient beings to depend on and sow seeds. The third step, pointing to the West because this life of the Bodhisattva has ended, this is the last body [15]. Speaking of the West, people would think it was a quiet resting place. The Buddha's body will enter the realm of birthlessness, immortality, or Nirvana when the Buddha Dharma is passed on, but the Buddha's boundless wisdom and merit are still present here for sentient beings to sow blessings and offerings. . The fourth step points to the North, because with all sentient beings, the Bodhisattva has attained Unsurpassed Bodhi. In the process of practicing to attain Bodhi, with transcendent wisdom. He realized that the mind of Buddha and sentient beings are not inherently different, but in order to achieve liberation, sentient beings must ignore their selfish and narrow mind and practice the Six Paramitas like Bodhisattvas. Ksitigarbha has made a vow: "In hell, if you do not swear to become a Buddha, sentient beings will be able to attain Bodhi." But don't stop at that vow, you must continue to pray for forgiveness until you reach Buddhahood. Because of his boundless compassion, the Buddha has cultivated to the state of Supreme Bodhi so that sentient beings can rely on that as an example. The fifth step, pointing to the lower direction because he wanted to destroy the army of ghosts so that they could retreat [17]. The lower direction is the dark places, such as the afflictions and obstacles of knowledge. Not only that, there are also external temptations that affect and entangle sentient beings, which is the cause of samsara. Seeing that, he made a vow to practice for the sake of sentient beings and overcome those obstacles. That is the process by which the bodhisattva initiates the practice to let go of internal or external attachments to achieve the "Four Immeasurable Minds" (kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity). Because only when the right fruit is achieved, can we overcome these obstacles and become a teacher to guide sentient beings to attain ultimate liberation. The sixth step, pointing to the upper direction because of taking refuge for heaven and human [18]. The Buddha saw that sentient beings, although developing the mind to practice, used the wisdom of Prajna to contemplate and eliminate demonic obstacles for themselves. At the same time, he also found that, on that path of liberation from birth and death, when sentient beings are tired, they need refuge, and need an almighty enlightened person to show the way. As the good father of all living beings, he has made a vow to benefit others for the sake of sentient beings. Because of that immense compassion, the Buddha will be the one who gives sentient beings refuge, gives them strength and energy, and leads them on the path to seek Buddhahood and liberation for themselves. The seventh step, roaring the Lion's voice because he is the supreme one, the most respected in heaven and human, all sentient beings have no equal [20]. In the Truong A Ham Sutra, it was also mentioned: "Heavenly in the heavens - The only self-respecting Oneness of all sentient beings - The Buddha nature". It means that all over the world, only I respect. All beings in the world are governed by birth, old age, sickness, and death. In other words, more clearly, in heaven and on earth there is only the true self, which is the pure mind that is worthy of respect. It is this unique true body that is the eternal, pure and unchanging Buddha-nature jewel in every human being. All sentient beings have Buddha nature. Only this unique true body can give sentient beings peace, liberation and salvation. Thereby, the Buddha was born and walked 07 steps on 07 lotus flowers to show sentient beings that he appeared in this world with immaculate mind and wisdom. Appears to teach sentient beings, to be a refuge, to lead sentient beings out of the sea of samsara to attain liberation. CONCLUSION More than 25 centuries ago, the world joyfully welcomed a Crown Prince with a vow of charity, for the sake of sentient beings that come down to the human world. It is our Buddha Shakyamuni, the founder of Buddhism in India and present all over the world, a Bodhisattva who came to earth, when he was born he took 7 steps. on 07 lotus flowers. That image has a huge and profound meaning. The image of 07 lotus flowers is the Buddha who wants to let sentient beings know the seven Buddhas in the past and that he is the 07th Buddha. And the image of walking 07 steps and then pointing to the sky reading the verse is the affirmation at the moment. that he is a bodhisattva who has attained the seven bodhi paths and will now appear in the human world to teach sentient beings, will be a blessed field for sentient beings to sow seeds of merit, a place for sentient beings to take refuge on his path to liberation. With unsurpassed compassion. The Buddha was born in the human world to fulfill his noble vows of benefit and forgiveness. To commemorate the anniversary of the Buddha's birthday, every year, each temple often organizes Buddha's birthday to commemorate the good father who brought the righteous Dharma to the human world to save confused and lost sentient beings.END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).WORLD VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST ORDER=BUDDHIST DHARMA WHEEL GOLDEN MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.13/7/2022.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH.
