It was also because he realized that many monks had become disrespectful when seeing the short and short monk Bhaddiya, the Buddha said two verses that startled the audience, that it was the monk Bhaddiya who had killed his father, mother, and king, kill the whole court… This article will look at how the Buddha articulated such metaphors. Which then leads to the meaning of living alone. Possible mistakes, the writer would like to repent. 294. "After killing father and mother, Killing two Kings of Slaughter, Killing the kingdom, the courtiers Fearless, guilty of living." . 295. "After killing his mother and father, Two Brahmin kings, Killing the fifth tiger general Fearless, guilty of living." (1) In the story of the Dhammapada, It is said that, while residing at Jetavana Monastery, the Buddha recited verses 294 and 295, referring to thera Bhaddiya, a monk of short stature. At that time, some monks came to visit and pay respects to the Buddha. As they approached the Buddha, they happened to see the monk Bhaddiya nearby. The Buddha told the visiting group of monks to pay attention to the short monk and said to the crowd of monks: “Bhikkhus, look at that monk. That monk killed both his father and mother, finished killing, now there is no more suffering." The visiting monks did not understand that saying, so they asked the Buddha to explain it clearly. In that metaphor, the Buddha said that to kill "mother" is to destroy craving (craving), to kill "father" is to destroy self-grasping (conceit). Saying to kill the "two kings" in the verse means that in the monk Bhaddiya's mind there is no longer any attachment to Eternal View (accepting Eternity-belief) and Annihilation (accepting the cessation of nothingness). Annihilation-belief), to kill the "kingdom" is to see that there is no such thing as the senses (eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, mind), to kill "the gods" is to see that there is no such thing as " what is seen, what is heard, what is smelled, what is tasted, what is touched, what is measured.” In the above verse 295, the metaphor of killing mother and father is also the cessation of craving and self-grasping, killing two Brahmin kings is leaving Permanent View and Ending View, the tiger is the five hindrances. After explaining, the Buddha read verses 294 and 295. Having slain mother (craving), father (self-conceit), two warrior-kings (eternalism and nihilism), and destroyed a country (sense organs and sense objects) together with its treasurer (attachment and lust), ungrieving goes the holy man. This monk is obviously short and ugly, so the sutras when translated into English are sometimes "Bhaddiya the Dwarf" or sometimes "The Short one" --- that is, whenever he says low, listeners think of this Master. The Buddha spoke the words of inspiration from the heart: 'Above, below, everywhere is liberated, no longer thinking 'I am this'. Liberated like this, he who has crossed the floodwaters where he did not pass before, will now no longer be reborn." (3) It should be noted that: “above, below, everywhere” has many meanings. Among them, the simplest meaning is: in all cases of "past, future, present." The person who has thus "killed and destroyed" is also called a person who lives alone, lonely person. It is not simply said that the person who "lives alone" is the person who retreats to the corner of the mountain, along the forest. The Buddha once explained about the person who knows how to live alone through the SA-1071 Sutta, translated by two teachers Tue Sy, Duc Thang trich as follows: "The Most Venerable Bhikkhu said to the Buddha: "I am alone in a deserted place. , praising people who live alone, go for alms alone, go out of the village alone, meditate alone." The Buddha told the Venerable Monk: "You are a loner, I am not saying that you are not alone. But there is a more wonderful way of living alone. Why is it called a miraculous way of living alone? That is, in the front, the bhikkhu is arid, in the rear is extinct, in the middle is not greedy. That is the brahmin mind that no longer hesitates, has let go of sorrow and grief, has left all attachments to existence, and has put an end to the endings. This is called living alone, and there is no better way to live. "..." (4) The meaning of the just-quoted sutta is very clear: "arid front" means don't dream about the future, "return to extinction" means don't worry about the past, "no greed in the middle" joy" is the present, at this very moment, free from all craving in the three realms.
