Why did the Buddha choose to be born in a forest?VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH. In the life of the Buddha - our Guru - there were four great events that took place in the woods. First, He was born in the woods. Buddha's birth - Source of compassion and equality According to the custom of the country of India at that time, near the day of her birth, Queen Maya had to return to her hometown in Devadaha. But when the group went to Lumbini garden, the Queen gave birth. Buddha was born in such circumstances. It seems that he refused the palace of gold and jewels to be born in a green forest. When he attained enlightenment, he was also under the Bodhi tree. His first sermon again took place in the deer garden. There are deer running around, close to people. The next times, he sometimes also lectured in the lecture hall, but the first time he preached took place under the forest. At the end of his life, he passed away in the forest. Although he did not speak, the four major events in his life left behind an important message. Buddha's Birthday - source of happiness What is that message? First of all, we must admit that the Buddha had teachings that he did not put into words. If we have enough wisdom, we will see those teachings through His own life. Here, we only mention two important things that He left behind. The first is Meditation. Before entering Nirvana, he was just silent, lying on his side and began to enter and exit each level of concentration. We don't know, but the Saints know. At that time, Anurudha told everyone: The Blessed One had just entered the First Jhana, the Blessed One entered the Second Jhana, the Blessed One entered the Third Jhana, the Blessed One entered the Fourth Jhana, the Blessed One returned to the Third Jhana, and the Second Jhana , the first meditation, the Buddha entered the first meditation, the second meditation, the third meditation, the Buddha entered Nirvana. Why did he not enter Nirvana directly like Zen masters but had to enter and exit so many concentration levels? Is that the last extremely important teaching that He wants to pass on to posterity? Did he want his disciples to be able to enter and exit the levels of meditation so freely? That is, a meditator who wants to enter any level of meditation must enter that level of meditation. With such mastery, such freedom, we have successfully implemented His teachings. Otherwise, no matter how many scriptures we have studied, even if we can teach non-stop exercises, even if we can go abroad to study and get a doctorate, we still don't understand and can't fulfill the wordless testament. Buddha's last. Therefore, when we are young, we must study and practice at the same time. When growing up, one must both work on the path to create merit and study, but must strive to practice Zen diligently so that he can enter and exit the meditation levels as freely as his ambition, as the important message that the Buddha said. Buddha left us in the last sacred hour of his life. Understanding His deep meaning and implementing that teaching, we will see the great benefits that forests bring to human life. Understanding His deep meaning and implementing that teaching, we will see the great benefits that forests bring to human life. The symbolic meaning of Buddha's birthday The second important message we can understand is from the four great events of His life. That is the fact that he was born, attained Dao, taught the Fa for the first time, and passed away in the forest. Is it because he understands the hidden and great value hidden in the life of the trees, so he wants to teach us to love nature, to be close to nature? In the Buddha's time, this was not very important because at that time the forest had not been destroyed. But now, when the forests are destroyed so much, this has become imperative. Understanding His deep meaning and implementing that teaching, we will see the great benefits that forests bring to human life. Therefore, even though we live in an era where science and technology has made constant progress, we still remember the wordless message left by the Buddha . Modern science and technology can help people build large houses, which can bring people's lives with full amenities, but we try not to leave nature. We always keep our attachment to trees so that we can find valuable things from that place.
