II. CONTENTS OF SUTRA .VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.
1. The Brahmins of the Kosala people admired the Blessed One and came to see him. The World-Honored One introduced the true Dharma to the Brahmins so that he would be just like his trusted teacher.
2. That sure Dharma is the result of choosing the safe Dharma among the contrasting positions of contemporary Brahmins.
2.1 * A theory that advocates no retribution of good and bad karma, almsgiving, sacrifice... leading to three evil actions (body, speech, mind) and wrong views are criticized by contemporary wise people.
* One theory advocates the opposite, leading to three virtuous actions (body, speech, mind) and is praised by contemporary wise people.
- Whether or not there is retribution in the next life, living according to the first theory will lead to two disadvantages:
a) If there is no retribution in the next life, then the wise will criticize.
b) If there is retribution in the next life, then they will be reborn in the evil destination and in the lower realm.
- If living according to the second theory, there will be two benefits:
a) Currently praised by the wise.
b) If there is retribution in the next life, one will be reborn in the heavenly realm of this world.
2.2. * A theory that there is no crime in doing evil by oneself or by causing others to do evil. This theory will also lead people to the three evil actions and wrong views and will receive the two-sided adverse consequences as above.
* A theory that advocates the opposite, which will lead to three virtuous actions and Right View, will receive the above two-pronged beneficial consequences.
2.3. * A theory that advocates naturalism, without karma, will lead to three evil actions, wrong views and receive harmful consequences both in the present and in the next life.
* A theory that opposes the above theory and will lead to results that contradict the above results.
2.4. * A theory that advocates "There cannot be a complete formless".
* A theory that advocates "There is a comprehensive formless".
These positions are based on practice experience and clinging to limited perception.
If you cling to the first position, you will be reborn in a heavenly realm with form created by the will.
If you cling to the second position, you will be reborn in the formless heaven created by perception.
If you cling to the first theory, you will fall into relations with materiality such as struggle, argument, disagreement...
If you accept the second theory, it will be beneficial to achieve detachment from greed, the cessation of rupa.
2.5 * A theory that advocates "There can't be a complete destruction of existence".
* Another theory is that "There can be complete destruction of existence"
- If you accept the first theory, you will be reborn in the formless heaven created by perception. If the second theory is accepted, this event can happen: it is possible to enter Nirvana right in the present (because of existence).
- If the first theory is accepted, the mind will be biased towards greed first, craving and clinging. Accepting the latter theory will have the benefit that the mind will be inclined towards dispassion, non-before, and non-attachment.
3. At the end of the French period, the Blessed One distinguished four classes of people in the world (such as sutra 51, Kandaraka), in which the class of not ascetic self-torture is praised; This class will live in seclusion from lust: this is the holy life that the Blessed One and his disciples are engaged in.
II. TABLE MORE CODE
1. For the Brahmins who have not been entangled in any religious policy or doctrine, the World-Honored One introduced a method of choosing between contemporary doctrines based on the criteria of current interests - accepted by the people. Praise wisdom and rebirth in the next life, if it is true, it is more beneficial, if it is not true, it still does not lose the benefit in the present. This is called true Dharma, without any doubt.
The World-Honored One led gradually, from believing in Karma (instead of no cause, no karma), with Causality, to believing in the doctrine of Being rather than the doctrine of cessation; It is better to believe "there is all-round formless, all-round cessation of Being" than "There is no all-round formless, complete cessation of Being, so that in the present we can accomplish the wholesome actions of non-greed, non-hatred, and dispassion. .
Finally, it is to introduce the path of the Blessed One himself, if the Brahmins want to do it, they can try to commit themselves. He did not advocate persuading non-believers to follow Him. He does not hold that only this is right, and all is false.
2. Only the truth and only the actual witness to the truth have the power to convince the wise in the world. The Buddha convinced both intellectuals and famous pagan monks to turn to him and follow his path for that reason.
