This Dharma talk, the World-Honored One, taught Venerable Lavan to contemplate on body karma as if looking in a mirror to see clearly whether his face is dirty or clean. If we don't look in the mirror, we won't know what our face looks like. “Once upon a time, the Buddha traveled in the royal city, in the bamboo forest, in the garden of Calanda. … The Buddha asked again: - Hey Lavan, what do you think, people use mirrors for what? Lavan replied that: - World-Honored One, to see whether the face is clean or unclean. - In the same way, Lavan, if you are going to act with bodily karma, then observe that bodily karma: 'I am going to do bodily karma; Is that karma pure or impure? Do it for yourself or for others?'. If, Lavān, when contemplating this way, you know, 'I am going to do bodily karma, either for my own sake or for others' sake. That is unwholesome bodily kamma, it will lead to suffering and result in suffering'. O Lavan, you should give up the unwholesome bodily karma you are about to do. O Lavan, if, while contemplating like this, you know, 'I am going to do bodily karma, for my own sake, or for the sake of others. That is friendly karma, it will lead to happy results and will receive happy retribution'. O Lavan, do the bodily karma that you will do. – O Lavan, you are currently acting with bodily karma, observe that body karma and say: 'I am doing bodily karma; Is that karma pure or impure? Because I do it or for others?'. Hey, Lavan, when you observe like this, you know that: 'I am doing bodily karma; This body of karma is impure, because I do it or for others. That is unwholesome bodily kamma that will lead to suffering and the result of suffering. O Lavan, you should give up the karma you are doing. O Lavan, if, when contemplating like this, one knows that: 'I am doing bodily karma; It's pure karma, because I do it or for others. That kamma is good, it will lead to happy results and life will get happy retribution'. O Lavan, you should perform the bodily karma you are doing. - O Lavan, if you have acted with bodily karma, observe that body karma and say: 'I have done bodily karma; That karma is past, has ceased, has changed. Is it pure or impure? For myself or for others?'. Hey, Lavan, if you look at it like that, you know that: 'I have done bodily karma; That bodily karma is past, annihilated, changed, and that bodily karma is pure or impure, for self or for others. That kamma is unwholesome, will lead to suffering and must receive the retribution of suffering'. O Lavan, you should go to a place of virtuous people, good knowledge, willing to reveal the karma you have created, repent of your mistakes, be careful not to hide them, and then carefully preserve them. Lavan, if, when contemplating like this, one thinks: 'I have done bodily karma. That body karma is past, annihilated, changed, that body karma is pure or impure, for self or for others. That karma is good, will lead to happiness and life to get happy retribution'. O Lavan, you should be joyful day and night, abiding in mindfulness and right understanding." The practice of looking into the mirror This Dharma talk, the Blessed One taught the venerable Lavan (Rahula) to reflect on bodily karma, like looking into a mirror, and clearly seeing whether his face is dirty or clean. If we don't look in the mirror, we won't know what our face looks like. Likewise, if you don't have mindfulness to look at your body karma, what you will do, are doing, and have done, how can you know that this is a bad thing to avoid, this is a good thing to do. When you are about to do something, see it clearly. If it is evil, do not do it, if it is good, try to do it. When you are doing something, you must see it clearly. If it's pure, do it, if it's impure, don't do it. When you've done something, even if it's over, you still need to reflect on it. If the body does evil, it is necessary to repent and repent, and if it is good, be happy and continue to live a good, peaceful and mindful life towards right wisdom. If you do that, your body will soon become pure and pure.END=NAMO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.11/6/2021.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.
