Does anger have any effect? VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.
Anger or anger is a very common human psychological state. Almost everyone has been angry, at some point, to some degree, when faced with an unsatisfactory person or condition.
In the Dhammapada, anger is defined as "the impatience, harm, opposition, opposition, aggression, rudeness, and displeasure of the mind".
As a mentality, anger has no form, but it is easy to recognize when one is angry, because anger manifests itself very clearly in the body. As psychology describes, “anger is manifested with bloodshot eyes, ferocious brows, gnashing of teeth, biting lips, clenched fists, chest beatings, smashing, fighting, stabbing, killing, etc…” . There are also some people who express their anger in a profound way by staying silent despite the heat in their hearts. But even in that case, the angry person is not friendly at all, not pleasant at all, and this affects a lot of his relationship with those around him.
When angry, the face becomes ugly and unsightly. So we need to practice according to the five ways that the Buddha taught to transform anger, not to let anger dominate and harm our lives.
When angry, the face becomes ugly and unsightly. So we need to practice according to the five ways that the Buddha taught to transform anger, not to let anger dominate and harm our lives.
Transform anger into love .
Regarding the harm of anger, in the Samyutta Nikaya (Anger Sutra, chapter Undeclared), the Buddha mentioned seven things that happen to an angry person:
"The Male-stilts, what kind of person is angry, is overcome by anger, is dominated by anger, even though he is well-washed, well-groomed, then he also becomes ugly; even if they lie on the mattress, wool blanket, they still sleep miserably; reap the disadvantage, think 'I gain', reap the unprofitable, think 'I get no benefit'. These things are held to make others hostile, leading to unhappiness, long-term suffering; Whatever possessions they had acquired by ardor ardor, stored up by the strength of their arms, accumulated by their sweats, lawful, lawfully harvested, they were brought back by the king. the king's treasury; if any fame is obtained by not being distracted, it shuns them; if that person has close friends, blood relatives, they will avoid, forsake him, for he is conquered by wrath; that person does evil deeds with the body, that person speaks evil deeds with words, that person thinks of evil deeds with the mind, when the body breaks up, at the end of life, that person is reborn in a bad realm, in an evil destination, in the lower realms, in hell."
Because of such harm, we need to control our anger. In the Sutra of the Sangha (Hatred), the Buddha taught:
“There are these five annihilation of hatred, bhikkhus, here a bhikkhu whose hatred has arisen must be completely eliminated. What is the year?
In whom, bhikkhus, hatred is born, in that person Metta should be cultivated. Thus in that person, hatred must be eliminated.
- In someone, hatred is born, in that person, compassion (karuna) needs to be cultivated. Thus in that person, hatred must be eliminated.
If you are salty, you will lose your taste, if you are angry, you will lose your wisdom; or when anger arises, it burns up the whole forest of merit.
Overcoming anger
- In someone, hatred is born, in that person, Equanimity needs to be cultivated. Thus in that person, hatred must be eliminated.
- In someone, hatred is born, in that person, No-thought, no-attention should be realized. Thus in that person, hatred must be eliminated.
- In any person, hatred is born, in that person, the fact that the karma created by oneself needs to be cultivated is: 'The venerable is the owner of the karma, the heir of the karma, the origin of the karma, the relative. of karma, is the refuge of karma. Whatever good or bad karma is done, the false Religion will be the heir to that karma'. Thus in that person, hatred must be eliminated.
There are five, bhikkhus, for the elimination of this enmity, herein the aversion arising for a bhikkhu must be completely eliminated.
It is often said, salty, loss of taste, anger, loss of wisdom; or when anger arises, it burns up the whole forest of merit. When angry, the face becomes ugly and unsightly. So we need to practice according to the five ways that the Buddha taught to transform anger, not to let anger dominate and harm our lives.END=NAMO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.4/6/2021.
