Humans have sign language, Buddhism has the meaning of mudra. Each Buddhist mudra is depicted in hand seals to describe the state of mind with its own special connotation. Understanding the meaning of mudra will help nourish the soul and practice revitalizing the energy flow in each person's body.
MANUAL MEDITATION – CENTER YOUR MIND
Buddha statue in mudra meditation when the two hands are placed in the lap, the back of the right hand rests on the left palm, two index fingers lightly touching each other. The Buddha used this mudra to concentrate his thoughts highly, representing wisdom that has reached the realm of enlightenment, freed from the phenomenal world and the discriminating mind. This mudra helped the Buddha reach enlightenment during his last meditation under the Bodhi tree.
UNDERSTANDING SPRING – NO FEAR
The fearless mudra is shown by bringing the right hand at shoulder height, palm facing outward, fingers extended. The left hand is placed in the lap, gently comfortable, palm facing up. This mudra implies that the Buddha after enlightenment was no longer afraid of all events, whether enemies or adversities, and overcame all the sufferings of the mundane world. According to Buddhist history, he used this mudra against a wild elephant that was attacking him.
PRIVATE PRINCIPLE – FRIENDLY
The candidate's right hand is placed close to the knee, the extended finger is relaxed downward, and the palm is facing forward. The left hand is placed across the abdomen, palm facing up to relax. The five extended fingers represent the five precious virtues: generosity, morality, patience, effort, and focus. This mudra represents compassion, compassion and honesty. It is also a sign of giving, giving, welcoming and opening the heart. Volunteering for mudra is the inner heart of the Buddha when he has fulfilled his wish to liberate humanity.
TEACHING HAND MARK – A CALL FOR PEACE
Teaching mudra is shown when the index finger of the right hand touches the thumb to form a circle, keeping the other fingers straight up, palm facing out. The left hand is relaxed so that it is horizontal to the abdomen. This mudra is also called the seal of justification because it was used by the Buddha to call on people to solve problems through thinking and reasoning. The circle on the right hand represents the constant flow of energy and information. The Buddha used this seal during the teaching phase of his life.
CHANGE THE FRANCE OF SURVIVAL MARKET – WHEEL OF RESPIRATION
With the Dharma wheel turning, the left hand is facing the body, the right hand is facing out. In each hand, the index finger and thumb touch each other to form two mysterious circles near the heart, then the tip of the left middle finger touches the circle of the right hand. These circles represent the dharma wheel moving so that the cosmic energy flows ceaselessly in the form of chakras, while the teachings are passed through the heart.
KEEP BINH TU - A PEACEFUL DAY
This mudra has the position of two hands placed on top of each other, the back of the right hand is on the left palm, the two hands are stretched out to raise the bowl. This pose describes the daily life of the Buddha, divided into five periods: morning, noon, first watch, middle watch, and last watch. In particular, he often maintained the peace of the predestined people and took food in the morning. This posture is quite familiar in life because it is often sketched by sculptors depicting the daily life of the Buddha.
GEOGRAPHICAL EXPOSURE – SYMPTOMS OF FAITH
The Buddha shows the position of touching the ground mudra when the right fingers are extended down to the knee, the palm is facing in, and the left hand is placed flat on the abdomen as in the meditation seal. This seal speaks of indomitable faith and unshakable power to subdue.
According to the Buddhist Commentary, when the Buddha sat in meditation under the Bodhi tree on the night of the full moon of the month of Vesak, Mara appeared, threatened to drive him away and challenged: "Who is the witness to know that this seat is yours?
