What is the true generation of Bodhicitta?VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.
Having one heart on the Buddhist path is the first task when you want to complete that task, then all thoughts must be focused on Buddhism without a moment of forgetting, even less in the middle of a step back.

Again in the Promotion of Bodhicitta by Dharma Master Dien Boi Dich on pages 65-67, Master Tinh Am taught: "Having not sought gain and fame, and did not covet pleasure and retribution, just for the sake of liberating birth and death, Because of the enlightenment of Bodhi, he generates a mind, generates such a mind, is called "right" again: "With one heart above the Buddha path, one heart below saving sentient beings. Listen to the Buddha's long and far away path, not to be scared back; seeing sentient beings difficult, not tired. Like climbing a mountain high, one must climb to the top; Like going up a nine-story tower, you must go to the top. Generate mind like that, called "legs".
Any other religion, in its teachings, has never shown people how to solve the problem of life and death, or even taught people to pray for longevity, like Taoism in China, or teaches people to pray for eternal life and immortality, like Christianity today.
Any other religion, in its teachings, has never shown people how to solve the problem of life and death, or even taught people to pray for longevity, like Taoism in China, or teaches people to pray for eternal life and immortality, like Christianity today.
Having said that, we have finished talking about generating the wrong mind, now let's talk about the righteous mind. The aspirational thought mentioned here and the one mentioned above are completely opposite. The above comes from the desire to gain gain and gain, to like to be famous... the type of aspiration mentioned below, did not seek benefits and did not like it. Fame; The above comes from the desire to seek pleasure in the present, the retribution for the future... below, has not been greedy for the present pleasure, and does not expect future retribution, with one heart and one mind, just for the sake of liberation from birth and death, Because of the enlightenment of Bodhi, he developed the mind to practice. Such a development is called "main". Developing the mind to save birth and death, at first glance, it seems that it is only to free oneself, but in fact, the only purpose of studying Buddhism is to solve the big problem of birth and death, this life continues teho life. another, forming an unceasing flow of life. This stream of life sinks in the pool of suffering and birth and death. That is the great tribulation!
The biggest difference between Buddhism and other religions is in this big issue. Any other religion, in its teachings, has never shown people how to solve the problem of life and death, or even taught people to pray for longevity, like Taoism in China, or teach people to pray for eternal life and immortality, like Christianity today. According to the Buddhist doctrine, sentient beings in this world, unless they are not born, but have been born, cannot fail to die. If you want not to die, you must first not be born.
When you have generated your mind, you must proceed to make it resilient, even if there are times when "I heard that the Buddha's path is long and far away, I don't give birth to fear", first of all, I must admit that I am still a miserable ordinary person, starting from point is the ordinary person until the final point of attaining Buddhahood.
The so-called immortality, eternal life, frankly, is just deceiving fools. From time immemorial, has anyone seen a person who is immortal or eternal? Still birth and death, death and birth, birth and death ceaselessly. Therefore, true Buddhist learners, absolutely not to seek eternal life, eternal life, only develop the mind to liberate birth and death, only generate the mind to seek unsurpassed Bodhi. The day that the goal has not been reached, that day will continue to pursue the above-mentioned goal.
Generating Bodhicitta has two great tasks: One is to seek the Buddha's path for self-benefit, the other is to save sentient beings below. Having one heart on the Buddhist path is the first task when you want to complete that task, then all thoughts must be focused on Buddhism without a moment of forgetting, even less in the middle of a step back. A life under the transformation of sentient beings is part of the second task. When you want to complete that task, you must wholeheartedly transform sentient beings without any selfishness.
The thing is, when you have generated your mind, you have to go ahead and make it resilient, even if there are times when "I heard that the Buddha's path is long and far away, I don't give birth to fear", I must first admit that I am still a miserable ordinary person , starting from the point of being ordinary people to the final point of attaining Buddhahood, in the middle is a long, arduous path. Saying "the Bodhi path is far away" is like that. The Bodhi path from ordinary people to Buddhahood is very long and cannot be completed in a short time. Those who generate the Bodhi mind cannot, because they hear that the Bodhi path is far away, be afraid of retreating, but must have an incalculable courage, develop a fearless bravery, overcome all difficulties, and eliminate all difficulties. all obstacles, with the will not yet reaching the goal, go all the way to that far-reaching Bodhi path.
To be steadfast in your aspiration, now let me give an example: "If you climb a mountain with ten thousand patience, you must climb to the top". Ten thousand rings high is to say the height of the mountain. According to the old way in our country, eight meters is one ring, ten thousand rings is eighty thousand meters.

Also, "seeing sentient beings difficult to save, do not give birth to boredom tired". In terms of numbers, sentient beings are immeasurable, immeasurable, innumerable, and in terms of nature, each person has a different identity. The sentient beings are pure, of course easily converted, but most of them are stubborn and unruly. Meeting those rebellious and defiant beings, not only will not accept my teachings, but also may release insults. Even with their feet kicking and punching, meeting such beings, the Bodhisattva practitioner must endure the challenge, determined not only because of that, not to give rise to boredom and fatigue, but also to generate compassion and feeling Seeing that these sentient beings are too stupid, if we don't convert, who else will come to convert them? From there, to find a way to teach, to make that sentient being subject to the teaching and go up the Buddha's path.
Ten thousand rings high mountain is eighty thousand meters high mountain. Just as we climb a mountain, it is impossible for the mountain to rise because of the fear of retreating. To be able to widen your eyes, you have to go to the top to be able to see the whole four sides. For example, if you climb halfway up the mountain and then back down, there are so many landscapes, how to enjoy
Manjushri is often seen sitting on a lion. The lion, the lord of the forest, symbolizes the fearless mind. When there are no more dark thoughts in the mind, and when wisdom shines, the heart will be free from fear.
Thereby, we think of the examples of Bodhisattvas who generate genuine Bodhicitta. Bodhisattvas are living and real characters in our world. Their stories we know little, though their appearances are numerous. However, the Buddhist scriptures teach that these Bodhisattvas have a symbolic meaning to teach us to reflect and imitate their example. Here are a few key bodhisattvas to help us reflect on their example.
+ Samantabhadra Bodhisattva: Called the Bodhisattva of Great Action, because he represents the spirit of diligence, practicing all dharmas without tiring, without interruption, without limit. He is often pictured undoing a six-tusked white elephant. Elephants are a symbol of certainty, a steady walk of religious practice. The six ivory tusks represent the six basic perfections.
+ Manjushri Bodhisattva: Called the Bodhisattva of Great Wisdom, because he symbolizes human cultivation as true faith, and fruition as wisdom and wisdom. He is both the mother of faith and the mother of wisdom. Manjushri is often seen sitting on a lion. The lion, the lord of the forest, symbolizes the fearless mind. When there are no dark thoughts in the mind, and wisdom shines, the heart will be free from fear. His hand sometimes holds a book of Prajna, sometimes holds a sword of wisdom, sometimes holds a tree as he wishes. Such is a weapon representing authority, get whatever you want, very free and free; so it symbolizes wisdom and wisdom, making us free from oppression and oppression. Studying His example is learning how to practice in all circumstances, afflictions and karma.
A big belly can endure and forgive things that are difficult for people to forgive. Wide mouth laughs, laughs at the funny things of the world. Learning His good example is learning tolerance, infinite peace.
+ Bodhisattva Guanyin: He represents infinite compassion, ready to save suffering and rescue, without distinguishing between good and bad people. He is an example for us to learn how to develop and educate others. Usually we see Guanyin holding a bottle of orange juice in his hand, and holding a branch of yang chi. The vase of oranges is said to hold all the water in the four seas: it symbolizes the depth and breadth of great compassion, which can cover all states of mind. Orange juice is the water of great compassion, which can dispel the fire of anger. The soft willow branch is gentle, like squishy, bringing purity, eliminating poisonous diseases. Studying his example is imitating great compassion, loving sentient beings unconditionally.
+ Maitreya Bodhisattva: He represents kindness, flexibility, tolerance, as a support for all sentient beings, making everyone feel the warmth and true love. He is an example for us to learn how to treat sentient beings. Although Maitreya's generals are full of 32 marks like Buddha, as usual we see him in the form of the great monk Father: A monk with a round belly, a fan in his hand, a bag in his hand, walking everywhere. His round belly is a symbol of tolerance and gentleness. There is a poem praising him that:
“The level of foolishness, the tolerance of the world, the tolerance of things.
The oral declaration is often humorous, the world's jokes are laughable."
Meaning: A big belly can endure and forgive things that are difficult to forgive. Wide mouth laughs, laughs at the funny things of the world. Learning His good example is learning tolerance, infinite peace.
Those who practice Buddhism, need to choose for themselves bright examples, follow them to learn to generate the Bodhi mind, then it can be called a genuine mind. The person who generates the lemon mind is extremely precious.

+ Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha: He symbolizes filial piety and boundless patience for sentient beings. He is the representative of the great perfection of vows. Usually, he holds a staff in his hand and a pearl in his hand. The staff has 12 golden rings, when thrown, it makes a clanking sound, vibrates and shatters the gates of hell. The scepter represents the wisdom that breaks the 12 causes of birth and death. His pearls can illuminate the dark realms of hell, causing sentient beings to suffer. When they see the light, they will immediately come out of the darkness. Pearl is the symbol of wisdom that shines through our gloomy and afflicted hearts. Studying the example of Ksitigarbha is to learn to be filial to all sentient beings. Often self-enlightening, as well as sacrificing oneself to achieve others.
+ Bodhisattva Dai Shi Chi: He represents diligence, perseverance in practice. While Avalokitesvara represents the rebirth aspect of the Pure Land Dharma, the Chi Chi represents the specialized aspect of renunciation. He often holds a lotus flower, symbolizing pure practice, even in the realm of impurity. Studying His example is learning fearlessness, not imitating bad examples, the influence of bad people around you. I am only influenced by people or truths I want. That's called will power. Once we have decided to practice, we maintain our will to no longer doubt and neglect. That is the spirit of the Great Buddha.
In short, people who practice Buddhism need to choose for themselves bright examples, follow them to learn and develop the Bodhi mind, then it can be called a genuine mind. The person who generates the lemon mind is extremely precious.END=NAMO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.4/6/2021.
