CHAPTER III
Lesson 14
TAM PASS IS ONLY ( Appanācittavīthi ).
I. DEFINITIONS.
Called the víthi- citta  An  ( appanācittavīthi ), because at this time, the mind rests on the scene (ā rammaṇa ) into a point ( ekaggaṃ ).
Analyzing the word  appanā  is:
Thematic   + prefix  ape  +  Ana .
Core   is "Going" plus the first  phrase Ape  is "cause".
When connecting ( sandhi ), delete  I, P  to  PP
I + APE = APPE E  meet  A  to  Ā, Ā  meet  PP  becomes  A , again delete  A , become  Appanā.
APPE + ANĀ = APPĀ + ANĀ = APPA + ANĀ APPA + ANĀ = APPANĀ .
Elder  Buddhaghosa  (Buddha Yin) the definition from  Appanā  is " Turn to or not into one", as follows:
-  Ekaggaṃ cittaṃ ārammaṇe appenti.
"The mind and the object gather into one point"

Appanā  is a form of vitakkacetasika that has developed highly, become Zen.
So: An Ancestral Path is just a process of mind activation when meditation has developed highly.
II. BRIEF ABOUT MEDITATION:
Meditation ( jhāna ) originates from Jhe  Root Language  meaning SUY GAM.
Mr.  Buddhaghosa  explained the word  Jhāna  as follows:
Ārammaṇa upanijjhānato paccanīka jhāpanato and jhānaṃ .
"Calling Zen because of meditative thinking on the subject"; or "because of the burning of the negative ( n phápvaraṇa  - obstacle) should be called Meditation".
Meditation has two types:  Samathakamaṭṭhāna  (Pure Land of Origin) and Vipassanākammaṭṭhāna  ( Karma of  Origin).
A. Pure Land:
The practitioner when practicing the Pure Land will choose to take one of the 40 headings of the Dharma of Righteousness as the main subject to practice. Forty items are:
10 headings Complete ( Kasina )
10 items Death exam
10 items Customary concept ( anusati )
immeasurable four headings: From ( mettā ), Bi ( karunā ), Hy ( muditā ), Discharge ( upekkhā )
1 title breath out - go to (ā nāpanā )
1 subject can be skated ( asubha  - unkind )
4 headings invisible ( arūpa )
1-Title brought to attain Meditation.
- 10 headings Customary thoughts ( anusati ) are: Mindfulness of the Buddha, mindfulness of the Dharma, mindfulness of the Buddha's grace, the gift of virtue of virtue, the gift of virtue (father), the mindfulness of virtue (letter) Heaven, mindfulness of mindfulness (ie Nibbana), reciting the death, contemplating the real object and analyzing the four elements only takes the practitioner to the Precious ( upacārasamādhi ), cannot proceed further. That is, it is impossible to show the power to enter into the meditation scene ( jhānārammaṇa ), only to be able to access the scene.
- 30 items left the practitioner witnessed An meditation only ( appanāsamādhi ) or called DAC.
Depending on the nature of the subject, the progress of meditation is different and low.
In these 30 headings:
- Ten corpse items, asubha headings only lead to the first stage of meditation.
- Three headings From ( mettā ), Bi ( karunā ) and Hy ( muditā ) attain Sr., Nhi, Tam meditation (four steps meditation).
- Headings of Discharge ( upekkhā ) only attain the Four Noble Truths (four steps meditation).
- 11 items reaching from Zen meditation to the Four Noble Truths are  Kasina headings  and breath headings.
- 4 Immortal titles: No boundless origin, Infinite boundless origin, Infinite possession and African thought non-ideal origin does not attain the best Meditation meditation but only attained the invisible meditation ( arūpajhāna ).
Meditation subject suitable for the body (carita).
Each practitioner has 6 potentialities: Tanh, Tanh, Tanh, Tanh, Tanh and Tanh.
In the daily life, one of these 6 outstanding features is called the person with the same character, as the person with the greed, the person with the nature ...
The subject of the corpse, can be defeated, reciting the death suitable for the person strong greed.
Six headings depending on the mindfulness of the Buddha, Dharma, Sangha, and Precepts, Thien and Thien are suitable for those with strong faith.
The four headings of the Four Immeasurable Minds are suitable for those who have heavy grounds.
People who are inclined to Tanh Giac are suitable with the concept of mindfulness, analyzing the four elements, contemplating real objects and breathing.
Ten  Kasina headings are  suitable for all faculties .
2- Reason.
Practitioners practice Pure need to understand that: "this practice ( bhāvanā ), take Mindfulness ( sati ) and Thought ( saññā ) as a Master". Although
taking the base ( paramattha ) as a means, but trying to put the name as: Land, fire, wind ... so the meditation scene of the landlord is just a concept, a decision-making scene, not an entity. .
The process of practicing the Pure Land of the practitioner, is progressed as follows:
First, the practitioner chooses an item that is appropriate to his or her nature to create a judgment.
For example, taking land as a subject, the practitioner creates a Kasina circle   with a diameter of about 3 inches, using clay with pink color like the sun at dawn, plastering for  kasina, shaving for smooth smoothness. This  kasina  is called the General ( parikamanimitta) .
Practitioners pay attention to " pathavī, pathavī (earth, earth)"  ... noting that Kasinacircle   , trying to get rid of the thoughts, the mind completely focused on the land, a time after the Visibility manifested. strong, the practitioner closed his eyes and still saw the Prime Minister in his mind, then called the Prime Minister
Because of this Prime Minister when blurred, at the time of his death, the practitioner tried to recite to keep it, so it was called the General ( uggahanimitta).
Practitioners persistently gather mind and mind, then Tri General ( uggahanimitta) is strong, which means that the Fourth part of Zen is revealed. Practitioners re-processing notes to recite the  General General  continuously, arise Hy.
When the Hy chi manifests the power (ie, attaining fullness of joy), a new form of power arises, called  Paṭibhāganimitta  (Quang Quang or Pure Land).
Quang minister is different from Tri minister at the point: Tri minister still retains the image of the original land project ( parikammanimitta ), which means the sentence of  kasina At first there were protrusions, there were cracks of clay when dry ... then Tri minister remained like that. On the contrary, the Minister of General Affairs completed these shortcomings, the land project is now illuminated, smooth like polished conch shells, round and also cracked cracks, then the land of judgment was like 1 vien Hong Large jade is suspended between nowhere.
When the Bliss manifests its full power, the General becomes more stable and the Practitioner attains nearness ( upacārasamādhi ).
Practitioners persistently recite  pathivī, pathivī  ... into the General, at some point suddenly breaking the "barrier" is the last obstacle, the mind can enter into the meditation scene to become the most complete. points, called DAC.
The reason for 10 items of Mindfulness ( anusati) is not determined because:
Six items depending on the Buddha, Dharma, Sangha, Precepts, and God have deep profound virtues, practitioners cannot overcome the last obstacle to be "barriers" to advance into samadhi that is, the mind cannot integrate with that deep grace. cannot integrate into the general seal ( nimitta ) to get the  most points , so only reach the samadhi.
Headings of President Pure Land are the deep grace of Níp-Nibbana  (nibbāna) , practitioners cannot break the "barrier", so they only reach the Precepts.
Contemplating death, pressing General  Paṭibhāga  is the cessation of death, so chi cannot also settle into "destroy" (because both mind and mind are lost at that time).
Visualizations of real objects and analysis of the four great, the mind of the Practitioner forever analyzing the meditation scene of the parish, so it is not suspended to a point.
The ten entries of corpses and headings could be why only Preliminary is reached but cannot proceed further?
The generals of these items are present and strong because they rely on the strength of the range. When the Expenditure is lost, the General of these items cannot be initiated, but if he wants to achieve the Second Meditation, he must lose the Range - Four, so the meditation scene is not available. For example, water (spending range) is a place to rely on for fish (meditation), water is lost, fish die.
Other titles that are impressive  (nimitta) the manifestation is due to the power of the range, but when a strong seal is pressed then it is possible to not need the limb. For example, if the student relies on the teacher to become talented, when he is good he may not be able to rely on the teacher to develop his talent.
At the preliminary stage of meditation, the three headings, Tu - Bi - Hy want to break the barrier to enter into the scene, must have a homogenous state  of the object .
As the title From, for example, when the  General is  born, the practitioner must have an integrated psychology that no longer distinguishes himself from the object.
Mr.  Buddhaghosa  gave an example as follows: There were robbers who captured 4 people, the robbers told a person in the group that "We need the blood of a person to sacrifice fire, so choose one to sacrifice".
Among those three, there are enemies, relatives and non-relatives. Because he has a heart so he does not choose one of the other three, but if he chooses himself, he cannot be called homogeneous because he or she is differentiated.
He will think: "Each sentient being will follow his karma, let the bandits choose", then call the object of homogeneity.
When the object is not homogenous, it does not break the barrier of concentration, when breaking the barrier of concentration, it can be entered into the Origin.
Because from the Sister, Nhi, Tam meditation, the practitioner has practiced like that, when the practitioner wants to reach the Fourth Meditation, one has to focus on renouncing the mind of meditation, which is in accordance with the state of  Upekkhā (discharge)., therefore, the title "Discharge only attained" is the Fourth Meditation and the calm state before the object is only for the Discharge, The word - Bi - Hy but calmly before the object is no longer the word - Bi - Hy.
About the body (carita) of the practitioner.
Some Teachers believe that " due to the realm of the previous world" .
As some sentient beings from the Dragon realm, Asuradeva realms   (A Tu La Thien), the hell realm gives birth to the human realm, will be the one with the heavy nature, the
hungry ghost realm (petabhūmi) being born again, will be heavy on the mind. . The realm of being born again is the one who will be heavy on ignorance.
In the celestial realm or the Brahma being human, it will be the person who has the Tanh or the Enlightenment. We acknowledge this opinion.
The Commentaries say that "due to the death of those beings ".
When dying, there is a strong personality ( hetu ) that will affect the nature of those beings in the next life.
The cause has six: greed, anger, ignorance, ignorance and ignorance.
If people who are about to die are strong people, weak, weak, weak-minded, strong and strong, when being born, people will be happy people (due to weak stadium - strong field), yes position (due to weak humanity - strong humanity), but multi-attachment (because of strong attachment - weak humanity).
People who are about to die have a strong infinite personality, a weak person, a strong personality, when being reborn as a human, there will be less greed, less intellectuality and ease of anger.
People who are about to die are strong people, strong people, strong people, when being reborn as human beings will be people with multi-yard, multi-mindedness, little greed ...
B- Made in the country.
Practitioners practice Quan nghiep origin, ie practice the practice of the four foundations of mindfulness ( satipaṭṭhāna ). That is:
Contemplation in the body.
Life in life.
Mind in mind.
Dharma in France.
When practicing  Vipassanākammaṭṭhàṇa (karma of origin) , mainly promoting the power of mindfulness ( sati ) and mind ( ñāṇa ).
Wanting to reach the practice of  vipassanā , one must follow the two foundations of meditation Only, that is near-up ( upacārasamādhi ) and An designate ( appanā samādhi ), samadhi ( khaṇasamādhi)  is attributed to the Precepts .
1. Explanation
The reason for the four foundations of mindfulness is that, in order to eliminate the madness of the mind ( vipallāsadhamma ).
Contemplation to eradicate Pure Land ( subhasaññā ). Consume
to eliminate karma ( sukhasaññā ).
Mindfulness to eradicate Common sense ( niccasaññā ).
The Dharma is easy to eradicate the ego ( attasanna ).
For people with rough craving, ie heavy on craving, the Buddha taught mindfulness to eradicate rough craving.
For those who love the subtle, ie beings who enjoy the peacefulness of compounded vi, the Buddha recites the Life to eliminate subtle craving.
For people with severe wrong views, accept the "constant constant" The Buddha taught mindfulness to see the impermanence of compounded dharma.
For people with wrong views, the Buddha taught Dharma thoughts to subtract the thought from accepting one real self.
In short, the law of the four foundations of mindfulness has the purpose of suppressing and eradicating craving ( taṅhā ).
Practitioners need to understand that: In the four French Mindfulness of the mind, two dharmas of mindfulness - mindfulness of life are achieved from the power of  no-mindedness  ( alobha ) and  unseen  ( adosa ), mindfulness - mindfulness of dhamma is accomplished through power of  infinity ( amoha).  Therefore, a person with a strong will will contemplate the body in the body, the person who has the strong will will be able to enjoy the life in the longevity.
It should also be noted that: For the Pure Land method, Tri assisted Dinh to show his strength, on the contrary, in the Dharmakaya, he re-assisted the Tri Dao. Therefore, practitioners must also rely on Dinh, at least to be close to meditation .
2. The benefits of the Pure Land.
The saint attained supreme , but not yet attained An designation, known as sukhavipassanāThe Sacred Host could not stay in the mind and enter the Meditation meditation to enjoy the Nibbana.
The Saint before attaining Dao, having attained An designation, can stay in the meditation floor and attain (before attaining the Path) to receive the Nibbana as a scene to enjoy the Nip-Desk.
There are also five benefits of pure Zen meditation:
a) Current residence.
For a human being or a Saint, when he feels uncomfortable due to the disturbance of the five scenes, he will stay in the Pure Land meditation to be at peace.
The Arhat Saint has destroyed the contraband or  (āsava). still practicing meditation only because I think: I will witness and stay one-pointedly one day ... to help the four great bodies not be disturbed by the weather
b) Being the foundation towards liberation.
As a noble or a Saint who learns when practicing the Quan Minh, it is necessary to have  Dinh , at least to be aware of ( upacārasamādhi ), because this is beneficial to  Wisdom , to help the practitioner attain the Path - the Supremacy .
As the teaching of the Buddha: - "Behold, the rate of pretentious, please practice, a monk, the stilts of calmness will be right." (Minor Kinh).
c) Witness the Winners (abhinññāṇa).
Winning here is the name of all kinds of divine powers such as: Thien Nhan Thong, Thien Nhan Thong, Tuc Thong Thong, Than Chi Thong and Tha Thong Thong.
d) Born in Pham Thien Gioi.
When mortal witnesses attain Enlightenment, do not sabotage Dinh, when the common destiny will be born into the realm of meditation (jhānabhūmi), I have attained.
On the other hand, if the practitioner has not attained the An plan, only attainment is attained when the common destiny is also reborn in the heavenly realms of sex.
e) Enjoy the state of temporary Nip-Tables.

For the Saints of the Three Noble Truths, or the Uncivil Saints, having the foundation of meditation as non-idealistic non-idealistic thoughts, it is easy to reach the goal of Killing the Immeasurable Nibbana, temporarily in the present.END=NAM MO SAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=THICH CHAN TANH.VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.31/12/2018.
