Pure Land Where Now And Here.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=THICH CHAN TANH.

I. INTRODUCTION
“ If in the past, the Buddha only presented a single method, for example, one is meditation, two are pure, three are secret… or Dharma Buddhism, Law of Buddhism, Thien Thai Tong, Hoa Nghiem cardboard… good time. know what. Because I see not only in Vietnam, but even in Japan, China or all countries that practice Buddhism, there are often conflicts, though there is not much between Buddhists. different factions . "
I answered, "Even though I have the wisdom of the three great heavenly kingdoms in the world like Xa Loi Loi, it is not equal to Buddha. The Buddha saw all the time, so he knew the basis of sentient beings to display different means ”. Do you see that in a family of five children, all five children are doctors? There are also people doing this job or other jobs that are not the same. With skillful means, Buddha gave many disciplines. When Buddha entered Nirvana, divided into twenty sects.
Due to those concerns, today we would like to share and raise it for you. Now in my country, Vietnam, although there are many tones, but mainly still three main tones: Meditation, Tinh, Mat. After a period of research and practice, we found that the three dharma s are in fact one. Why? Because in the spiritual practice of the Buddhist, there is both a reason and just a sense. Sometimes the Buddha talks about things, sometimes the Buddha talks about reason. In Tu Lieu Gian, Zen Master Vinh Minh Dien Tho said: “ There is Zen, there is Pure Land as well as tiger horn. No Zen, no Pure Land, copper beds and iron poles. Eternal lives and thousands of lives, no one helps . " This means that if we practice Zen again, we will have the same power as a tiger growing horns. But in Zen Buddhism there is a story: A monk asked Zen master Zhaozhou: "What is reciting Buddha's name? ”. Answer: "If a Buddhist monk chant a sentence, he must rinse his mouth for three days ". Due to this saying, even Buddhists and monks today have not grasped this issue or discussed it yet. In fact, I did not understand, but in that moment, because this monk was so attached to Buddha's recitation, the Zen Master wanted to remove the latch and let him take one more step.
There is a Buddhist who said that in the past, he practiced the Pure Land method very effectively. One day he went to see Venerable Van Duc and asked: " What is reciting Buddha's name? Seeing that he was ripe, the Venerable said a strong sentence: " Reciting Buddha's name is delusion ." Immediately he realized, now lives very serene and peaceful. But it is for those who have practiced for a long time that the Venerable said so, the goal is to push the practitioner deeper, but also for the beginner, who have just entered the Dao, if they say reciting Buddha's name is delusion, then they will always recite the Buddha's name and then create evil deeds.
Ajahn Chah recounted that one day someone asked him, " Master, what is Ajahn Chah?" Is that taste? ”. Seeing that this person did not understand much about the dharma, he pointed to himself and replied, "This is the Zen master Ajahn Chah ." Another time, another practitioner asked, " Master, who is Ajahn Chah?" ”. Knowing that this person was well-trained, he said, " There is no one in the world, Ajahn Chah ." Then, once, an American layperson came to ask Zen Master Ajahn Chah: " Why do you say that you sometimes say that you sometimes have no self, and sometimes you say goodness, sometimes you talk good, and then you have when he said Buddha, sometimes he said no Buddha? ”. The Zen master replied, "For example, if a person walks on the edge of the field, is he to the left, what should he do now? Must support them to the right. If the person is leaning to the right, support them to the left. It is only a skillful means to photograph living beings . "
So you see, for novices who have heard that there is no Zen Master, no Buddha, Dharma, Sangha, no meditation, or reciting Buddha's name, surely people will create evil dhammas prison. And long-time practitioners, mature, want to uproot that root, then they used a way to push that person to rise up.
So in the Lankavatara Sutta the Buddha taught:
I became enlightened that night
That night Nirvana
In the middle of this
I did not say anything
Duyen self-propelled France
So I said that
That Buddha is with us
There is no difference .
During the 49 days and nights of meditation, Buddha enlightenment entered the Buddha's view, very clear that this dharma has no words, no texts. Which beings, too much craving, if said this, who will believe? The Buddha hesitated, intending to enter the Immeasurable Nirvana realm, not educating beings. At this time, Brahma asked the Buddha three times to use the skillful means of educating sentient beings. Beings are still ignorant, but in that delusion, there is still the seed of knowledge of the Buddha, so the Buddha has the means to say the three vehicles, the twelve parts of the teachings, or to say other than establishing many sects mainly to uproot the sentiment of sentient beings. You see Zen, Tinh, Mat, Hoa Nghiem, Phap Hoa ..., all disciplines, who are the ancestors? Are Buddha Shakyamuni.
For example, a mountain on which there is a temple. There are three ways to go to that temple: the east, the west and the south. People in the east go to the east, people in the west go west, people in the south go south. Either way, the three of us eventually meet at the temple, because our common goal when cultivating is to calm our minds and bright minds to reach that perfect glass-saving place.
So today, we want to share with you the subject of "The Pure Land - That Place, Now and Here ", in order to highlight the Pure Land so that you can see beyond what the Buddha taught. there is also a hidden wisdom in it, from which you leap and go straight into the Land of Buddha's Bliss. After grasping it, if anyone is predestined to cultivate Zen, he or she will boldly cultivate, if anyone is predestined to cultivate Pure Land, then he is also bravely committed. All are true, there is no wrong.
II. EVERY STEP TO GO IS INTO THE NET
The word " Tinh ", in Chinese, translates as being free of the defilements of greed, hatred, delusion, ignorance, suspicion, ants, jealousy, and jealousy. The word " Degrees " means the realm, which if there are still the flames of lust, fire of hatred, ignorance, ignorance, fire, it is not the pure land. That is, if the ten directions of Buddha's realm still have those flames, it is not called the Pure Land. Obviously.
In Zen Meditation, Zen Master Bach An educates them a lot, He also uses many skillful means to subdue sentient beings. One day, a lay disciple, also close with the Zen Master, came to the monastery with a very sad face. The Zen master asked the reason, and he replied, " I have a father, and I also want him to recite the Buddha's name daily, recite sutras, repent, practice and do good deeds. I told him that he is also old, should recite sutras, recite the Buddha's name, and wait for a while . But my father and I said, 'If we recite one sentence of Buddha and throw out a coin, we recite, and if not, what do we recite?' So I'm very sad”. The Zen master Bach An told him to talk to his father, and for every recitation of the Buddha's teaching, he paid one dong and ten for ten dong. If the father heard that, then he would recite Buddha's name. The first day was not yet mature, he could only recite one or two sentences. In front of his house is a grocery store. One day he thought: " Before, we used to recite the Buddha's name, but today we sit here reciting the Buddha's name, and there are customers who come to ask us questions. That's a lie, but if they let them know each recitation of the Buddha's name, we will be paid by a Zen Master for a penny, they will come to the Zen Master to recite Buddha's name.”. Thinking so, he went to the third floor, closed the door like a retreat, not for the children of his family to bother to quietly recite Buddha's name. From then on he dedicated to reciting Buddha's name. How much money in the temple, Zen Master Bach An used to pay him all, sometimes he had to sell incense burner, vase ... One day he was sitting on the string, suddenly falling down, he also sat still always. He sat like that from morning to evening, not eating or drinking. The next morning, the son presented himself to Zen Master Bach An. When the Zen master came to see him still sitting, his face rosy, relaxed, peaceful, the Zen master said, "Your father has reached the right concentration. " So why reach the right concentration? Anniversary to place no more thoughts, means no-mind, with spot copper-mind that the Sixth Patriarch taught: " Infinite concept as cardboard, made possible formless, infinite universe as the original”.
I would like to affirm to the final stage that Zen and Pure are one. When I went out, trampled on the thorn, had already stuck to my foot, wanted to remove it, what should I do? In the old days, there was no needle, you had to use another thorn to make this thorn out. But when the spit is removed, does anyone foolishly grab the prickling thorn again? No, right? So when the father let go and recite the Buddha's name, he came to the non-conceptual place, which is the tone. Thus the tone between Zen and Tinh meets.
Returning to the above story, after his father let go and did not sit anymore, Zen Master Bach An said, " Now that you have reached the right concentration, I will pay you one hundred thousand gold coins ." Now the old man said, " Even if you pay me the whole world, I don't need it. In the past, I did not understand. I ask you to repent. I have how much money the previous day took from you, I would like to return it all, I do not need anymore. My life today is only on the path of spiritual liberation. ” That is also the spirit of the Zen house " before using sex drive, then using that spit”. It also means that before using the money to pay for the Buddha's recitation, but after reaching the right concentration, then immediately many things in this life are boring, so we go straight to the center of the awareness. completely enlightened. That means you have to be brave enough to let go straight to the Buddha land, no matter how you practice.
In the Sutta Pitaka, the Buddha asserted that one person borrowed a boat to row across the river, but when he reached the other shore, he had to abandon the boat. Does anyone still carry a boat? The same is true of the Buddha's teachings, like the finger pointing to the moon, like a raft across a river, "the dharma has to be abandoned, the situation is illegal, " and our purpose is to penetrate the dharma, to experience it. spiritual path.
In the Samyutta Nikāya recorded: In a large forest, Buddha took a handful of leaves and asked the masses:
- Hey monks, and he watched the leaves in my hand or the leaves in the forest much more?
- Bach Duc The Ton, leaves in the forest more than leaves in the hands of Germany World Religion.
- Likewise, what we say to you is like a leaf in the fist, and what we experience is like a leaf in a forest.
Also, the three suttas, the disciplines given by the Buddhas, the Patriarchs, and Zen masters are like leaves in hand. If you want to penetrate into the sea of dharma of the Buddha that has never been spoken of, you must experience it in your own place, not somewhere else, but want to experience it, you have to let go.
The Zen master Bach An, after infiltrating this place, said a verse:
In the bowl bowl action
There is no sutta
At the same time do not translate
An Nan has never heard.
After Buddha entered Nirvana, Ancestor Nebula still practiced 500 Arahantship in Arahant cave to conduct the three sets of suttas, laws, and treatises, but there was no such sutta. At the same time means that he also has no words that Cù Ma La Cross, how can this be translated? And Ananda has never heard of this sutta. Think about what the sutta is this? It is your sutta. Want to have this business, you have to boldly let go, embarked on this road. Only when you let go completely can you jump into the Pure Land and reach the blissful domain of Buddha Amitabha. I would like to affirm so.
There is a story about a Tibetan lama who could use supernormal power to help a person die on the spot, the consciousness flying to the Pure Land of Buddha Amitabha. After teaching the Dharma, he asked the people who want to go to the Pure Land of Amitabha Buddha, everyone wants it. But when the time comes to ask each of them, the busy person has not taken the house, the daughter has not married, or the person has not taken the bank money ... everyone is busy doing this and that, no one can go. Only a small child could walk, because his parents were dead, the house had just burnt again. So what does this story tell? It is the spirit of letting go, not attachment, not letting go in the way you go home to sell your home, not worrying about doing anything. Letting go in the spirit of the Zen is to refuse all craving and sex but not life. Still doing business, still allowing her to go to school, still practice, still transform, but through any realm, we are all through, not living. It is to reach the "rational reason". The practitioner has seen that place and is naturally very safe. If we firmly believe in our practice, "whoever cares, whoever comes, take the fire to burn more corpses," which means whoever discusses anything, he argues, I do not participate, just practice. For example, if we recite Buddha's name, we will recite Buddha's name, we will meditate, then we'll practice meditation ... don't see people belittle this dharma and we criticize it because we haven't penetrated, but the great teachers have many years of elaborate practice. then practice naturally very sympathetic with each other, between Zen, Tinh, Mat are sympathetic all. Remember when Buddha Amitabha stood next to sentient beings, He raised his right hand or left hand? Right hand, right? The symbol on the left is "against samsara", and on the right is "upon the direction of Nirvana". This logic is very deep. His symbol is that he is ready to save sentient beings, that is, if sentient beings take hold of his hand, they are in agreement with Nirvana, that is, returning to the depths of their consciousness without having No wonder.
Zen Master Vinh Minh, the sixth of the Pure Land teachings, said: “ If the mind is pure, then the mind will be reborn in the pure land, the incense channel will be posted. If the mind is infected, the body is born with impurities, pitfalls, mounds, it is a proportionate result, and one can feel the predestination. So leaving the mind without any other reason ”. If the mind is pure then when closing the eyes immediately turn to appear the pure realms, radio incense tree newspaper. And if the mind is contagious, unclean, then it appears on the pit place. It is called the karmic affinity for dependent origination to form the dhammas, which forms the dhammas which are caused by the mind of sentient beings.
I would like to ask you, in the Amitabha Sutta, to whom does the Buddha say? For Venerable Xa Loi Phat, right? But why the Buddha did not tell him Maudgalyāyana, He Great Ca Lettuce, Mr. Phu Lau Na, Ananda ... but tell him Xa Loi Phat? When you watch sutras, read books, you always have to ask questions to keep your mind bright, not when you hear them. Venerable Xa Loi Phat is the First wisdom, chief marshal of the Dharma, the prime minister in the Buddha's congregation in the old days. Here it is typical that Buddhism is not superstition but the virtue of wisdom. Only the wise can receive and believe in the Pure Land Method, not as many people believe that the Pure Land is for inferior radicals.
We remember in the Amitabha Sutta, who taught the Buddha if he were to return to the ultimate bliss realm, who would listen to the Dharma talk? Listening to water, birds, trees, forests ... all recite Buddha's name, recite the Dharma, and recite the Sangha. To put another question mark: why does Buddha say that when we go to the ultimate bliss realm, we do not say "see" but only "hear"? What does the Buddha mean here? In the Shurangama Sutra, there are 25 saints exposing the disciplines but only the "antithesis" of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara is unique in this Sàsāna realm. The eyes can only look ahead, look around but cannot look behind so there are only 800 merits. And the ear can hear from all sides should be 1200 merit. From there you see, want to set foot in the Pure Land must "reflect the text of nature", listen without running after hours. For example, if someone curses me, if we listen to everything but don't follow the sound, then we will not be upset, that is to hear without relying on that hearing. Why? Buddha is enlightened, Dharma is righteous, Sangha is pure. Only that point allows us to see that each discourse presents only an absolute body that each practitioner must engage in this path on his own. You all understand it, so today we want to show you the absolute reason, because this practice is profound, wonderful, if we do not have great faith and practice practice to transform inner, it is not possible to set foot in the Buddha realm yet.
In the Five Dynastic Society, a monk asked Zen Master Quy Tinh about Zen Master Zhaozhou being asked by a monk: " What is the intention of the Founder from India?", Zhao Chau replied, "The cypress tree in the yard. . "
Zen master Quy Tinh said: I tell him, do you believe?
Monks: The Venerable's words are precious, I dare not believe them.
Quy Tinh said: Do you hear raindrops falling on the porch?
It means that even in that moment of reality, I did not listen to myself, but on the contrary, I asked the idea that O-sensei's teacher came from India, and that his teacher from India came to the past, that is, in the hour. the present moment is about losing yourself, let alone that it is someone else's story, not mine. In the same way in this daily life, if you always put yourself in the moment of reality, you will be guaranteed less trouble. Can we be like that? For example, I was sitting very quietly, suddenly seeing my neighbor go out, I started to recite: " Why, where did it go so early at 5 in the morning? So such disturbing emotions come. And that is the story of the world, not mine. Or one day, I saw an acquaintance, my family did not raise pigs, but bought two or three bundles of morning glory, so I said, " Rice is expensive today, so you eat morning glory except rice ". If people hear it, they will come back to swear at me: " It's all my business, there's nothing wrong with you ". See it? Suddenly sad, disturbing. By whom? Do yourself. Zen master Quy Son said very strongly that "bringing manure into his mind", that is, we bring the world to the market, to harass, rather than lose, it is that we have put the compost into our minds to make it's dirty, it's ugly. So they want to draw themselves back in that moment of reality so they say, "He heard the sound of raindrops doorstep reasonable? " .
At this time, he suddenly became enlightened and cried out, " Chao!"
Zen master Quy Tinh said again: What morality do you see? Say it .
He replied,
Rain drops on the shelf
Clearly drop by drop
Smashed wise
Instant mind that end.
That is, hear each sound clearly but do not follow the sound. Without following the sound means defilement, infection in the mind, delusion, delusion that lasts for many lifetimes right away, so immediately smashing the wisdom, right there the light of enlightenment present money, at this time there is no flame of greed, fire of hatred, ignorance, ignorance ... that has purified your mind.
Tu is that simple, not hard. If you want to give up the marketing, want to give up the mind of jealousy and envy, you have to move to fill the pool, it is too difficult to say. But here the Buddha does not tell you to move, fill the tank, just tell us to stop, watch the thoughts arise and transform immediately. Very simple, very easy. Sometimes Zen masters talk as easily as chili. Easy? If it's too spicy, then drinking cold water is the end, right? This is right in us, not out of place, in our own minds, our transformation does not follow, that is, we have stopped karma.
Please continue to ask, what other nicknames did Amitabha Buddha have? Amitayus, Amitabha, Amitabha. If anyone is able to penetrate into the sea of wisdom of Amitabha Buddha, then he or she has Amitayus, but countless beings have no death, and Amitabha has light all over, but in that moment, miraculous power, which is Immeasurable Merit.
In Tinhvan Zen Meditation, one day a monk came to ask Zen Master Trieu Chau: " Who is the teacher of the ten Buddhas? Zen master replied, "Male model Amitabha Buddha ." Why? Ten ways the Buddhas want to achieve the final Buddhahood, where is enlightenment and knowledge from Buddha? From Amitayus, Amitabha, Amitabha, merit and virtue have just achieved the ten titles of "Tathagata, Application of merit, righteous turn of knowledge, Intelligent conduct, Goodwill, Worldly award, Article abiding the king, Supreme Master," Buddha, World Religion. " The monk was still not enlightened, asked, " So who is the Namo Amitabha Buddha?" The Zen master said, " As my disciple”. Do you understand here? Why is Amitabha Buddha his disciple? Here, I would like to talk a little about this point for you to see. There is a time when you are quiet and calm and naturally arise a thought based on that tranquility, the Buddha Amitabha immediately disappears. Or when we meditate and wish for a privileged place, the realization of enlightenment is right in that moment of reality, translating into motion. By that net it towards the cave, the net content photography with each other. But what is visible between the net and the cave. So when I started reciting: "Today I sat too calmly" , I lost my tranquility. Right at that moment of reality, he did not live, but he asked, " Who is the male model of Amitabha Buddha? ", So he broke always" is my disciple”. Hearing that answer, he was startled, right at that moment of reality, without any thought of an instant thought he was enlightened.
One day Zen Master Phap Loa came to ask Mr. Dieu Ngu (Preliminary Patriarch of Truc Lam): "How about after miles of cloudy clouds stop? "Responding to:" Heavy rain ". It means that in that moment of reality, "when miles of clouds clear" the dharmakaya is bright, clear, a bright, peaceful, peaceful place that he still asks, but he is still active to say. is "pouring rain". Zen master Phap Loa asked again: "What is it like when miles of cloud cover cover?", Which means that while we meditate or recite Buddha's recollection, dark and full of thoughts and thoughts. The team answered, "The moon is bright and bright ," which means that he knows he is being deluded, ignorant, lustful, lustful ..., but who knows this, that is, he asks. . So Zen Master Huyen Giac asserted: "Who is thoughtless, who is not born ? ”Who stood here? That means there is a boss inside. Only if the boss is inside, then you will be bright, so you can say that "the moon is bright and bright"
In Zen Meditation, the story is recorded: there are two great masters who practice the Pure Land method, one is Vien Ngu, the other is Vien Thu, both have penetrated to enter the concentration of samadhi samadhi but still traveling on freight to ask where we have practiced. One day, two people came to see Zen Master Doc Tram Lao Nhan.
The Zen master asked: What do you practice?
These two ladies and gentlemen: Venerable Master, we practice the Pure Land method .
Question: Who is Amitabha Buddha? How old?
Two people just said: Our age .
We see people who are enlightened then everything is clear.
Again asked: So where is this Pure Land?
Yuanyuan held out a fist and said: Here .
At this time, Poison Station Lao Nhan said, " You are truly a pure land cultivator .
So right in that moment between Zen and Tinh meet. They always live in mindful awareness, the boss is always wise.
There was a monk who asked Zen Master Kien Phong: "In the Shurangama Sutra there is a saying 'Where is the old Silver Cross, the most exposed to Nirvana?'. ”. The Zen master raised a fan and said, " Here”. That is just in the eyes of your eyes, but sharp eyes are sharp mind, we see colors do not run, that is bright mind. But we cannot do that, when we look at something, it is already a second thought. For example, when I look at this vase, I start reciting "this vase today is awkward, too ugly, not as beautiful as yesterday", that is, I bring the past thoughts into reality at that moment. then we don't have the first thought. Just released it is differentiated, split immediately. What about when you eat? Have you ever sat on a tray of rice that you just moved and you ate calmly? Or think why today it was too pale, too sour, too bitter, too salty ... all kinds of things. If anyone is addicted to eating chili, any meal without chili is disturbing. Obviously we do not know the tu tu. But if you hear that, If you go home and eat and you don't know anything delicious, right? It is not true. Here they teach, for example, when drinking fresh water, the sweetness of it we know but know it stops immediately, not start noting why the glass of yesterday was so pale but why today is so sweet. So lose yourself. Sweet knows sweet, sour knows sour, but right in that hour, stop reciting, no more. But I did not bear. If it unfortunately happens, if there is sugar, then add, if not, don't start, don't disturb, you will not lose yourself. You find it very easy to do, but it is also very difficult, it is difficult to be our ego, our temperament. but right in that moment, stop reciting, no more. But I did not bear. If it unfortunately happens, if there is sugar, then add, if not, don't start, don't disturb, you will not lose yourself. You find it very easy to do, but it is also very difficult, it is difficult to be our ego, our temperament.
There was an old Zen monk who found the world so chaotic and disturbing, in the end he asked his teacher to go into retreat for twenty years. After enlightening, he went out and said, " Twenty years ago, it was really me, not in the world ." To Dao Tin taught: " The charming landscape is not good, bad or bad from the mind”. Is his predestined condition telling him if he is good or bad? No, but because I think it's good, it's ugly. If you know how to cultivate, I guarantee your life is very peaceful and happy. Today, our lives have had too much instability, tsunamis, floods, terrorism ... if we do not promptly equip ourselves with these wages, the life is inherently miserable. So already knowing this dharma, knowing that there is something more sublime, we need to embark on the Buddha Dharma path to prepare our own salary.
In the Amitayus Sutta, "If there are beings in every realm, whoever sees this light, the three impurities will destroy ." If we are too attached to the sentence and the Buddha's words, we will not understand the words of the Buddha, even if we sit for a hundred years, we will not meet the light of clarity. There is a story of " Tan ho Tieu Ngoc is unscathed, only the essence of the lang lang receive prosperity". This lady met a certain student but her parents forbid her. One night this guy sneaked into the palace. She was on the second floor, seeing but did not dare to show her lover her place, so she called out, " Little Jade, give me the vase."”. She asked Tieu Ngoc, or that guy? Asked Tieu Ngoc but to let the other guy hear that she knew which corner she was standing in the room, west or east. Buddha is like that, " speaking out just for you to get the points I say ." This " clear light" is the knowledge of the Buddha, that is, the re-enlightening of his free and peaceful state of mind. After receiving this light, then the three impurities are greed, hatred and delusion.
"The body and mind need to rejoice and be happy, then a good heart will be born ". This means that when you receive the body, it immediately gives out the use. If we do not understand that, then we just sit and wait for the light, but the more we wait, the more sick we will be.
“ For example, if they are in the Three Map, it is very miserable, but seeing this light is all rested, no more suffering, after they passed away they were freed.”. Buddha pointed out the very sublime reason but we don't understand it. Why so? If you are always living in the Buddha's knowledge daily, hourly, monthly, and yearly, I am sure you have just passed away. Here I would like to tell the truth, when your parents and relatives die, you bring your name to ask us to pray for your parents and relatives to be freed, then it is only a year of defeat. Why? Because the Buddha asserted, you should cultivate when you live, not when you die. In the Sutta Pitaka, if a person dies, the living person makes merit for the dead, then in 10 parts, the dead person gets only 3, and the living person enjoys 7. During the offering, there must be a predestined victory, is a pure worshiper but the recipient is also pure, so his parents are super. If the person receives a pure life and the worshiper is not pure then the blessing is only half. The predestination to support the concept is also available, but I would like to affirm that, as long as you are still alive, still strong, and have the power, you should try to cultivate, recite the Buddha's name, meditate, recite sutras, repent. good deeds.
In the Samyutta Nikāya, one day one Brahmin Brahmin asked the Buddha:
- Gotama, if his disciple died, he chanted prayers, will his disciple be free?
World Religion did not answer, just asked: If your disciple dies, you go to recite sutras, will your disciple be born in the Brahma heaven or not?
Vi Phạm Chí said: Okay .
Buddha asked: If there is a person who took a heavy stone and put it into the well, ten Brahmin teachers came to chant for ten days, then turned and said like this: “O God, you must float. My rock, let's float ", so does that rock rise?
The brahmin said : Even if chanting for a hundred days, that heavy stone could not surface.
Buddha said : Likewise, a person who creates sins of the five contradictions (killing his father, killing his mother, killing Arhat, destroying the harmony, increasing the body of the Buddha to blood), creating ten evil karma that is too heavy and cannot go up .
Buddha said: If one person brought a liter of cooking oil into the well and invited ten Brahmin teachers to chant for ten days, then he said and said like this: Oil, please sink. ”So did the oil sink?
Brahmin said: Of course not sink, because the oil is too light .
Buddha said: Likewise, a person who does ten good deeds, practices the path of Dharma, even though he hates that person, says, "You must go to hell." You must go to hell, ”he still won't go to hell .
So all the paths the Buddha went through, returned to you all, should be called the Master. Tao is the way, Teacher is the teacher. The Buddha is the teacher who shows the way, whether or not it is up to you. So the Buddha asserted, "Please light the torch on your own, light the torch with the Dharma." The Buddha left but left three canonical sutras, so that we would follow the Buddha's teachings, the teachings of the Buddha, practice to transform
" Gentlemen, watch the bright and beautiful light illuminate the great heavenly world, the hundred and hundreds of memories of the earth, the ocean, the monk, the sun, the moon, the four continents of the world, to the buddha realm." The ceiling is in the light emitted at the same time . "
" Gentlemen, do you see, if you can see, you are in the light of yourselves, and you cannot see, do not say good light, there is no illumination. Be greedy”. It means that I did not recognize that auspicious light, but every day, night, and hour it was still shining. If it were not for the light, the eyes could not see, the mouth could not speak, nor could it be held. For example, a mannequin or a puppet dances thanks to its conductor. The dead cannot eat and laugh. That is, while we are alive, there is a boss inside that controls our eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body and mind. That owner is Amitayus, Amitabha, Amitabha, from that light, which manifests and manifests the dhammas. Dharma is very wonderful. If no one receives that light, it will still shine daily, hourly, monthly, and yearly.
Mr. Pho Dai Sy taught:
Night at night hug Buddha to sleep
Day and day with Buddha
Sitting standing together
As shown with the ball
Saying that hang together
Each of them live together
Want to know where Buddha is going
Point to that talk.
Zen master Quy Chon went to see Mr. Quy Son one day. Zen master Quy Son asked:
- What's your name?
- My name is Quy Chon.
- Where is Quy Chon?
Unable to answer, Mr. Quy Chon immediately went down the mountain, on the way, he met Ngoi Son who was raising buffalo.
- Why doesn't the monk go to the mountain?
- I went to the mountain to see the Venerable, I could not answer.
- Teacher, please go up, if the Venerable asks where Quy Chon is, he points to his eyes, his ears, his nose, his tongue, his head, and immediately stays.
The monk Quy Chon climbed up the mountain to repeat the words of Zen Master Ngo Son, only he was scolded by Zen master Quy Son:
- Liar! If anyone can say this sentence is good knowledge over 500 people. You do not hide me. Whoever said, try it out.
- Yes, a buffalo herder in the mountains.
What is Quy Chon? Feet are true feet Quy is the real place to return. But where the true foot is, in the eyes, in the ears ... Seeing without running according to color is the foot, the ear without running is the foot, the tongue tasting without following the taste is the foot. Knowing everything but not dwelling is your true place. Very simple.
III. PRAYER AND Karma
Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, these Founding Fathers came by the path of vow, which is the power of vow. In that vow, there is great vow, compassion, and vow. And we go the way of the karma, the power of karma. The power of karma is divided into four parts: One is karmic-dependent kamma, two are A-karmic intercession, three is Truth-like, interdependent, and four is Dharmakaya dependent.
For example, we create a kusala kamma in our five aggregates called right action, which creates what we come to, called y karmic. When you live, you do good deeds and practice the path of dharma, and when you just die, you meet the Buddha and they come to pick you up, that is because of the karmic affinity arising from your devotion.
In Zen Meditation, there are two Lama meditation groups practicing together, very calm and close. But when the mistress came to buy a house at the foot of the mountain, it was a little disturbed. Because the brother-in-law was very beautiful, more than the elder brother, the benefactors met the younger brother when he met and liked him very much, but he did not offer anything to him. Because he received many offerings, ate more, his spiritual practice was reduced. The elder brother saw that the practice was not good, so he moved the mountain to another place to practice. After a period of practice, the elder brother attained a natural eye, so he looked back to see how his younger brother had been practicing lately, knowing that his brother was about to die, the consciousness came out ready to go into the donkey. In the Sutta describes the consciousness that has just come out according to karma, if extremely good, then being reborn in heaven, but extremely evil, then going to hell, but halfway through the intermediate state body. This intermediate state body walled through the mountain wall, but there were two impenetrable ones, one was Buddha's cajuput court and the other was the fetus. The elder brother used all his strength to block but could not block, eventually his consciousness entered the cheated fetus, due to bad karma every day enjoyed without cultivating.
So it is blessed if you make offerings but cultivators are indebted. The renunciant is like a stone and you are like a knife, the more sharpened the knife the more sharp the stone is. But saying that is not a fear of not cultivating, because if it is not for the receiving of sentient beings it is difficult to progress, like a person walking in the desert, hungry and thirsty at the same time, thinking that he might die in the desert but seeing a child does the tiger behind it run? Buddha said the reception of credits, the first is to marry sentient beings, the second is to receive the tried to cultivate, the more afraid the more religious. If you go to hell, you will end up in the hell realms and continue to cultivate because you still have the Buddha seed.
The elder brother who loves his brother should think about waiting for the time when the donkey is born, I would like to take it home to bring him to recite daily prayers for him. But after the young donkey was born about 1-2 months old, the elder brother asked him to come and pulled him with a lanyard, so he refrained his legs and refused to go. The reason is because she owed the benefactor, she had to stay and pay. Knowing it was karma, so the elder brother went home. Ever since this donkey, everyone has admitted that no donkey has worked so well in the past, all day and all night. At one point he fell to death, when the elder brother came down to tell the story, the mistress calculated the amount of donkey that was exactly equal to the amount she had offered. That's because a practitioner should pay off a lifetime. If we do not make any vow, we will certainly go bad, so we have to make a great vow.
The second story: In the Bach Duyen Kinh experience, when the Buddha was born, there was a strange point that there was a great light. At the same time the Buddha was born, a prince was born. The king thought that this light was born by his son, so he named his son Manh Quang, Manh is his strength, Quang is his light. After Prince Manh Quang became a king, he specialized in hunting. In the city there was a very good archer hunter, one day killing countless beings. He married a wife in this world without a daughter as beautiful. Because of his beautiful wife, afraid of being peeked out by the rich, he sold the house in the city and went deep into the forest, building the house right under an old tree to stay. Every time he went hunting, he forced his wife to climb an old tree. One day King Manh Quang went hunting lost in the forest, to that old tree. He looked up to see a beautiful beautiful woman that in the palace did not have, immediately caught down. Seeing this beautiful woman, the king immediately commemorated sex and lived with him. At that moment, the hunter returned to see the angry, bowed bow to kill two people. While shooting the bow, he suddenly aroused good thoughts: "If we kill this king, the country will be in chaos because there is no king. At that time, people will die so much . ” He had just started reciting like that when a lion rushed to grab him to eat meat. After being killed by the lion and bitten, thanks to reciting good thoughts emanating right before his death, he falls into the heaven of the four heavenly kings, making him a god. You see thirty years of killing but only need a good concept when near death, the karma of feeling kicked to run into heaven. We go with the power of karma, so if we make conduct, make vows, have compassion, then the Pure Land or the Pure Land is in your hands.
In the Amitayus Sutta, the Buddha taught that if we want to return to the realms of the ten Buddhas or to return to the Western realm, we must have the Chief of the Pure Land. What is the Chief of the Pure Land? The first is that we have to be filial to our parents, to respect the Chief Master, to have compassion and not to kill sentient beings, to cultivate ten good karma. Those are the prerequisites we must have. The second is to take refuge in the Three Jewels, preserving full of the precepts, not committing majesty. The third is to generate bodhicitta, believe deeply in cause and effect, recite Mahayana scriptures and books, and help others to practice spiritually. That's what we have to do, not talk about. For example, if you have a phone, you want to contact someone, you have to dial the right number to call, If I need to meet someone but I dial another person's number, can I meet him? In everyday life like that, let alone the realm of the ten Buddhas. The realm of Buddha is pure, so our mind must be similar. Here, there are some things to note. The first is that we have to generate bodhicitta, which is your vow. In Burma, Buddhists do not practice the Mahayana path, the Bodhisattva path, but look closely, they are the Mahayana seeds, because they have faith in the Dharma, such as practicing the four foundations of mindfulness. then all the country practice the four foundations of mindfulness. In their life, despite their adversity, their spiritual practice is still very high, like Tet, there are about 10 days, all the families and children will go to the temple and to the monasteries. If you want to develop eternal faith in your practice, you must generate bodhicitta. Why are you here today listening to the dharma? Often we think we come here to meditate, listen to Dharma, recite sutras, repent, recite Buddha's name but it is not a coincidence. The reason why you come here to practice the Buddha's holy path today is because in countless lifetimes you have made vow, so this day, this month, this year, the seed of vow pushes you to come here and listen to the Dharma and practice. In the Lankavatara Sutta, Buddha taught clearly about the three nature: Dharmata, racial nature and non-indirect nature. That is to see the law is impermanent is fragile, is temporary. Today we have enough conditions to sit here listening to the Dharma, reciting Buddha's name, meditating because in our past life, we sowed this seed. Unmissive nature racial identity is non-continuous nature thanks to his practice. If you want to be like that, you have to make a vow from now on. If you have a vow in this life, the Buddha says it is like a soldier going to battle wearing armor without fear of the bow and arrow of affliction and death.
IV. GENERATING THE BODY
Embracing the Bodhi mind here is your vow. If you are a Buddhist, surely everyone in your family will worship Buddha, and you will boldly burn incense to worship the Buddha altar: " From here until the end of your life forever after, countless lifetimes of your life attaining the supreme supreme level of awareness, first being a benefit to the child, then taking the peaceful life of beings ”then ensure you enter the Dharma stream. That vow does not cost money. Suppose the vow of energy that you have to move a mountain or fill the sea to make vows is very difficult, but over here, the vow of power comes from your own place, that makes it simple, nor It costs nothing. Do you dare to be bold or not?
In Entering the Bodhi Commentary praises the benefits, the merits of generating bodhicitta: " To be born as a human body with a full body without disabilities is very difficult ." Suppose there is a person who is generating bodhicitta, making a great commitment but is either blind, or deaf, or dumb, or lisp, it is very difficult to give energy, but over here, you have enough eyes, ears, nose , tongue, body, mind, we are still wise, every word we say you hear clearly, knowing all six of your bases are full. Today, we have the six bases fully, not simply, but in the past life, we have practiced so we can be like that.
" We are fortunate to be human bodies, so let this body to think and do useful things, first for yourself in this life and the next ."
Generating bodhicitta, making great vows, it is helpful for yourself, but you don't have to say it out loud but you have to boldly do it. For example, if you see a friend who is safe, luckier and happier than you, then you must be happy, have to be happy, it is useful work. Seeing that others are happy, at peace, more fortunate than us, and we start a mind of jealousy, selfishness, something uneasy and unbearable, that's where you have to use the Dharma to transform.
So Zen Master Khue Phong said:
Work means
As the mind awakens,
Work nonsense
The mind is hysterical.
Fluttering in memory,
Lam chung was dragged away.
Waking up does not follow love
Lam chung moved career.
Working means that we are happy to follow others that we can clearly see our thoughts. Sometimes I assimilate greed, hatred, defilement, jealousy, mine, greed, I greed, anger ... but looking back, what I can see is greed, hatred, and jealousy. Those that are seen but we often live with it, and the nature that we see do not realize.
So in the Samyutta Sutta, the Buddha said, " Hey monks, is there any dharma door, greedy mind knows greedy mind, greedy mind knows greedy mind, ignorant mind knows ignorance?" ”. The monks said, " Bach Duc The Ton, due to wisdom, he knows ." The sutta is very long but there is only one word, the word KNOW . Knowing greed, then naturally all greed, it has the power projection into mindfulness, then recite. So first we think about doing useful things for ourselves, for the people to benefit from this life and the next.
" Sometimes, only for a brief moment, we think of goodness ." To be honest, we always think of evil thoughts more than good thoughts every day. This I have to boldly listen, look straight to move. In the Sūtra, Venerable Ananda is certified to be Thien label. One day, he looked down into hell to see that many women fell down and came to ask the Buddha. He asked, " Blessed One, I see in the conference of the Blessed One so much, have faith, why do I see them falling into hell so much?" ”. The Buddha answered, "In one day, they never change their thoughts but always follow them. In the morning they desire everything for themselves, at noon they see who is happier than they are born with jealousy, in the afternoon they crave for craving. Because of these causes that create karma, fell into hell. So when we know that, if a thought arises then we can transform. The Buddha taught that the reason we start these good things is not natural, but because the power of the Buddhas is like walking in the dark night, it flashes a little light. So the experience is that we initiate any good deeds such as giving, offerings, we must do immediately, if not only after a while is rotten mind, do not do anymore. Only the momentary moments that suddenly arise, the good deeds that we do not do then lose because during one day, we all arise bad thoughts.
“ Therefore, the force of good deeds is weak and the force of evil deeds is often and terribly large. If not by the mind of bodhichitta, then no good thing can be overcome . " This means that if the bodhicitta is not full, the vow is not great, then make sure you do evil immediately. You notice, the poor do not say anything, but getting rich means we have a different mind. If there is no bodhicitta, no aspiration to the Buddha, then surely we will do evil.
"The Monk Ni King has gone through countless lifetimes thinking clearly this benefit, so that peacefulness, peaceful growth, overflowing countless waterfalls of the world". There are ten directions of the Buddhas clearly seeing the benefits of generating this bodhicitta, so they encourage sentient beings, practitioners to generate bodhicitta, making great vows.
" Those who want to overcome the hundreds of thousands of miseries of the three realms, eradicate all misfortune for sentient beings, want to enjoy countless hundred thousand bliss, always do not leave bodhichitta. Misery is bound in the prison of the three realms, but it takes only one minute of mind to be called the son of the Good Men, respected by the whole world, including mankind and the Demon King.”. We are caught in the prison of greed, hatred and delusion, but we only need to release a great vow to be called the son of Buddha. Any disease I have to use force to overcome. Do you dare to send forth a great vow tonight? Tu but also hesitated, hesitant, then the whole life is not finished. So, we have to make vow, for example, if you meditate for 15 minutes and you want to let go, then you make vows even if your broken leg is sitting, make sure we sit for an hour. Only by generating bodhicitta can we attain the dharma that Buddha left behind.
"Just as the copper solution was transformed into a solid tool, so did the Bodhi mind, after receiving this impure image, it shaped it into the treasured, priceless image of the victor." Right at the moment of making the vow, then this impure, impure body of yours becomes treasured, called the highest loss.
" Why does bodhicitta be praised for such vain merits? Suppose that in this world a person has decided that the goal needs to be achieved, the mind does not leave that goal, we know for sure that he can overcome things that are difficult to overcome, overcome defects. This is not a rare thing in life. So when there is a sentient being who has attached his or her mind to the purpose of saving the great bodhicitta, that being can overcome countless obstacles and conquer the immoral dharmas that are extremely intense . ”
We practice going against the flow of life, and upstream, there is certainly a time when we have the opposite conditions, if we do not generate great bodhicitta, make great force, then we may return to vilify Dharma. . It is not a simple thing for monks and nuns because the religious life always faces adversity and misery, those who do not develop energy and bodhicitta do not take off their clothes completely. profanity, libel again Tam Bao. Even the laity, who is cultivating so well and seeing Master doing something, is discontented, does not go to the temple, does not go to the monastery anymore, it is due to predestination and does not know how to overcome. We must see that the opposite of predestined is the basis for those with ultimate mind. Sometimes thanks to predestined conditions we grow up.
“ This is just a wish, the important thing now is how to generate that mind. Beings that are weak, weak mind, a little good that only meet a little small obstacles immediately let go. So how to generate the mind of Bodhi? ”
We have to see that hell doesn't listen to the dharma, animals being too miserable listen to the dharma, and the hungry ghosts can't listen to the dharma. Heaven is too happy to listen to the dharma, and the A-la is also unable to practice the dharma. Only we humans are half miserable, half happy, when we witness scenes of natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, terrorism, hunger, encounter suffering, unfortunate things, etc., we will awaken and develop. mind. So today, you have to be bold, generate the mind of bodhicitta, believe deeply in cause and effect, recite the Mahayana scriptures, and tons of books that help others to practice, that is the Chief of the Pure Land. The Buddha clearly taught beings due to karma but thanks to knowing the Buddha Dharma, we will go through the vow of prayer, we will surely achieve them. Don't be afraid because we have the dharma, we have the will,
V. THE SITUATION, NOW HERE AND NOW
(CALCULATION IN THE HANDS)
Whether we stay at home or go to the temple to learn how to recite the Buddha's name to the Pure Land of Amitabha Buddha, that's the part. Today we come across the part of logic, often in Buddhism, there is often reason and reason. If we understand the logic, we can't abandon the reason, and if we understand the reason, we can quit the reason. So the spirit in the Buddha is often called the reason to be content.
While sitting, you recite Buddha's name, so in that moment of reality, you recite Buddha's name or the Buddhas' and your Bodhisattvas recite your Buddha's name for yourself ? ” We recite, in other words, we cultivate and experience ourselves. Thus, regardless of the method of practice, Pure Land, Zen Buddhism or Tantra, each practitioner must put effort into his practice to get the results. The spirit of studying according to the Buddha is not waiting for loss.
Luc To taught: "The Pure Land is not far from here, if you talk about generals, the number of miles is ten to eight thousand miles. That is in the body with ten evil eight evil. If you don't feel good hug, reciting Buddha's rebirth is difficult to come. Now advise good knowledge first should eliminate the evil cross, then should eliminate eight evil, went through eight thousand, each concept of seeing the normal nature of equanimity, to as if in a nail, immediately saw Buddha Amitabha . "
I thought that the Pure Land was somewhere far away but Luc To taught the Pure Land not far from here. Ten evil you know already, the body is three are killing, stealing, adultery; password has four words embroider, speak cruelly, speak two tongues, talk market; Italy has three are greed, hatred and delusion. The eight wrong views are wrong views, wrong thoughts, wrong speech, wrong livelihood, wrong actions, wrong thoughts, wrong thoughts, wrong thoughts.
"If embracing a good heart, reciting Buddha's rebirth, it is hard to come", that is, his mouth is reciting, but three poisonous greed, hatred and delusion are not spared, He says it is very difficult to be reborn in that realm. For example, you like to travel in America, Europe, to beautiful places, but if you don't have money, how can you go? Or without a passport, you cannot go. Those countries could not even come to the Buddha realm, so if this dharma practice were held unwholesome, it would be difficult to come. Including the renunciation, chanting Buddhist scriptures that are full of greed, see others being happy, safe to dislike, seeing others loved by Buddhists, unable to bear, holding unwholesome harm to others even though he practiced for decades, when he died, he would go to hell, not to mention rebirth in the Western Province.
In the Sutras, the Buddha taught very clearly, mostly telling people to practice, to light the torch on your own, light the torch with the Dharma, make your own island, all advice you cultivate when you are still strong, your mind is clear, lucid, and waiting until you die to pray for uncertainty. A person living at evil, like a heavy stone sinking down to live, asked super to let the stone float? Never, because not in accordance with the Buddha's teachings. Granted, there must be karmic support, but the main factor is when you are alive, you know how to cultivate good dhammas, try to practice the transformation of akusala thoughts. Knowing that, then you are alright, all dharma are Buddha's, every dharma has to clean your mind.
"Now advising good knowledge first should eliminate the evil, then should eliminate the eight evil, went through eight thousand, each concept of seeing permanent nature, upright, as if in a fingernail immediately saw Buddha Amitabha": We clear away, the Pure Land is right in front of us, otherwise our body is full of ten evil, eight evil, very difficult to come to that realm. Why is it called evil? Evil means different from right view. In the first Noble Eightfold Path is right understanding, right thought, right speech, right speech, right action, right effort, right livelihood, mindfulness and right concentration. The spirit of the Buddha teaches us in every daily action, when drinking water, when going on business, when sweeping the yard, sweeping the house ... must be mindful. What is mindfulness? For example, if we close the door, close it gently, drink the water gently, walk, stand, lie, and sit gently, whatever we call mindfulness. However, there are people who say, a thief also has mindfulness because before he wants to go into a house to steal people, he has to go softly, open the closet, too, but if he goes fast or loudly opens the door, he will be owner. detector house. So do you understand the difference between a thief and an elaborate practitioner? Right in that moment, although it went lightly, it opened the door slightly but that was evil thought. It also tries to stay up all night, staying up late to steal, which is evil effort. Then it also thought that this house must be stolen, how many hours it was going to steal, called the evil mind. But having that look is called wrong views, while it's a practice of stealing called wrong career.
If we are skillful in cultivating our mind and changing our mind, every thought, every thought often sees nature, that is, we see Buddha Amitabha Lu To taught " each concept, each concept often sees nature " is how to see? Here Lu Luc only points to the ultimate glass-fruition, and how do we cultivators? I would like to tell the story, in Tibet there was a very hard-working lama, the solemn morality should be invited by a benefactor to come along with the other monks. Before the meal, she benefactors invited him walking visit the warehouse to warehouse tea, he saw a bag of tea very fragrant, he reached the loading and holding tea, just then he shouted immediately: " Theft, eating thief ". The lady benefactor turned to ask: " Where is the thief? ”. He pointed to his hand and said, " This is a thief”. That is to see each of your greed, but to see each of your greed is still greed? Out of greed. But all the greed, Amitabha Buddha is present at this moment of reality. If we practice like that, then we are very advanced. Until the meal, he sat down the table, holding her benefactors poured into each glass bottle from the top end of the table in question, he start of " make turn the bottle all ". When the mistress came to him to pour milk, he did not drink anymore. She asked why he said, " I have already drunk your glass of milk. " She asked, "When did you drink ?" He said, "Just a moment ago, I poured milk for each of you. I started to recite this bottle to me, so it must be all, so my greed drank her glass of milk. already”. Thus we see them shepherding and transforming every idea. If you have cultivated the whole day like that, then your progress will be very fast, and if you take things and come home to repent, it is too late. So you see the Pure Land or Meditation, every discipline is not out of the Path to Tue. Thanks to stop without greed is to keep the precepts, what is visible is that wisdom, and stopped not creating artifacts anymore.
So, the Dhamma Teacher taught, "To recite Buddha's name is to practice mindfulness, to understand meaning to be righteousness and not to understand to mean evil. Mindfulness is reborn, wrong mindfulness is how to get there. Buddha is enlightened, is aware that the body and mind do not allow evil to arise. Mindfulness means remembering, remembering to keep the virtue without lying. Diligent diligence, which is called mindfulness. Should be aware of mind at heart, do not recite in words, use fish to catch fish, forget the fish, use prayers, and forget the words ”.
Buddha is enlightened, remembering his Buddha awareness, being aware of the body and mind not allowing evil to arise: that is, when we recite good thoughts or good thoughts or evil thoughts arise, we are all put in y Vo y Nirvana. And while reciting, the evil things arise that we predestined to follow is not the true mindfulness of Buddha. Because mindfulness means remembering. The first is to keep the moral precept not deceitful, also to walk on the Path. For example, this morning I stole robbery, adultery, lying, drinking alcohol, then reciting Buddha's name, would you be quiet, single-minded or disturbing because you remember stories in the morning?
Mindfulness is in the mind, transforming in mind, not in words, because mind is the root of all things. If we recite the mind all the time and have never had a transformation in the mind, it is not the true Buddha's recitation. So people study with Buddha a lot but understand the words of Buddha, practicing to experience is very little. The Buddha also taught, " The person who studies our dharma is like the hair of a cow, and the one who understands and practices our dharma is like the horn of a cow.". Do you see a lot of cow hair or a lot of horn? The coat is much but the horn has two. There are some people who have special abilities, who can see the invisible realm, but if they cannot see their own mind, it will be a waste of life, because even if we see the three great heavenly things in the world, we will see the outside. that is the general of birth and death. Who can we deceive, not deceive ourselves, find our minds still greedy, jealous, selfish, and transforming.
When the Buddha was alive, A long time ago, he saw a thousand small celestial beings in the world and came to Xa Loi Loi. Sir Xa Loi Phat said, " Even though you see two or three thousand small natural world, you are just tree bark, not tree core." The core of the tree is how to transform greed and anger, back to the path of wisdom. Also see how many small natural world is also just outside the general birth and death. As long as you see your mind, come see me”. Mr. A long time after going to the forest, he became determined to cultivate, as a result of the three months after the Arahantship. For example, every month, when you come here to become a priest, if you hear that Chau Doc has people walking on water, flying in the sky, do you still sit here or run there right away? The Buddha taught us to cultivate right in the heart, even if you attain it, you will not say that the people who say that you have Arahant know that it is not. A true Buddhist is to find the right place to clean his mind.
Another example, now that there is a glass, put the ring in it and close the lid. In the temple, there were two monks ordained in the same month, elaborately the two diligently worked equally. You go to the first teacher first and ask, "What is in this glass? ”. The teacher replied, " There is a ring ." You took this glass again to meet the second teacher and asked, "What's in this glass? The second teacher said, " Don't know”. So which of these two teachers do you prefer? The first teacher, isn't it? Because he has magical power to see the ring. But for the spirit of the Buddha, the meditator, the spirit of Bat Nha, even if he saw far away in the market or saw the ring in the glass, the devil would also see, the pagan also saw, but whether he saw far or near. The mind is also absorbed in the dharma, and when our eyes meet with the color they desire, when there is desire to arise, the Buddha's name is also called a human eye. not immersed, not running, knowing each concept to transform, the Buddha said it was Bat Nha eyes, Buddha eyes, eyes immaculate. I need to cultivate that point. If you cultivate like that, then forever in a life, a seed of Buddha will not go away, and you will have a desire for magical power, a desire for transformation, seeing this and that, that is called falling into the evil path,Pham owns the general, the visionary , ”what is visible is the general, but the general is the delusion.
To Dat Ma continued: " Should know the concept is in the mind. Have called the concept of Buddhist titles, they must understand the Buddhist concept. If the mind is not true, the mouth is just reciting the hollow title, the three poisons still come from within, the cause falls full of memory, according to the mind of ignorance, the Buddha cannot be seen, it is just waste, chanting and reciting separate meanings. , the word is reciting but the mind means reciting. Mindfulness from the heart that arises, called the door to enlightenment ”.
Mindfulness from the mind that arises? This is on reason a little deeper. For example, we sit here, have not started, but the Buddha's recitation is always available, not initiated, not waiting, the concept is late. For example, if you think something, we recite Namo Amitabha Buddha, then it's a step too late. And over here, the thought that has not started yet is always there, it is mindfulness from the mind. That recitation from the mind is called the door to enlightenment, no different from koan.
“ Chanting is in the mouth, that is, the sound of the general, clinging to the general and reasoning for nothing. So know that the saints in the past practice are not speaking outside, but only in the mind. The mind is the source of all goodness. The mind is the master of all things. Nirvana is often fun because of the ceasing of the mind, being, the three realms of rebirth according to the mind. The mind is the gateway of all, the mind is the shore of liberation. Knowing where the gateway is still difficult to accomplish, knowing where there is no fear of not coming . ”
Guru Dat Ma taught in the end, finally turning towards the mind, because why? Nirvana is often happy because of the mind's rest. The mind no longer wavered any more, Nirvana was present. The mind of resting is equivalent to the Pure Land of Buddha Amitabha, the three realms of samsara according to the mind that arises, the three realms of sex, rupa, and rupa which arise from greed, hatred and delusion. All from the Buddhas, the Patriarchs, the Zen masters, the wise and helpful beings are all pointing towards the mind, transforming their own mind, the happiness is always there. If you try a meal you don't expect, are safe, free, then that day you feel safe, elegant and light like you are liberated. And any day my mind wanders, remembering this and remembering it, I feel tired, something irritable, uncomfortable, because the body is affected by the mind. If the mind is safe, then everything will be fine.
In Zen Meditation, it is said: An old lady came to the conference of Zen Master Bach An to listen to the dharma. The Zen master said: " Pure mind, the pure land. Buddha in every being, once the Buddha appears, everything in the world shines light. If anyone wants to receive this, they must reflect autism to one-pointed disorder. Because the mind is pure Buddha purity. So how to solemn Pure Land? Because Buddha is inherent in every being, what is the good appearance and beauty of the Buddha ? "
In order to be in the Pure Land, we have to clean the mind, because the mind is pure Buddha. To realize Amitabha Buddha in our own mind, we must always reflect on autism, which is to look back at ourselves to clear our mind.
When the old woman heard, she thought, " That's not too hard ." Returning, she contemplated around the clock, chasing forever in the mind whether sleeping or awake.
You note, whether practicing Zen or Pure Land, in order to recognize the Buddha in his own mind, he has to take elaborate actions, contemplating day and night like that old lady. We also cultivate but when reciting Buddha's name, meditating, the mind is peaceful, while not reciting the Buddha's name, discharging meditation, running after the concept. We cultivate a lot of attachment, so we have to slowly cultivate, but don't think that this practice takes too long, to jump to another method. I have to be sure that the way I go is sure to come. I saw someone who was reciting the Buddha very passionately, there were Tibetan lamas coming and going again to follow mantras, then after the lamas came back, they saw Burmese monks coming and going again and reciting from the four foundations of mindfulness. When will we go like that? In Burma, there was also a woman who came to see an elder who asked why she had been a monk all the time. The elder asked, " Do you believe me now."? "-" Do you believe it . " - " Then I remember three words. It is 'Ignoring it '. Upon returning home, her husband said that the land used to sell in the past could not be bought. She thought to ignore it. The daughter reported that she had passed university, she also ignored it. Whatever happened, she was also attentive to the reflection, until one day when she was frying the fish, her husband reminded the fish that it was on fire, she said ignoring it, right away she immediately became enlightened. Do you dare to do that? If we still have many attachments, it is very difficult for us to get enlightened.
Back to the old lady at the Zen Buddhist monk Bach An. Then one day, when she was washing the pot, she suddenly became enlightened, threw the pot aside, and she went to the Zen Master and said, " I suddenly saw the Buddha in my body, everything shining with light, it was wonderful. It was amazing . "
The Zen master said: What do you say is bright, but what about your dungeon?
The old woman raised her fist and punched him in the face, saying, This old man is not enlightened .
The Zen master Bach An laughed aloud, affirming her.
It means that once your mind is bright, you can see everything is bright, dung dung, toilets, small houses are also bright. If a person really let go of all conditions and lives a free life, staying home is also free, going to the temple is also free, not going to the temple is happy and free, but going home is unhappy. Thus there is still birth and death, there are artifacts. And from your inner peace, happiness, happiness, wherever you go, you will be safe, happy, and everywhere, there will be Amitabha Buddha. It is called from the mind that shows the dhamma. That is about the Pure Land.
In Zen Meditation, there was a monk who asked Zen Master Ran-ji about the difference in the use of Zen. Monk replied:
Meditation and recitation
Like two big mountain buildings
Align the difference
Buddha nature is common.
Guys get to the top
See the moon shining everywhere
Loving people lacking faith
Blur between rapids.
For example, if you want to go to Chau Doc Mountain now, there are many roads. Whoever likes to go whichever way, go that route, eventually meeting up to the summit. People predestined to meditate also return to Buddhahood; those who are predestined to cultivate also return to the Buddha in their own minds, projecting the dharma phenomena naturally corresponds to the mind. Those who have good eyesight will laugh, but we have not yet seen the eyesight, we do not have to worry about cultivating or worrying about transforming and sitting around discussing our own good, or that the other person is not good enough to go anywhere. We have to sit still to contemplate and recognize our mind to transform, that is, we have faith in the dharma. And the one who lacks faith is like one who fades in the middle of a rapids.
So there was a Brahmin Brahmin one day coming to the Buddha and asked: " Blessed One, what is Brahman's struggle with Brahmin?" ”. Buddha answered: " By accepting the ego ." He continued to ask, " White World Religion, what is killing and fighting? ”. Buddha answered: " By accepting the ego ." He went on to ask, " What is the Sa Mon struggle with the Sa Mon? ”. The Buddha answered, " By accepting the Dharma”. The reason people fight with each other is because of the ego, while the renunciants fight with each other because of the law. It's like the story of a king sending a courtier to find 4 blind people from small to large, bringing an elephant and asking how the elephant was. The first person touched the leg, said the elephant was like a pillar, the second person touched the tail, said the elephant was like a broom, the third person touched the ear, said the elephant was like a fan. The blind men quarreled, arguing that they were right and the wrong person should quarrel and eventually fight. The king standing above laughed, because he could see it clearly with his eyesight. These four people are right, but only in one respect. The king represents those who have good eyesight.
To Dat Ma continued: " In the mind, there are three poisons, the dirty state. There is no poison in the mind, the pure nationality ”. Every day, you less greed, less yard, less si as long as the death is freed about that, the Buddha brought to the corresponding realms. And the mind is full of contaminants, hard-working, the Buddha said it is very difficult to come, so whether any dharma practice must try to transform the concept of greed, hatred and delusion.
" When there is no delusion, one mind is a Buddha realm, when there is delusion, one mind is a hell ." If you sit up to the one-pointed mind without disturbing any thoughts, that is Buddha. And arouse a delusion, it is hell. Think about how many times we spend in hell every day? And the absence of delusion, it is a Buddha realm. Every day if we extend the time of enlightenment, a time it is deep, then the events, the misfortune of the afflictions in life, thanks to the capacity of unimaginative will beat the evil. So, no one can save himself but himself.
" Sentient beings create delusion due to the mind being born so often in hell. Bodhisattva contemplation thought not due to mind being born should often stay in the Buddha realm. If the mind arises, then the mind is empty, reciting the concept of silence, from a Buddha realm to a Buddha realm. If the mind arises, the mind will not remain silent, recite thoughts about the cave, from one hell run through another hell ”.
For example, we arise and run after the concept or who scolded us, our concept arises, we see that we do not stop, rushing to swear at people, that is, from this mind, another mind will arise. I thought I was in the realm of people but I was in hell all day long. The expectation that arises continually that I follow is from hell to hell, it is continuous that I cannot transform, it is very scary. For example, we have the concept of jealousy, selfishness, greed, and harm, and then we just go to hell because it corresponds to our mind. As for Bodhisattva contemplating, knowing that delusion is not real nature, always living in the light of Bat Nha, the delusion will naturally disappear. Right now in the Buddha realm, it's that simple.
“If one mindfulness arises, there are two thoughts of good and evil, heaven and hell. If a mindfulness does not arise, there are no two thoughts of good and evil, nor of heaven and hell. Therefore, it is not true, is not it, in the flesh, there is no saint, ie saints do not have that mind, so the mind is empty along with heaven and earth. ”
One day, if you always look at your mind to transform, then cultivating very well, not just waiting for meditation to practice. Sweeping our house also tu, cooking rice we also tu, washing dishes, sitting in the car also tu, do everything tu tu, ie blanket the mind. I often tell the story of two brothers from the mountain who sit in meditation all the time, but the elder brother sleeps and refuses to meditate. The younger brother could not bear it, holding the coal written on the wall: “ Life is very short, why are you lying all the time? In the afterlife it becomes a snake, misery is misery . " Brother saw that verse, took the coal next to him: “ Sitting forever is not lying, next life becomes a toad. So sad”. Do you see a toad sitting or lying down? The toad will also sit and sleep while sitting. The younger brother saw the poem immediately enlightenment. If we accept to meditate, it is not sophisticated, but if we do not meditate, it will not be. So, right at the seat of meditation, we look back at every idea that arises in our mind to transform. So even though we come and go in daily life, we still have the awakened energy of meditation to resolve what happens to us in life. That is the benefit of meditation. Reciting Buddha is the same, not waiting for sitting down to recite Buddha's name, but apart from that, we still create evil dharma, not a good practitioner.
VI. Is Meditation and Blessing related?
Zen master Suzuki said: " Meditation and reciting Buddha's name seem to be inconsistent, but bronze, because the goal of meditation is to understand the meaning of life and the destination of reciting Buddha too ." You see a person meditating, a person reciting Buddha's name, and these two do good deeds? Still doing the same good dharma. Also must keep the precepts, have compassion for beings suffering. Two people still see the law impermanence, egolessness, no nature. From that perspective, one can only engage in life to benefit others and understand the meaning of life, miserable beings suffer, miserable beings, happy ones. A person who practices without compassion for other sentient beings is not a true practitioner.
Great Master Lien Tri taught: " Practitioners recite Buddha's name to be in harmony with the permanent virtue of Amitabha Buddha, therefore the whole of Amitabha Buddha is the nature of each of us ".
One day, a monk came to ask Zen Master Zhaozhou: " What is Buddha? ”. The Zen master replied, " Day and night hundred and eight ." That is a day and a night but often awake, often aware, often miss his Buddha, it is Buddha.
Great Master Chau Hoang taught in Di Da, why: “ All day reciting Buddha's name is the whole day of reciting the mind. See then, the principles of Zen and the Pure Land, though different in the way of practice, are attributable to one purpose, because both are inseparable from the mind. What is that mind? It is Amitabha Buddha . "
So To Truc Lam has a poem:
“Pure land is pure heart, do not expect to ask Western
Amitabha is the light of enlightenment, one must find the Pure Land ”.
When our hearts were calm, when they died, they came to pick them up. It's like having a full salary then you can go anywhere. We have great blessings that in this life of Dharma, we still know the way to cultivate and transform, because in the Great Sutta, the Buddha taught, " Suppose there is a being, one day and one night, cultivate in My realm." This lady is equal to sentient beings living in the Western realm of Buddha Amitabha for one year. ”. But one day and one night in the Western realm is equal to the lower realms of Ta Ba a lifetime, because in the realm of Ta Ba very difficult to be patient. For example, when you are not at home playing and come here to study Buddhism to transform your mind, then what motivates you is the seeds of goodness of your dharma. We only cultivate one day and one night and from other realms cultivate for one year, why don't we spend one day and one night practicing. Seeing that, we will see in this life that we are still blessed to hear the Dharma of Buddha, to know which path is righteous, which path is evil, which we avoid, good which we do. So we are very blessed already, why say we are less blessed? As long as we stop the mind and don't create artifacts, we worry about not going to Western realms.
VII. EVIDENCE BETWEEN MEDITATION AND NET
Zen master Huyen Tru said: “ Zen is the essence of enlightenment for the meaning of life and death. And reciting the Buddha's name, teaching the problem of life and death. Choose one of the two paths because no argument arises there . ” If arguing, it is not Zen, nor Pure Land, because the meaning of both sides enlighten the path of life and death. Living without us knowing we are alive, not knowing we are eating rice, drinking water, they say we are like a living corpse. If we know how to live in a meaningful way, then death is no longer afraid. Buddhist Dhammapada teaches:
Who lived a hundred years
Evil world, not meditation
Better to live one day
Tri world, meditation.
Thus, between Zen and Tinh there is a link, if we take the time to contemplate, then the two methods are one, only the method of practice is a bit different. One side sat silently contemplating the mind from the heart itself.
In the Amitabha Sutta, the Buddha taught: “ Every Tathagata Buddha manifests itself in the dharma realm and penetrates the mind of all sentient beings. So every time you think of Buddha, your very mind is solemnly decorated with 32 good generals and 80 beauty. What is that mind? That mind is transformed into Buddha nature. That mind is the Buddha, the chief mind of the Buddhas rebelling in your minds. Therefore, you one-pointedly practice, visualize the Tathagata Buddha, He is an Arahant, Chief Justice of awareness . "
Absorbing this spot, Zen master Suzuki continued: “ Let the attention go to its highest level, there will be an intuition about the magical truths. Thus, rebirth means immortality, reciting Buddha's name means there is nothing left to recite. Because this mind is Tathagata, although the body is dependent on this world, the mind is happy and happy in the Pure Land . ”
Meditation is the same, even the body is bound, unclean, impure, but the mind is happy and happy as in the Buddha realm. Because mindfulness means there is nothing left to recite, but without mindfulness, knowing clearly means chanting as foot.
Therefore, the ancient virtue says:
Amitabha Tanh like as
Available in this past, there is no shortage
Who really discovered this ancient face
East and West all met him.
Through this point, you see between Zen and Pure Land a unique reality, right here and now. Our mind is pure, free, and peaceful, that is Pure Land. The Buddhas and the Patriarchs declared the occult, so that beings in this life would have a way to go, but which would eventually meet in the nature of Amitabha and the Pure Land ideal.
