The meaning of 7 steps of Buddha Shakyamuni.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH. Every spring to the full moon day of the fourth lunar month, the Buddha's disciples all over the world joyfully celebrate the birthday of the Enlightened One. The birth of the Buddha has opened up for mankind a way out of the sufferings of birth and death, which life has to bear in many samsara. From the initial step of looking for a teacher to learn the way to the discovery of his own mind, he went through many hardships, sometimes it seemed like giving up in the middle of a dark path. Finally, the fruit of enlightenment and liberation also came to the Blessed One, to whom gods and humans are turning and taking refuge. Today, once again the lotus season is in full bloom, Buddha's birthday is back. Together, we burned incense sticks, clasped hands in reverence, and reviewed the Buddha's birth process. I vow to follow in his path of practice, no matter how many difficulties and obstacles we encounter, we will not be discouraged and give up. The birth of the Buddha through the seven steps that the Crown Prince Thuy Ung Ban Khoi, the Sutra of Uba Di Tinh Hanh Dieu Phap subject to Thuy Ung, recorded as follows: After the conception of the Great Saint, near the full moon day, flowers bloom Queen Ma Gia returned to her motherland. On the way back to her old hometown, the Queen rested under a beautiful Lumbini flower garden. The queen leisurely walks around the garden, breathes the fresh air of the cool spring breeze, listens to the birds chirping on the branches, watches each flower bloom in the morning sun, then gently picks the branches When the flower of No Worry is born, the great Holy One is born. That birth is marked by the process of liberation and enlightenment, symbolized by the seven steps of the lotus blossom, which today's humanity is looking up to and following. 1. The first step Buddha looked to the East and said:"That East is the torch that illuminates the ultimate path for sentient beings in all fields" (Thi Dong in the direction of sentient beings en entrenched). The Buddha took the direction of the rising sun to indicate the development of wisdom. Indeed, from ordinary people to sages, there is no one who does not need the light of wisdom. Wisdom is a torch that lights the way to truth - goodness - beauty; that "Culture is the opening key". From the school of life to the school of religion, education is the top priority. Because "Teaching without learning is blind cultivation, learning without practicing is just a library containing books" . Initially learning Buddhism, practitioners must form their own knowledge of Buddhism through the sutras - laws - treatises left by the Buddha and the Patriarchs. Then, on the basis of reason and experience, to form for themselves a mortal wisdom to transform body and mind and the outside, then to attract holy wisdom by meditation, in order to escape the stream of birth and death suffering. From knowledge, the meditator turns to wisdom to unite his practice, to form good karma according to the corresponding law of cause and effect, to transform the body and mind and the external, from bad to good, from evil to good, from suffering. to be happy and happy. Therefore, the Blessed One turned to the second step. 2. The second step Buddha looked to the South and said: "The South is the field of blessings and blessings for sentient beings to sow and reap."(Thi Nam azimuth sentient beings with merit and merit). The Buddha took the South to show sentient beings by promoting wisdom, knowing how to contemplate deeply in reality, so they know how to turn to good karma. When he has formed his own knowledge of Buddhism, he brings it to contemplation and practice to transform the inner and the outer, to make the world community, in order to bring stability, freshness and peace to life. live a life of interdependence and happiness for mankind and spread to all kinds of sentient beings. Seeing clearly the corresponding law of cause and effect in a life of coincidence, one should not entrust one's life to an unreal supernatural being, not blame anyone, nor turn away or run away from reality. Buddha taught:“Treading clouds and drinking orange juice is also yours; It's your fault that you dig the depths of hell, and no one else's . " A particular karma interacts with the community karma; and the collective karma also affects the individual. It is clear that the world is turning crazy because people's hearts are crazy, and then together they create so much suffering for this world. An individual who creates bad karma will resonate in the life of the community; and communities that create evil karma also affect individuals. One must clearly see that all dharmas are interdependent, so one is all and all includes one, without relying or entrusting to anyone. In human life there are many sufferings, but not apart from the two sufferings of body and mind. The things that make the body miserable are mostly physical factors; such as not being aware of the harmful effects of drugs, tobacco, alcohol and foods containing chemicals, pesticides, things that pollute the environment, making the body biologically harmful. sickness and suffering. The things that make the mind suffer are mostly unhealthy psychological factors; such as greed, jealousy, pettiness, sarcasm, sarcasm, selfishness, stinginess, cruelty, high tribute, pride, love of struggle, preference for defeat, misunderstanding and delusion. There are sufferings of subjective factors as analyzed above; but there are also sufferings caused by objective factors such as natural disasters, wars caused by bad karma of many generations' past, creating "corresponding medical and right retribution".. Whenever he develops insight, he clearly understands the causes and consequences of all those sufferings; we just find a way to transform and eliminate. Therefore, aiming for good karma is to create a field of good luck for the real life of human beings. The Buddha taught: Bringing enemies to revenge themselves , everyone suffers. Compassion overcomes hatred. Peace and joy for thousands of years. That teaching is still a golden mold to save the destruction of humanity for today and in the future. We can't find holy wars by killing our fellow human beings with different labels from the Buddha's teachings. Dispelling bad karma, practicing good karma is the first step to study Buddhism, or to the south. 3. The third step the Buddha looked to the West and said:"The West shows sentient beings how to neutralize the motive of birth and death, put an end to the final birth and death" (Thi-Western sentient beings have the ultimate body and mind). The West is the setting sun, indicating the absolute rest of the mind. The mind-stream (Samsàra) has pushed beings in the six paths of transmigration from immeasurable kalpas to the present. The Buddha saw clearly that the cause of the stream of birth and death is the motivation of Ignorance. From ignorance arises Formation, from Formation arises Consciousness, from Consciousness arises Name-and-form, from Name-and-form arises the Six Inputs, from Six Inputs arises Contact, from Contact arises Feeling, from Feeling arises Craving, from Craving Clinging arises, from Clinging arises Being, from Being arises Birth, from Birth arises Old age sickness and death. Dismantle the false consciousness, or cut off the cause of all causes, so birth and death also cease. At this point the Buddha confirmed: "Birth has ended, gonorrhea has ended, the burden has been put down, what should be done has been done; from now on no more return to birth and death" ; Or is this the last birth. At this point, the self-enlightenment part was completed, the Buddha began to engage in life to save sentient beings. 4. In the fourth step, the Buddha looked to the North and said: "The North shows all beings that we have obtained the supreme righteous enlightenment" (Thi Bac in the direction of sentient beings fell and attained A Nau Da La Tam). Mieu Tam Bodhi). Sentient beings are writhing in the cold, dark (Northern) night with so much sorrow, pain, and suffering. The shadow of ignorance seems to forever weigh on the soul of the world. The mind stream of birth and death as you create seems to be forever swinging. The shadow of time obscures the image, as if pushing back to the indeterminacy of the reincarnation. But no, the Enlightened One appeared in the world, to serve as a torch to light the way to liberation and enlightenment. At this point, the Blessed One began to turn the wheel of the Dharma. He approached the world full of illusory but very painful. The Buddha is like a physician who knows illness and gives medicine, so whoever is seriously ill will be saved by him first. Therefore, he moved on to the fifth step, which is to approach life to convert depending on the conditions. 5. The fifth step Buddha looked down and said:"Down there, I will show sentient beings to conquer the magic power (of craving, delusion, and anger) in order to overcome all suffering" (Thi Ha in the direction of heterosexual sentient beings). Out of compassion for sentient beings writhing in the ocean of life suffering from the darkness of ignorance, the Buddha began to turn the wheel of dharma. From the city to the countryside, from the wild jungle to the busy streets, from the upper class to the impoverished; The Buddha, depending on the severity of the illness, saved and gave medicine. The lower direction is for the suffering of Hell, Preta, and Animal. The reason sentient beings fall into these three evil paths is due to the evil karma of the mind, mouth, and body, and the impulses of greed, hatred, and delusion. Indeed, because greed is out of hand, people infringe upon the wealth, fame, position, and survival of others. How many wars from ancient times to the present day, where not because of that greed? Also because of the bottomless greed that people call this and that to cause wars and suffering for each other, it seems that there is no end date. If you want to get rid of the three evil paths, you must bring your mind to the top, so the Buddha continues to show sentient beings in the upper direction. 6. The sixth step the Buddha pointed to the upper direction and said: "The above method is to show them to live in the right five personalities and ten good things."(Thi Thuong is in the position of sentient beings to take refuge in Heaven and Earth). Beings who want to escape from the three evil paths of hell, hungry ghosts, and animals must return to live in the right way with the five personalities (5 precepts) and ten good things. Indeed, the five personality traits are the foundation for a happy life, altruistic oriented, capable of protecting the race, the body, the source of life, and the reason for humanity's life. This is the moral measure of a person with enough reason and love in this world. 1-First of all, be aware that: Your life is the most precious, so you must respect your own life and that of others. Do not destroy it with toxins, food sources with chemicals and unhealthy mental products such as movies, books with violent content, hatred, etc. Do not kill each other's lives. Neither wage war nor endorse all senseless wars. We must use reason to neutralize suffering, use our hearts to love all. Man is not an object of hate, but what is hateful is the material of ignorance (ignorance) due to not realizing the reason for living in each soul. Eliminating ignorance by living in accordance with the five humanities is the first step to being an honest person. 2-Having a living body should have a living source to support the body Therefore, you must know how to create a source of life with your hands, brains and hearts. We must be conscious of protecting our own sources of life and those of others, so we must not deliberately rob each other of our life sources in any form. The source of life is created by the illumination of wisdom and the guidance of love, so it does not lose personality and does not create suffering. 3-The pursuit of marital happiness is what every person who is about to grow up in the world wishes. But, that happiness is not given by anyone, but created by yourself with reason and love. Thanks to wisdom, we know how to filter out the turbidity in every act of life. Always decorate life with fresh flowers, and warm the love life with true love. Realizing that, bringing happiness to others is also building peace and happiness for yourself. Clearly understand the reason in each other and go into each other (interaction), so don't make yourself or people miserable. Realizing a happy life together is knowing how to open the wisdom to manifest blissful dharmas for yourself and others. 4- And it is also thanks to the peaceful wisdom, one should know how to use loving speech in all communication of life. Know how to use gentle, gentle, loving, united and constructive words. Do not use harsh, harsh, rude, obscene, sarcastic, sarcastic, high tribute, conceited, divisive, hateful words. Avoid speaking falsehoods, except in selfless times. Don't go around telling people's fault, and don't criticize what you don't know. Aware that language is the common property of everyone, we should vow to use beautiful words or ideas to come into life, to bring each other healthy communications, to create a world of community in the faith of love and harmony. glasses. Do not watch or listen to books, movies and radio with unhealthy content. 5- Aware that wisdom is the torch that lights the way to truth, goodness and beauty, so vow to always keep the calm and clear mind. Because the soul is pure, it helps us to understand all good and bad deeds, good and bad in order to transform the body and mind and the outside. Therefore, promoting wisdom and protecting love are the pillars of human morality. With such awareness, one should not fall into alcohol, gambling, drug addiction and debauched pleasures, passion and loss of reason. That is the return to live in accordance with the five basic personality traits, to be a moral person in life. In addition, the Buddha also advised people to practice the ten virtues in order to have the morality of a god. The body is threefold: not killing, not stealing, and not committing adultery. There are four types of mouth: do not lie (false speech), do not speak two-way (two-way speech), do not speak harshly and rudely (evil speech), do not speak useless words (loose speech). There are three meanings: greed, anger, delusion, and wrong view. If you practice the ten virtues, you will have a happy life of a god. On the contrary, if you do the ten evil deeds, you will fall into the three evil paths of hell, hungry ghosts and animals. Therefore, that direction is the direction of heaven and man. 7.And finally the seventh step: The Buddha pointed up with one hand, pointed down with one hand and said: "Heavenly in the world, the only self-respecting one. Immeasurable birth and death, golden joy ends": From the heavens to the hells (beings always drifting in the three realms of six paths) are dominated by delusions of self-grasping; Therefore, it has been a long time in countless births and deaths, and this life is my last birth. Indeed, the consciousness of sentient beings that has been attached to the soul for countless lifetimes up to now, it is difficult to let go. Sometimes as a human being, sometimes being born in a heavenly species, sometimes somersaulting into hell, hungry ghosts, animals, etc. The mind-stream has existed since beginningless time, ruling sentient beings by the stream of samsara up and down according to karmic feelings. coincidental fate. At this point, he clearly saw that the owner of the house of birth and death is consciousness (unique soliloquy), so he should find a way to get out, or remove all motives of self-grasping and law-abiding. Therefore, every intention to seek the truth by the subjective consciousness of each mind (dharma method), it only creates forces that weigh down the soul and divide reality. If we observe the mind according to the pattern of memory that has been dead forever, we unwittingly turn our backs on reality with its origins. The truth of all things is the living essence that includes, and always operates in a shimmering, mysterious way. Therefore, using all means to monitor the mind, identify the mind, guide the mind, and tame the mind is just a way of controlling the mind, or establishing the mind of the Two Vehicles by the censors and the censored. While the censor (insight) and the censored (contemplative) are just mind. The Buddha clearly understood:“Mind cannot be grasped from within, from without, or in between. The mind has no direction, no thoughts, no medical facilities, no place of refuge. The Tathagatas do not see the mind in the past, in the present, or in the future . " (Buddhist scripture). What Buddhas can't see, how can they meditate? If there is contemplation, it is just contemplation of the false delusions of the mind. “A sword cannot cut itself, a finger cannot touch it, the mind cannot contemplate the mind . ” The methods established by consciousness (unique self-esteem) only create more confusion by the artist's own mind, and are still trapped in a thousand-year-old thought basket; It's like ants crawling around the mouth of a cup, looking for a way but can't get out. Buddha taught:"Seeing knowing without establishing knowing is the root of ignorance, seeing and knowing without establishing knowing is Nirvana" . Willing to realize the truth is not limited by the subjective stream of consciousness, so there is no need to accumulate knowledge nor to borrow anyone else's knowledge. True seeing and knowing is beyond the duality of duality, so we just need to empty everything and the mind is liberated, circulating, and uncontaminated. At this point, the Buddha affirmed: "Birth is over, gonorrhea has ended, the burden has been put down, what should be done has been done, from now on there is no more coming back to birth and death" . Self-awareness, self-enlightenment, and perfect enlightenment, a Buddha was born in the world. A process from ordinary people to Buddhahood must go through seven steps, which the Buddhas of the past, the Buddha Shakyamuni in the present have accomplished, and the Buddhas of the future will become. Today, celebrate the birthday of the Blessed One; with many reverential ceremonies by disciples of the Buddha around the world. But these remembrances are not limited to space and time, but are the remembrance of a rare great cause and condition that always shines, guides spiritual development, increases determination to practice, practice according to his teachings. Let's review together the process of learning that the Buddha has accomplished. I vow to take that as my personal salary for my path of learning, no matter how many difficulties and obstacles I encounter, I will not be discouraged and give up. Namo, the original teacher, Buddha Shakyamuni, great proof.END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.17/5/2021.
