SUMEDHA bodhisattva - great wisdom. The Perfectly Enlightened Bodhisattva Sumedha The Great Wisdom Bodhisattva Sumedha has transcendent wisdom born into the Brahmin lineage through 7 pure generations. The Bodhisatta studied the disciplines of the Brahmin lineage very deeply. When the Bodhisatta's parents died, the housekeeper who kept the treasures came to show the Bodhisattva the wealth and property of the family, ancestors, grandparents, and parents left to him. -Bodhisattva, a great fortune. The Bodhisatta considered that: “My ancestors, grandparents, and parents for seven generations have accumulated great wealth like this; When he died, no one could take anything with them. When it's our turn to die, we certainly can't take anything with us. Better! I should take this wealth as a blessing and give it to all the poor and needy, and I will live at home practicing the perfections of conduct. " One day, the Bodhisatta sat alone on the castle thinking: "The heat of the fire of greed, the fire of anger, the fire of delusion, ... exists; and the pure Nirvana that extinguishes the fire of greed, fire of anger, fire of delusion, ... also exists. “The suffering truth of rupa, nama in the three worlds exists; and the absolute peace of Nirvana of the super-three worlds also exists. “Rebirth is suffering, old age is suffering, sickness is suffering, death is suffering, … still exists; So we should aspire to realize Nirvana as the dharma of no birth, no aging, no sickness, no death, ... the dharma that liberates suffering.” The Bodhisatta considered that: "Life at home has many troubles, attachments, ... Better, we should give up the monastic home to become a Taoist." In order to carry out his intention, the Bodhisatta sent people to spread the word to the people in the country near and far. If anyone needs any wealth, he should come and get it at his own convenience. The Bodhisattva Sumedha left home, went to the mountains of Himavanta to become a monk. Sakka, the king of the gods, knew the will of the Bodhisattva, so he commanded the deity Vissukamma to appear in the human realm and turn into a cup of leaves at the foot of Himavanta mountain to offer as an offering. to the Bodhisattva-mahasattva Sumedha. At first, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who relied on living in a cup of leaves was very satisfied. Later, the Bodhisattva carefully considered that the cup of leaves has 8 disadvantages, but relying on living under the tree has 10 advantages, so the Bodhisattva gave up the cup of leaves to take refuge under the tree. practice-practice-meditation-practice tree. Every morning, the Bodhisattva-mahasattva Sumedha brought his bowl to the neighborhood to beg for alms. After his meal was over, the Bodhisattva returned to sit under a tree and pondered: "People have to work hard. and worked very hard to obtain this real thing. So, from now on, we should pick up the ripe fruit to eat and live through the day. We should not live easily (without mindfulness), diligently practice the Dharma, practice meditation, prevent lying posture, we should only maintain three postures: walking, standing, and sitting.” The Bodhisattva-madhisattva Sumedha diligently practiced the Dharma, practiced meditation within 7 days, and attained the four levels of form-sphere jhāna, the four formless-sphere jhānas, and the five knowledges of the three realms- The precepts (variety of knowledge, clairvoyance, hearing, knowledge of the other and past lives) enjoy peace while in meditation (Jhānasamāpatti) without knowing the Buddha. Dīpaṅkara appeared in the world. One day, the Bodhisattva-mahasattva Sumedha was traveling through the air, and saw the people of Rammavati happily repairing the road. Wanting to know what causes people to work in such a joyful way, the Bodhisatta immediately fell to the ground and asked those people: - Ladies and gentlemen! Ladies and gentlemen, who are you going to fix this road for someone to go, that you are so happy and joyful? - Dear Master Taoist, the most noble Buddha Dīpa nhấtkara in all the three worlds of sentient beings has appeared in the world. We are preparing this road to welcome the Buddha Dīpaṅkara and the 400,000 Arahants who will pass through this road. The Bodhisattva-mahasattva Sumedha just listened to the word "Buddha" with great joy, thinking: "It is a rare thing for a Buddha to appear in the world, it is extremely hopeful. - possess. We should try to practice all the good deeds, sow good conditions and make offerings to Buddha Dīpaṅkara.” After thinking, he immediately said to them: - Ladies and gentlemen! Ladies and gentlemen, repair this road to welcome the arrival of Buddha Dậtpa 400kara and 400,000 Arahants. So, Ladies and gentlemen, please give the poor way a path so that the poor can repair the road together, make offerings to receive Buddha Dīpaṅkara and the Arahants. The people knew that the ascetic Sumedha had many magical powers, so they pointed to the difficult muddy road. The Bodhisattva-mahasattva Sumedha thought, "If I use magical powers to repair this road, it's too easy, and the merit I get won't be much. So, if we should use our strength to make repairs, then we will certainly be more blessed. The Bodhisattva-mahasattva Sumedha tried diligently with his own strength, taking the land from another place to level it, the work of repairing the road was still about an arm's length away, at that time, hearing everyone cheered and cheered. Happy to welcome the arrival of Buddha Dīpa cùngkara and the 400 thousand Arahants, the Bodhisattva-mahasattva Sumedha decided: “Today I would like to offer my life to the Buddha Dīpaṅkara. , by lying face down on the rest of the way. May this body be used as a bridge, to make offerings to Buddha Dīpaṅkara and the 400,000 Arahants who pass by. Surely we will gain long-term benefit, evolution, and well-being.” The Bodhisattva Sumedha's Wish The Bodhisattva-madhisattva Sumedha reflected: "Today, if I give up the wish to become the Buddha, I will certainly become a Buddha. become an Arahant in the teachings of Buddha Dīpaṅkara, then will pass away Nirvana, free from suffering, birth and death, reincarnation in the three worlds alone; but how many other sentient beings are still drowning in the sea of suffering and suffering, suffering from birth and death. I cannot free myself from suffering alone.” Thinking thus, with great compassion and compassion for all sentient beings, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva Sumedha made a vow that: "Buddho bodheyyaṃ ..." When one realizes the truth of the Four Noble Truths, realizes the Four Noble Truths, the Four Noble Truths, the Four Noble Truths, and Nirvana, becomes the Buddha of Perfect Enlightenment, then I will preach the Dharma to teach sentient beings to also realize the truth of the Four Noble Truths, attain the 4 Noble Paths, the 4 Holy Fruits, and Nirvana, and become the Arahant according to me (self. sense and then enlightenment). “Mutto moceyyaṃ …” When I have freed myself from all attachments of craving and afflictions, and have realized Nibbāna, then I will lead all sentient beings to liberation from all attachments. -force of craving, affliction, realization of Nirvana follow me so (self-liberation and then forgiveness). "Tinno tareyyaṃ ..." When we cross the sea of suffering, birth and death, samsara on our own, and reach the peaceful Nirvana, then we will save and lead all sentient beings through the sea of suffering and death. reincarnation, Reaching Nirvana, peace and happiness follow me like that (self-contained and then self-extinguishing). At that time, a brahmin woman named Sumittā, holding eight lotus flowers in her hand as an offering to Buddha Dīpaṅkara, when she saw the ascetic Sumedha lying on his stomach, using his body as a bridge on the road. At that moment, she immediately generated pure faith, respectfully offered the ascetic 5 lotus flowers, and left 3 lotus flowers for herself. The Bodhisattva-mahasattva Sumedha lay on his stomach, holding five lotus flowers on his forehead in both hands. At that time, the Buddha Dīpaṅkara and 400 thousand Arahants were passing by with miraculous powers gently on the body of the Bodhisattva-mahasattva Sumedha, so the Lord- The ascetic bodhisattva Sumedha is safe. 1 The Brahmin Sumittā was the previous life of Princess Yasodharā. The Bodhisattva Sumedha was ordained as the first fully enlightened Buddha, only prophesying to the Bodhisattva of Perfect Enlightenment who meets the eight factors: 1- Humanity real (not Dragon-king or Thien-nam turning into a human). 2- A real man (not an androgynous man). 3- In the present life, there are full of paramita, it is possible to attain the 4 Noble Paths, the 4 Holy Fruits, and Nirvana, becoming an Arahant. 4- Directly to the Buddha-Buddha-Enlightenment. 5- The ordained ascetic has the right view of karma. 6- Fully attained 4 levels of form-world meditation and 4 levels of formless-world meditation, attained the five knowledge of the three worlds. 7- Deciding to offer one's life to the Buddha. 8- Firm aspiration, not discouraged, determined to become the Buddha of Perfect Enlightenment. The Bodhisattva-ascetic Sumedha meets the above eight factors, So the Buddha Dīpaṅkara stood above the head of the Bodhisattva-mahasattva Sumedha, with the Buddha-eyes of the future-knowledge (anāgataṃsañāṇa) clearly seeing, knowing in the future the aspiration to become Whether or not Sumedha's bodhisattva-samadhisattva's attainment of Buddhahood will be accomplished or not. With the Buddha's eyes seeing clearly, knowing well that the will of the Bodhisattva-Sumedha Bodhisattva will surely be accomplished, the Buddha Dīpaṅkara predicted the remaining time, saying: "In In the future time, with four more asanyas and one hundred thousand earth kalpas, this Sumedha ascetic will become the Fully Enlightened Buddha with the title of Gotama Buddha." Buddha Dīpaṅkara is the first fully Enlightened Buddha who prophesied to Gotama Buddha's previous life, the Bodhisattva of Perfect Enlightenment. From that, The Perfectly Enlightened Bodhisattva, ascetic Sumedha, who naturally becomes a fixed Bodhisattva of Perfect Enlightenment, will certainly become the Fully Enlightened Buddha with the title of Virtue. Gotama Buddha in the future. While listening to Buddha Dīpaṅkara predicting the remaining time thus, Bodhisattva Sumedha gave rise to great kindness-mind of great joy, and at the same time all the causes- Gods, deities, and Brahmas joyfully clasped their hands together and bowed respectfully to the Bodhisattva-mahasattva Sumedha, praising and praising, saying: "The Bodhisattva-mahasattva Sumedha will surely become The Buddha of Perfect Enlightenment in the future." The Bodhisattva Sumedha Has Great Compassionate Mind The Bodhisattva-madhisattva Sumedha in the past lives of Buddha Gotama knows well that: As long as there is rebirth, there is only suffering, sentient beings are reborn. In the 3 precepts, the 4 species all have to suffer, there is no real happiness, but only suffering is the truth-truth. In the life of the Bodhisattva-mahasattva Sumedha making offerings to receive the Buddha Dīpaṅkara, in that very present life, if the Bodhisattva-mahasattva Sumedha changes his will not to become a Buddha- Rightly Enlightened Buddha, but only wanted to become a Saint-Sravaka-Enlightened One, in that present life, Bodhisattva-mahasattva Sumedha was able to realize the truth of the Four Noble Truths, witnessing the truth of the Four Noble Truths. attaining the 4 Noble Paths, the 4 Holy Fruits, and Nirvana, eliminating all cravings and afflictions without any residue, becoming an Arahant with the four analytical wisdom, through the six dharmas of the Buddha Dīpaṅkara's teachings, then he will pass away Nirvana, liberate the sufferings of birth and death in the three worlds. But the Bodhisattva-mahasattva Sumedha has great compassion (mahākaruṇā) towards sentient beings who are still immersed in the sea of suffering and depression, Suffering from all the sufferings of birth, death, and rebirth in the three worlds and four species, the Bodhisattva-mahasattva Sumedha could not free himself from the sufferings of birth and death, so the Bodhisattva-mahasattva Sumedha still keep the will-wish to become a Buddha of Right Enlightenment to preach the Dharma to save, save sentient beings from the sea of suffering, and liberate the sufferings of birth and death in the three precepts and four species. Therefore, the Bodhisattva-mahasattva Sumedha accepted to endure innumerable eons of suffering, death, rebirth and rebirth for a long period of four aeons and one hundred thousand earth eons, in order to continue to practice and cultivate for the fullness of the 30 perfections of conduct, in order to become a Buddha of Perfect Enlightenment, to preach the Dharma to save sentient beings liberated from all sufferings. samsara in 3 worlds 4 species. So who is that group of sentient beings? Is there each of us in that group of sentient beings? The Bodhisattva-mahasattva Sumedha in the past and present life is the Gotama Buddha in our time. Time for Completing the 30 Laws of Perfection of Virtue The previous life of Buddha Gotama Buddha's previous life Sumedha Bodhisattva, Sammāsam-bodhisatta, the Bodhisattva of Right Enlightenment (Sammāsam-bodhisatta) had wisdom. Transcendental (paññādhika) means a Bodhisattva whose wisdom is more powerful than faith and diligence, so there are four aeons left and 100,000 aeons left. earth, in order to fully complete the 30 perfections: 10 lower perfections, 10 intermediate perfections, and 10 perfections -superior secret, from the first prediction by Buddha Dīpaṅkara until the 24th Buddha Kassapa's last prediction. The Bodhisattva with transcendent wisdom in the past lives of Buddha Gotama continued to practice for the complete completion of the 30 perfections of conduct until the last life of the Buddha-Bodhisattva. Prince Siddhattha had gone through 3 periods: the first period had 7 ascension periods, the middle period had 9 astanks, the last period had 4 astanks and One hundred thousand earth kalpas include 20 asanyas and 100,000 earth kalpas, which is half the time (1⁄2) of the time of the Bodhisattva of Perfect Enlightenment. sublime faith and a quarter (1⁄4) of the time of the Bodhisattva of Perfect Enlightenment, whose diligence transcends the practice of cultivating the full 30 dharmas perfection, to become the Perfectly Enlightened Buddha. Thus, the Bodhisattvas of Perfect Enlightenment who have transcendent wisdom, or have transcendent faith, or have sublime diligence, Each of the Bodhisattvas of Perfect Enlightenment practices the 30 perfections of conduct to be fully complete, although the time is short or long, but they all have the same goal of becoming a Virtue. Righteously Enlightened Buddha to preach the Dharma to save sentient beings from the sea of suffering and depression, and to liberate the sufferings of birth and death in the three worlds and four species. The Perfection of Dharma with Ending Nirvana, the Bodhisattvas of Perfect Enlightenment, the Bodhisattvas of Solitude, and the Bodhisattvas of shravakas. enough of their perfection of dharmas, they all have the final goal of Nirvana. - The Bodhisattva of Perfect Enlightenment becomes the Buddha of Perfect Enlightenment, completing all his duties, until the end of his life span, the cessation of Nirvana, liberation from suffering, birth and death, samsara in the threefold cycle of life. -gender. - The Bodhisattvas of Paccekabuddha become Single-Enlightened Buddhas, until the end of their lifespans, they pass away from Nirvana, liberate the suffering of birth and death samsara in the three worlds. - The Bodhisattvas of Sound-Enlightenment become Arahants, completing all their duties, until the end of their lifespans, the extinction of Nirvana, and liberation from suffering, birth and death, and the cycle of birth and death in the threefold cycle of life. gender. * The bodhisattvas who practice the perfections of conduct, whose ultimate goal is Nirvana, depend on those great wholesome actions as conditions leading to the realization of Nibbāna, which are stored there. in the mind of each life, accumulated from life to life in the cycle of birth and death in the three precepts and four species. Each life of the Bodhisattvas of Perfect Enlightenment, of the Bodhisattvas of Solitude, and of the Bodhisattvas of Sravakas, even though the body of each kalpa is changed according to the force of karma's fruition. , while the mind still arises and passes away continuously from life to life, the mind has the duty of accumulating and storing all the perfections, without losing a single bit. , In the cycle of birth and death, samsara in the 3 worlds and 4 species, on the straight path there is Nirvana. Therefore, those Bodhisattvas, being born and reborn, samsara in the three precepts and four species, from beginningless time to common existence, in the last life becoming an Arahant, they will pass away Nirvana, and be liberated from suffering and death. reincarnation in the three worlds. As for the rows of sentient beings who have created all good deeds without the ultimate goal of Nirvana, that good karma is also accumulated and stored in their minds, birth and death in the cycle of birth and death. 3 precepts 4 species, on a circular path, through countless lives from beginningless to endless with no end. Each being is related from life to life, from beginningless time through countless past lives to the present life completely unrelated to the body of each living being, but the true, only related to the mind (4 mental aggregates) of each lifetime of beings together, because each citta that arises and passes away continuously has the function of storing and fully accumulating all good karma and all negative karma from beginningless time through countless past lives to the present life, no did not lose a single bit. For example: In his last life, the Bodhisattva Prince Siddhattha will become Gotama Buddha, which is the result of the 30 complete perfections of conduct called the perfection of great virtue. secret that Buddha Gotama's countless past lives created during the period of 20 aeons and 100,000 earth kalpas. In his last life, Prince Siddhattha was born on the full moon day of the fourth month (lunar calendar) in the garden of Lumbin, Prince Siddhattha Bodhisattva has all 32 good signs of great people. , 80 minor good marks, that is the result of 30 great-karma-paramita. The Bodhisattva Siddhattha became Gotama Buddha on the full moon day of the fourth month (lunar calendar) in the forest of Uruvelā (now called Buddhagayā in India) at the age of 35, which is the fruit of the thirty three- the Bodhisattva's perfection. Practicing the Thirty Perfections of Conduct The Bodhisattva-mahasattva Sumedha continued to practice the 30 perfections to be fully complete, for the rest of the 4 days. a-tank and 100,000 earth eons. - What does the perfection of Dharma mean? – How to achieve the perfection of Dharma- conduct, page100image2917195760 Paramita is a translation from Pā Bai: Pāramī. Pāramī has many meanings, the main one being the supporting dharma-condition leading to the realization of sublime Nibbāna. How to accomplish the perfection of Dharma? In order to achieve any kind of perfection of dharma, the Bodhisattva needs to have a great wholesome mind that is completely pure, unpolluted by defilements especially craving (taṇhā), pride (māna), wrong view (diṭṭhi) and at the same time with great compassion (mahākaruṇā) and wisdom leading to the realization of Nirvana -table (upāyakosallañāṇā). * If all such conditions are met, then the Bodhisatta will accomplish the perfection of that level. * If such conditions are not fully met, one will not achieve such perfection of conduct, but only as ordinary great kusala kamma, not a supporting dharma-condition leading to it. realization of sublime Nirvana. The perfection of Dharma has 10 dharmas: 1- The perfection of giving (Dānapāramī). 2- Keeping precepts-paramita (Sīlapāramī). 3- Renunciation-paramita (Nekkhammapāramī). 4- Wisdom-paramita (Paññāpāramī). 5- Effort-perfection (Vīriyapāramī). 6- Paramita of patience (Khantipāramī). 7- Truth-perfection (Saccapāramī). 8- The perfection of vows (Adhiṭṭhānapāramī). 9- The perfection of loving-kindness (Mettāpāramī) 10- The perfection of equanimity (Upekkhāpāramī) Each perfection of conduct has 3 levels: lower, middle, and superior as follows: - The lower, middle, and superior perfection of giving. - Keeping the precepts of the lower, the middle, and the superior perfections. - Renunciation of the paramita of the lower, middle, and upper ranks. - Paramita of lower, middle, and superior wisdom. - Efforts of the paramita of the lower, the middle, and the upper classes. - Paramita of the lower, the middle, and the superior. - The lower, middle, and superior perfections of truth. – Vow-paramita of the lower, the middle, and the superior. - The perfection of loving-kindness in the lower, middle, and upper grades. - The perfection of mind-equanimity of the lower, the middle and the upper. Thus, the 10 perfections of conduct become 30 perfections of conduct: – the ten inferior perfections of conduct (pāramī). – 10 medium-level perfections (upapāramī). – The 10 highest perfections (paramattha-pāramī). In order to become the Perfectly Enlightened Buddha, the Bodhisattva of Perfect Enlightenment needs to practice the 30 perfections to be fully complete, in order to become a Virtue. Right-Enlightened Buddha. Therefore, the Bodhisattva Gotama Buddha's previous life should practice the 30 perfections as follows: - 10 lower perfections (pāramī): When practicing any inferior perfections, the Bodhisattva Gotama Buddha's previous life of Perfect Enlightenment needs to sacrifice what is outside of his body. such as possessions, possessions, thrones, even wives and children, in order to accomplish that perfection of Dharma. * Example: Vessantara Bodhisattva is the previous life of Buddha Gotama practicing the perfection of giving, Most beloved prince Jāli and princess Kaṇhā come to the brahmin Jūjaka. King Vessantara also practiced the perfection of giving, giving away his beloved wife, the beloved Queen Madd, to the brahmins. – 10 intermediate perfections (upapāramī): When practicing any intermediate perfections, Buddha Gotama Buddha's previous life of Right Enlightenment Bodhisattva What parts of the body must be sacrificed in order to achieve that intermediate perfection of Dharma. * Example: The Bodhisattva-King of Sivi is the previous life of Buddha Gotama who practiced the middle perfection of giving, giving the two right and left eyes to the right and left eyes. for the blind old brahman with his eyes. – 10 supreme perfections (paramattha-pāramī): When practicing any superior perfections, The Bodhisattva of Right Enlightenment in the previous life of Buddha Gotama needed to sacrifice his life in order to achieve that supreme perfection of Dharma. * Example: Sasapaṇḍita, the Bodhisattva of good faith, practices the supreme perfection of giving, so the Rabbit-Bodhisattva jumps on the fire to cook as food for his father. - give alms to the brahmin for alms. The previous lives of Buddha Gotama Buddha's Bodhisattva Perfect Enlightenment practiced the 30 perfections to their full completeness during the period of 4 as a monk and 100 years of practice. thousand aeons of earth, in order to become the fully enlightened Buddha with the title of Gotama Buddha. There are many previous lives of the Bodhisattva Gotama Buddha, who practiced the cultivation of the perfections of conduct in the human realm. After that Bodhisatta died in the human realm, the great-virtue of the desire precept results in rebirth as a deity in the desire-sphere heaven, but in order to soon complete the 30 perfections of conduct, the heavenly-nam Bodhisattva did not want to enjoy the bliss of that heavenly realm until the end of his life, but the Bodhisattva-goddess vow to give up the heavenly male birth (death), the great-virtuous sex-karma for the fruit of rebirth as a man in the human realm, in order to facilitate the practice of the three-way Dharma la-mi, because the human realm in this South-Compassion-State is very special than other realms in the Three Realms: * Favorable for the practice of the noble holy life. * Favorable for the practice of all kusala dharmas: sex precepts kusala dharmas, rupa precepts wholesome dhammas, formless mundane dharmas dhammas and especially the super-three worlds wholesome dharmas. * Favorable for the practice of the 30 perfections of conduct. * The Perfectly Enlightened Buddha, the Paccekabuddhas, the Supreme Saints, and the Great Saints, all achieved achievements in this human realm. The incarnations of Buddha Gotama Buddha's transcendent wisdom transcending the past lives of the Bodhisattva of Perfect Enlightenment complement the full 30 perfections of conduct during the four ascetics. period and 100 thousand aeons, predicted by 24 Buddhas of Perfect Enlightenment, determining the remaining time, starting from the first Dīpaṅkara Buddha until the last 24th Kassapa Buddha, through countless indescribable lifetimes. To the last life near the penultimate life, the Bodhisattva King Vessantara practiced the practice of complementing the perfection of dharma- the perfection of giving: the gift of treasure elephants, the alms of the prince Jāli, the -Lord Kaṇhā, Chief Chaplain-Empress Madd, etc.. After the death of the Bodhisattva-King Vessantara, the great-virtuous-karmic sex world gave birth as a deity named Setaketu on Tusita heaven, the fourth of the six worlds of desire, enjoys peace in that heaven.END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.22/5/2021.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.
