The Implication of the Universal Gate in the Lotus Sutra.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.
We must know that Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva is using our eyes to hear, not using our ears. If we use our eyes to hear, then it is Avalokitesvara, reaching this realm all suffering is liberated.
Why is it called Pho Mon? Because his own nature is widespread throughout the space of the Dharma Realm, it is called Universal Gate. This sutra was translated by Dharma Master Cu Ma La Thi in the reign of Dieu Qin (406). Why call Tripitaka? The Tripitaka includes the Sutras, the Laws, and the Abhidhamma. If they are well-versed in the Sutras, they are called Sutras, if they are well-versed in the Vinaya, they are called Lawyers, and if they are well-versed in the Sutras, they are called gurus. He is well-versed in the Sutras, Laws, and Commentaries, so he calls the Tripitaka Dharma Master. The shaman specialized in translating the sutras, the translation of the sutras was very true to the Buddha's will, and was respected by the contemporary King. The Master said in advance: “ If I translate the Sutras wrongly, then cut my tongue off; But if I translate the Buddha's words correctly, after I die, everything can be destroyed, except for the tongue ." After the monk passed away, the tea was taken away, all burned down, leaving only the tongue. Prove that the Sutras translated by Him are not wrong.
Main text:
When the Buddha was preaching the Dharma, Bodhisatta Bodhisatta stood up from his seat, lifted his right sleeve, knelt down on his right foot, and said to the Buddha:
- World Honored One, for what cause and condition is Guan Yin Bodhisattva called? is Avalokitesvara?
Buddha said: "If there are immeasurable, boundless sentient beings, who have suffered all kinds of sufferings, hear Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, and single-mindedly proclaim his name, Guanyin Bodhisattva will be able to meditate on the sound and cause liberation."
According to the world, sound must be heard with the ear, cannot be seen with the eyes, but the person who understands the calculation thoroughly and then uses the six senses to use it, that is, to hear with the eyes and see with the ears. The word Quan means using the eyes to hear sounds, which is the use of self-nature, so the three words Avalokitesvara are only about their own nature, not really there is a Bodhisattva named Avalokitesvara.
Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, hearing his name come to help: not only this world, including the countless countless, boundless and boundless worlds of the world, every sentient being who asks for help will be saved. For example, today's radio has a strong wave, even if the radio is small, it can be recorded if it follows the wave correctly. The same applies to our own Self-nature, throughout the space of the Dharma Realm, if our practice sweeps away everything, the five aggregates are empty, until the void appears, the self-nature manifests itself, ie the self-nature saves us. , but not Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara or anyone else.
We must know that Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva is using our eyes to hear, not using our ears. If we use our eyes to hear, then it is Avalokitesvara, reaching this realm all suffering is liberated.
As mentioned above, the three words Avalokitesvara are their own nature, everyone is available, the power of magical transformation is no less than Buddha, so it is called Buddha nature. The reason why Buddha brought out all that we can only promote a little, less than a millionth, due to slow promotion, it is called karma; If fully developed, it is called divine power.
Our present transformation is slow even to ourselves; such as hair, nails, cells... every moment changes, the body changes every moment, day and night doesn't stop, but we don't know it ourselves. Every time you change a stage, the cause and effect is equal to the three worlds: The previous life creates this life, this life creates the next life. Because it is necessary to create only the mind, because the mind creates karma.
For example, our mental strength to the peak is one million degrees, now our mental strength is only one degree, meditation will always increase to ten degrees, then hundreds of degrees, thousands of degrees.... As long as the mental strength increases to five hundred thousand degrees (half of the mind energy), then it is possible to transform this and that, which is called divine power. So the Flower Adornment Sutra says: "The mind is like a talented painter who skillfully paints all kinds of worlds and paints heaven and hell."
In this talk about "Reserving the title of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara"; This word Tri, many people mistakenly think of chanting as Tri, every day chanting the Universal Gate Sutra says that it is upholding the Universal Gate Sutra, but they don't know that Tri is to practice. For example, we monks and nuns have to uphold the precepts. Every fortnight, we slap a slap (i.e. recitation of precepts) once, if it is not correct to say precepts, we must follow the precepts to practice. So is Tri.
As long as you practice the Dharma correctly, you will reach the same use as Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara. The power of Automatic Self-nature, without intention, has reached this realm, entering the fire does not burn, entering the water does not sink, you can do whatever you want, because of one-pointedness, the divine force is revealed, all accidents are Be free. Because of this predestined condition, it is called Quan The Am.
If you practice the right method, when the self-nature shows up, you will be beheaded by a knife but your head will not be cut, the knife will break in pieces; (In the past, when I read this far, because I did not understand this meaning, I thought it was childish, but now I believe it. This explanation makes no sense, but it is the truth). Demons and rakshas who want to eat human flesh and suck human essence can't hurt, not only can't harm, not even the eyes can see. In Zen Buddhism there is a story as follows:
An ancestor had established his identity and worked as an Abbot at a temple for more than thirty years, but Gia Lam Bo-slaps could not see that Abbot's face, because he always had an aura around him. government. One day, the Bodhisatta asked the
abbot in the temple: -I want to admire the portrait of the Abbot, is there any way?
ANSWER: "It's easy, tomorrow, when you eat the sugar fruit, you will see it when you spill the rice bowl."
Old Lam Bo-slaps did as the Chairman said, the Most Venerable Abbot saw this and scolded:
"The food from the benefactor, why are you so careless!". At the moment of scolding, the aura was reduced, and the old Bodhisattva had the opportunity to pay homage, but then the Master's aura was covered, and could not be seen.
Each of us has an aura, just need a strong mind. So when the power of self-nature manifests, the bodhisattva can't even see it, let alone ghosts and spirits!
Text:
Regardless of whether a person is guilty, shackled and chained, all terrors and calamities, by single-mindedly claiming the name of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, will be disbanded and liberated.
If you want to achieve one-pointedness, you need to practice normally. When you meditate, you have to be one-pointed, without a single thought. For example, in Zen meditation, there is only one first line, no special thoughts, then the use of Self-nature is manifested.
- Endless Intention Bodhisattva, if sentient beings indulge in lust, they will be free from lust; greed and anger will also be exhausted, and the foolish will gain wisdom.
Now there is a fact that many Buddhists, after a period of meditation, have given up on previous hobbies such as dressing well, going out, singing, etc.. The self-nature of all sentient beings is fully available, no less than Buddha. Because it is covered by greed, hatred, and delusion, it cannot promote it. Like dust that obscures the light of a mirror, if the dust is swept away, then the light of Mirrors are shown, as much as you scan the drums, you will see how much use is, ie use means no, ie no use, no use to extremes, use to extremes, vivacious universal, immeasurable boundless. Mirror light is inherently enough, it is not because of cleaning that it becomes a mirror. Our self-nature is inherently magical to transform like a Buddha, not by cultivation.
The use of Self-nature has such great power and divine power, so it can benefit all sentient beings, and all sentient beings must focus on their own self-nature to attain enlightenment, must wipe away all their attachments. When the self-nature appears, it is okay to use it, because it is already free! So if you want to beg for a man, be a man, ask for a woman, get whatever you want, as long as there is a little bit of suffering, you will not be so free.
The Buddha said: If there is a person who upholds and upholds 62 billion countless bodhisattvas, his merit and virtue will be the same as that of the person who upholds and upholds the name of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva.
Why say 62 and not 61 or 60? Because the views of beings have 62 things: That is: Four statements x five aggregates = 20. 20 x three worlds = 60. 60 + Being & non-being = 62. All attachments are not outside of these 62 things, so take the divisor. number 62 to counter 62 attachments, just one Avalokitesvara is enough. As mentioned above, Self-nature is full of everything, with space, throughout the dharma world, all of which is not outside of self-nature. Saying "Mind includes space in the Dharma Realm" is still not correct, because for the mind as the mind, space in the Dharma Realm is space in the Dharma Realm, as the second; Self-nature is non-dual, space legal world is mind, mind is space legal world; self-nature means mind, mind means self-nature, neither two nor the other. 62 million, said a lot, but the sum is only non-dual, just the self-nature of Avalokitesvara, so merit and virtue are equal.
Although the world's merits and virtues are numerous, they will eventually run out, while the merits of self-nature cannot be exhausted, because they are not born and die, neither increase nor decrease. Therefore, the Buddhas and Patriarchs only want us to be enlightened, when we are enlightened, the power of our own nature is brought into play, so we must uphold it. To maintain is to want to sweep it clean, now that it is not clean, that energy can only be called potential, ie latent in the self-nature.
- Say 32 impersonation of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara to save sentient beings; Any sentient being who needs the Buddha body to save will manifest the Buddha body, need the bodhisattva's body to save the bodhisattva's body, etc., in short, it's just that it depends on the capacity of each sentient being, as the Sixth Patriarch said: self-nature", Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva is self-native, sentient beings are also self-determined; Self-nature is the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, not others. If others can save it, then the Buddha has great compassion, has already saved all sentient beings, there is no need to work hard to cultivate!
At that time, Endless Italy Bodhisattva want offerings Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva by deep string He Lac precious, initially Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva refuses to recognize, and Endless Italy Bodhisattva said:
- Have mercy on us and take the worms.
At that time, the Buddha also said to Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, saying: "Have mercy on the Bodhisattva Bodhisattva and the four assemblies and the realms of gods, humans, Asuras, etc., and accept them." Therefore, Quan The Bodhisattva Bodhisattva received and divided the chain into two parts, one part made an offering to Shakyamuni Buddha, the other part made an offering to the Buddha Stupa of Many Treasures.
This is the picture for Dharma giving, if you don't hear the Dharma of giving, you won't know how to practice, can't get rid of suffering. Endless Intention Bodhisattva wants sentient beings to respect the Three Jewels, because he is the representative of the present. on behalf of all Dharma listeners, including the four assemblies: bhikkhus, bhikkhunis, lay men and women, and the celestial dragons and eight families, made offerings to Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara.
The self-nature of the divine power of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara is throughout the Saha world and immeasurable boundless worlds. At that time, Bodhisatta Infinite Intention asked the Buddha:
- Bach World-Honored One, what is the cause and effect of Buddhists, the name Avalokitesvara?
The Buddha said: The virtue of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva throughout the ten directions of the world, all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas have great vows as deep as the sea, not limited by time, quantity, and cannot be measured by wisdom. . Now, let's say it through: Because hearing the name does not let go of the body, the mind does not let go, until the self-nature is revealed, all suffering will cease.
Here it is said that "Listening to the name and seeing the body, the mind does not leave it undone", just as the Shurangama Sutra says that "Listening" is the antithesis of self-nature, not really hearing the name or actually seeing the body, Self-nature is not If there is a form, as the Vajra Sutra says: "Without a body, it is a great body." If there is a form, it is not a great body. For example, when we meditate now, if we have no delusions and no doubts, we will fall into the void, that is, leave the void, for the practice is useless.
- Suppose someone wants to harm themselves, rushes into the fire pit, by using self-nature will turn the fire pit into nectar, all calamities, evil beasts, firearms, etc... will be resolved by using self-nature , all sufferings of birth, old age, sickness and death, hell, hungry ghosts, animals ... are dissipated.
- Reaching that realm is called True Contemplation, no longer involved at all, no illusions, all is pure, always clean and not, called Thanh Tinh Quan. At that time, that wisdom is Prajna, like worldly wisdom, not limited by quantity, called the Great Wisdom Quan. Contemplating the sufferings of sentient beings and bringing joy, one's own nature naturally attains no-conditional loving-kindness and compassion, that is, there is no self to save sentient beings, no sentient beings to receive the help of sentient beings. I, I and sentient beings are one body, called Bi Quan and Tu Quan.
The five types of contemplation: True Contemplation, Purity Contemplation, Great Wisdom Contemplation, Compassion Contemplation and Magnetic Contemplation, are all uses of self-nature. People today often say "Compassion and love", thinking that compassion and charity are the same, but in fact, they are as different as heaven and earth; Charity is self-grasping, having a self to give to the masses, while compassion is without self, without self and forgiveness: There is no me for the masses and the masses to receive my compassion.
- Now, we have not reached this point, we have to constantly contemplate, practice day and night without interruption, when the dirt of habitual habits is swept away, the pure light of Self-nature appears, like the sun causing The dark clouds are disbanded, all calamities, winds, fires, storms are gone, the world is enlightened, all sentient beings receive the rain of nectar, the former afflictions are extinguished. It is because of the Avalokitesvara and the Sanskrit oceans, so they must be constantly contemplating.
Pham means purity, and Hai tide is the day and night without interruption. The same is true of our own nature, even though we are living beings now, our self-nature has been like that since time immemorial, never interrupted, even though reincarnated as an ox or a dog, there is still no interruption, so we must contemplate our own self-nature. . Now that we meditate, we return to our own nature.
Grounded Bodhisattva, who was seated in his seat, stood up and said to the Buddha,
"World-Honored One, if sentient beings hear the quality of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, the supernatural powers of Self-nature manifest themselves everywhere, and their merits are not lacking." .
When the Buddha finished teaching the Universal Gate, there were eighty-four thousand sentient beings among them who had generated the Bodhi mind.
Bodhi mind means Enlightenment mind, Enlightenment mind means no-attainment, no-attain mind comes to the highest enlightenment, if you still have possession, you still cling to self, not Bodhi mind, you won't reach enlightenment. tallest.END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.31/5/2021.
