The story of Shakyamuni Buddha walking 7 steps on a lotus.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.
He was born around 623 BC, real name Siddhartha, of the Sakyamuni family, son of King Tinh San and Queen Maya. Unlike normal babies, who were only 9 months and 10 days in their mother's womb, but only He was born in the womb for exactly 10 months.
Near the date of birth, Queen Mada, according to the old custom, returned to her motherland to give birth. Arriving at Lumbini garden, the Queen got off the car and roamed in the beautiful garden. Seeing that the flower branch has been unhurried for thousands of years, the Empress holds onto the flower branch with her hand. From the sky, thousands of bright lights, the music of the sky resounded everywhere, the flowers of the sky fell like rain. The Queen seemed to be immersed in silence, at the same time the Buddha was born.
The history of Buddhism records: "Having been born, the crown prince walked 7 steps, under each step a lotus flower lifted his heel. At the last step, his hand pointed to the sky, his hand pointed to the earth, he loudly raised his voice: In heaven under heaven, I am the noblest of all…”

The meaning of His 7 lotus steps
Seven steps, the number that indicates the universe (time divided by 3 plus space with 4 dimensions). In addition, there is also a symbolic number of the sequence of practice, which is the seven steps to enlightenment: Seven Bodhi part:
1. The first step: The Buddha looked to the East and said: "That East is the torch that lights the ultimate way for sentient beings in all fields". The Buddha used the direction of the rising sun to indicate the development of wisdom.
2. The second step: The Buddha looked to the South and said: "The South is the field of blessings and peace for sentient beings to sow and reap". (Thi Nam azimuth sentient beings with merit and merit). The Buddha took the South to show sentient beings by promoting wisdom, knowing how to contemplate deeply in reality, so they know how to turn to good karma.
3. The third step: The Buddha looked to the West and said: "The West only shows living beings how to neutralize the motive of birth and death, ending the final birth". try). The West is the setting sun, indicating the absolute rest of the mind.
4. The fourth step: The Buddha looked to the North and said: "The North only shows sentient beings that we have attained the supreme righteous enlightenment" Tam Mieu Tam Bo Bo). At this point, the Buddha began to turn the wheel of dharma. He is like a physician who knows the mental illness of sentient beings, whoever is seriously ill will be saved by him first. Therefore, he moved on to the fifth step to approach life in order to change fate.
5. The fifth step: The Buddha looked down and said: "Under that direction, I will help living beings conquer the magic power to overcome suffering" (Thi Ha in the direction of living beings is heterosexual. Because of his compassion for human beings who are suffering from a lot of suffering due to bigotry, greed, anger, etc., so he arbitrarily declared the truth to let everyone in turn give up those attachments.

6. The sixth step: The Buddha pointed to the upper direction and said: "The upper direction is only for living beings who are living in accordance with the five personalities and practicing ten good karmas" (Thi Thuong in the direction of sentient beings taking refuge in heaven and earth). try). These are the wholesome kammas to be practiced in order to get rid of suffering.
7. Seventh step: The Buddha pointed up with one hand, one hand pointed down and said: "Heavenly in the world, only one self. Immeasurable birth and death, the end of gold happiness." I am drifting in the three realms and six paths, all controlled by self-grasping, and in this life is my last birth.
the meaning of the Buddha's 7 steps I am the most precious because no one has stepped out of this Three Realms, no one has yet come out of this six paths of samsara. I'm the one out. So his statement, his first declaration, is really what it means.”
What is the meaning of the Buddha's statement when he was born?
Going back in time 2627 years ago from the day the Buddha appeared in the world, for the first time when the Buddha's 7 footsteps came down to this world, he immediately declared:
"Heaven in the world is the only self-respecting self
All sentient beings are born, old, sick, and die."
This is the first sentence he said when he was born. The above sentence we can understand: In heaven and under heaven, human life is worth deciding on its own! Find out your value, not find out what value is outside of who you are, first you need to find the value in yourself first. When we have found the value of wisdom in ourselves, we should bring that value to apply in our present life.
If we do not understand the value of our own inherent wisdom, we will be lost in life. Understanding the above statement, we no longer lower our self-worth in life and that life is decided for us by ourselves, not by gods or Brahma who can decide for us. OK.
This is also the last reflection on the 49th day, before the Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree of Gaya, known as Shakyamuni.
