The Bodhi tree (Ficus religiosa), referred to as the Bodhi tree, is a species of the genus Bodhi tree (Ficus) originating in India, Southwest China and Indochina to the east of Vietnam. It is a deciduous or summer deciduous tree, 30 m high and 3 m long trunk. Its leaves are heart-shaped with a distinctive elongated ridge; leaves 10-17 cm long and 8-12 cm wide, petioles long 6-10 cm. The fruit of the Bodhi tree is a small fruit-like fruit and 1-1.5 cm in diameter in green purple.
According to Buddhist beliefs, the Bodhi tree in some other languages ​​is called Bo, Pipul or Aśvattha, Assattha (Pali). The word Aśvattha is Sanskrit; Śvaḥ means "tomorrow", a denial, and forgiveness means "person or thing stops or exists". The famous philosopher of the Advaitavedānta sect Śaṅkara interprets this name as "A person or thing cannot exist like that tomorrow", just as the entire universe. This plant is considered the most sacred symbol by Hindus, Jews and Buddhists. In fact, the Bodhi tree is closely related to the historical fact about the attainment of Prince Siddhartha, who meditated under the Bodhi tree and became a Buddha. Later, people took this tree represents the tree of enlightenment, so Bodhi means enlightenment.
In fact, the Bodhi tree during the Buddha's enlightenment period was destroyed by the king of Bengal, ṣaṣaṣka, in the 7th century.
