A true monastic person, we first need to understand the importance of a life of discipline, rule, and precepts. If there is no discipline in a religious life, it is difficult to overcome the despair. Because, the desire to think sexuality as a crazy buffalo, can seduce, draw us into the devil's path.
Many people want to make their own transformation, but the many lifetimes go on pushing them into the path of chaos, because they are not skillful to organize a life of a framework, well-being. Therefore, at the time of entering nirvana, Germany Buddha taught his disciples to take precepts as teachers. In the picture of the buffalo family of Zen, the precepts are symbolized by the bow tie.
Some people misinterpret Zen, saying that the teaching of "Dependent on karmic affection, innocently wearing Siamese clothes" , or "hungry eating and sleeping" of Zen masters means Zen advocates freedom and freedom, No need to follow the ritual rule. In fact, freedom is not about letting go of a loose lung, doing what you want to do. Freedom cannot separate discipline, morality whether in daily life or in the religion.
Shurangama, Buddha: "If you do not uphold the precepts, whether achieved meditation, also falls in ma" . For the Zen masters, having realized and lived with their own Buddha's nature, that innocence and customary conditions come from self-nature and manifest action. They live in freedom and freedom, up and down, all things are moral.
And we, when we have not fully survived with the pure mind, never forget the precepts to preserve, never to assimilate the liberal liberalization of enlightened ones with freedom. of mortals.
Buddhism is a religion that is not heavy on divine powers, but gives people the inherent values; man is the master of the universe and his own. Therefore, Buddhism is a self-reliant religion, based on causal morality and very high human spirit. Usually, we have to blame others for our misery or discomfort, forgetting to look back to see if we are at fault.
Buddha taught, from countless lifetimes, because our mouths and mouths have created so many good and evil kamma, and then follow the life-longevity of life, lingering in the cycle of birth and death. These things are called luck or risk, those who call them grace or resentment come to them, they feel the feeling from their previous life. There are personalities, plus supportive conditions, certain results must be present.
The cause and effect is an eternal truth, so people who understand religion always have a sense of responsibility and self-reliance, not looking out for demand, and never blaming anyone.
When the Buddha was close to nirvana, A-nan asked Buddha four problems as follows:
1. Which method to rely on?
- Nuong in the Four Mindfulness.
2. After the Buddha passed away, who did you take as a teacher?
- Take precepts as a teacher.
3. What is the beginning of each scripture?
- Like marketing writer.
4. How is the monk evil?
- Tri by wearing.
Here we only discuss the issue of precepts. Indeed, the precepts are the great masters of the four Buddha families. No matter what method we are cultivating, we must follow the path of the Three-Taken Path of the Uncertainty which is precepts - wisdom. Keeping the precept is to stop all evil, to do all good and to create a basic moral life. The monk wants to build a high-level intellectual building, to build a strong moral foundation.
At the time of the Buddha's life, every year from the full moon in April to the full moon of July, the monks had to carry out the regime of settling, that is, the peace of the place where a resident resided to take the regents, the effort to practice gender - to - wisdom. The first reason the Buddha set up this regime is because in the lower three months, in India there is a lot of rain, the water flooded the entire path, then the insects proliferate, so it is difficult for them to go on missionary and immoral love to kill insects.
After three months of detention, the Buddha noticed many monks attained sacred fruits, thanks to less travel, avoiding less charming conditions and spiritual practice. Due to that result, after this period, detention in the lower three months was maintained forever.
Settlement must go hand in hand with the world. Activities of monks at this time are different from normal days. Ordinary days, due to the intermittent affinity, you can travel to do buddhas, discipline in the Sangha sometimes loose. But in the lower three months, everything was neatly arranged, the monks were only limited to the monastery's campus; only those who have a special affinity, must ask the reporter to go out.
At first glance, the monks seem to be idle, not bothering about their livelihood because of Buddhist support and support; But the inner truth of the results is a fighting school! On the one hand, I have to close myself to a very strict discipline, on the other hand, I have to fight hard with sorrowful practices. Thus, after a time of abstinence, if any person who keeps the precepts, attempts to study, and attains strength, then there will be significant progress.
Where to organize serious spiritual practice will be able to produce people who have ways, and if the organization is loose, it will be difficult to train the Sangha. Thus, any monk who can arrange the work, avoids the conditions, can organize for himself a certain period of time to meditate.
As mentioned above, spiritual practice does not mean focusing only on three months, because it is a continuous process and a long-term school. However, on normal days, due to the many Buddhas having to intervene, the impulse of body and mind is not as strong as the time in a pure environment, with the mass concentrated. Especially with the young monks and nuns, the lower school is also a convenient place to be close, learn about the virtues and practices of religious teachers, the noble leaders have had the process of witnessing.
Returning to the precepts, apart from applying to individual practitioners, there are also principles of cohabitation in the Sangha. The spirit of community reconciliation is the driving force for the Sangha to develop and perfect, in which equality is the focus: equality in materiality (body of peace and harmony, mutual benefit), equality in law processing (societies of monks), harmony in thought and words (ants agree to solve, Italian harmonies to approve, and to avoid harmless speeches).
Thanks to living in this spirit, the masses have a harmony from form to content, as the Buddha taught: "In order for the Sangha to be stable, to keep the bhikkhus difficult to hold, so that the monks can be fine try yourself . ” Purification of the body and mind of each individual and harmony in the collective life is the deep and noble meaning of the two Sangha words.
The Hoa Nghiem Sutra, the Buddha taught: "The precepts are the root of Bodhi, the gate of Nirvana, the boat that takes sentient beings through the sea of life and death . " Buddhist precepts are not dogmas, rigid legal regulations, but voluntary practices.
Each person has the right to respect or not, and to enjoy good results on his own or suffer bad consequences depending on his actions. Purifying the religious life by way of precepts is not only of special importance to the monastic community and each monastic monk, but also deeply affects the surrounding environment and the whole society. .
Because everyone has an organic relationship with all things, the monk with three pure karmas will have great empathy for the community, not only with a teacher but also with a teacher. Therefore, the harmonious Sangha will help purify human life, thereby contributing to social security.
Actively keeping the ban on gender is the first and fundamental content, always upheld and reminded during the life of the monk. From that first basic step, the new renunciation deserves the Head of Tathagata, the legal level in the Sangha, bringing the Buddha Dharma to build the world, making the Buddha Dharma wise, all beings are well-off.
