Right Understanding and Right Thought.VIETNAMESE  translate english by=Thich chan tanh.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.

Prajna is the distinction between what is right or wrong, beneficial or harmful. For this, we have the last two paths in the right path: right view and right mind (righteous motivation in thought).

Right understanding  relates to what we believe to be true, based on the right distinction between right and wrong, or harmful or beneficial. The right motivation  is positive, leading to right view.

becoming aware.

We can position ourselves right or wrong:
  • We can discriminate properly and believe that it is true
  • We can erroneously distinguish and believe that it is true
The wrong idea is when you have the wrong distinction, but give it the truth, and the right opinion is the right distinction, and that is the truth.

Herical views.

The wrong view is such as asserting and believing that his behavior is not moral, with some negative behaviors and some positive behaviors, and believing that they do not bring about consequences in terms of what I will experience it later. Today, this is expressed by the "whatever" attitude of many people. Alright; nothing important. Whatever; If I do or don't do this, it's fine. That's wrong. It doesn't matter whether you smoke or not smoke, but if you smoke, you will create unhealthy consequences.

Another type of wrong view is to believe that there is no way to improve yourself and overcome defects, so there is no need to work hard. This is wrong, because things don't stand still, fixed like they are built on concrete. Some people believe that there is no need to try to help or be kind to others, but should try to take advantage of people to benefit themselves as much as possible, as this will bring happiness to them. This is wrong, because it does not bring happiness. It creates contradiction, jealousy and anxiety about others stealing their property.

There are too many forms of false discrimination. It may be related to suffering and artificial suffering, for example. See if your child is poor. The wrong distinction is when you think, "It's all about me. It is a parent's fault. ”. That is the wrong distinction of cause and effect law. The problem does not arise or happens for one reason only. It happened because of the gathering of many causes, not just one cause. I can contribute, but not the only cause of problems. Sometimes, I am not even the cause, and my conclusion is that the cause is completely wrong. I was thinking of an example of a rather annoying person: he went to see a soccer game and his team lost. Then he believed that the reason his team lost was because he went to watch the match, so it was bad luck for them: "My team lost is my fault." This is ridiculous. That is the wrong distinction of cause and effect law.

Right Understanding

Righteousness is a prerequisite, and to get this, we need to learn about reality, causation, and so on. Just like the weather is affected by many conditions. In the same way, I should not see myself as God, and only need to do one thing to solve the problem my child is doing poorly. That is not the way.

Prajna wisdom requires common reason, intelligence and concentration to focus on the right distinction. To do this, we need to keep the precepts. This is how all elements fit together.

Thinking (Dynamic Force)

Once the distinction is useful, what is harmful, what is reality and not reality, intention or motivation will relate to the way of distinguishing the effect or the way you form. your ability or action, or attitude toward the incident. If I make a mistake, then the motivation in the wrong thought will follow, and when properly distinguished, the right motivation will follow.

Thinking Wrong

There are three main areas where thought or motivation in thought affects:

Sensory Pleasure

A kind of false motivation based on sensory pleasures, a desire and attachment to sensory objects, whether they are beautiful things, good music, good food, beautiful clothes, etc. My force intends to pursue desire, based on the false discrimination that these things are the most important. If there is a correct distinction, then we will be calm, it is a balanced mind, not attached to the objects of the senses.

An example is when you discriminate against doing what is important about what you eat and what you eat. We think that if we choose the right restaurant and eat the right food, we will be happy. If you distinguish it properly, you will find that it is not so important, but there are many other more important things in life, rather than what to eat or broadcast. My mind will be more relaxed and balanced.

Evil

The second motive or wrong thinking is malice, the intention to hurt others or harm them. For example, when someone does something wrong and you are angry, think they are bad and should be punished; That is the wrong distinction.

We have the wrong distinction that people never make mistakes, but that is absurd. I may be so angry that I want to hit someone, while if there is a proper distinction, I will be kind. It is a desire to help others and bring happiness to them, it includes both strength and forgiveness. If anyone does something wrong, you will realize it's natural, and won't keep it in your heart.

Cruel

The third type of wrong thinking is the mind that contains cruelty, which includes many different aspects:
  • Vulnerable - cruel, not compassionate, when I want to give others suffering and unhappiness. For example, I have a heart to distinguish other soccer supporters, saying that they are formidable and can fight with them, simply because they like the team.
  • Hate yourself - lack of love for yourself, destroying your own happiness, thinking you are a bad person, not worth being happy. We often do so by having unhealthy relationships, continuing bad habits, overeating, etc.
  • Funny fun - when I see or hear other people suffer, I cruelly rejoice. You think that someone is a bad person, and they are miserable, like the case of a politician that I don't like to be defeated. Here, we have the mind to make the mistake of saying that some people are bad people, deserve punishment and encounter risks, while others, especially for me, should be informed.

Chanh Tu Duy

Right thinking based on right distinction is non-violent, non-violent attitude. You will be mindful of not wanting to harm those who are suffering, not bothering or upset them. I will not be happy when they meet unfortunate things. Here, we also have compassion, when we hope for others to escape suffering and to create suffering, because we see that everyone is suffering, that no one wants to suffer, and no one is worthy of suffering. If people make mistakes, I will see that it is because of their ignorance, not their evil nature. The position of discernment and right intention will naturally lead to right speech and righteous karma.

Eight Harmony Elements Together

The eight elements of the monasteries are in harmony with each other:
  • Right understanding and righteous thinking will create the right foundation to practice, leading to the practice of right speech, righteousness and righteousness in a natural way. We will distinguish what is right, in terms of how our behavior will affect others, and want to help them, not to harm them.
  • On this basis, I will work hard to improve myself, develop good qualities, and not flirt with strange ideas about my body and emotions, etc. We will use concentration. to focus on the benefits, then thinking will become stronger. In this way all are correlated.
Although it is possible to present the three learned and righteous pathways in sequence, our ultimate goal is to be able to put everything into practice as a unified mass.

Summary

The senses always crave entertainment, since I just woke up in the morning, until I went to bed at night. Eyes looking for beautiful appearances, ears want to hear soft sounds, and mouths want to taste the delicious taste. Although the desire to enjoy pleasure is not something wrong, but if our life is only in this category, we will never be satisfied, and never be able to develop some concentration. .
The three classes of piracy learn gender, and help us to live the best way in every moment. Instead of just looking for pleasure for yourself, the righteous bowl provides us with a pattern to not only benefit ourselves, but also benefit others. When observing and understanding why right view is right and wrongness is wrong, why is righteousness useful and unrighteous, harmful, and so on, then behaving according to the right things, life itself dynamics will improve in a better way. We will get what we can call the "full life of a Buddhist". END=NAM MO SAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.28/2/2019.
