Fourteen Questions The Buddha Has Been Silent.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.

There are fourteen unidentified points ( lung-du ma-bstan-pa bcu-bzhi ), which are things that the Buddha did not give an answer to, when someone asked. Often these fourteen verses are called "fourteen questions Buddha kept silent."

Reason of the Mahayana

For those who believe in an "ego" or "self" ( bdag , Skt.  Atman ) and a truly visible, visible universe, the Buddha did not answer when they asked "I "Or" ego "and the universe is:
  • often,
  • impermanent, because they are dominated by raw impermanence when destroyed,
  • It is often just impermanent, implying that some of their beings and their environment like the Creator of Heaven and Heaven are often there, while all other things, such as his lighted things creating is impermanent and will end when they are destroyed,
  • It is not often not impermanent, because it is impossible to know this?
Is it "I" or "self" and the universe is:
  • limited,
  • infinite,
  • both finite and infinite, implying that the number of beings is infinite and the universe is finite.
  • not finite and not infinite, because it is impossible to know this?
The "I" or "self" of a Buddha:
  • continue to exist after his death,
  • does not continue to exist after his death,
  • while continuing to exist and continue not to exist, it means that the Buddha body does not continue to exist, and the life force (  srog ) continues to exist after his death,
  • Both are not?
The Buddha did not answer these questions, because there is no real "I" or "self", can be found in beings or a Buddha, and there is no real universe. things, can be found. Therefore, it is impossible to wonder whether such a thing is often impermanent, finite or infinite. It is like a question of rabbit horns, turtle feathers or chicken lips that are often permanent or only available for a while. If the Buddha says that the "me" and so on are often, these people will fall into the common sense. If you say they are impermanent, they will fall into the comments, because they don't understand your answer. So it is better not to give any answer.
For those who believe in a true body and vitality that can be found, the Buddha did not answer, when they asked themselves and life:
  • have the same entity,
  • Is there a completely separate and distinct entity?
For the same reason, he kept silent, because they would only misunderstand anything he said.

Explanation of Hinayana

Before that, there is a brief list of ten points is not defined appeared in the Pali Canon, the State Economic Cula Malunkya ( Sutta of Shorter (Instructions) to Malunkya,  Pali:  Cula-Malunkyovada Sutta , belongs to  China The Bible  ( The Collection of Middle-Length Discourses,  Pali:  Majjhima Nikaya )). In this sutta, the monk Malunkyaputta was distracted by speculation about the subject of metaphysics during meditation. To help him return to meditation, the Buddha was silent when Malunkyaputta asked questions about:
  • the universe is often,
  • the universe is impermanent,
  • finite universe,
  • infinite universe,
  • a Buddha will continue to exist after annihilation,
  • a Buddha does not exist after annihilation,
  • a Buddha has just continued to exist, and does not exist after the destruction,
  • a Buddha does not continue to exist, nor does it exist after the annihilation,
  • body and "ego" have the same entity,
  • body and "ego" are completely separate and distinct entities. END=NAM MO SAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH  CHAN TANH.GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.25/2/2019.
