Once upon a time when the Blessed One was in the Deer Park, the land of the Isipatana, near Benares, he taught the following five Bhikkhus:
- O monks!
- White Buddha, five respondents.
Then the Buddha taught:
- O Bhikkhus, rupa (body, body, body) is not self (anattā, without a soul). O bhikkhus, if rúpa is in the nature, so sharp does not suffer. This must be like this or that , and the same can happen. But because matter has no self, it has to suffer and there can not be a case. (The order must be like this, or so ) .
In the same way, feeling (vedana), thought (sanna), samkhara (consciousness) and consciousness (vinnana) are not self.
So, as Bhikkhu thinks, is this body permanent or impermanent?
- White gold, is impermanent (anicca).
- What is impermanent suffering or happiness?
- White gold is suffering.
- So, is it reasonable to think of what is impermanent, suffering and transient with the idea: this one of me, this is me, this is my self?
- The Blessed One, certainly not reasonable.
- In the same way, O Bhikkhus, feelings, thoughts, actions, awakening, are impermanent and suffering. So, is it reasonable to think of something impermanent, suffering and transient with the idea: this one of me, this is me, this is my self [5] ?
- Bach Duc Thien, certainly not reasonable.
- Thus, O Bhikkhus:
All past, present or future colors, in the interior or exterior, subtle or subtle, low or noble, far or near, must be perceived in its actual form - --- This is not mine, this is not me, this is not my self.
All feelings, perceptions, actions, awakening, past, present or future, interior or exterior, subtle or subtle, low or noble, far or near, must be perceived. in fact it's ---- This is not mine, this is not me, this is not my self.
Noble Disciple has thoroughly studied the dharma is so boring, life, thought, action, wake up, do not love what is not worthy of and because of the abolition, is liberated. Then the knowledge becomes clear ---- " I have been liberated ". He understands that the birth and death has come to an end, the virtuous life has been fulfilled, the things to be done have been fulfilled, no longer return to this state anymore.
The Buddha said so and the Bhikkhu to rejoice, praising his teachings.
When the Buddha finished the Dharma, the hearts of the five monks became completely pure, without any pollution.END=NAM MO SAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=THICH CHAN TANH.THE MIND OF ENLIGHTENMENT.VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=GOLDEN LOTUS MONASTERY=AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.30/7/2018.
