Lecture:
The Buddha asked the monk: "How long is human life?" Here, the Buddha deliberately put up a questioning. The Buddha originally did not need to ask others about this issue, nor did he know that it was necessary to ask the monks to get a clear answer. In fact, by knowing that no one knew how long human life could last, the Buddha intends to ask the monk: "How long is the life? How do you think people can live?" long?"
Answer, this Sa-Mon teacher told the Buddha: "Sir, in a few days. In a few days it is possible to die. Life is not very long!"
The Buddha taught, the Buddha said to this monk: "You don't understand the Tao. You still don't understand the Tao!"
The Buddha asked another Sa-mon: "How long is human life?" How long is human life?
In response, the monk told Bach: "Dear, about a meal." That is, in about the same amount of time as a meal, human life may be no more!
Buddha taught. The Buddha said to him: "You have not understood the Way." He still does not understand Dao!
The Buddha asked another Sa-mon: "How long is human life?" In how long does the human life end?
Answer, this Sa-Mon teacher replied to the Buddha: "Sir, in about a breath." Life of human beings only in one breath out!
The Buddha said, the Buddha said to the monk, "Heal! It is very good! You already understand the Tao." He understood the Dao already!
A long time ago, in India, there was a pagan devout king. The pagan religion often cultivates various types of asceticism; such as some people over the world (living the way of the cow), some people hold the world-dog (living the way of the dog), some people apply ashes all over their body, some people sleep with nails ... They cultivate the asceticism of the Du-sect, self-mortifying in all its forms. On the contrary, the Bhikkhu-khưu monks who follow the Buddha Dharma seem to be at ease, and they do not have to practice those austerities.
Therefore, the king asked the Buddha's disciples: "I believe that even though the pagan sect has cultivated so many ascetic things, they have not been able to eradicate lust." By the way, how can you eliminate negativity and lust? Surely the teachers cannot eliminate it! "
There was a Dharma teacher who replied to the king, "Please, Father, please call a prisoner with a death sentence still imprisoned in prison, and say," I will give you a bowl of oil. You must carry this oil bowl with your hands and walk on the street. While going like that, if you disturb a drop of oil from the bowl, I will bring you to death; and if your house does not spill a drop of oil, then when you return, I will forgive you and you will be released. "After that, Majesty will send some beauties to sing on the road. but the bastard will have to go through. Wait until the guilty prisoner is gone all the way, and look at his bowl of oil. If the oil falls, of course he must be However, if a drop of oil doesn't fall, then His Majesty asks him what he saw along the way, see how he answers. "
The king followed exactly that. The king called for a prisoner who was sentenced to death and transmitted: "Today you should have been executed, but now I give you a chance to escape the death. How? and you shall give you a bowl of oil, and you shall carry the oil in your hand, and walk through the street, and if you don't let a drop of oil come out, when you return, you will be excused from death. As you spill even a drop of oil, when you return, Tram will follow your previous sentence and execute you! So go ahead and try it! "
The prisoner followed the king's order. After he went all the way and returned, his oil bowl was still intact, not dropping a drop!
The king asked, "When you go on the street, what did you see?"
The death row man replied, "I see nothing but this oil bowl! Every moment I worry about watching the oil bowl, keeping the oil from sticking out. Except for the oil in this bowl, I don't see and didn't hear anything either. "
The king asked the Dharma master: "What does that mean?"
The monk replied, "Such a prisoner is like a monk - because they realize that samsara is great, it is the most important issue, so they do not have time to rejoice in sexuality. just think of life and death, similar to that death row inmate - if he carelessly compared to a drop of oil or a bit of negativity, he must die. How can they eradicate lust? Because they consider the matter of samsara to be a great matter! knowing that birth and death are a great thing, therefore, they do not eliminate sexuality. "
Why do you cultivate the Tao but not eradicate the lust? Because you are not truly aware that the impermanence of samsara will happen. If you know the imperative nature of impermanence for the matter of birth and death, you will not have time to start delusions about sexuality and also no time to birth negativity on that matter!
