Meaning of Buddha's Day in Nirvana.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.
On the full moon day of February in 544 B.C.E., the Buddha Shakyamuni entered Nirvana. At that moment, the ground shook violently. God, people, all things were horrible and terrifying. Devas of Heaven in the middle of nowhere spread flowers like snow to make offerings to the Tathagata. Flowers cover a large area. Nowadays, every year, every year, on the full moon day of the second month of the lunar calendar, the Buddha's children sincerely commemorate the day of the Buddha's Buddhist monk Tu Shakyamuni entering Nirvana.
I. History of Nirvana Buddha (Refer to General Buddhism, Buddhist Church Thich Thien Hoa)
From the time of enlightenment under the Bodhi tree until the day of death, over a period of 49 years, the Buddha traveled across vast and vast India, country after country. Wherever his feet come is the golden light of the Dao, which will shine in splendor. Wherever the Golden Dao light came, heresy and paganism retreated further away, vanishing like clouds, like shadows, vanishing before dawn was rising. His sermon voice is as powerful as the roaring of a lion, making animals terrified, like the sound of the tide rising, overwhelming all the sounds of insects and birds.
Since then, Bodhi has deeply rooted in the great country of India, and has become a major religion of countries large and small at that time in India. The Buddha, after self-enlightening, was enlightened and until his enlightenment was full, Buddha was 80 years old. At this point, his four-element body also follows the law of impermanence that changes, weakness and old age. That year, he entered Sa La forest in the land of Cau Ly, about 129 miles from Ba La Nai city.
One day, He called Mr. Ananda and said, "Nan! Dao Ta is now full. As the old vow, now I have all four classes of disciples: Bhikshu, Bhikshuni, Uu Ba Tac and Uu Ba Di. Many disciples can change the vehicle of the Dharma in place of Me, and Dao has also spread everywhere. Now I can leave you and go. My body, according to the law of impermanence, is now like an worn out carriage. I borrowed it to transport the Dharma that has spread everywhere, so what do I regret to do in this emaciated body? A Nan! In three months I will enter Nirvana ”.
The faith of the Buddha was about to enter Nirvana, spread like a thunderbolt. His disciples went on missions in remote places and kept returning to the Enlightened One to separate them for the last time.
During the last three months, the Buddha still did not rest, but continued to preach. One day, he gave a lecture across a forest and met a coal-burning man, Mr. Thuan Da, invited him home to eat his son. He was silent with his disciples following him. At home, Mr. Thuan Da offered to offer him a bowl of mushroom porridge.
Having completed the fertility, the Buddha and his disciples said goodbye to Mr. Thuan Da. After a distance, he handed over the bowl to Mr. Nan and hung up the hammock in the Sa La forest so that he could rest. He lay down in the hammock between the two Sa La trees, his head returned to the North, we leaned toward his right hand, his face turned toward the sunset, his legs crossed.
Hearing the news that he was about to enter Nirvana, people around the area came to pay homage to a great deal, among them an old man over eighty years old, named Tu Bat Da La, came to ask for ordination. He gladly accepted the invitation. That was the last disciple in his life.
At that time his disciples were all present, except for Mr. Ca Lettuce because he had to lecture far away, could not return in time. He gathered all his disciples and followers to come around him and gave one last advice. He blessed the following:
· Y, His bowl will transmit to Mr. Ma Ha Ca Lettuce.
· Disciples must take the precepts as teachers.
· At the beginning of the Sutras, to state the words: "As thi ego van".
His relics will be divided into 3 parts: one for the celestial palace, one part for the dragon palace, one part divided by the eight monarchs in India.
Here are His blessings left in the last hour: “Hey! You must light your own torches! You take My Fa as torches! Follow My Dharma and free yourself! Do not seek liberation in anyone else, do not seek liberation anywhere else, except you! "
“Hey! Do not lust but forget what I told you. Everything in life is not valuable. The body will disintegrate. Only My religion is precious. Only the Truth of My religion is immovable, immovable. Work hard to be free, my dear people! ”.
After completing the detailed instructions, he entered samadhi and then entered Nirvana. At that time it was the full moon day of the second month of the lunar calendar. Sa La forest poured flowers to cover his body, the sky and the earth were overcast, the trees were withered, the birds sang silently, everything seemed to sink in the heavy moments of separation. The disciples buried his body in a coffin and seven days later brought his body to Cau Thi citadel to be at Thien Quang pagoda and performed cremation (cremation).
The eight great kings in India pulled heroic soldiers to attempt to contend for relics. But Mr. Huong Tich followed the Buddha's will, negotiated, and thanks to that, the division of relics was all right.
The Buddha entered Nirvana, but the example of His life still shines brightly before our eyes. During the 49 years of propagating the Dharma, at no time did he neglect his ultimate goal of transforming sentient beings in the sinking of suffering. While in the house, He was in a position of the most blessed and highest in the world, yet He still did not care about it; When he entered the religion, he was in the towering position of the Dao, yet he still refused to stay in that position, and struggled to walk on all dusty, thorny paths to lead sentient beings. up the path of happiness, joy and complete liberation. Buddha's love is immeasurable, Buddha's grace is boundless.

II. The meaning of the day Buddha entered Nirvana
The Buddha entered Nirvana for nearly 26 centuries, but his vestiges are still imprinted in the mind of all the Buddha in particular and the entire human race in the world in general because of the benefits he has brought. for beings too great and great. It can be said that the peace of the world is indispensable for the contribution of Buddhism, the happiness and well-being of all beings in the universe could not have been without his teachings. Every year until the full moon day of February, Buddhists from all over the world sincerely celebrate the death anniversary of the Father. The celebration is aimed at reiterating and praising the Buddha's merit as well as the spiritual aspirations. This enables us to follow His example,
1. The body of the five aggregates is not stable
Whenever there is birth there is death. It is the inevitable impermanence of life that even the Buddha's five aggregates must obey this law, let alone the impure five aggregates of ordinary people. If one clings to the body of the five aggregates, the ego will suffer from the brain. If we let go of them, they will be happy and happy, as the spirit of the Heart Sutra taught: "The Five Aggregates cannot go through all suffering.
In fact, if someone looks at the Buddha through the form of Prince Siddhartha, he sees the Buddha's birth and death, birth with Nirvana. If anyone looks at the body of the Buddha through the Dharmakaya, it is clear that he has no arising and passing away. In the Vajrayana Sutta, the Buddha teaches that if one looks at the Buddha through 32 good and 80 beauty forms, he will never see the Buddha, but must look through the Dharmakaya to see the Buddha. In the Nikaya sutras, the Buddha also teaches that: "whoever sees conditions arise is to see the Dharma, whoever sees the Dhamma sees the Buddha" (Central Sutra I, No. 28; Samyutta III, p. 144 and Sub-Department I, p. 48) .
2. Buddha's compassion is immense and vast :
Although the body was sick, the Buddha accepted the monastic order for his last disciple, Mr. Tu Bat Da La. After that, the Buddha repeatedly asked his disciples if there were any more questions to ask for the Buddha to explain. This shows that the Buddha's kindness is immensely great, though suffering from physical pain, but always worried about everyone. Looking at this point we learn from Buddha two things. One is to generate compassion for living beings in all circumstances. Indeed, kindness is indispensable for a practitioner of Buddha. It is also because of the kindness that during the 49 years of propagating the Dharma, the Buddha at no time neglected the ultimate goal of transforming sentient beings in the bath of suffering. The second is to know how to control the body and mind so that the body is sick, the body is in pain, but the mind is still at peace. If we practice meditation, we will see that mentality (mind) and rupa (body) are two distinct parts. If we can separate nama and rupa, when the body is sick, the mind will not be sick. Those are the messages that the Buddha wanted to send to the next generation.
3. Proud to be Buddha's children because no teacher would give up his life in a gentle and beautiful way like Buddha. He entered the First Jhana, then the Second Jhana, the Tam Jhana, the Four Jhāna, the Infinite Origin concentration, the boundless Consciousness, the Non-Possessive Concentration, the Non-Conscious Non-Consciousness. After that, starting in reverse, that is, from Phi Chiang Phi Phi Chiang, down to First Jhana. Then he went from the First Jhana to the Four Jhana and then the Buddha entered Nirvana. Thus, although he was about to give up his life, he still entered in and out of meditation by himself. He was not drowned in samsara, but he was riding the wave of samsara. As a Buddha we must understand this point. Even though we do not go in and out of meditation like the Buddha, we must try to learn Buddha in self-existence in samsara, do not allow samsara to drown.
4. Good example for life :
No matter what angle we look at the Buddha, the Dharmakaya or the Five Aggregates of the Five Aggregates, whether or not to pass away, during the 49 years of tireless teaching of the Dharma, he is still a shining example of compassion and mind wisdom for life. His sublime sacrifice, great compassion, lucid wisdom, and strong will are not only a shining example for Buddha's disciples but also for everyone. Those who want real peace in this life and liberation in the next must follow His teachings. That is the Path of the Eightfold Path, the Path of Precepts and Wisdom. If you cultivate like Buddha, you will become a Buddha. Have we ever wondered if we cultivate like Buddha? Buddha gave up everything, but did I give up or was attached to too many things in the world.
5. Implementation of the vice
The Buddha's deep grace is not easy to repay, only ordained standing in the ranks of the Sangha, diligent in studying as his obedience wishes to partially repay this grace.
Always keep in mind the last teachings of the Buddha that you must take the precepts as your teacher, light your own torch, take the Buddha's Dharma as a torch, follow the Buddha's Dharma and free yourself, don't seek liberation. In someone else, do not seek liberation somewhere else, except yourself, everything in life is not precious, the body will disintegrate, only Buddhism is precious, only the truth of Buddhism is immovable, immovable, work hard to be free.
In short, the anniversary of the Buddha's death in Nirvana is intended to celebrate the great merit of the Enlightened One. Thereby encouraging the Buddha's children to learn from his example, to fulfill his blessings for self-reliance and forgiveness. Although the Buddha passed away nearly 26 centuries ago, but his Dharma and Sangha are still there. If anyone follows the path he taught and diligently learns according to the Buddha's Dharma, he can also see the Buddha.END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.28/3/2021.
