Chapter IX-b
At the Buddha near Nirvana (tt)
-ooOoo-
(continued Section IX-a )
Last day
K ế that Buddha itself a pilgrimage to the land of the Mallas, the home of a tribal warrior caste, at the foot of the Himalayan mountains (Himalayas). At that time, it seemed as if the border of Mallas was not far from Savatthi; So news that the ancient Sariputta (Sàrìputta) has passed away in the city has been spread to the Buddha.
And in the land of Mallas, a territory adjacent to the Sakyans of the Buddha, whose master fell seriously ill, after eating a "mushroom dish", by the silverman Cunda dedicates.
It is clear when the Buddha saw the "mushroom dish", he told Cunda only to give him alone, not to distribute to the monks, he advised Cunda to offer them other items. Having eaten the Buddha's teachings, Cunda immediately brought the rest of his food to bury him, as only a Buddha could digest such food.
According to other sources, the food that Cunda offered to the Buddha is not mushroom, but a food reserved for hunters to sell. In the last days of the Buddha, or you can read the essay by Arthur Waley, also wrote on the subject, based on Chinese sources. Especially the articles he wrote about the "Last Shade" of the Buddha, and some articles he wrote about glorifying the Buddha into Nirvana.
However, according to what documents, we also have a common point: It is a very poisonous food that the Buddha had to teach Cunda absolutely not bring to anyone else. He avoids the danger of life. And he himself, because he was about to enter Nirvana, does not matter to him.
On the second illness, the Buddha suffered severe diarrhea. Despite the growing toxicity of the poison, the mind of a Buddha is too strong. He is calm, calm, and clever on his journey.
It was not as if they were witnessing the sick body that made the Buddha suffer, but they were witnessing the sublime gestures of a direct Buddha, observing the suffering in his body, as if observing something "trivial", "alien", has nothing to do with him. What an extraordinary act!
At that time the body of the Buddha was very weak and the words were very small. He told Ananda Meditation to lay him down and find his drinking water. But Ananda waited for a river to find more water, but the water in the nearby stream was chilled, by a fleet of five hundred new cattle crossing.
When the Buddha told the third time, the Buddha obeyed. In the end, he had to take the bowl to the side of the stream, the strange water that became transparent. A Nan is extremely emotional, rush to water up the Buddha. And he suddenly remembered that this was not the first time he witnessed such a miracle, but before long he used to chisel in a well, bringing water to the Buddha.
One day the Buddha met the Prince of Mallas named Pukkasa, an apostle of the patriarch Alára Kàlàma (one of the six strongest schools of that time). He had studied with Alāra Kālāma before for fifteen years.
As soon as he saw the Buddha, Prince Pukkusa opened the story with praises:
- What a surprise! It is admirable that the pure and noble of the gurus have left home; happy life happily.
Then the Prince continued:
- The master of the sutra (referring to Alāra Kālāmaara) once did so firmly that he could not hear the five hundred chariots passing by, which could awaken a sleeping person. to wake up
Knowing Prince Prince Pukkusa has the charm to be approached, so after listening to the Buddha asked:
- Hey Pukkusa! If the comparison between the concentration of Alāra Kàlàma with the concentration of a meditation subjects in the thunderstorms thunder storms, the wind rolling trees, water drifting like waterfall, the entry of which is harder?
- Bach Duc Gadam! The strength of the subject of meditation is harder to do.
That new Buddha, not to let Prince Pukkusa hear, but also to all the disciples know: He has many times in the storm, thunder like that! Especially the Buddha also added that: When he spent his Zen meditation or many cattle, livestock, and unhappy country people were killed by thunder.
Pukkusa, who was a very strong believer in the power, used the technique of "meditation" as a result. The Prince automatically asked for refuge and affirmed Buddhism as the surest path to take. This is the last disciple of the Buddha.
Prince Pukkusa then offered to the golden Buddha goddess. The Buddha accepted one and told him to give the other leaves to Ananda. When receiving his leaves, randomly looking at the Buddha's body, he saw the color of the Buddha's Daughter suddenly bright, he was surprised, he said:
- The Blessed One! Strange stars too! The skin of the Buddha is very shiny, can be said is even more beautiful yellow leaves.
The Buddha replied slowly:
- Ananda! There are two cases where the appearance of a Buddha is suddenly shining brightly. That is when the Buddha was enlightened and when he was about to enter Nirvana. In case the second Tathagata will fall into the night tomorrow.
Ananda heard the Buddha declared that he fell from his limbs. Because throughout that day, and all day before Buddha in the state of illness, but the Buddha always refreshed, crystal brother. Buddha told the French to hear this, he came forward to other people, so A Nan Da hope, because of compassion Buddha also prolonged life.
Now listening to the Buddha before entering Nirvana, he panic. Azan automatically blamed the Cunda silverman who had inadvertently offered monotonous food to the Buddha.
The Buddha knew that, after he had found a bathing water bath, he returned to Ananda and said,
- Ananda! You should not blame the Cunda! Especially do not misunderstand the Buddha just because he had a meal of his benefactor. In fact: There are two most precious offerings, the first offering when the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, and the last offerings before the Buddha entered Nirvana. Cunda by virtue of offering that he will be extended life, wealth and the name will also increase. And at the end of his life, he will reap the fruits of rebirth in heaven.
The fifth part of the Nirvana Sutra starts with the Buddha asking Ananda to take him to Kusinara, in the park of King Mallas. When he came to the place where the Buddha told Ananda to lift him lying on a stone slab, turning his head to the north, between the two trees of Long Long Tho Giao. Although it was not the flowering season, the Nagarjuna buddhas suddenly appeared, blossomed, and spread the number of stigmas on the Buddha's body.
Manuscripts: Mandarava flowers are also naturally fallen from the air, intermingled with flowers Longevity Song, carrying heavenly fragrance and music.
A Japanese scholar, DT SUZUKI has compared the serene, supernatural image of the last moments of the life of a Buddha with the last of the Lord Jesus, which made everyone realize that: In both cases, the two Teachers have left a good example for later generations to believe in them.
An enraged, the Buddha immediately joined and neighboring disciples took turns for the Buddha. When Upavana stood up as a fan, the Buddha suddenly taught:
- Hey! The offerings of servants, by music, by scent, by corolla, or by whatever precious things in the world to the Tathagata, nor by offering by virtue of practicing the right teaching. liberation that Tathagata taught! It means that any subject living in accordance with the noble way of the Buddha is Said that I offer it honestly.
The Buddha told Elder Upavana to stand aside. Ananda was surprised, the Buddha asked the reason, then the Buddha answered that:
- Ananda! Because there are innumerable devas coming from the four directions of the eight directions to fully comprehend the Chief of the Right Enlightenment. But Upavana was in front of the Tathagata Buddha, and the mind of this monk reduced the aura of the gods so they dared not come near to worship. So the new Tathagata asked him to stand aside!
Although A Nan Da is sad, but heard the gods (invisible) to visit immediately experienced, curious asked the Buddha about them, is also described by the Buddha:
- Ananda! Those gods, who have sex education, weeping mournful, said that the Buddha has appeared in the world for 45 years, but now they were first seen body humiliation, and also times Finally! And the devas who come from the two realms of samsara and non-samsara, the spirit is more pure, but the nostalgia is about to lose a Buddha, they can not hide.
The Buddha; Heard the gods discuss with each other that after the fullness of consciousness, then each day (equivalent to 100 years of the world), from heaven they will go down to human habitation to worship places related to Buddha, once, Buddha told Ananda:
- Ananda! There are four motifs, which represent the image of Sakyamuni Buddha:
1. Place of birth, in the garden of Lumbini (near the Shrine: Sàvatthi).2. Location of the city, snow forest near Uruvela (near Ni Lien).3. First Dhamma Place (Dhammapada) in Lahu Garden, near Benares.4. And the place of Nirvana, (in the garden of Longmang Mallas near Kusinàrà).
Later, if there are good people, remember the Buddha, they are looking to worship one of four (or all four) this place. And the blessing of that devotion will bring sincerity, after the end of life, to be born into heaven. Especially those who travel far away to the relics will enjoy the blessings of money: healthy body, disease eliminated.
It is remarkable that all four of these holy places are located in a garden, by the forest, near the city, not in the city. Allowing future pilgrims to visit the "vestiges" of the Buddha in the pure places (near the forest), and easy to access (near the city).
At that time Nan Nan as a memory remember something sadly asked the Buddha:
'The Blessed One! After the Buddha, how does a bhikkhu monk treat the female disciples?
- Ananda! Tathagata taught him that. ( Please read the previous chapter, chapter 5) .
Ananda tears back tears:
- Lord Buddha! But when the Master has purified Nirvana, how will the disciples guard his body?
- Ananda! It is the duty of the lay people, the kings. The duty of bhikkhu monks is to be diligent development of spirituality, no rot on the path of liberation.
Ananda pleaded:
- The Blessed One! But they would like to know the Buddha's will of the funeral of the Chief of the Transfiguration.
The light on the Buddha suddenly bright, then He answered:
- Ananda! The body of a Transfiguration Chief will be cremated according to the ceremony. Ashes and relics as well as relics will be divided by the kings to build worship tower.
- Ananda! There are four classes of people in the world deserving of the divine and humanity to protect the remains of the stupas (cetiyas): the Sambuddha, the Paccekabuddha, the Arahatta, and the Holy Wheel King (Cakkavatti Ràjà). Whoever has the grace of worshiping the remains of the four classes will be immeasurable.
(Enlightenment Words, Right Enlightenment, Enlightenment, Enlightenment, Enlightenment, Enlightenment, Enlightenment, Enlightenment, Enlightenment, Enlightenment, Enlightenment, Enlightenment, Enlightenment The Buddha, the Sun etc. .. only to refer to the Buddha Shakyamuni, ie a Buddha, from countless hours as Bodhisattvas, have been happy to bring lifelong teachings).
The title Indochina refers to a degree of Liberation has self-tuition, self-sufficiency, last life does not need to hear anyone's law and also teach the French to others.
Arhat is often known as the Buddha, ie the disciples have attained the non-reincarnation (no longer reincarnate), of a Buddha.
All three types of titles mentioned above are for the family escapes, impermanent Impermanence, Liberation. Particularly the name of Chuy? Ng Vương, the name refers to a sage living in the palace of emerald.
He is an immeasurable emperor, he is good to the people, and he constantly promotes good in the country as well as abroad. The Most Venerable Monks have attained enlightenment, since Sotàpattimagga or higher.
According to the ancient Indian custom, the great men after the eyes closed, their remains are often worshiped in the graves (Stupas), or in the stupas (Cetiyas).
Particularly for the Holy Wheel King, the remains are also reassured with precious objects, and at the top of the tower there is always a parasol.
The relics of the Buddha are the relics, and today Buddhists can visit the relics of the great shrines or the central monasteries in Buddhist countries.
Then Ananda because of the oversize brain, stepped behind the Buddha lying, holding a pillar, mourning mourning. An Nan cried because he knew that Arhat was not attained, his heart was lustful, but the Master, the only one who could help him cross the sea, was about to enter Nirvana.
With a little more psychological fluency, A Nan Da is sure to ask: "What is the result of 25 years for the Buddha so?"
An image of Ananda crying, often later depicted in the art of painting, or in the sculptures of Buddhist culture, at historical centers of worship, made the researchers The international image of Jésus Christe's apostles slumped over the head of the cross, about 600 years after the Buddha.
The Buddha did not see Ananda next door, he asked the reason, then let him call him to teach that:
- Ananda! Do not be sad! As Lai has taught him many times already: Everything is impermanent. Is there anything that has been born, changed over time, without a decaying day?
- Ananda! The virtue of his Buddha since 25 years, which is fun, simple, sensitive and serious. With a devoted service to the Buddha, by action, by word, as well as by thought, he has created for himself an immeasurable virtue, greater than anyone in the teachings of the Tathagata. Why do not you remember these merits to be satisfied, in order to believe the deliverance will come in this life.
- Ananda! As Lai advised him to be a little more diligent, the pollen in his mind will be cleaned.
Then, in order to increase the faith in the merits of Ananda, the Buddha recounted in a past life, when the Bodhisattva of the Buddha's pre-veneration had been venerated by the Buddha, the predecessor of A It was also claimed that he would attain liberation in the teachings of the future Buddha (Jataka 307). This is the first prediction. And now, before entering Nirvana, the Buddha predicts "A Nanavana will Liberate" a second time.
After the consolation and encouragement of the Ananda Da, the Buddha turned to the monks, and once again the Buddha gave the praises related to Ananda:
- It is not only the Tathagata that has a worthy follower, but also the Buddhas in the past, and the Buddhas in the future, also have such disciples. The cardinal point of Nan Buddhists is also very admirable. Each time they rise to hear him say that every time they are happy, and they want to hear him speak more French. Ananda is a monk whose goodness has reached to the level of unparalleled!Apart from him, only one of them was so prestigious.
Not only in the Nirvana Sutra but in other suttas, we also see the way of encouraging and teaching the Ananda of the Buddha: On the one hand, the Blessed One praises the true nature of Ananda in front of the Increase them, especially those who love him. On the other hand, Buddha reminded him to try to eliminate the last defilements.
Renowned by the Master such as the mind of Ananda. It flashed a hope: He suggested that the Buddha should not be killed in the garden Mallas, under two trees Longevity, which he should move to the Nietzsche Tables in a bigger capital, like Sàvatthy, Raikage, Kosambi or Brennas!
Kapilavatthu, the capital of the Buddha, is the closest place to Mallas, but Ananda does not suggest that the capital has recently been invaded, looted and burned. by a son of King Pasenady.
Another capital, Vesaly, is not mentioned, because before long the Buddha had declared that he would not return to this city.
Varanasi recommended that the Buddha should enter Nirvana in a large city, because he thought that there may be more celebrated Spirits and the number of people to attend the last good Buddha. will be more crowded.
But the Buddha lying still in his bed about to fall, understand his depth, has explained to Ananda full of reasons and why he chose Kusinara as the last resting place.
After Ananda Da listened to the Buddha's teachings, he knew where the Buddha was located, preparing to be eliminated, the most fertile place of the Buddha, in an ancient existence, requested to be a Holy King Named after Maha Sudassana, the grace of ruling this area, making the emperor happy, happy once.
The Buddha's reincarnation at the end of his life has been reincarnated as the Holy Wheel of Kings at least six times, and this last death he passed away here is the seventh.
While the material and splendor of the ancient kingdom has now disappeared, disappeared and became zero. But for a certain level of knowledge of the past, the future still has its meaning and historical value. On the other hand, according to the Dharma of the Buddhas, it is also a place to prove the truth of impermanence: a kingdom which has been prospered through the virtue of the Dharma healing to the six life cycles of the Holy King, but also So let's try to ask the society just to do good year, a year or a generation, where to rely on to be able to drift, your blessing will not be wasted?
In Theragatha there is a famous verse about the ancient kingdom as follows:
'Happy is he who is good!
But because of the reunion, the dissolution of all
things, the capital to the capital to decay.
Even the saintly dharma has days to disappear, Loss,
failure, failure, material illusion,
With time, all just fleeting.
End of the birth of the prison, the
center of ecstasy is the mind outside the animal.- Exit according to number 1159 in Theragatha. The content of the above verse is also described in the prose in the Dhamma School (Digha Nikàya 16.6,17), Samyutta Nikàya 15-20 / S: 1.11 / S: 6.15 / S : 9.6) and the birth of story (Jàtaka 307) .
The story of King Mahak Sudassana (Buddha foretell) can be considered as the last story that Buddha told Ananda.
The Blessed One then told Ananda that the Buddha was about to enter Nirvana and invited the Mallas in the city of Kusinara, so that they could worship the Buddha at last.
Among those who visited the Buddha, there was a paratrooper named Subhadda, who stopped at Kusinara, and heard the news of Nirvana. He also visited.
Subhadda had a difficult problem in his mind, so he said: "It is very difficult to meet a Buddha, so we should quickly bring this mystery to Buddha, thanks to him, that delay will be late. .
When Subhadda asked Ananda to let him approach the Buddha, Ananda refused, saying: "Let the Blessed One rest, no one is disturbed." Nanda denied it three times, knowing that his actions were contrary to the Buddha's compassion.
The Buddha told A Nan to refuse third time like that, then taught:
- Ananda! Please let Subhadda come near me, because he has a problem in the mind, which can not be relieved. He came to seek the light, not to disturb the Tathagata. "
Subhadda extremely happy, straight forward, clasped hands, white with the Buddha that:
- Madam Dam. There is a problem that this inquirer constantly wonders: how can we recognize the truth, when present-day preachers preach opposites, which arguments they hear throughout?
The purified Buddha replied:
- Hey Subhadda! Listen to the teachings of the Tathagata, and he will be clear: When a noble action person, especially living in the Noble Eightfold Path, he will personally recognize the teachings of the retreat, find themselves four good fruits of step out Then when a monk is more diligent in virtue, they more clearly see the Holy fruit gradually.
- Hey Subhadda! Nhu Lai has given blessing in the world for forty-five years, this is the first time he has heard! And beyond that he could not find the truth elsewhere.
The brief teachings of the Buddha, enough for Subhadda, (as in the case of Prince Pukkasa), to receive the Dharma deeply, Subhadda, then sought refuge in the Buddha, and volunteered to join the clergy community. But according to the rules that the Buddha had prescribed: A Buddhist monk who wanted to join Buddhism had to "try" in four months. During this time, if they change their minds, they can return to their old sects.
Subhadda immediately obeyed. He said: "... If Buddha told him to train for four years, then be officially admitted to the Church, he is also willing to do."
With that determination, the Buddha allowed Subhadda to take refuge, and this was the last disciple of the Universal Enlightenment. It is commendable that this last disciple, soon after, attained the Arahatta.
The sixth (and last part) of the Nibbàna contains the ultimate teachings of the Buddha. We can list as follows:
First, bhikkhus should not think: After the Blessed One, the community of disciples will no longer be the teacher. Because the whole sutta and the law of the Master left, it is the Scouting norm, considered as a teacher. What the Buddha has preached, or have prescribed to prevent the humanity of sinful nature, then will be the disciples of the religious grouped into text, systematic, to stabilize the foundation of Buddhist teachings for future generations.
Second, after the Buddha attains Nirvana, bhikkhus do not call each other in a disorderly manner: for example, they are not called each other by "virtue", but must respect the order, age, Calling each other with the words "Lord" and calling themselves "poor", if you are bigger or equal, you must call yourself a minor, if you are smaller. In Pali, a small Bhikkhu descends to call a great bhikkhu Bhante ("Lower" is a retreat, a senior unit in Buddhism).
This rule is preserved to this day, as a tradition symbolizing the harmony and respect of virtue in the clergy. An elder in Buddhism must always be exemplary. And the young monks are aware that "Respect for the well-respected members of the Church is respect for the Buddha."
Thirdly, the Buddha allows bhikkhus who, after his resurrection, to abolish minor laws that are less important, involve only etiquette and ritual in the past, but are no longer circulated. in later times. However, this cancellation must be decided by the General Assembly, and not by an individual.
The cancellation also does not reduce the effect of the major rules of religious life. If there are any guts, do not want to cancel the "small" rules but try to keep enough, then this subject does not sin against the Church.
Fourthly, the Buddha retains the final teachings to punish a bhikkhu who is more impoverished, for the authority of the Church. This is related to bhikkhu Channa, a stubborn monk who refuses to correct bad behavior. When Ananda asked the Buddha how to enforce the law, it was answered as follows:
- No one is exposed, talked, exhorted or taught Channa! Let him do what you do, and do not pay attention to him at all.
After that, Buddha also not forget to teach the basic methods, to foreign policy in the coming days, when he came in contact with all kinds of people. Then the Buddha turned to ask the whole disciples:
- Bhikkhus! So far, what questions do you have regarding the action and doctrine of the Enlightened One? Especially questions about the content and the intention of France. Question about Church organization? And above all, questions about the methods that you are using to gather? Four kinds of questions if he, if he should be released to be released, when the Tathagata is still alive, lest later you will regret when Tathagata has already Destined.
After the Buddha asked three times, and all his disciples were silent, Ananda said hurriedly:
- It is very good, Bhikkhu Sang here no one questions anything.
The Buddha immediately corrected his words:
- Ananda! When he uttered that, he was sure there were not really any bhikkhu there yet. You should know that there are many possible questions that a bhikkhu does not want to say! Or there may be too many questions that they do not know which problem to raise before?
The teachings of the Buddha to Ananda proved that he knew the well-being of the five hundred disciples who were there, only a minority of Siddhartha's followers came up, no doubt. in Buddhism. But more than half of the remaining, Devotion has not yet bloomed! And his teachings are also a reminder to Ananda that they should not use their usual speculation based on the outside, but rather determine the level of understanding of the Sangha community.
Then one last time, the Buddha turned to five hundred disciples to say goodbye and blessing as follows:
- Now! Hey monks! Tathagata reiterated the last time that the nature of all things in shape is to be decayed, disintegrated. Please try to add up! Do not let the mind is obscured, covered, imprisoned by the body of the five aggregates.
After finishing the final words, the Buddha immediately entered: He began from the first meditation, the second meditation, the third meditation, the fourth meditation ... to meditate meditation. Just for a moment, the Buddha's mind has stood firmly in the stable of the Indigenous Peoples. He no longer has the concept, or sense of the five faculties and the world.
The Buddha resolved that over the course of the clock (about 2 hours), the energy of his body had not been interrupted, so he advanced to higher jhana dharmas, Borderless Country, then Boundless Country.
In the four Noble Meditation realms: When dwelling in the first two levels, the Buddha is no longer subtle Subtle, and when resting in the second level, the mind (or mind) automatically becomes immeasurable. Upper, and infinity, not only overcome the limit of the universe and the universe, but He also overcome the limitless universe.
While the Buddha was immersed in a sieve (bed made of stone), Ananda asked occasionally Anuruddha, his brother, and also a Zen master with a supreme power. Buddha, the Buddha has entered Nirvana? Ananda calls Anuruddha a bhante, even though the two brothers are ordained in one day.
Anuruddha was meditating, using the law to follow the Buddha. He sometimes meditates to inform the apostles about the mental state of the Master.
When Anuruddha heard Ananda asked, "Master! The Blessed One? ", He replied:
- This is Ananda! The mind of the Buddha is in the Meditation of the Inner Sphere, that is, the product of inborn results in him, while the new product has just "budding". That is, the Buddha is close to Nibbana, not the President.
Anuruddha responds like that, because he uses his maximal power. He can only "follow the Buddha" up to the eighth meditation and stop there, but can not go higher.
As for the Buddha, his entering into Nirvana is a miracle. Buddha does not force himself to die. He also did not intentionally prolong life. When the Buddha's mind passes the Three Noble Truths, up to the ninth jhāna, but the breath of the body is not extinguished, and some of the cells of the flesh are active, he returns to the first meditation plane, leaving them ( living cells) are balanced with the spirit that works. He then proceeded to the higher meditations, from the second, third, fourth, etc., to the point of entering Nirvana. So that the Buddha sequence, up and down, then down and up, waiting for the body in his body expired life, automatically terminated.
And when the final group of cells in the body of the Buddha ceased to function, the meditating of the Buddha's mind was in the fourth realm, he overcame the dust of samsara, advanced to the higher jhana, the sixth, the seventh , eighth, ninth, then Enter!
At last, Anuruddha also utilizes meditation according to the Buddha, for information duty. But when he reached the end of the eighth meditation, he no longer touched the Buddha's aura. Anuruddha carefully returned to the lower jhana to "heart" the Buddha, but wherever he was, he knew for sure that the Master had attained Nirvana.
At that time, the full moon day of the lunar month! The late-night moon was set in the West.
When the whole body of Buddha actually stopped working ... suddenly the earth trembled, the atmosphere moving, thunder floating in the air. Just as the prophet's prophecy!
Brahma Sahamati, who achieved the result that Not Lai that is also the god asked the Buddha sermon for the first time in the world (45 years ago) appears immediately to the Buddha by the verse:
"The law of impermanence dominates everything,
even a Buddha is inevitable ."
The goddess Sakyamuni also appears and repeats the meaning of a sentence that the Buddha had heard that:
'Death is ephemeral, birth
still, death, meteorology '.
The god of the gods, who was a fruitive, had attained the fruit of the Stream, so he memorized many Buddhist scriptures.
The third person to offer the Buddha is Anuruddha. He dictated some verses as follows:
"Purification is the hour of Enlightenment,
the pure compassion of the unborn.
Joy, happiness is no longer,
Beyond the three worlds of Nibbana " .
But A Nan Da is grieving, complaining, said:
"When I lost the teacher, the
mundane mundane, this body is not charming."
Finally, the whole five hundred Bhikkhu Buddha disciples, because most have not yet achieved the results, the mind also contains a lot of love, craving, so they weep a lot, mourn the Buddha, What is Ananda?
Elder Anuruddha see that promptly advised, but Bhikkhu Sangha can not be sad. Anuruddha is a meditation teacher, so he saw that all the angels were mourning. He recalled the Buddha's teaching on the law of impermanence for the Sangha. To draw their attention, in order to relieve the pain, he also told the Sutras that there are many gods who are coming to worship the body of Buddha ...
That night Anuruddha talked non-stop with Phap Bao to everyone. For Ananda, for 45 years, living a monastic life, and having the same Master, he never had moments of "cordial conversation", as in this case. Ananda is indeed extremely distressed and needs his comfort, an intimate brother, but also a friar in his religious life.
When it was light in the morning, Anuruddha told Ananda to bring news of the Buddha who had attained nirvana, spreading among the Mallas. Between the precepts of the Buddha's great presence, Anuruddha is regarded as the chief, so naturally he has to shoulder the task of urging all things.
Then, Mallas people from Kusinàrà have brought all necessary supplies, to organize the Ceremonial Cremation Ceremony for the Buddha. They selected corolla, precious wood, fine linen and the finest carpets, for seven days. The tunes for the royal kings and the most important dances are also performed by the Buddha.
In addition, the Mallas people, while talking they only discussed with each other around the issues related to the Buddha only. For example, they said: "We admire the Buddha, must hold a cremation solemn. What sadness to regret? " Some people say, "During this spell, we have to offer incense with dancing, and pray with the dome, to express our respect." There are intellectuals who say: "The Buddha appeared in the world is to bring benefits to all beings! He has traveled all over India to give us the Dhamma Dhamma, and now he has left us, the exemplary Buddhist community, and the eight thousand four hundred Buddhist texts are precious. ''
On Saturday, they set up a fire to burn the Buddha.
At that time, Maha Kassapa, who was not present in the final journey of the Buddha, was suddenly inspired by the divine, leading a group of followers to the city of Kusinàrà. Meet a Taoist monk asking for information about the new Buddha or the Master who entered Nirvana 7 days ago.
Once again, people witnessed the rise of the colossus in the entourage of Mahesh Kashmiri began to weep, mourn the Buddha.
However, among these, a new bhikkhu ordained, the heart is not finished, do not want to enclose himself in the Buddhist precepts. He was very happy, declaring: "So from now on, no one will take care of them, we can do whatever we like. The Blessed One is a liberation for us! "
And the sign of declining Buddhism starts there as well. This bhikkhu is the symbol of the aspiration, of hatred and ignorance. That bhikkhu has been raised in the entourage of the Elder Mahatma Gandhi called "saboteurs" is not wrong!
When the king and all the people of Mallas were invited to burn a match on the stele of the body of the Buddha, they all went out, no one could fire. Anuruddha, who knew the cause, declared: "This phenomenon was prevented by the gods, because the cremation ceremony was presided over by the head of the Great Causea.
Anurudda said that the clouds soon enough, the influx of the Great Ca lettuce also came to the.Inducted into the monk Bhikkhu Drift around the body of the Buddha three rounds, the fire on fire.(The action surrounding the body of the three-round Buddha is a work that symbolizes the highest respect ever.)
When the last fire burns out, it is found that the body of the Buddha is transformed into white particles, with no ashes in the iron fountain containing Him.
When the kings of neighboring countries or believe the Buddha entered Nirvana, near the Kusinàrà.They immediately sent many messengers to share the remains (or relics) of the Buddha to bring back the church worship.
The Mallas tribe, for the reason that the Buddha had entered Nibbana in his territory, did not want to divide the relics to anyone else. His argument sparked a heated debate, which nearly led to war.
At that time there was a Brahman priest of the Brahmanical class, who said: "It is unreasonable to use the war to deal with the preservation of the remains of a fuller. Only know how to sow seeds of peace? The Prophet suggested that the relics should be divided into eight parts: seven sections for the messengers and one for the king Mallas.
Thanks to that the dispute has become soothing. And thanks to the refusal of the Brahman, Sultan Mallas gave him a stone vase, which was used for the relics of the Brahman before divide. The ashes of the firewood and incense burnt the Buddha, then was given to a late Buddhist class.
The result: ten later relics, ten stupas worship the remains of the Buddha. (ie the eight parts of the relics plus the ninth part is the vase and the tenth part is the ash of the precious wood).
