V. The exegesis of SUMANA Buddha.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.

Thus the whole world has been engulfed in darkness for a moment [239] at the time when Buddha Maṅgala entered Nibbana.
Thus the whole world has been engulfed in darkness for a moment[239] at the time Maṅgala Buddha entered Nibbana. After the Buddha the human life span gradually dwindled from ninety thousand years to only ten years, then gradually this life span increased between the lifetimes just as the life span extended from one Amharic. After life expectancy decreased again to only ninety thousand years,[240] There is a Bodhisattva named Sumana, who has completed the Paramita Dharma, he was born in the city of Tushita Heaven. Having passed away from that realm, he descended into the rebirth of a queen named Sirimā and joined the royal life of a king named Sudatta, in the city of Mekhala. There have been strange signs like the ones mentioned above[241] happening. Until his adulthood, he lived in three castles named Nārivaḍḍhana, Somavaḍḍhana and Iddhivaḍḍhana.[242], he had about eighty-three thousand dancers looking like the servants and with his servants, and he enjoyed the happiness of the place where he lived for a thousand years, he gave birth to an incomparable son named Anupama by Empress Vaṭamsikā.
After witnessing the four strange signs, he decided to become a monk on the back of an elephant. In that escape there were up to thirty thousand million sentient beings together who followed his example. Surrounded by a large entourage, he made an ascetic struggle for ten months. After having a feast of milk, which had a lot of magical nutrients imparting to him, Anupamā, the daughter of a merchant named Anupama, offered him on the full moon day of Visākha, right at Anoma town. . He spent a day in the forest of Sala. After receiving eight bundles of hay from Anupama, a hermit could offer him. He approached the Bodhi tree called Nāga and went around the tree, spreading hay in a thirty cubit-wide ground and meditating in the lotus position on that seat. Then, 154 ]  after having defeated the Ma-king army and understood omniscient, he made the following solemn statements:
Through so many lives reborn reincarnation ...
I have destroyed all craving. "
So some people say:
1. The next Buddha Maṅgala must mention the leader of Sumana, unrivaled compared to all things and higher than all beings in this world.
1. In this case  after Buddha Maṅgala  means the next after Buddha Maṅgala.
1.  Nothing can be compared to  mean that there is nothing comparable to him, unique in the Dharma, meditation and wisdom.
It is said that after spending seven weeks near the Bodhi tree and following the Brahma's request to explain the Buddha Dharma, Sumana Buddha thought. "To whom should I first explain the Dharma?" He saw thirty million million renunciants with him, including the little Saraṅa, the brother of his wife, and the son of a Brahmin monk, a young boy named Bhāvitatta who both gained special grace. Thinking, "We have to explain the Buddha Dharma to these people themselves," like a kind of royal red goose, he appeared at the Mekhala amusement park across the road along a mountain.[243] After transmitting to (the message) the guard of the entertainment place, he came to his brother-in-law, the little boy Saraṇa, and the brahmin's son, the Bhāvitatta boy, along with thirty-seven million million people surrounded them and thirty thousand million monks left with him himself plus a lot of other gods and sentient beings. So at the time of Zhuan Falun, he created hundreds of thousands of millions of people to taste the Dharma, so some people said:
V. 2. In the city of Mekhala, he also tapped the drum[244] immortal, accompanied by a prisoner and the Dharma and the nine-limb Dhamma of the Victory.
2. In this case, the  Immortal Drum  means the drum hit up to reach immortality, to enter Nibbana.
2.  He pats  means he closes. The meaning is: he taught the Buddha Dharma. This immortal drum is the word of the Buddha and the highest is immortal. So people talk about it like that:  accompanied by imprisonment and the Buddha Dharma, which is the teaching of the Nine-genera Dharma teaching.
2. At this point, accompanying  the prison and the Buddha Dharma  means accompanying what is known in the four principles of teaching the four truths of the Dharma.
And Sumana, the world leader, after having attained the ultimate Samyaksambuddha, continued on his way[245] It was as he had promised[246] to free sentient beings from the rebirths, to build a glorious immortal city as a guarantee (including) jewels, a skill against looting[247] due to plague afflictions[248]The vast walls are the moral precepts, the surrounding trenches are meditation, the entrance is the insight, the solid door is mindfulness and awareness, the hall and so on. Prince with meditation as well as sentient beings flooded the city with qualities beneficial to enlightenment.[249] Therefore it is said that:
155 ]  V 3. After being tame[250] be negativity he attained supreme Chief Justice Dang Giac. The master created a city, the magical city of Magical glory.[251]
3. Therefore,  after winning,  it means after defeating and after conquering. The meaning here is: after the complete destruction of Prince Ma[252] and the one who makes all disturbing emotions become effective.
3.  He  means Mr. Sumana. "After defeating the defilements"[253] is also a solution. Hi rhyme   here  is just a small phrase in the verse only.
3.  attainment  means that has been achieved; "Achievement"[254] is also an explanation
3.  City ( nagara) means City níp-table
3.  Glorious Dharma City of ultimate glory  means: among the glorious cities known as the Noble Dharma is supreme, best, exists as a basic principle. [255] Or the ultimate among glorious cities. Including the Noble City of the Noble Glory Magic. In other words, "city" is also simply understood as synonymous with the word pura[256] the city referred to here is Níp Ban in the sense that it is a resting place, a residence for the learned and uneducated people, and holy individuals who stand firm in understanding the nature. the basis of the Buddha Dharma. And in this glorious city of Dharma, the master built a righteous path, that is, those who recite the land, unbroken, devious, always openly and broadly. Therefore it is said that:
V. 4. He built a main street, continuously, without winding, widely and widely spread: the conception of the ultimate glory.
4. In this case,  continuously  means continuously from the moment of being ready to dive in to progress to the speed of citta[257].
4.  No winding bend  means not bending because there are no disadvantages that make the winding feature appear.
4.  Straightforward  means straightforward simply from zero winding. This is an expression, a simple explanation of the meaning of the words above.
4.  Spacious and wide  means to be spacious and spread out in length and width. Should be understood with regard to the breadth and depth of the mundane and supramundane concepts.
4.  Right  path means an immense way.
4.  The concept of the ultimate glory of land  means both the mindfulness of the land and the supreme dharma between the crowning of the ultimate glory, the thoughts of the ultimate glory. Or it also means that the recitation of the ultimate glory is the magnificent and magnificent road. Now on both sides of the road the mindfulness of those foundations in the great city of Nibbana, he has scattered precious treasures in Buddha Dharma,[258] four saints of Sa subjects[259] four wisdom[260] analysis. Six wins and eight meditation evidence[261] therefore it is said that:
V 5. In that street, he spread out the four fruits of Sa, the four analytical wisdom, six victories. Eight meditation evidence.
156 ]  The Buddha now says: "Those who have attained the jewels and possessions are those who are not easily carried, recited, have wisdom, lieutenant, and diligent, etc."; and showing the means to create these jewels, he said:
V 6. Those who appear not to be easy to bear, the mind not to be wandered, full with mourning and energy, they will attain whatever special grace of glory as they wish.
6. In this case  the guys (ye)  are an uncertain pronoun.
6.  Not easy to go through  means that the situation in contrast to the sloppy negligence appears in them a general not inseparable from mindfulness.
6.  Mind Without mental rigidity  means there are no five types of desolate mind.[262]
6. Full  with goodness and effort  goodness[263] means you are ashamed of your evil body and so on.[264] This is synonymous with humility. Effort is the status quo of someone who has shown to be full of energy[265]Characteristics proved to be positive. These individuals[266] be qualified to endure and gain this kind of energy and effort.
6.  These people (te): this  is an uncertain pronoun
6. What's more  these people (te)[267] it means that the sons of the aspiring families  acquire and attain  to progress toward distinguishing in that jewel special gifts in the aforementioned manner.
And the Buddha Sumana, with his mind he knew the mind of all beings, after having knocked out the Buddha Dharma and built the Buddha Dharma. Thanks to these methods, he first awakened one hundred thousand thousands of people, according to the account:
V 7. Thus, thanks to this dedicated application, the master helped sentient beings to overcome the confession, awakening first one hundred thousand thousand million beings and gods.
7.  In this regard, crossing over  means that he himself pulled them out of the ocean of samsara by means of the Holy Path.
7.  One hundred thousand thousand million : meaning: crores one hundred thousand [268] expressed in the opposite way to words.
And when Sumana, the world leader, had dispelled the pride and conceit of the non-Christian groups, he performed the Song of Wise at the mango tree in Sunandavatī. He caused thousands of millions of sentient beings to taste the Buddha Dharma. This is the second insight into the Fa conference. Therefore it is said that:
V8. At the time of the Second Dharma Interpretation, when the great hero encouraged the pagan groups, there were one thousand thousand million profound beings (Dharma).
8. In this case,  the pagan group  means the group has become the sects and[269] sectarian groups. Some explained: The Buddha interpreted the Buddha Dharma to appreciate the pagans. ”
And when the Buddhas of the Ten Great Gods, the World and the beings gathered in this world, they made a talk about cessation: how can they enter into this cessation? How to enter into this passing away
157 ]  How did they get out of death? It is indistinguishable between import, decision, and departure. vv .. The gods in the six realms of sex with humans and the Brahma in the nine realms, split into two camps. (both) are suspicious of each other. Therefore, in the afternoon, along with a king named Arindama, very popular with the people, they invited each other to meet Sumana, the Tathagata Tathagata, a protector of the world. When they decided to gather together, the Arindama king asked the Sumana Buddha a question about that passing away. Then, precisely because of the explanation of the Buddha's Question about passing away, there was a thorough understanding of the Dharma Assembly for about ninety thousand thousand million beings. This is the third insight into the Fa conference. So some people say:
V.  9. When humans and the gods, one heart and mind met Sumana together and posed a question of passing away and of doubt in the mind.
10. And then when he was interpreting the Dharma[270] about the clarification[271] die. There was a mastery of the Dharma Assembly[272] there are ninety thousand people back.
And Buddha Sumana has three disciples. During the first gathering after he spent the rainy season in the city of Mekhala, the Buddha participated in "the first four-self ceremony, he invited one thousand ten million Arhats to join the monks and nuns." The formula of "Thien Lai Bhikkhu khưu" is the formula inviting monks. This is the first gathering. After a time when the king Arindama was reigning on the golden mountain, due to his ingenious power, a gap of one week (yojana) emerged from the city of Saṅkassa, the sun of glory, the sage, and like the beautiful autumn sun on Mount Yugandhara, domesticating about ninety thousand million beings on the way to surround the king Arindama. Let them renunciate according to the formula "Thien Lai Bhikkhu khưu.[273] This is the second Sangha. And when the God of Heaven (Sakka), the gods of the gods approached to see who cares for the welfare of sentient beings, and the Sumana Buddha recited the sutta to him around eighty thousand thousand million million Arahas. drought. This is the third Sangha. So some people say:
V 11. The great Sumana hermit has three Sangha composed of steadfast people and has finished all the contraband. They are flawless and calm in their hearts.
12. When the Buddha settled in the rainy season in proclamation, "The Feast of the Fourth Priest has invited a sangha of up to one hundred thousand thousand million.
13. Following that, with a spotless mass gathered on the golden mountain, a second gathering of ninety thousand thousand million took place.
14. When the Heavenly Master (Sakka), the king of the gods, came to the Buddha, a third gathering of eighty thousand thousand million took place.
158 ]  12. In this regard  regarding the proclamation of "the Fourth Prayer Ceremony[274]means that there is a varietal change that needs to be understood here. The meaning here is: the proclamation of the "Feast of the Fourth Prayer."
13.  Next after that  means the next after the invitation.
13.  On a golden mountain  means composed of pure gold.
14.  Come to see the Buddha  means come to see the Buddha [275]
It is said that our Bodhisattva at that time was a Dragon King called Atula, a man with great magical power, unparalleled power. Upon hearing that a Buddha appeared, he immediately left the residence with a group of relatives surrounded. After having organized an alms of the gods instrument for the Sumana Buddha, who had hundreds of thousands of millions of monks[276] surrounded, bestowed on that great alms and offered each monk a pair of robes, he was set up to take refuge. The guru also signed him as follows, "In the future you will become a Buddha" So people say:
V 15. At that time I was a Dragon King (Naga) with great magical power. My name is Atula. There are many ingenious talents.
16. Then, starting with relatives from the residence of the Dragon King (Naga). I have served the Victory and his Sangha with celestial instruments performed by the nagas of the Dragon Kings.
17. Then I distributed one hundred thousand thousand million robes of robes to the bhikkhus and treated them with food and drink. I have run to find refuge in you.
18. Buddha Sumana, the world leader, has also signed on me as follows: "Countless lives from here he will become a Buddha" ..
19. When you are striving for asceticism ... "" ... we will be facing this person. "
Eight verses are interpreted as in the chronicle of Buddha Koṇḍaña.
20. When we have heard these words, we are increasingly determining our spiritual dimension. we resolutely devote ourselves to practice to complete the ten levels (ten paramitas).
And Mekhala is the city name of Buddha Sumana. His father was King Sudatta. His mother's name is Sirim; Saraṇa and Bhāvitatta are the supreme men of his writing. Udena is his attendant (monk). Soṇā and Upasoṇā[277] are the two supreme female poets of his, his Bodhi tree named Nāga tree. His body is about ninety cubit tall. His life span extended to approximately ninety thousand years. Vaṭaṃsak[278] is his queen's name. Anupama is the name of his son. He ordained on the back of an elephant, Aṅgarja was his lay assistant, He lived in Aṅgrma. So there is a word about him as follows:
