8. The Dharma comes to see.
I. BRINGING THE MESSAGE OF THE TRUTH, TRYING THE TRUTH
Today's topic is "The Buddha's Law To See" . This is a common phrase in the A-jaw and the Nikaya.
The first meaning is to bring people face the truth, experience the truth. Dharma is the enlightenment of truth. That enlightenment is in the human mind, not in reasoning and word.
The teacher Lam Te once reminded him: "Believers cannot keep up, so they can go outside to search. Even if they find it, it is the enemy of wrestling . The main meaning is not in writing. The idea of the Buddha or the Living Group is right in the enlightened mind of each person. The Zen master added: "The great virtue! You should not receive the dress! The shirt does not know how to move. It is the person who wears the garment, the shirt is Pure, the shirt of No birth, the shirt of Bodhi, the Nirvana shirt, the Ao , Buddha clothes etc ... ". Meaning Bodhisattva, Nirvana, Patriarch, Buddha or Foot like Buddha, Buddha nature, etc. are just nouns. Like the outer garment, not Bodhi itself, Nirvana. The shirt does not move. It is people who can move. That is France. Studying Buddha must skillfully penetrate those shirts to face the truth and not just stop at the shirt but reason. It is skillful learning.
For example, noun Bodhi, Nirvana, etc., it does not know enlightenment, it does not win defilements. Enlightenment, Nirvana or liberation etc. .. need to be right in your place. Studying the Dharma, initially being self-centered, but then having to overcome writing and language to directly experience the truth. So save me, in accordance with the nature of Buddha.
You read the history of the Buddha will see that when the Buddha was new, he did not want to go to the sermon, but the purpose of his spiritual practice was to teach beings. Then wait for the Brahma spells sometimes three times, He promised to have deep thoughts. Because he saw that his witness was too deep, beyond the mind of understanding the mediocre reasoning of the world, so he did not want to rush to lecture. In the sutras, at that time, he said: " I have penetrated the profoundly difficult, unintelligible, silent, wonderful dharma, without any explanation. Where he sees, that realization is beyond reasoning, reasoning, so it must be a saint, an enlightened being can sympathize. Without sympathy, when he said that he was afraid, there would be misunderstandings and wrong ideas of Buddha.
It was at the beginning that the Buddha implicitly reminded the disciples to study the Buddha later to learn beyond the speech language, the writing itself, to sympathize with where Buddha wanted to say, to say. Having said that is only a reluctant means of Buddha. The truth of life is not in that medium. Like a car that takes me to the city, the car is not a city, not a destination. If I keep sticking to the car, I will not achieve the goal but only temporarily take the car to the destination where I want to. In Kinh Vien Giac, the Buddha said: "The sutras that the Buddha spoke like the finger pointing to the moon" , the clever man had to lean his finger to see the moon, unable to cling to the finger but to the moon. Also, the linguists to refer to the truth but truth is not in the language.
In Kinh Lang-old said, Buddha sermon on forty years but in the middle of which He never said a word. That is the meaning of Buddha which is not on the noun or those words.
II. THREE CIRCUMSTANCES
When we study Bat-elegant, there are three types: Bat-elegant writing - Bat-elegant reflection - It's Bat-elegant. The word Bat-elegant translates to wisdom, but the wisdom here is not like the wisdom in the world of wisdom which is destroyed, this is wisdom in Buddha Dharma. Often referred to as Bat-elegant intellect so people don't get confused.
- Bat-elegant letter: The listener, study and study of the scriptures open the light of the knowledge of Buddhism. It is also intellectual but is the wisdom on the writing, the wisdom of the Buddha of our Group re-learns not our own. The example of learning to hear about impermanence is understanding the impermanence, but not really feel the impermanence of yourself. That is, there is no magic power, yet to get to the subtle places of impermanence. Therefore, one more step is needed.
- Bat-elegant projection: Listen and understand, it is necessary to regularly reflect on the daily life, taking the place that you learn to understand directly to things, the methods to experience its truth. In the Heart Sutra, Bat-elegant has the phrase "Projection of the five aggregates of the period without necessarily suffering". This is often to contemplate my five aggregates, not, to come and go back and forth in both walk-and-sit times to see clearly that it is not just understanding words. Bring the reason not right into reality. I understand that the five aggregates are not able to meet anyone who says that they are offended. Then it is not zero. This elaborately contemplation is very important, having such a consistent reflection can bring us to the Nirvana bank.
- It is Bat-elegant: We contemplate often until maturing then we will self-shine. Open yourself to wisdom, clear that truth right in yourself. It means that you are the truth, not the one who has the shop, what you have to do, so it is separated. At this point, the general did show money, I did not need to shop anymore but still found it was not. That is the wonderful place of Bat-elegant. Directly encountering the truth truly overcome the tribulations. Switching the "skandha of the five" of the Bodhisattva To Self in the Heart of your city, right where you are. This place needs to be meticulous, not just plain argument, to be a practitioner, to practice deeply, freely, without interruption. It's not a good time to shop, it's busy when you're busy.
For example, Co Duc: The person who wants to cross the river must step on the boat, sail to the other shore, and when he reaches the shore, he will go to the shore freely. Stepping on the boat is the Bat-elegant letter. But stepping on the boat and sitting there, I couldn't get to the other shore, I had to go to the shore. That is Bat-elegant reflection. If I went to the shore, I could not go anywhere on the boat, because I was stuck on the boat, had to step on the shore, and leave the boat to freedom. That is the true Bat-elegant.
Or the case of rowing over to the shore but unfortunately the boat, dragging along the shore or carrying on the shore is also afraid. Or think I am going to shore, then breaking the boat is not. Need to leave for those who haven't passed, they need that boat to pass.
Here, the error is not in the boat. Also, France is not at fault but the error is caused by people stuck in it. If we rely on the Fa to cultivate, realizing the truth, Dharma is the means to bring us to the truth. That's a good thing without errors.
III. EXPERIENCE THE EXPERIENCE
The Dharma emphasizes the experience of truth. Ancient people said: " Do not enter tiger cave how to catch a tiger ". Want to end suffering must end the artificial created suffering, can not stand outside of thinking but all suffering. Also, " Wanting to go through the misery " must practice the Bat-elegant Ba-la-honey from then " examining" - penetrating the five aggregates. That deep Bat-elegant is not in the words, reasoning or ink pages. If only above reasoning, excuse is not called the Bat-elegant deep. That is, I have to go directly into Bat-elegant, open my Bat-elegant eye myself. Reasoning, reasoning is the first step, no matter how good the argument or interpretation is, it is impossible to turn the five aggregates into " no ".
Zen Master Quang Tri used to wake up the people who study Buddha or misunderstand on " nothing ", worry about saying " no " but do not understand " no ". He said: " It is impossible to accept: I am enlightened, it is not afflicting, it is crazy if I initiate the mind. However, the mind is troubling even if it is not good, it causes karma, as well as karma. It does not create nature but also creates suffering, suffering, though it is deceitful but it is difficult to be patient?"The truth is the affliction is not but I do not say it is not, but must cultivate to experience yourself. I understand that no, listening to the sutra is not saying I am not. But when I have suffering, I also suffer, have difficulties, and are uncomfortable, so I have to practice and realize that truth and feel really, not because I understand it, say no, it is not.
In the Sutra, there is a sutta: Once the Buddha entered the forest, the monks followed, Buddha held a handful of leaves in his hand and asked the monks: " How many leaves in my hand or many forest leaves? " . The monks responded: " The leaves in the hands of the Blessed One are few, the leaves outside the forest are very much ." Buddha said: " Likewise, what I have witnessed and understood is like leaves in the forest, and what I say to you as well as leaves in my hands ."
Through this example, we find that even though we study the scriptures that Buddha said in the "Tripitaka Sutra" is like holding the leaves in his hand, and the things that Buddha understands, the Buddha experiences, Buddha has not yet spoken like leaves in the forest. . Even if I learned five, ten sutras, five, and ten essays as well as holding the leaf in my hand. If you want to penetrate the leaves in the forest, you must cultivate, practice and show your wisdom, and sympathize with what Buddha says is not over yet. The language is still in the limit, and the truth and the truth of life must be practiced to prove it. Good saints or enlightened Zen masters, they often awaken to bring learners directly to feel the truth, not to stop on the language.
Zen family has a story: Venerable Định is a disciple of the Dharma master Lâm Te. One day on the way to take a son at home, he went home, went to a bridge and met the three chiefs who were the abbot, teaching the dharma. One of them met him and asked: " What is the bottom of the river of meditation ?". When the Venerable Định finished listening, he grabbed the chest of the person who was about to throw it into the river. The other two felt so anxious to ask for forgiveness. Venerable Dinh let go and said: " If there are no two masters here, I will let Him down to know the bottom of the river of meditation ".
Thereby, seeing the Zen master studying Buddha very seriously, he wanted to know the bottom of the river of meditation, then he had to go in, but he stood outside asking to joke, it was impossible to know. Likewise, we stand here and talk about Nirvana, about Bodhidharma and we cannot see Nirvana, Bodhi. Many times discussing Nirvana also quarreled, there are people who say Nirvana like this, someone said Nirvana like that. Bouncing and not seeing Nirvana is not only seeing birth and death. True truth, want to see Nirvana must practice, experience Nirvana.
The Sutta " There is Any Method " in the Samyutta Nikaya, the Buddha says: "The monks, the eyes see the colors, the inner have the greed, the yard ..., there are si ... .. well know My inner mind has greed ..., there is anger, there is inner feeling, there is no greed ..., yard ..., si, it is also clear that the inner mind has no greed ..., no yard, Without si, Bhikkhu-monks! Knowing that they are present or not in his mind, are they dharma that is due to the belief that is understood or loved by understanding, by listening are you knowledgeable, or are you thinking about methods, because of rings, etc ? The Bhikkhu-stilts said: "The White World, no ". Buddha asked more: " Are these dharma because of seeing with wisdom should be understood ?".Yes, White World Religion ".
Buddha said: " This is the dharma, the monks, due to this practice in addition to beliefs, in addition to love, in addition to listening, in addition to reflecting on the method, in addition to ringing, enjoying, arguing, can confirm with the right mind, that person knows that the birth and death are finished, the work is done ".
Buddha clearly asserts that in his inner mind there are greed, hatred and delusion, knowing that there is greed, hatred and delusion. In my mind, I don't have greed, hatred and ignorance, I also know that there is no greed, hatred and delusion. This "knowledge" is not due to contemplation, reasoning or listening to someone who says it again, but "this" I must confirm by my own intellect, exist in me and not in classics, books . I have to face that truth myself with my righteous mind, not just stopping to learn from the outside is enough. Must come to see!
Studying Buddha is himself following the Buddha's teachings, then I practice myself, coming to the experience, feeling the Buddha-dharma, directly confronting the truth of the Buddha taught. Thus, we really have the strength to win defilements, suffering, if not, then only learn and understand but not enough to win.
If you study Buddhism, you understand that mind and body is impermanent, temporary, fragile and unsustainable. But do I really understand it's impermanent? If I really understand that, for example when I go to see a doctor, I know I have cancer, etc., do I find it impermanent? Or at that time I paid that impermanence to Buddha, to the Patriarch. That is the real thing.
IV. SUMMARY
The Dharma is the true Dharma, right where it is, cannot be anywhere else. Buddha was born self-enlightened, self-experiencing in himself and then pointed to sentient beings to be enlightened like Him. Is to bring people directly face the truth of enlightenment, not just standing outside.
The first lesson Buddha theory in Loc Da garden is the Dharma of the Four Noble Truths - Four noble truths. This time of turning the wheel of Dharma is called the " Three transformations of the second act " ie three times to turn into twelve. Three transfers are: transfer, transfer, transfer. Thi is pointing out, Extension is recommended, Testimony is true.
Thi moved:
Buddha only clearly shows us that this is the Noble Truth (which is the result that sentient beings are suffering from), this is the Noble Truth (which is suffering, attachment, anger, and ignorance that cause suffering), wanting to end suffering and reach happily Nirvana must stop the cause. That is Kill (is peaceful, Nirvana). If you want to get rid of that person, you must have a way and a method, not just reasoning and talking. That way is the Eightfold Path or Thirty-seven assistant products. That is the Noble Truth. Thus, the monk is to stop the cause leading to suffering, without humanity, there is no result of suffering, indeed Nibbana, is happy to kill.
Promotion:
When it is shown to the sentient beings, the Buddha advised to cultivate, that is, Transfer Buddha said: " This is the misery that you need to know; this is Xi (ie the cause leading to suffering) you need to end; this is Deng (cessation of suffering) you need to witness; this is the Way (is the way to stop suffering) you need to cultivate, you can't just understand it, you need to practice, you must cultivate to go straight to the truth .
Certificate of transfer:
Buddha clearly identified those things as what He had realized, experienced, and taught to sentient beings, not that He heard anyone speak or He thought and thought. He said so to stop doubt or in sentient beings, let sentient beings know that He has gone through, already attained. He said: " Suffering As Tathagata has known, Tathagata has a passage, Kill Tathagata has witnessed, Tathagata has cultivated ". That is, those things that Tathagata practiced through, have clearly realized just to teach the disciples. The disciples of Buddha must also follow that mirror, to practice, to experience, to experience but not only to understand but to think it is enough.
He wanted to remind the disciples to study Buddha to come to the Dharma, to taste the dharma of the Dharma, not to stop dying in languages and texts. It is necessary to " come and see ", that is the message for all Buddhists from now until later. Studying Buddha properly means having to experience it to see the noble value of the Dharma, the practical benefit of Dharma right in your own life, right away when you are present, not waiting far away, through the next life. New experience. Understanding, deeply penetrating the Dharma, you will see the Dharma help you turn the view from delusion to enlightenment. Since then, it has transformed its life.
