Here,  dīpa  in the Buddha's teaching just means  'lamp' , which means 'island'  so it can be understood as:  'Making yourself an island for yourself' or  'Being a lamp yourself' for yourself ' . Whether it is a lamp or an island, the Blessed One exhorts them to cultivate themselves, not to seek out outside pleasures and to cultivate themselves and not cultivate others.Yes, during the 45 years of Buddha's Dharma teaching, he declared the Dharma theory that he was enlightened, bringing enlightened dharma to all beings to know and enlighten. Although The Ton passed away, the aura of this great master illuminates the world of suffering and darkness, like a lighthouse that guides and enlightens mankind. The doctrine of Buddha shines openly, radiantly and radiantly as the light of the sun and the moon, and more than the two of them. The Buddha and his teaching remain forever as the golden rule of pearls that leads sentient beings out of the suffering of human life.Because He is "The person who stands up to what is thrown down, reveals what is hidden, shows the way to those who are lost, brings the light into the darkness so that those who have eyes can see. Also, the Dharma has been used by The Ton using many means to present and explain ". [3]
He saw beings suffering but still did not know he was suffering, still engrossed in worldly pleasures, with the sexes of the ceiling. Ignore it, just enjoy it first, just having fun is enough. They defied the consequences, "people are afraid of falling rain." Therefore, the Buddha taught in the Dhammapada:
Not long ago,              
Niccaṃ satify hours;
Andhakārena onaddhā,              
Padīpaṃ na gavesatha
Laugh, rejoice                   
When life forever burned
Darkness covered                   
Why not find the lamp. [4]

In life, there are times when we encounter pleasant scenes, we have fun and happiness. At that time, our ordinary people laughed joyfully, we couldn't control ourselves, we couldn't control it. That's right, in my drunkenness, I don't even know who I am. Or on the wedding day, there is no groom who thinks this is suffering, this is the binding string. We forget that life is forever burned, darkened, we forget it. The truth is that this is something that our ordinary people are easy to take, very dangerous. 
The opening sentence of the verse, The Sun said the reminder: " Ko nu hāso kimānando - What laughs? What is it?"  Because of forgetting myself, forgetting myself, I am not aware of what the current situation is. Rice surrounded by rice robes, famous career wear, old sick and dead and sad-bi-suffering-good-brain clinging, so is it fun to laugh? We are burning, brain-burning, which is good, like living beings in hell. Jumpy (pahaso), they are like dancing, singing but actually being in pain, moaning every second minute.We are burned. Burning by what? That is the fire burning us. Not the kind of fire, fire, electric fire, but those are more terrible things. There are all 11 kinds of fire mentioned: fire, fire, fire, fire, old fire, fire, sorrow, fire, fire, fire and brain fire. The weather was hot and uncomfortable these days, but the feeling of being burned by the fire did not penetrate anywhere. Yet, when these 11 kinds of fire were burned, it was even more miserable, thousands of times.
The fire of fire, the fire of the fire, the fire of ignorance are the three kinds of fire that belong to defilements. These three types of fire make the inner brain heat and burned, it affects our body and mind. When we were still ordinary people, we were also greedily dominated. We always have suffering around us. Do not think that only when we pitch in will we suffer, we are impatient, even if we start loving the attachment of attachment, there will be suffering and heat. When we are deeply in love, it is this love mind that makes the mind bound to be called the craving affection, like a similar king of Ummadantī who must suffer from insomnia. After that, the great minister understood the story of a plan to awaken the conscience of that king, so the similarities were not righteous because the Ummadantī was the goddess of conscience. She was so beautiful that the Brahmin view the minister, being attracted to beauty by loving-kindness arises, they forget the duty to do and lose their status. They eat them and they don't know they're eating. They pick up real things and don't put them in their mouths but put them on their lips or on their nose ... They drink choking water.[6]  So we see that craving for beings is not a simple thing.
And the flames such as birth, old age, death, sadness, compassion, suffering, favor, and brain are the fundamental fires in our daily lives. In this life we ​​never live peacefully, happily. Whether a person has property, has merit, longevity. They have enough precious glory, have enough power in this world, but they also cannot escape the scorching fire, ie old age, sickness, death. In life, melancholy, compassion and brain heat are inevitable. Life is a long chain of joy, anger, love, stigma, a long chain of feelings. If the body is peaceful, the mind is relaxed, then there is nothing to say, surely everyone is interested in, enjoying the feeling. If you have to suffer from unpleasant feelings, you will be miserable and unhappy.
The first two verses of the verse are like a test yourself. If someone else asks themselves, reviewing this very life itself, although I am happy, happy with my wife, husband, children, property, but I can escape the old, disease, death or not? Get rid of sorrow, compassion, suffering, favor, brain in daily life? Not escaped. When we answer that, we see this is a very important issue. Every day we practice, we have to ask ourselves again.
Surrounded by darkness, will you not seek the lamp? When you are aware of yourself being burned, there is something funny and joyful, that is to reflect yourself and find a way to escape. The competent general, knowing that he was surrounded, had to find a way to disrupt the entire army and himself. In the same way, we must know that we are covered by darkness (andhakārena) to know how to find a way out of that darkness.The darkness here is ignorance (avijjā), which means not knowing the knowledge. The Dharma is worth knowing here as we do not understand the truth of suffering, the truth of suffering and the truth of the cessation of suffering and the truth about the path leading to the cessation of suffering. Any misery, any knowledge, no knowledge of killing, realization of any realities, so-called ignorance. Or the definition says: don't understand the four bases, such four truths are ignorance. Life of beings when covered by ignorance, then we will be dominated by many suffering, ignorance is the root.
Whenever darkness ignorance also encompasses, at that time beings do not escape the cycle of reincarnation, not escaping the restraint of attachment and anger. On the day of ignorance and ignorance, greed and anger are lost, destroyed and if ignorance kills craving, there is no anger that has been extinguished. dominant, no longer melancholy, compassion, suffering, favor, brain. When we know that our life is dominated by ignorance, covered in darkness, dense ignorance, we don't easily break that dark ignorance. In this world there is only one class of people who can break ignorance by themselves, that is the Buddha. He renounced the citadel to go home, the truth. During the six years of asceticism, he went to find, close to this Taoist Taoist master, to find a way to liberate, but all of them were only able to make a very good life and attained the formless meditation. He realized that for this kind of meditation, this realm only brought to the realm of Pham Thien. If so still not escape the scene of birth and death. He found the Middle Way himself and when the light of truth appeared, dark ignorance no longer existed, He became the Righteous Enlightenment. The only person in this world who broke that ignorance himself.Now, we understand the Dharma, know the practice, we have to be diligent in ourselves, as if we have to light the torch ourselves. The Blessed One once taught that:
Tumhehi kiccamātappaṃ,         
Akkhātāro tathāgatā.
You enthusiastically do,         
Tathagata teaches only. [7]
Padīpa is the lamp, the light. When the light appears, the darkness disappears. Only the intellectual light can break through the ignorant night, it is the insight that understands the reason of the General of impermanence - suffering - the selflessness of nama and rupa. Only the result of the wisdom of the mind can paralyze the dark ignorance, only that wisdom, the wisdom of the A-La-Han saints can destroy ignorance. Do not have to wait until the A-la-Han is called tu, but you have to cultivate yourself from now on, you do not have the position of the result, you must create the position (sutamayapaññā) - the mind (cintāmayapaññā) - the mind ( bhāvanāmayapaññā) [8] right from the very life of each of us. These three types of minds serve as lamps for us to light up. Although there is no sunlight in the dark night to dispel the darkness, we have three lights or these three small torches that have enough light to illuminate the path without being misled. Also, in our practice life even though we have not yet received the light of wisdom, we have three types of intellectuals, intellectuals and intellectuals. Relatively in everyday life we ​​can be mindful - awareness can be self-reliant, then let's try to practice and find the lamp for ourselves. Make your own light, that we already know. For the practice of Buddhism does not rely on another power. We do not sit back and just pray, but be aware of the nature of life, what is suffering When we are bored, we begin to look for the lamp and that intellectual lamp is only in our interior.Let's try to practice like that. It is the practice in daily life that is seen as a special kind of wisdom, which will help us to have enough power to dispel the darkness.
In short, the 146th verse is not a poem about empty theory, but is valuable in practice, taking on the character as a warning that Lord The Ton has sent to all of them. me. We can depend on our own circumstances, depending on our level of practice, trying to rise up and escape the darkness.
