The mindfulness is like a landlord, disturbing emotions like a thief. Thieves never like the host; The host always hates the thief.

Mindfulness and disturbing emotions are the same. Without eradicating negativity it is not possible to remain with the awakened consciousness. Therefore should want to remain only awakening, then decide to eradicate the two defenses (self, dharma).
