The Consequences of the Ten Unwholesome Actions Each negative action produces four kinds of karmic effects: the fruit that is ripe, arises, the fruit corresponding to the cause it is sown, the fruit that arises karma, and the fruit that grows continuously. 2.1. Ripe fruit arises If you commit any one of the ten negative actions while being motivated by anger this will lead to rebirth in the hell realms. Committing evil by greed will fall into the hungry ghost realm; commit evil due to ignorance will have to fall into the animal realm. Once we fall into these lower realms, we have to go through special sufferings in that realm. In addition, when there is a very strong urge - extremely intense greed, hatred, or delusion - this will be the engine that leads to the continual accumulation of negative actions over a long period of time, and this will lead to rebirth in the hell realms. If the urge is less strong and the negative actions are lessened, then rebirth as a hungry ghost will result; if less then it will be reborn as animals. 2.2. The fruit corresponds to cause Even in the end, when we have been released from the lower realm, where fully ripe fruit arises, we must be born there, and now we have a human body, but even so, we will still have to continue experiencing the experience of the same effect with the cause. Indeed, in the lower realms there are also many different kinds of suffering similar to special causes. There are two kinds of results similar to this cause: the actions corresponding to the cause and the experiences corresponding to the cause. 2.2.1. This karma corresponding to the cause and effect This effect is a suitable tendency for acts of the same kind, like the cause of the original cause. If we have killed before, we would still like to kill; if we ever stole, we still enjoy taking what is not given; and so on. This explains why, at an early age, someone killed all the insects and flies they saw. Such a tendency to kill corresponds to similar acts that they performed in previous lives. From the moment we are born, each of us has acted differently, driven by different karmic impulses. Some like to kill, some like to steal, while others are not interested in such behavior and prefer to do good deeds instead. All such tendencies are remnants of previous actions, or otherwise the effect of the same cause. That's why people say: Want to know what you did before, look at you now. Want to know where you are going to be born, look at what you are doing now. It is the same with animals. The instinct of animals like eagles and wolves is to kill; The rat's instinct is to steal - in each case an outcome corresponding to the cause, and caused by their previous action. 2.2.2. Experience corresponding to cause Each of the ten unwholesome acts leads to a pair of effects for the experiences we have to experience afterwards. Slaughter. Not only does killing in a previous life shorten the life span of our present life, but we will also get sick frequently. Sometimes there are babies who die at birth as a result of similarity to the cause of the fact that they have been killed in a past life; for many lives they can go on dying immediately at birth and go on and on. There are also people who live to adulthood, but from childhood they have been afflicted by illness, disease after disease without rest until death - again, as a result of killing and assault. others in a previous life. Faced with such situations, it is more important to repent with remorse for past actions, rather than to find ways to alleviate immediate difficulties. We should repent with remorse and vow to give up such acts; and as a counter to the karmic retribution of old karma, work hard to do good deeds and give up negative actions. Get what is not given. Stealing in a past life not only makes us poor in this life, but we can also endure robbery, theft, or other calamities such as our enemies and opponents. split the year seven of the meager possessions I earn. For this reason, anyone who is currently lacking money or wealth is better off creating even a small spark of merit than going up a mountain to get rich. If your fate is not rich because you have little generosity in previous lives, no effort in this life will help you. Look at the wealth most robbers get from each of their plunder — often much more than the earth itself can hold. Yet those who live by robbery always end their lives in hunger. Also pay attention to how the merchants or usurpers of the Sangha's assets have lost money in making money, no matter how great their wealth is. On the contrary, those who are now enjoying the fruits of their almsgiving in the past are never deprived of wealth all their lives, and for many of these people all good things happen. and they don't need any effort. So, if you hope to become rich, devote all your efforts to charity work and making offerings! This Jambudvipa (human realm) is a place where you can create 60 special conditions for karmic retribution arising from our actions in the past, making it possible for what we do in life before then to bear fruit in this life too - or even immediately if the actions we do have been created under certain specific circumstances. So using robbery, deception or other means to take what is not given in the hope of getting rich is the exact opposite of what we intend. Karma will imprison us in the hungry ghost world for many eons. Even at the end of this life, karmic retribution will begin to have an impact and will make us increasingly poor and difficult. We will be stripped of control over some of our remaining possessions. No matter how rich we are, greed will make us feel increasingly deprived and lost. Our possessions will become the cause of our negative actions. I will be like the ghouls guarding the treasure but cannot use what they possess. Pay close attention to outsiders who appear rich. If they do not know how to develop generosity or father, then their wealth is generously given to the Dhamma - the source of happiness and well-being in this life and in the next lives - or even they do not know widely. in buying food and clothes, they are actually poorer than the poor. Their primal-like experience right now is the result similar to the cause, and this is due to their impure giving in the past. Adultery. It is known that indulgence in adultery will result in us having a wife (or husband) that is not only gracious, but also has a ludicrous or hostile manner. When couples are unable to stop arguing or fighting, each often blames the other's bad habits. In fact, each of those married couples is experiencing the same effect with the cause, the result of their past adultery. Rather than hate each other, they should realize that it was the result of their past bad deeds and should be tolerant of each other. Padampa Sangye said: Families are fleeting like crowds in a market; People of Tingri, don't quarrel or fight! Lie. The same experience that causes lies in our past lives is that we not only often get criticized or looked down on, but also often lie against by others. If you are accused and criticized incorrectly now, it is the result of having lied in the past. Instead of getting angry and insulting people who have said such things about you, be grateful to them for helping you drain the karmic retribution of many unwholesome actions. You should feel happy. Rigdzin Jigme Lingpa says: The enemy returns your good deeds with bad deeds helping you to be diligent in your practice. False accusations are a whip that leads you to virtue. That person is the teacher who destroys all of your grasping and lust. Look at his great kindness that you can never repay! Sow discord. The result is similar to the cause of sowing discord in our previous life that not only our associates and servants cannot get along with each other, but they often argue and oppose us. Mostly, attendants of lamas, attendants of leaders or servants of the host, They didn't get along with each other, and though repeatedly asked to do something, they refused to obey and even stubbornly argued. The servants of the common man pretend not to hear when asked to do chores, even easy things to do by their masters. The landlord must repeat the order two or three times; and in the end, only when he gets angry and speaks hard to them will they slowly and reluctantly do what was asked of them. Even when they finished the work they did not think of going back to inform the owner. They are often in a bad mood. But the owner is only reaping the results of the discord he has sown in the past. Therefore, he should regret his own bad deeds, and reconcile his own disagreements with others. Saying harshly. Harsh speech in past lives will not only cause everything others to say to us offensive and insulting, but moreover, the result of this is that everything we say will also cause controversy. Cruel words are the worst of the four unwholesome verbal actions. As the proverb says: Words have no bow and arrow nor swords, but tear one's mind to pieces. Suddenly inciting hatred in others, or - even worse - even saying a single attack on a holy sage will leave us many lives in the lower realms without any chance to free. Once a brahmin named Kapila insulted the monks of Kasyapa, calling them "horse head," "ox head" and many other names like that. He was reborn as a sea fish-like monster with eighteen heads. He did not get out of that state for a whole life and even then was reborn in hell. One nun called another nun a bitch, having been reborn herself as a bitch for five hundred years. There are many stories like that. So learn to always speak softly. In addition, since you never know who a saint or a Bodhisattva is, practice yourself to see all sentient beings pure. Learn to appreciate them and celebrate their achievements and good qualities. It is said that criticizing or attacking a Bodhisattva is worse than killing all sentient beings in the three realms: defaming a Bodhisattva is a felony, More severe than killing all sentient beings. in the three realms; All the big and small mistakes that I've ever accumulated, I would like to repent. Helpful gossip. The results are similar to the cause of vain gossip not only to invalidate what we say, but also make us lack determination and confidence. No one believes us even when we tell the truth, and we will lack confidence when speaking in public. Greed. The consequences of greed not only prevent us from getting what we want most, but also from all the situations we least like. Desiring to harm others. As a result of our desire to harm others, we will not only live in constant fear, but will also endure constant harm. Wrong opinion. The consequence of cultivating wrong views is that we will not only persist in such harmful beliefs, but our mind will also be disturbed by lies and false perceptions. 2.3. The effect of the result, the karma, the effect of the result on our living environment. Slaughter leads to rebirth in dangerous, dark places, full of ravines and cliffs full of lurking danger. Taking what is not given leads to rebirth in ragged regions of poverty, where frost and hail destroy crops and trees bear fruit. Adultery forces us to live in disgusting places full of feces and waste, swamps, etc. Lying will bring us unstable matter, frequent nervous panic and frequent events. terrible work and circumstances. Speech causes discord that makes us reside in hard-to-navigate regions, cut open with deep canyons, rocky passes and similar places. Harsh speech leads to rebirth in a bleak, rocky and thorny land. In vain gossiping will cause us to be reborn in a barren and barren land, even though hard work does not produce anything; Inappropriate and unpredictable weather. Greed will cause poor crops and all sorts of other diseases in difficult places and times. The desire to harm others leads to being reborn in places full of terrible fear and various afflictions. Wrong views cause rebirth in impoverished situations with no support or protection. Harsh speech leads to rebirth in a bleak, rocky and thorny land.
