Everyone who attends Yulanpen Festival has indescribable feelings when receiving a formal red or white rose on the chest to remember the birth. What is the meaning of the rose color on this bra?
The meaning of a red and white rose
Normally, the pagodas will hold a ceremony to worship Vu Lan on the full full moon day of the seventh lunar month. But there are also some temples that will hold 1-2 days in advance depending on the situation and the number of people registered to attend the ceremony.
Right from the first day of the month, those who still have their parents go to the temple or go vegetarian for a whole month to pray for health and happiness for their birth. As for the parents who have passed away, they may wish that they could be born in the pure land.
During the Yulanpen Festival, the monks will preach and teach about the meaning of Yulanpen Festival and children's filial piety to the one who was born. Parents who have a red rose (or rose) on the chest of their shirt, those who have no parents will be fitted with a white flower. Then together light candles to thank parents, chanting super prayers for loved ones who have died.

Origin of Yulanpen Festival
Dr. Duong Hoang Loc - Director of the Center for Religious Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, National University of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the Yulanpen Festival is a traditional festival of Northern Buddhism. Derived from the Vu Lan Bon Sutra that refers to the Bodhisattva Muc Kien Lien because her piety goes to hell to save her mother, but she does not succeed because her greed is too much.
Accordingly, Muc Kien Lien is one of the ten great disciples of the Buddha, praised by the Buddha Shakyamuni as "the first miracle" among his disciples, whose mother is Thanh De, who does not believe in Buddha, defames Buddhism.
There is a story saying that Ms. Thanh De made dumplings filled with dog meat to invite monks to eat, when the monks finished eating it violated the Buddha's prohibition but Mrs. Thanh De was the one who was guilty (it was said how much money for children bring to Ms. Thanh De wastefulness but lying is worshiping the temple).
When she died, Ms. Thanh De turned into a hungry ghost, her stomach was as big as a sink but her mouth was so small that she was hungry but could not eat. MAHAMAUDGALYAYANA used his eyes to see his mother in hell like that, so he came down to offer his mother a bowl of rice, but when holding the rice bowl, the rice bowl turned into fire.
MAHAMAUDGALYAYANA returned to find the Buddha to ask how to save his mother, Buddha said that because Muc Lien Lien's mother created so heavy karma, there was only one way through the cooperation of the monks in all ten directions to hope to be rescued. The full moon day of the seventh month is a suitable day to mobilize the monks, please prepare the ritual on that day.
Following the Buddha's words, Muc Lien Lien's mother was freed. Buddha also taught that sentient beings who want to honor their parents in this way (Vu Lan Bon Dharma).
