Eightfold Path .VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.

The Eightfold Path is the seventh practice of the thirty-seven supporting products. The practice of the Eightfold Path is the practical method that represents the most important characteristic of the teachings of the Master of the thirty-seven auxiliary products. Because this method is a precise method for the practitioner to lead to Nirvana of liberation, which is the shortest way to bring the practitioner to tranquility, which is the path spoken by the master for the first time after He became a Taoist at Nai Garden for his five brothers Kieu Tran As his fellow practitioner before to avoid two extreme attitudes between suffering (asceticism) and pleasure (happiness) that lead the practitioner to the Middle path. director does not get stuck on either side.

Eightfold Path in Sanskrit called āryāṣṭāṅgika-mārga, is the main road of eight branches leading to Nirvana liberation, also known as the Holy Bowl, the Noble Eightfold Path, the Noble Eightfold Path, the Eight Paths of practice, the Eight acts, The Noble Eightfold Path, the Eight Paths of the Eightfold Path, the Eightfold Path, the Eightfold Path, or the Eightfold Path.

The Eightfold Path consists of the following eight limbs:

- Right understanding (skrt: samyag-dṛṣṭi, pāli: sammàditthi): see it right.
- Right Thought (skrt: Samyak-saṁkalpa, pāli: sammàsankappa): right thought.
- Right speech (skrt: Samyag-vāc, pāli: sammàvàca): right.
- Right karma (skrt: Samyak-karmānta, pāli: samm kammata): works properly.
- Right life (skrt: Smnyag-ājīva, pāli: sammàjiva): live right.
- Right diligence (skrt: Samyag-vyāyāma, pāli: sammààyàma): right diligence.
- Mindfulness (skrt: Samyak-smṛti, pāli: sammà satti): remember correctly.
- Right concentration (Samyak-samadhi, pāli: sammà samàdhi): correct concentration.

1. Right view , also known as the Chief Justice, ie seeing suffering is suffering, practice is practice, killing is killing, religion is religion, with good and evil karma, with karma of good and evil, life after life, parents, Some people go to the good place, give up the good direction, in this life, that life, self-attained self-achievement. "When disciples know old saint died, collection of old boots death, death and annihilation of the old path to cessation of the old die, O friends, then you have the right view of St. disciple ..."  ( Kinh Tri View Sutra, Central I, p. 49, translation) or " When a Saint disciple knows akusala and knows the basis of akusala, knows goodness and the basis of wholesomeness, this the Hien, then the Holy disciple has right view, righteous view, absolute confidence in the dharma and accomplishes this magic "(Chief Kinh tri opinion, Central Vietnam, p. 47). It is the achievement of worldly cause and effect and emanating from the world through such a clear understanding of their existence and their changes according to dependent origination that the practitioner can think and realize the true nature and form. of all the French in this world, where is the legal possession of contraband, where is the illegal law. That is called right view.

Right Understanding is the first of the eight branches of the Noble Eightfold Path which belongs to the wisdom part of the three faculties in order to equip for a correct realization of the dependent origination view of all things, not to fall into a distorted view. between yes and no, between ordinary and part of the wrong view, but always have to keep an unbiased objective view from one side or the other to overcome all entanglements to attain free right view. as in the Great Tu Thap, Central III. tr. 207  “What is the wisdom of the mind, the wisdom power, the enlightenment of the dharma, the right view, the direction of a master of the Holy A-la-Han, there is no smuggling of mind, such right view is the unjust right view, super. "

This vision is known as the middle way of understanding, overcoming the wrong view and attachment of the world. In general, the practitioner leaves these five types of unrighteous understanding: One is self-grasping that this body has a self, it always exists without loss, that is called knowledge or self-view. The second is the extreme clinging to understanding on one side, as after we die, there will be no loss, that is called common view or the idea that opposes the concept that after we die will not exist anymore, that is called passage. ants or prejudices. These two views of yes-no that we attach to one of the two are called the bias. The third is to accept the idea that there is no moral cause and effect in this world, which is called wrong view. Four is to cling to the wrong understanding that is rightly true, that is called opinion.

If the disciple does not live by these five strange misconceptions, but knows with certainty:  “Knowing right view is right view, wrong view is wrong view. Know the right speech and wrong language. Know the right karma and evil karma. Know the right life and evil. Know the right diligence and wrong effort. Know mindfulness and wrong thoughts. Know righteous thoughts and wrong concentration. "   it is called realizing one's true awareness of the vision that leads to the path of liberation in the practice of the practitioner.

Right view, according to Dai Pi-she-sa 97, right view is divided into two types:

- A righteous right view, also known as the secular right view, means that only the consciousness is always corresponding with the contradictory good and righteous thoughts, because they are related to the grasping of the contraband, so they must turn to the path of good and fruitful. fun sex of the future life.

- The second is the non-contradictory right view, also known as the output of the right view, that is only for the infertile mind to completely no longer keep the consciousness corresponding to the contradictory goodness, but it overcomes the grasping of friendship. gonorrhea.

2. Right Thought , also known as righteousness, righteousness, righteousness or mindfulness, that is, there is no sensuality, awareness and, harm, is the second chi in the Eightfold Path, that is, the practitioner must Thinking about true morality to get rid of craving, aversion, harmful thoughts of inaccurate ways of thinking leads practitioners to the path of raising greed, anger, and delusion to create three fierce karma bound in samsara. On the contrary, the practitioner must always think about the path of liberation without greed, aversion, harmlessness by not thinking about them.

Just as righteous thoughts and right thinking there are two ways Right thinking is contraband, Right thinking is not smuggled:

- Practitioners need to apply the way of thinking in order to practice on the one hand the karmic karmic retribution for non-greed, impatience, harmlessness and, on the other hand, practice the meditators who have thought about their beneficial dhammas. the benefit of people (creating regeneration) of the three kamma, body, speech and mind through the manifesting of good causes leads to the result of good and good results according to karmic cause and effect. That is called contraband thinking.

- Practitioners thinking with innocent mind, Holy mind, that thought is called the Chief Justice of contraband, in contrast to the mind of contraband thought through non-greedy, an aversion, harmless mind.

3. Right language , also known as the Chief Justice language, the base language, is the third chi in the Eightfold Path, that is far away from the false, two-edged, evil speech, embroidery. Because these words of friendship with ignorance will bring the practitioner into three evil ways, on the contrary, the words are truthful, the words are in harmony with their interests, the words are gentle, not heavy cruel, the words are not. frivolous embroidery, fishing sentences with happiness, happiness and happiness. In general, the words that benefit us and benefit everyone, they create the cause of goodness to bless the practitioner in the future, it is called right speech. In the Great Eight Nirvana Sutta before the Buddha passed away, a disciple asked:

After the Buddha entered Nirvana, after the Buddha entered Nirvana, the next generation met many non-Buddhist books with Buddhist scriptures that could not be distinguished. So what words to believe to cultivate? Buddha said, no matter what the words of anyone as long as the words are true and appropriate, then just believe in that. That is, we speak of the merit of righteousness, in addition, if the practitioner renounces the above four ways to overcome the law of cause and effect and, the sentence is with heartlessness in the words, these words belong to the right speech without contraband.

4. Chief of karma , also known as the administration, the base of action, is the fourth chi in the Eightfold Path, only for action, true creation (the agent of good karma), ie only the body, speech, and mind of the three pure karma ; That means leaving killing, not giving, adultery, lying ... in general, practitioners live from thoughts, create actions, words are always away from all evil, calling it righteous karma.

According to the Eightfold Path, not seeing as real, not thinking as real, not talking like the truth, life is not real, needing is not real, acting is not real, mind is not real, concentration is not as the truth is called the eight wrong practice, on the contrary, these eight wrong actions are called right action, or righteous karma. Practitioners create good karma for good and bad karma for the future, which is called righteous karma.

According to Du Old Master Geography 64, there are three types of right karma (action): the Chief of action for the Buddha, the practitioner should make an offering. Administration for the Dharma, practitioners should take Du-old as a means of practice. Administration for the Sangha, practitioners should practice together with talent-legal life. According to Mahayana serious page 12, use six Ba-la-security: Almsgiving, worldliness, patience, diligence, meditation, wisdom (Bat-elegant) as administrative. According to Bien Trung composing the lower book, take Thirteen-la-secret as an executive, which distinguishes into six types of administration: Dark wins, will, depending on the law, the second cup, difference, no difference as administrative . According to the Dhamma Blessed 8, taking the life of the Dharma Master in the Dharma Flower 4 such as: Poisoning, reciting, speaking, writing scriptures and, making offerings are the right karma of the six types of shamans.

According to the Pure Land, it is also used to recite, contemplate, worship, make proclaims of names and, and praise to the Buddha Amitabha as the year of practice of the pureland and, according to Tantric practice, Karma practice after the practice are all called right karma. In general, all of our actions from words to deeds and in their thoughts have friendship with cause and effect leading to liberation, are called right karma belonging to contraband or not at all.

5. Right life, also known as the base of life, the right path of life, is the fifth chi in the Noble Eightfold Path, showing the way of life of the practitioner, the method of daily birth to bring full and warm clothes, medicine, and needs. need for family life. As a practitioner of the Buddha's righteousness, first of all purify the karma of each thought by not thinking about the harmful things that you do harm to others, but must have thoughts that bring joyful benefits to yourself. me and for everyone around me are family members and, beyond that, society; next is the purification of his body, speech and karma by his works and words in work when communicating; practitioners must stay away from all jobs that harm or harm people such as learning magic, divination ... deceiving others, On the contrary, the practitioner must live in accordance with the righteous law, which means that we have to choose the professions that bring all the benefits of happiness to others, then we choose that profession to live. That is called the legitimate living profession of a practitioner of the Buddha's dharma practice.

6. Right diligence, also known as the right means, politics, dharma, empire, is the sixth branch of the Eightfold Path, showing all the diligent efforts needed in the four things that practitioners need to make up their aspirations. when practicing to purify the three kamma, body, speech, and mind in the evil deeds only: any evil that has arisen, quickly eradicate them, any evil deeds have not yet arisen to try to prevent them from arising; If any wholesome dharma has not arisen, quickly make them arise, whatever good dhammas have arisen are for them to grow. That means always looking for a method of diligent diligent effort in preventing illegal things from happening together, trying to stop evil that has arisen (the prevention of evil) through two harming people and, always diligently diligently in doing good deeds through the two beneficial actions we have presented above. The right diligence here they are also perceived as the Four Chiefs of Dharma that we have mentioned before.

7. Mindfulness , also known as the base of mind, is the seventh branch in the Eightfold Path, using the plus general of the four legal bodies, feeling, mind and, which is contemplative. This is another form of satipahāna, which we have also mentioned before. Here we also would like to mention a little briefly, as practitioners we always remember to think about the nature of all dhammas in a real way without letting it be forgotten. We can classify mindfulness into two categories:

- Remember to think right about the legal realm of contraband, that is, practitioners we always remember to think of good thoughts, the effect of which corresponds to the legal right of contraband.

- Remember to think correctly about the non-contradictory dhamma, that is, practitioners, we depend on the righteous view, but we often think like the truth about all objects, with the interaction in accordance with the non-contraband dharma with ideas. Clear memorization never forget.

Those are the two ways to remember to think the righteous and righteous dharma of good and good liberation for practitioners when practicing mindfulness.

8. Right concentration , also known as the base of concentration, is the eighth limb of the Eightfold Path, the purpose of this chi is to help the practitioner to leave the evil deeds unwholesome in accomplishing four meditation: first meditation, second meditation, tam meditation and, the quartet of meditation.

According to the Great Tu Thap, Central Vietnam III, p. 206 - 208 translations of Minh Chau Buddha teach: " What is the Holy Right concentration with near conditions and personal support? It is right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right life, right diligence. , mindfulness. This, the Bhikkhu-stilts, any one-mindedness that is supported by these seven limbs, so it is called the Holy Right Concentration with the conditions and support " . The achievement of the righteous concentration of the beings as taught by the Buddha is to have a sentence with the seven factors above as supportive conditions and conditions to arise during practice in order to achieve results.

While the liberation of the results of the A-la-Han of the uneducated level includes ten chi as the Central Business III op. 221 then: "Due to the right view, right thought arises; due to right thinking, right speech arises; due to right speech, right karma arises; due to the right karma, right life arises; Due to the right life, the right effort arises; due to the right diligence, mindfulness arises; due to mindfulness, right concentration arises; due to right concentration, right mind arises; due to the right mind, liberation arises. Thus, the Bhikkhu-stilts, the path of the organic being consists of eight parts, and the path of the A-la-Han consists of ten parts. "

Therefore the resulting existence of right concentration is the existence of right understanding, right thought, right speech, righteousness, righteous thoughts, right effort, mindfulness and, vice versa, all are interdependent. initiation. And here in terms of the temporal cause and effect of segments, to say, these eight limbs are in order to condition each other to reach the four meditations, but in terms of the moment of arising and passing away, they exist. stay together. In terms of cause and effect of time, right understanding belongs to the most important part of the Eightfold Path to bring about right concentration.

Right concentration here we only mention limited subject matter of the Eightfold Path, so the definition here is also in the sense of the theme, so this definition is not universal and broader.

In short , the Eightfold Path is the eight branches necessary and sufficient for the practitioner to borrow from which they are the path to liberation of suffering, or the Eightfold Path is the boat through which the practitioner crosses from the shore. This side means the shore of suffering to the other side that is the shore of liberation enlightenment.

In the Eightfold Path we find that there is a close connection between this eighth practice and the seven other auxiliary practices as we have discussed earlier in this Lunar Calendar. The presence in each other through the following coordination so that practitioners have an overview and a basic understanding of this relationship:

- Mindfulness in the Eightfold Path is the content meaning of the Four Foundations of Mindfulness (abode); it is also mindfulness, the concept of power of the Five-faculties; is also the perception of seven senses of consciousness; and is the mentality of the Four Noble Truths.

- Right diligence is the content meaning of the four main needs; It is also the spirit of the four gods of sufficiency.

- Right thinking is to explore the dharma chi; It is also the inn of the Four Gods.

- Right view is insight knowledge, wisdom;

- Right concentration is joy, contempt, concentration, exhaustion.

Because of this relationship, which should be called by the Guru as the dharma of the Noble Truth, the middle way of bringing liberation from suffering to attain Nirvana of blissful liberation, in this section we have mentioned.
