According to Buddhist myth: Venerable Muc Lien Lien is one of the few outstanding disciples of the Buddha. He has boundless legal power. His mother, Thanh De, has passed away. He remembers and wants to know what his mother is like now, so he used insight into "four directions of eight directions". Reverend Muc Kien Lien saw his mother suffering a crime, a hungry devil in A Pi prison, thin, pale body, only skin and bones, excruciating pain.
Even though he knew that it was the result of greed, cruelty, and lies from the birth of his mother, he still could not help but be merciful. Using his magic, the fake Religious Muc Kien Lien brought rice to his mother. But, because the karma is too big, the rice bowl Ms. Thanh De holds in her hand suddenly turns into red charcoal.
Witnessing that scene, he was very heartbroken. He returned to Buddha, hoping that the Buddha would save him so that his mother's soul would be saved. Touched by the filial piety of Venerable Muc Kien Lien, the Buddha showed how he could save his mother from misery.
The Buddha said: "Although you have unlimited power, you are more filial than anyone else, your heart touches heaven and earth, but your mother's crimes are too heavy, you alone cannot save her. On the full moon day of the seventh month, the Buddhas rejoice, and the monks who are self-sacrificing, prepare an easy offering, sincerely request the monks to pray for their prayers so that your mother can transcend ”.
According to the Buddha's teaching, on the full moon day of the seventh month, the Venerable Muc Kien Lien set up the Vu Lan basin (the pot containing the easy offerings), invited monks to come to pray. Thanks to that, Mrs. Thanh De was able to escape. Other spirits are also saved through the monks' blessings.
Imitating the filial piety of Reverend Muc Kien Lien, on the full moon day of July every year, devotees and Buddhists everywhere jubilantly celebrate Vu Lan's holiday with the faith of their parents, grandparents, and ancestors. get rid of sinners.
Yulanpen Festival is one of the main holidays of Buddhism, so our folk have the saying "Tet the whole year is not equal to the full moon of July". This is a great ceremony to announce hospitality to grandparents, parents, ancestors - a precious Vietnamese custom.
Worshiping ceremony
Regarding the ceremony of worshiping the soul, according to Buddhism, there are 2 areas. The story is that in the past, demons often harassed and harmed people, making them unable to do business properly, so they called out to Buddha. The Buddha helps people expel demons and send them to hell. But because of the amount of compassion, he allows them to return to earth once a year on the full moon of July. Therefore, in the seventh lunar month, people think that there are many hungry demons in the world, so they must worship. porridge, rice, and salt bribe them so that they do not disturb normal life.
Another relates to the story between Mr. A Nan Da, often referred to as An Nan, with a fire demon (diem speech) also called a fire-faced demon (of course). One evening, Ananda was sitting in the hermitage when he saw a dry and thin primate with a small but long neck, and a fire-emitting mouth.
Devil said that three days later A Nan will die and will reincarnate into the fiery realm of fire like it. Ananda was so scared, so she asked the devil to show the way to avoid suffering. The hungry devil said: "Tomorrow you have to give us all of us a pot of food, and because I donate to the Three Jewels, you will gain increased life and I will also be born in the upper realms."
Ananda brought a story to the Buddha. The Buddha then gave a mantra called "Salvation of the Diem Diem Kha Da Da Da La Ni", reciting it in the ceremony to be blessed. Chinese Buddhists call this ritual the release of the mouthpiece, that is, offering to give alms and pray for the hungry demons. But folklore understood widely and the camp went to worship her soul, that is to offer to the spirits who pretended to have no place to rely on because no one was a relative in the world to worship. Therefore, today there is a saying: "In July, the full day of the full absolution of the dead person".
According to Vietnamese folk beliefs, the amnesty for dead people originated from the farming work of farmers in the past. Every year, every 6-7 months of the lunar calendar is in the harvest season. In order for the job to be lucky, without any problems, people often pray to the gods, the local ... to arrest demons, unjustly and from harassment. And on July 15, everything must be completed, that is also the time "the god forgives, the owner forgives the transplanter", "opens the prison of the death prison". On this day, people usually do a thanksgiving ceremony to the gods, a tribute to ancestors to pray for the souls to transcend and pray for family peace.END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.30/8/2020.
