Section 13
16th-38th place in Jetavana (year-552)
Ten days later, the Buddha, together with the Venerable Sariputta, Moggallana, Ananda and the 300 mendicants who left Rajagriha, went north, crossed the Ganga River to visit them abbot at Mahavana, the capital of Vesali. Vajji. Then the Buddha set out on the way to Kosra's capital, Sravasti. In the coming rainy season, you need to return to Jetavana to prepare for the retreat.
To Sravasti, the Buddha went straight to Jetavana. The teachers waited for the Buddha here. This year the mendicants and mendicants here are very well settled. Listening to the rumors of the upheavals in the capital of Magadha, people are anxious to see the Buddha for security and more accurate information. Khema led a group of female nuns to visit the Buddha. She was elected by the nuns to replace Pajapati, now 113 years old.
King Pasenadi returned to the Buddha immediately to visit. Buddha told the king about the events in Rajagriha. The Buddha said Videhi, the younger brother of the king, is still calm but sad in the heart. King Pasenadi also told the Buddha that more than a month ago the emperor sent his envoy to Rajagriha to ask King Ajatasattu to explain why there had been a detention of King Bimbisara and his two ministers. The delegation has not yet returned. He also informed the Buddha that in order to protest Ayatasattu's actions, the king had taken back the hamlets of Kasi where he had given birth to Magadha, the queen of Vishnu, as king of Bimbisara. do dowry
Season to settle. The monasteries around the capital of Sravasti are very numerous from the gathering place. Every two weeks the Buddha lectures once in Jetavana. The mendicants in the nearby clinics, after hours, boys gather here to hear the law. Grandparents like Sudatta Anathapindika and Visakha are devoted to the food and necessities of the mendicants.
Buddha teaches the Amitabha
After the opening ceremony of this year's retreat, in front of a large audience of laymen, mendicants, gods and great bodhisattvas sitting quietly listening to the Buddha's sermon, the Venerable Sariputta stood up from his seat, shoulder to shoulder right shirt down, kneeling on the right side of the earth,
- Buddha, just then at Griddhakuta (Vulture) Bhagavan has only queen Videhi way to rebirth in the Pure Land (Sukhavati) of Buddha amitābha (Amita buddha), we find that It is also a good practice, which can be adapted to the identity and desires of many people in this Ta-mu'i (Saha) realm. So, in front of today's large audience, wish the Blessed Buddha a clear teaching of this miraculous method.
- Awesome! hey! This is Sariputta, the teacher for the benefit of sentient beings at the right time.Tathagata will talk about the land of Sukhavati of Amita Buddha and the method of cultivation to be born in the pure realm. Please listen diligently.
- Well , we would listen hard.
- Sariputta, in the West, over a hundred billion Buddha realms, there is a world called Pure Land, where the Buddha is A-Di-Da are preaching. The reason why the world is called the Ultimate Bliss is because there are no suffering beings that are usually peaceful.
Sariputta, in the Pure Land, is full of precious things, trees, land, hills, rivers, canals and houses of gold and silver. The lotus is full of blue, yellow, and yellow, giving off a bright aura and aromatic scent. Often there are birds singing with harmony of the winds of the branches, which give rise to the wonderful music that makes the sentient beings feel refreshed, the Bodhi mind, penetrating the Dharma, always thinking of the Buddha. , France, increase. Therefore, in the Pure Land, beings with no idea of the three evil [1] , in contrast with the complete environment conducive to achievement of restraint. Moreover, beings in the Land of Ultimate Bliss are all due to lotus blossom, so the mind is pure bar, no male, no craving.
Sariputta, the reason the Buddha of the Land of Ultimate Bliss is Amida is because the Buddha emits innumerable auras across ten unobstructed obstacles. is Amitabha (Infinite). Buddha back amitābha effect is Amitayus (Infinite Life) as his life span, as well as of the people there, long boundless aeons period of life [2] .
Sariputta, as a good man who has heard of the Buddha, Six days, seven days, the time when the network is about to commemorate his name, Lord Buddha and the saints will definitely be present to receive him in the Land of Ultimate Bliss.
Sariputta, what we have just said is incredibly unbelievable for beings in this Ta'am realm, but these are honest words. The ten Buddhas say so and they all volunteer to bless those who practice the Pure Land Method.
Buddha just finished speaking, the great disciples immediately clap hands glorious said:
- Buddha, unbelievable, really rare, really wonderful, we would like credit life, liturgical practice and spread the Land method-do this.
Can Faith Be Born or Not? [3]
One day, 30 monks lived in the jungle to Jetavana, met the Buddha, bowed and sat down to listen to the Buddha. The Buddha knew that these monks were capable of attaining Arahantship, turning to the Venerable Sariputta for the good of the Faith as follows:
- Sariputta, do you think that faith, when fully developed, can lead to the attainment of no-emptiness?
- The Blessed One, I do not progress completely by faith in the Blessed One, not due to full development of faith in the Blessed One to attain the status of the Void. But of course, for those who do not know, do not see, are unaware, do not master with reason, with insight, what is Sanh, they must fully develop the faith in the Three Bao can prove to be Sanh.
Many of the nuns have heard, suggesting that the Venerable Sariputta has not exhausted all wrong view, since the Venerable has not yet put all trust in the Buddha. Buddha said:
- Teachers, Sariputta once said no one does not fully develop the five faculties (Credits, Tons, Mindfulness, Concentration, Hue) that can be directed. But Sariputta does not progress through faith in others, but rather by diligently practicing Meditation according to Dharma to attain sublime wisdom.
Then the Buddha said shelf:
People do not believe blindly,
He no longer works,
He has attained birthlessness,
No longer think good evil,
No desire for fame,
Is the most noble. (Dhammapada, Unit 97)
The Buddha taught how to build happiness [4]
The second lesson in this year's holiday season is the way to build happiness in this life. The Buddha said as follows:
"When Tathagata says life is full of suffering, which is the old dead disease, which is love, society, unexpected ... is to remind those who are passionate, seeking happiness in sensual pleasures Forget about the life of impermanence, the impermanence, the impermanence, the impermanence of birth, the suffering, and the like of a person with leprosy, forced to live in isolation in the forest. he was a dug, burned dry wood, burned red, and stood at the mouth of the pit, but his hands and feet, while doing so he felt very itchy and very happy When he came back to his normal life, one day he went back to the forest to see his sick friends. He felt so hot, could not stand it, had to stay away. Peacock-like smell of leprosy for leprosy patients, only sick people are pleasant pleasure. Healthy people stay away .
"When one realizes that life is suffering, those who seek happiness first have to find a way to eradicate suffering, to eliminate suffering, to know the root of it is delusion, Love is an impermanent body that is often thought to be impermanent, which is thought to be normal, craving for suffering is to be happy, do not know the law of cause and effect. hamstring, hamstring, hamstring, hamstring, hamstring, hamstring, hamstring, etc., Adoption is to say that it is true that the selfless, selfless self is self, self is self, self is self, self is not accept, accept, accept, accept, accept, accept. by persistenceThere should be disagreements, quarrels, and wars.
"Once you know the cause of suffering, you have to know how to eliminate it, eradicate all delusions, all desires, all persistence is the end of suffering, is the happiness of eternal truth, is liberated from birth death. That want to eliminate all confusion, all desires, all bigotry, they must know the Dhamma, meditation, morality pure, accustom life of dignity, minority education, contentment. the living According to the Proper Dharma, we will realize true happiness in the present , and progress to the saints from the tertiary, arrhyad-jayas, ananas, arhats and fruits. Buddha. E
The Buddha visits Sudatta on the bed [5]
After the sermon, Punnalakkhana, the wife of layman Sudatta Anathapindika, came to pay homage to the Buddha and informed the Buddha that layman Sudatta had been sick for nearly ten days.He is very sorry to attend this lecture. His illness grew worse, and he was afraid to see the Buddha before his death.
The next day, the Buddha, together with two Venerables Sariputta and Ananda, visited Sudatta.Mr. Sudatta sat on a couch, pale face. Give newspaper:
- Sudatta, he lived a meaningful and happy life. With great generosity, he has done with the suffering of so many people. The nickname of the heroine that he is bestowed on him. In addition, he also bought gold for the land, establishing the Jetavana monastery for the monks and nuns. The Sravasti people had many opportunities to study the Dharma. The virtue of maintaining his Dharma is great. He diligently lived the Dharma, creating happiness for himself, his family and for many in society. Now he should rest and heal. Tathagata will ask the Venerable Sariputta occasionally to visit him and guide his study. You should not try to get to the clinic right now, because the move will make you lose a lot of energy.
- Honor the Buddha, I obey you teach.
The Buddha taught Singala how to live virtuous life to be happy
Two weeks later, during the sermon, the Buddha told the audience of the Buddha's story of meeting Singala [6] (Thien-Sinh). One morning, in Rajagriha, while attending begging, the Buddha meets a young man named Singala who is standing in front of the house bowing to the east, west, south, north, above, under the reverence. Buddha approached asking him how to do that. Singala said that since he was young, he was taught by his father every morning to go to the six-sided yard. He only obeyed his father, every morning as a prostrate, but do not know what to do.
The Buddha says: To practice a happy lifestyle in the present and in the future. Oriental teaching is to reflect [7] how to treat parents . The south is to contemplate how to treat the tutor . The West is to reflect on how to treat wife and children . Teaching the north is to reflect on how to treat friends .The bottom line is to contemplate how to treat your partner . The upper path is to contemplate how to treat the sage . But the basic condition of the treatment is to preserve the five precepts (do not kill, do not greed for theft, do not commit adultery, do not lie, do not get drunk), do not act because of greed, anger, fear or delusion while not weak enough decisive factor . In addition, you must stay away from the six types of actions that can lead to the loss of fortune: drunkenness, wandering in the city late at night, going to gambling places, hang out with bad friends, and be lazy. Singala, he has to worship the six directions with such reflection is really meaningful and beneficial, because that action can bring him real happiness in life.
The Buddha says: True happiness is possible in this life, if we know:
1- Choose a career that is beneficial to many people.
2- Close to the good people, with good knowledge.
3- Parenting, caring for children and spouses.
4- Sharing time, material, happiness with others.
5- Gratitude, humility, low desires, know enough.
6- Choose a comfortable living environment for study and healing.
7- Live a pure and noble life.
Lastly, the Buddha set the example of Sudatta Anathapindika, a layman who lived the Dharma that brought happiness to himself, his family and many in society in the present life. This good action is also good people will bring beautiful flowers in future generations.
Madam Sudatta's wife, Punnalakkhana, was moved to tears. She stood on the white Buddha:
- Lord Buddha, the life of lay people is very busy, especially when I inherited a large fortune. I think if you have a normal business, it may be easier to learn. Many times look at the mendicant is not home, no door, no wife, no children, arms hugging bowls on the alpine roads, so leisurely, we wish to live like that. But we have too many responsibilities, too many constraints, do not know how?
- Punnalakkhana, the mendicant also has many responsibilities: to learn Dhamma, to practice meditation, to respect the precepts, to live pure life, to stay in the night in mindfulness, Benefit. As some lay people who want to get acquainted with the life of the mendicant, can apply for the Eightfold Path.
The Eightfold Path of the Buddha [12]
Or once a month, or once a month, or every three months, lay people who want to learn to live like monks can come to the temple to ask for the Eightfold Path with the chief priest. People life Uposatha world to live for a full day and a night in the temple, Life midday son, practice meditation, walking meditation, to live in dignity, [13] , conscious [14] , ardent, leisurely and peacefully just like the monks. After a period of one-and-a-half days, they return to earthly life, leaving only the three precepts and five precepts.
In cases where a lay person can not come to the temple, the lay person may request at least two monks to come to his house to be preachers, instructors and instructors during the Eight Days of the Eight Apostles.
The Eightfold Path consists of the eight precepts:
1- Not killing lives.
2- Non-robbery.
3- Not lewd.
4- Do not lie.
5- Do not drink alcohol.
6- No jewelry.
7- Do not lie and sit on a luxurious chair.
8- Do not use money.
These eight precepts are for the prevention of delusion [15] and for mourners [16] arising during cultivation. "Quan" means prevention. And "boy" means to eat only one vegetarian meal before or during lunch, to have time to cultivate.
Only the Buddha Eightfold Teachings, the laypeople that day was very happy.
Sariputta teaches Sudatta how to meditate at death. [17]
Ten days later, Sudatta's illness became severe, with Venerable Sariputta and Venerable Ananda visiting. Mr. Sudatta lies on the hospital bed. Sariputta and Ananda sat on a chair beside the bed.Knowing how Sudatta can no longer live, Venerable Sariputta declared:
- Mr. Grant-she-toxic Sudatta, he lived a life of noble and useful for families, for society and for teaching. During the recent lecture at Jetavana, the Buddha praised his merit. Everything is worth doing for you all your life. Now he should calmly listen to me and follow. Mr. Sudatta, you should visualize the following: the eye is not me, the ear is not me, nose, tongue, body is not me .
When the layperson figured out, the Venerable Master continued:
- Now he should continue to visualize the following: what I see is not me, what I hear is not me, what I smell, taste, touch is not me .
Stopped for a moment, the Venerable Sariputta murmured,
- You should visualize clearly like this: eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, mind is not me; color, flavor, taste, touch, dharma is not me; seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, touching, thinking, is not me.Because if I lost one or all of those 18 things, I would still be mine, not chipped. I am not constrained and limited in these factors .
Stopped for a while, Venerable Sariputta continued:
- Now you should visualize like this: this body is not me, this painful feeling is not me, this thought is not me, the transformation of the body and the mind is not involved what comes to me. Birth and death can not touch me. Birth does not make me have, death does not make me lose. I smiled knowing that the true self never gave birth nor never kill .
Practicing here, layman Sudatta smiled. Then suddenly tears ran down his cheeks. Venerable Ananda asked:
- Mr. Sudatta, why are you crying? Do you have any regrets? Did you contemplate unsuccessfully?
- Sir, I do not regret it. Thanks to many times to hear the Buddha lecture, so today I reflect very successfully. But I was so touched that over the past 35 years I have been serving the Blessed One and being close to the Venerable Masters, I have never tasted the profoundly profound teaching of today.
- He Sudatta, disciplines shop 18 Sex Discrimination and shop Prajna is the mendicants and female mendicant often heard the Buddha teaching always.
- Dear Venerable, please contact the Buddha with the Buddha to allow laypeople to hear to understand and practice this profound teachings.
The layman Sudatta Anathapindika died that afternoon. Two Venerable Sariputta and Ananda have stayed for a long time. According to the scriptures, after the last breath, Sudatta was reborn in the Tusita sky and returned that night to the Jetavana monastery with a light, flexible, light, well-balanced body. Buddha. Mr. Sudatta has three daughters, Maha Subhadda, Culla Subhadda and Sumana, and one son, Kala. All of them result in Tu-dà-complete, Sumana alone results in Tu-momentum.
The war between Magadha and Kosala [18]
The 38th holiday season has just ended, the mendicants have not time to go on the mission to hear the war broke out between Magadha and Kosala. The army of Magadha, personally led by King Ajatasattu, crossed the Ganga River near the town of Benares into Kosala. The party of Kosala, after being informed by the frontier troops, King Pasenadi was also involved in the invasion of Kasi. The army was too urgent, the king did not promptly announce and retired Buddha. The king asked Prince Jeta to meet the Buddha to present everything.
Buddha had been informed that after hearing of Ajatasattu plotting to assassinate his father, King Pasenadi protested by taking back a hamlet of Kasika village that King Maha Kosala had given King Bimbisara as a dowry of Princess Videhi. This tribe gave Magadha a year's worth of tax money worth a hundred thousand gold. King Ajatasattu, who had just taken the throne, wanted to consolidate his prestige in the country as well as foreigners, and then set foot on the battlefield to take back.
Venerable Sariputta informs the mendicant men and women where to practice right there, do not move much during the war. The Venerable also asked the Buddha to stay in Sravasti until the situation was quiet.
Two months later, people horrified to hear war minister Kosala has defeated three times in Kasika [19] . King Pasenadi and the generals had to withdraw their garrisons to the capital Sravasti. The situation is very urgent, thanks to the defense system in Sravasti is very solid. King Ajatasattu's troops pursued and attacked day and night, but did not defeat it. Then, thanks to the plan of General Bandhula, King Pasenadi coordinated the troops in the city and troops from the provinces promptly responded, opening a triumph overwhelming victory. King Ajatasattu and his subordinate masters were captured with over a thousand prisoners of war. The number of soldiers remaining, either dying or running away. In addition, the Kosala army captured many of the elephants, horses and vehicles of the enemy.
The war lasted more than six months. The Sravasti people were ordered to celebrate the victory. After arranging army and court work, King Pasenadi visited the Buddha at the Jetavana monastery. The King told the Buddha of the hardships of the war. The king said that Ajatasattu himself had caused the war so he had to fight for self-defense. The king continued,
Well, the Sun, Ajatasattu anyway called me with his intestine. I can not kill, nor put it in prison. Please teach me how to handle how?
- The great king, around the great king has many generals and loyal friends, so the king won this battle is not strange. But around Ajatasattu there are so many bad elements, so Ajatasattu has gone wrong paths, the court chaos, the public and people distrust, should fail. Tathagata recommended that the king should take the feast of King Magadha in the manner of a king treated a king. But the king must also have time to teach Ajatasattu as a nephew teaches. Emphasize the need for good friends and loyal followers. Eventually the king could order a farewell banquet to take the king of Magadha home. The peace of hundreds of them depends on the king's ingenuity.
Then the Buddha called a young mendicant named Silavat to come and introduce him to King Pasenadi. Mentor Silavat is a half brother to Ajatasattu, very intelligent. At the age of 16 he studied with Venerable Moggallana, at the age of 20 he sought ordination with the Venerable Master and became a prominent disciple. After the events in Rajagriha, Silavat was sent to the Jetavana monastery by the Venerable Moggallana.
King Pasenadi asks Silavat Venerable Rajavriha for royal status. Venerable reverently told the king what he had heard. Venerable said that a man from the capital of Magadha came here with the mission of assassinating the great virtuoso last year, but the great virtue transformed him and allowed him to be ordained. The other monk is studying in a center not far from the city.
King Pasenadi bowed to the Buddha and returned to the palace. King Ajatasattu was freed and returned to the country, and was returned by King Pasenadi to Princess Vajira and promised to return the village of Kasika to King Maha Kosala, father of King Pasenadi, to Magadha. With the love of eradication of hatred, King Pasenadi did according to the Buddha's teachings. King Ajatasattu is now both his nephew and his son-in-law.
17- Lower 39 at Jetavana (year-551)
The war was over but the painful remnants of the war left a deep impact on the soldiers and people of both Magadha and Kosala. Mendicants began their missionary work in the vicinity of their homeland to comfort, exhort and encourage the people to do good deeds, to love one another and help each other miraculously remnants of war. After a disaster or catastrophe, the more you see the temporary life, the life of impermanence, fame, wealth is still lost tomorrow; It is easy to return to the inner life, upholding spiritual values, towards the dharma. This is the most favorable time for the teachings of the mendicants.
18- Lower 40 in Jetavana (-550)
King Pasenadi passed on the construction of a new mansion for the mendicant congregation around the capital Sravasti. This new paradigm was named Rajakarama. The Buddha stayed in Kosala for two consecutive years, traveling all the country and settling down in Jetavana.
During this time, in Rajagriha, the capital of Magadha, Venerable Devadatta was no longer respected by King Ajatasattu. Of the more than one hundred mendicants still remaining with the Venerable, 80 have left the Venerable to return to the congregation of the Buddha at the Venuvana monastery. Devadatta is increasingly isolated. He was paralyzed on Mount Gayasisa for nine months, unable to go anywhere.
From the end of the war between Kosala and Magadha, King Ajatasattu no longer met the Venerable Devadatta, nor had any contact with the Venuvana buddhist congregation. The king was only close to the leaders of other denominations. However, the mendicants are still practicing peacefully. The people as well as the masters in Griddhakuta and Venuvana are looking forward to the return of the Buddha. Dr. Jivaka is also very eager to return to the Buddha.
The Buddha only how to improve the legal and economic [20]
After the holiday season in -550, Queen Mallika of Kosala died. King Pasenadi is too sad, visiting the Buddha to find comfort. Queen Mallika is the biological sister of King Bimbisara and is a worthy friend of King Pasenadi, greatly loved by the king. Empress is a pure Buddhist followers, intelligent, wise, deep understanding of the Dhamma. It was she who interfered with the king to kill the animals to worship the gods, and guide the king to follow the Buddha's enlightenment.
Suffering from the loss of his beloved mate, who had shared with him for over 50 years, King Pasenadi sought the Buddha. Sitting silently for a long time in the Buddha, the king felt his soul calm again. After comforting the king by reminding that life is impermanent, the sorrow is harmful, the Buddha advised the king to devote more time to meditation, and in old age should try to live according to the Dharma Good for the next life. The Buddha advised the king to seek reform of the judiciary and economy to bring peace and happiness to the people. The Buddha says the punishment of beatings, torture, imprisonment, and death is not the most effective way to prevent robbery. Encounters of famine and chaos, robbery, and natural violence increase. The authorities need to have a timely economic policy to protect people, such as reducing taxes, food, rice seeds, fertilizers for poor farmers,
King Pasenadi heard the Buddha finished talking, eager to spend more time to study and improve the economy for the people are happy.
Venerable Ananda also listened hard. Later on, you repeat this idea in the Kutadanta.
19- Lower 41 at Jetavana (-549)
One afternoon, after the settling season, Venerable Ananda saw the Buddha sitting back to the sun. The monks marveled, asking:
- Buddha, the Exalted often seen or watched the sun is out. Why today Sun worshipers sitting back to the sun?
- Ananda, today Tathagata feels a bit cold so sit back and warm up.
Venerable Ananda rubbed his back for a long time for warmth. Then he sat down, just kneading his feet to the Buddha, said:
- Buddha, I have been doing for Bhagavan attendant for 20 years. I remember a few years ago the color of the Sunshine gold shining. Now the skin is wrinkled, and the muscles at the foot of the Buddha shrink a lot. The bones revealed clearly.
- Living long, old, anyone? This year Tathagata is 75 years old. My eyes and ears are not as elite as before. Hey Ananda, Tathagata wants to return to Griddhakuta Mountain for a while. It is sunny and airy. Do you like to go back to the Mt. Linh Mountain to watch the sun rise and sunset?
- Buddha, if Bhagavan about Griddhakuta, I was very happy to be under the most Exalted.
20- Lower 42 at Venuvana (-548)
In the spring of -548, the Buddha returned to the capital of Magadha. He went leisurely. The route is divided into several stages so that the Buddha can rest a day or two at the infants along the way, and by the way he can teach and persuade the masters and laypeople in those places. The Buddha passes through Sakya, Malla, Videha, Vajji and eventually crosses the Ganga River to Magadha.Buddha visits Nalanda and Ambalatthika before arriving in Venuvana.
At close proximity to Venuvana, there was a large crowd of workers and the population was building walls and houses. Venerable Ananda inquired, knowing that King Ajatasattu was moving the old Raju in the valley between the mountains of Vaibhara, Vipula, Ratna and Sona, to the new Rajagata building north of Venuvana, for economic reasons. , political and military. The old jungle was in the middle of the mountains so the land was so narrow and inconvenient for traffic and defense. It seems that this plan was also planned by King Bimbisara. As far as Ajatasattu is concerned, he is now seeking reform.
After visiting and staying in Venuvana for two days to encourage and teach them to raise them, the Buddha and Venerable Ananda go to Mount Griddhakuta. The next Jivaka doctor visits the Buddha. He told the Buddha what had happened in Rajagriha. He said that nowadays Videhi Queen has recovered a peaceful lifestyle. She is a vegetarian, diligently reciting Amitabha Buddha, practicing meditation, and often goes to the Venuvana monastery to offer triptychs and learn dhamma. King Ajatasattu was haunted by the death of the High King, his conscience bitter his day and night, his spirit became depressed, or his head aches, he lost his temper and often dreamed of nightmares, waking up sweat run. Medical doctors often come to the king, so far the weakness has decreased, but the heart is not safe. The king no longer contact with Venerable Devadatta anymore, But not contact Truc Lam.The king invited the famous Makkhali Gosaleiputta saints, Sanjaya Belatthiputta, Nigantha Nataputta, Ajita Kesakambala, Pakudha Kaccana and Purana Kassapa to consult and treat mental illness.Everybody wants to please the king for grace, but no one succeeds.
Recently, the king invited the queen to eat rice with Queen Vajira and Prince Udayibhadda.Prince Udayibhadda was less than three years old, who determined to bring the dog into the dining hall that day. Ajatasattu child. But in the meal, the dog ran wildly, leaning on her mother. The king was a little embarrassed with the queen, saying:
- Taking the dog into the dining room is uncomfortable. But he could not bear to cry.
Empress Dowager said:
- I love your child should let him bring the dog into the dining room, nothing is strange. Do you remember the old days, your father because of the child's mouth to drink blood in the pus in the child?
- I do not remember, please tell my grandmother.
- One day, my index finger sore and swollen. A boil grows underneath the nail, aching to make you cry throughout the day and night for three or four consecutive days. My father fidgets every day to put his baby on his thighs, sucking his painful fingers in his mouth to pass on the warmth, hoping to ease his pain and make the pimple ache, soon bursting out. When the boil was ripe, his father used a mouth to suck the pus out slowly. By the end of the poisonous blood pudding, his father continued to hold his finger in his mouth, afraid to pull the pain. A moment later his father was choking, swallowing blood in his abdomen. (She said as she sobbed) She reminded me of this so I knew how old your father loved you. Now that I have much love for your child, so is the same.
Hearing the queen Videhi talked about, King Ajatasattu hugged his head to the room, leaving the meal unfinished. Empress sat quietly whispered a moment and then also go to his room.
When Jivaka came to the king, he heard all sorts of stories, from the nightmares to the consultation of the mages, but Jivaka kept silent. The king asked:
- Jivaka, why do not you say anything?
- I dare not comment on your private affairs. I will only speak with you. I think only Gotama Satan can help you get rid of the mind in mind. You should seek the Buddha to be taught by the Buddha.
Silence for a moment, the king said:
- I'm afraid Gotama hated me.
- You do not say that. Gotama does not hate anyone. The Buddha is the teacher of the king, and also the best friend of the king. His Majesty will visit the Buddha as well as to visit the king. Only the Buddha can bring peace to your Majesty. My medical skills can not do this. The Buddha is a yogi who can heal all sicknesses . Do not be afraid, Lord Buddha often teach disciples to practice compassion for the salvation of sentient beings out of delusion and suffering, then he himself does not practice them.
After the conversation, King Ajatasattu accepted to visit the Buddha.
The Buddha says Samantha-phala-sutta [21]
Dr. Jivaka Komarabhacca arranged a meeting between King Ajatasattu and the Buddha in his mango garden at the foot of Mount Griddhakuta. The king first encountered the Buddha on a moonlit night in the midst of the blooming season, around October, with soldiers escorting, and Jivaka led the way. As the mango garden approached suddenly, the king was frightened by the quiet scene. Jivaka told the king that the Buddha was living in his mango orchard with nearly a thousand mendicants, but here he heard silence without a sound, no shadow anyone. The king asked:
- Jivaka, are you tricking me into the realm of the enemy?
- Your Majesty, I do not dare. Maybe the Buddha and the monks are in the auditorium with the lights over there. Let's go there. Please do not doubt anything.
King down elephants, go with Jivaka and some guards. At the door of the auditorium, the king saw the Buddha sitting on a high preacher's lecture, in front of a few hundred mendicants sitting in bed, silent, hard to listen. The scene is solemn and warm. Dr. Jivaka came in to announce that the king was coming. The Buddha stepped out of the door to invite the king to the lecture hall, sitting in the high seat. Buddha open words:
- Grandpa, today Grandpa visiting Tathagata has something to ask, please keep yourself free.
- Buddha, Bhagavan station only heard once preached there in the palace, in hundred young.Today I would like to ask the Blessed One this question: What are the benefits of the spiritual practice that thousands of people have left home, parents, wives and children?
- Who has asked him the question?
- I have asked many famous teachers and teachers, but there are no answers to my heart, including the answer of Venerable Devadatta.
- Great King, today Tathagata will tell Dai heard about the fruits, the benefits of the cultivation of the Dharma. The fruits can be reaped right in the present, and the fruit can be harvested in the future. The emperor does not need to resort to complicated methods of reasoning. Monarchs, the fruits of cultivating not only for the enjoyment of saints, but also the wealth of the nation and humanity.
King Ajatasattu stood up, accepting the two glasses of white bow:
- Amazing! By the simple words of the Blessed One, the Blessed One has enlightened me, helped me to see the true value of the Dharma. The Buddha recreated what had fallen, revealing what was hidden, showing the way to the lost, illuminating the dark. I wish to be accepted as a disciple of the household, as well as the former Sun received the king and queen as a disciple of the Buddha.
After saying this, King Ajatasattu bowed respectfully at the feet of the Buddha. Then the Buddha agreed with gratitude, then asked Ven. Sariputta to guide the king and queen to take refuge in the Three Jewels and to maintain the Five Precepts. After the refuge ceremony, the king from the first century, asking permission to return to the palace. Give newspaper:
- Great King, do what Grandpa thought to do.
After that meeting, King Ajatasattu often visited the Buddha without the arrangement of the physician Jivaka anymore. The king also did not need to bring elephants with horses and escorts. King Ajatasattu also walked up the stone steps to Mount Griddhakuta like King Bimbisara in ancient times. From now on, King Ajatasattu would also become the very protector of the Buddha, like King Bimbisara.
Buddha says the Lotus Sutra [22]
After a few days of rest, the Buddha told the Venerable Ananda and his great disciples to inform the followers in the surrounding area about the Vishnu for a very important teaching.
On that day, the whole Griddhakuta Mountains as crowded as the fair. There are twelve thousand Arahants dressed in brilliant yellow robes, two thousand masters of the rational and uneducated, eighty thousand Bodhisattvas no change from the Buddhist realms, twenty thousand heavenly gods from heaven and long arc, King Ajatasattu (A-So-So) and the royal, progenitors and royal family are invited to hear the French.
In the beginning, the Buddha briefly mentioned the words "Infinite-Meaning of Bodhisattva Dharma Dharma Buddha" for the Bodhisattvas. Then the Buddha sitting cross-legged, entering the right mind "Immaculate Consciousness", body and mind of the Buddha are not shaken. It began to rain flowers mandara and Manjusaka, throughout the Buddha's echoes. The Buddha from the middle of the two white eyebrows pours out a golden halo illuminating throughout the eighteen thousand eastern divisions, down to Aphi Hell and above to the heaven-resurrection-wing. All audiences are happy to see the unprecedented, hands look reverent Buddha, waiting to hear the magic.
The Buddha from the right, told Mr. Sariputta:
- Sariputta, the wisdom of the Buddhas [23] is very deep, hard to see, difficult to understand, hard to enter. All of the bar-text with Prismatic sense are not known. From the moment we become Buddhists to the present, only the means of preaching, the four truths, the eight righteous actions, 37 the supporting ... to lead beings away from attachment. In fact, to express the profound knowledge of the Buddhas, the Tathagata never say a word. Besides the Buddhas, no one can understand.
- Buddha, Venerable Sariputta said, please Bhagavan expressed joy only profound knowledge of the Buddhas. I believe in this conference there are many people who have planted the good from many lifetimes will understand and happy life.
- Okay! Sariputta, if you say that, all the heavenly beings, asuras, will be terrified and suspicious, the monks upright will fall down.
The Buddha said here, in the audience, there are five thousand people stand up Buddhist and then leave. They think that they have been following Buddhist dozen schools for decades, have attained holy arahant, end defilements, be Nirvana, why today the Buddha is so despised, I do not need to learn. What's more. The Buddha remained uninterrupted. As the hall returned silent, Lord Buddha continued:
- Sariputta, now I can speak Tathagata, because the rising monk, not evidence that has proved, has left the hall, leaving only those who have pure wisdom. Please listen diligently, Tathagata will speak for you because of you.
Sariputta, the Buddha was born only because of a great cause and conditions is "open, enlightenment, enlightenment Buddha . " Buddhas use countless means, conditions, for example to lead beings to the Buddha. But because the Buddha is so amazingly profoundly incomprehensible, it distinguishes between three. [24]. Just as the long way is divided into many stages so that people do not hesitate long tired. But to each station to rest, people must know that they need to go further to the destination. Likewise, even now most of the teachers have come to the Arahant, the end of affliction, beyond birth and death, enjoy Nirvana, but that is not enough, you need to be more diligent to To attain the ultimate goal is the Immeasurable Enlightenment. Again, if one finds that he has been holy, then he is a monk, because the saint has truly ceased from self, ego, sentient beings, no longer see the fall and fell to do nothing. see the attainment .
- Supreme Lord, Venerable Sariputta said, children from ancient to far to Buddha, never heard such superhuman dharma. Today to hear the Buddha said dharma, I am very happy, please hear and remember.
- Sariputta, today Tathagata will be because of the bar saying that the Mahayana sutra name is "Dhamma Sutra United Bodhisattva Dharma Dharma Buddhist Church" . This Sariputta, to future generations, too boundless, boundless, inconceivable after life, after offering thousands of Buddha's memories, serving the Dharma full Dharma practice of the Bodhisattva, -Queang Lai
Next, the Lord Buddha would again sign to the Venerable Maha-Kassapa, who would become the Venerable Quang-Minh Tathagata, Venerable Subhuti, Venerable Maha Kaccana (Ma Ha Ca Chien Dien) will become the Buddhist name of Yogatara-Venus-Kim-Quang Tathagata, Venerable Moggallana (Moggallana) will become the Buddhist name of Madagascar - Chien-Doan-Huong Tathagata, Venerable Punna Mantaniputta (Phu-Lau-Na Man Tu) will become the Dharma Dharma-Minh Tathagata, Venerable Kondanna (Kieu Tran Nhu) Tathagata. Then the Buddha according to the class of life for all 1200 Arahant disciples will become Buddhas. Next, Lord Buddha would reign for Ananda, Rahula, and two thousand of the learned and uneducated would become Buddhas.
Five hundred of Arahants have been finished life Buddha, happy joy, from the seat up to the Buddha before the ceremony and said:
Well , we usually have the idea that we were eventually killed. So far it is known that no mind.We need more diligence to gain the wisdom of the Tathagata.
All audiences listening to the Buddha's life for over three thousand people will become Buddhists, are happy, is unprecedented. They are convinced that all beings have Buddha-nature , and the path of Dharma cultivation, though long, requires a lot of perseverance and diligence, but the progress will definitely come to the ultimate destination. Right Enlightenment .
At that time the Buddha turned to the Bodhisattva Bodhisattva:
- This King, in mass here, from gods to every monks, monks-ni, strong-she-rules, priority-she-di was rejoicing before Buddha hear Lotus Sutra The Tathagata is expected to be the highest level of right understanding.
If there is a reverence for life, reciting, explaining, transcribing the Lotus Sutra, even if there is only one verse, he should know who is going to become a Buddha.
Hey Pharmacy, if there are good men and women, after the Tathagata kill, want because four of them [25] said the Lotus Sutra properly, then he must go to Tathagata, Lai, sitting court Tathagata , then so because four of them that say this wide [26] . Tathagata is the great compassion for all sentient beings. Austria Tathagata is the nature of harmony, patience. Tathagata is the "all France does not" . When someone speaks the Lotus Sutra like that, the Tathagata, wherever he is, will also send angels, protectorates and karmic assists to support him in every way.
The Buddha mentioned here, there is a tower of seven treasures 500 by 500 weeks (10,000 km), 250 by the week (5,000 km) from the ground floating in the middle of nowhere [27] . The tower is decorated with treasures of magnificence, scent and perfume ... This pyramid, as a surreal painting, displays the fullness and generosity of "Buddha's knowledge" Equally for all audiences in the Assembly, the Buddha is solemn, dignified, pure, wonderful, inconceivable, all over space and time. But only those who abide in "nothingness" [28] can see clearly, and those who are short are required by the Buddha's power to "see nothing" can see. The Buddha proclaimed loudly:
- In the realm of Ta-she, who can broadly say the Lotus Sutra, the Tathagata will bring the business congratulations to that person, because no longer as Tathagata will enter Nirvana.
All audiences have seen the Dharma Body of the Buddha in the same building as the Shrine of Shakyamuni in the seven precious stones [29] , surrounded by countless buddhist buddhas. (use), while listening to the Buddha declared deputy business, the development of the mind to maintain the United States. The Buddha taught that the life expectancy of the Lotus Sutra for effective and quick success, the bhikkhu should be from the place of his Buddha nature that the mind 30 and the economic development and at the same time must practice the generosity, Patience [31] , Effort, Meditation and Wisdom [32]. The virtue of the French economy like that is so immeasurable victorious, boundless, to the point of necessarily the brains. Again, such people maintain economic soon to be six apartments purity, each flat has fullness of merit [33] .
When the audiences had the courage to develop the Dharma of the Lotus Sutra, the Buddha recited the example of the Bodhisattvas who had preserved the Lotus Sutra like the Bodhisattva Precepts, Bodhisattva Diệu Âm, Bo Avalokiteshvara, Bodhisattva Samantabhadra. In each story, the Buddha stated the method of the Lotus Sutra of the Bodhisattvas, and the inconceivable benefits of the Lotus Sutra.
All listeners from the great bodhisattva to the layman listened to the Buddhist doctrine of the Lotus Sutra, they are happy to know that they have available the Buddha nature, Will vow to practice diligently until the ultimate goal is Supreme Immeasurable.
At the end of that season, Jivaka, a physician, was 55 years old. He was given the Vimala Kondanna.
When the season is complete, the Buddha continues to stay in Griddhakuta under the care of medical Jivaka. The health of the Buddha is greatly restored. By the spring, the Buddha set off to go to the north, then back to Jetavana to enter the 43rd.
21- Lower 43 at Jetavana (-547)
Pajapati Nihon and Venerable Rahula died
This rainy season, the Buddha settled in Jetavana monastery. Pashapati Gotami died last winter (-548) at Vesali, at the age of 117, months after the Venerable Rahula passed away at Jetavana, at the age of 48. Venerable Rahula is best known as the first almanac novice [34] . The departure of the teacher makes the residence season reduced to some living gas. Especially the teacher Svastika felt very much lost. I lost a friend who needs attention to remind the teacher and guide each glass. At present pilgrims also see relics of the relics of Venerable Rahula (No. 12) at Jetavana, next to the southern fence.
King Pasenadi murdered General Bandhula
King Pasenadi traveled until mid-season settling back to the capital. As soon as Sravasti arrived, King Pasenadi went to the Jetavana monastery to visit the Buddha. The king told the Buddha that because of his age, he did not like to stay in the palace forever, so he often went there to relax and have a chance to enjoy the natural beauty. The king assigned the mandarins to the mandarins, only carrying a small entourage to go sightseeing in and out of the country. On this occasion the king is free to practice meditation, fun scene leisure. King Pasenadi continued:
- Dear Brother, I was 77 years old this year. The Blessed One too. I have heard recently that the Blessed One also often travels to places of interest. But to where the Buddha also brought the Dharma light to teach and guide people to learn. I go on vacation, only to be comforted, benefit from his part.
Then the king confided to the Buddha about his deep sadness for many years. The number is due to the coup attempted to overthrow the capital five years ago, after defeating Ajatasattu's army, King Pasenadi has condemned the commander-in-chief of the royal army General Bandhula and executed him. Nearly a year later the king knew that he was wrong. The king regretted so much. Bandhula was both the old school friend of the king in Taxashila, and the one who had great merit in defeating the Magadha army. The king sought to restore Bandula's honor and compensate his family. In addition, he also raised his grandson Karayana as commander-in-chief of the royal army.
With the Buddha settling in the capital, King Pasenadi often goes to the Jetavana monastery almost every day to hear the sermon, or hear the Buddha point to more difficult places for the mendicant, or to practice meditation and walking meditation. The rest of the season, the Buddha again on the way to teach, and the king also with his entourage to travel around.END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3TIMES ).VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=THICH CHAN TANH.THE MIND OF ENLIGHTENMENT.VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=GOLDEN LOTUS MONASTERY=AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.28.9.2017.
