Ananda Bodhi tree at Jetavana monastery [1]
The Buddha left the capital Campa of Anga, traveling northwest, to the village of Lechanankala in Kosala. Then from Lechanankala to Sravasti in early June. The Buddha resides in the Pubbarama monastery, where the Loc-lecture Hall is located. Visakha visited the Buddha and said:
- Buddha, he wandered around the merchandise, just before the rainy season in Sravasti. Our disciples often remember Buddha, to the clinic is not met. Sad, we only know three rounds around the net of the Exalted and leave.
- Visakha, when there is no Tathagata, there are also teachers and her to learn about catechism and practice. Do not for the absence of Tathagata that neglect the study.
Venerable Ananda asked:
- Buddha, the object can be used to beings worship, offerings, every remembrance of the Buddha? Blessed Sun just teach.
- Hey Ananda, there are three types. The first is the body related (Sarira, amnesty), the second is the paribhogika, the third is the memorial (Uddesika). Beings can worship, offering them when remembering Tathagata.
- The Blessed One, while the Exalted Son, who should create the image or built his tower?
- Do not. Things for beings to worship offerings related to the body should only be created after the Tathagata died. Things worth giving birth ceremony worship and memorial of the Buddha is completely spiritual, no material basis . The three types of objects mentioned above are only symbolic. But the huge Bodhi tree that once had sheltered the sun for the Tathagata was a worthy object to be worshiping offerings , whether the Buddha was in the world or had passed away.
- Buddha, the Exalted go sermon afar, vast Jetavana Vihara no longer helpless. From remote to Jetavana, devotees do not know where to worship, offerings. The Blessed One allowed me to take the seed of the mother of God in Uruvela to plant near the gate of Jetavana.
- Really, Ananda, grow up. To do that, as always, there is a Tathagata in this place [2] .
Venerable Ananda and Visakha are very happy. Ananda thanks the Venerable Moggallana for bringing Sravasti a ripened fruit from the Bo tree in Uruvela. Ananda Ananda offered this fruit to King Pasenadi. The king handed over to the layman Sudatta Anathapindika planted. The nun Sudatta planted a tree near Jetavana's gates. This Bodhi tree is named Ananda Bodhi Tree. Visakha planted a tree near Pubbarama's gates.
Twelve Causality (Paticca-samuppada [3] )
One day, in the lecture hall at the Jetavana monastery, during the sermon, the Buddha said [4] :
- Hey mendicants, all beings were predestined copper 12, also internal, also foreign. The twelve causes are: Mind-brain past called non-intelligence ; past kamma is called onion ; In the present life, at the beginning of pregnancy is called consciousness ; Five parts of the conception, not four (eye, ear, nose, tongue) called rupa ; when full four apartments called continental enter ; Not to distinguish between pleasures called contact ; to distinguish suffering as called feeling ; love near the five desires called love ; Ask for things inside and outside called hands ; By virtue of things inside and outside that initiate the body, speech, mind, called property; The present life is called the future birth ; Current identity, identity, contact, life, called the future , illness, death . All beings from birth to aging have all 12 such conditions; except for the premature baby at the time of inadequate 12. beings are not real life color 3, 3 kinds of contact, 3 love, no old, sick, but also considered complete. There are no colors, no sense of touch, feeling, feeling, old, sick, but also considered complete 12, because the decision is so. Therefore, it should be said that beings are full of 12 conditions.
Stopped for a moment, Lord Buddha continued [5] :
The Tathagata, remembering past lives, when not attaining Enlightenment, alone in the desert, dedicated to quiet meditation (samatha) and vipassana (vipassana), began thinking as follows: "The dilemma of the world is birth, old age, sickness, death, change, life expectancy." But they are relying on life as ignorance of those tribulations. We immediately started thinking in order to find the source of the suffering of beings. I wonder: "France should have a BLOOD, what do you have grace to have a SANH?" After contemplating, we know "Yes HUU [6] should have a SANH, because the coast should have HANH Q. "I again asked" What French should have ORGANIC, what do grace should have ORIGINAL? " [7] should have HUU, charms should have ORGANIZATION. "I again asked" what French should have THU, what do grace should have THU? "After careful consideration, we know" , pre-winking, thinking, thinking in the heart so craving growth. Because there is Ai should be THU. Enlightenment PRESTIGIOUS , PRESTIGIOUS FAMILY , FAMILY FAMILY ,FAMILIARITY , SAFETY , FAMILY , FAMILY , BUGS , BUGS , BRAINS . Thus, Ai itself is the source of suffering.
Hey saints, what do you think? For example, thanks to the oil, the heart of the lamp, the lamp is lit. If you add oil and heart, will the lights be bright for a long time?
- Well , that's right. If the oil and the heart as much, the longer the fire.
- Hey mendicants, as well as, if for six ceiling of color, sound, smell, taste, touch, legal but as grasping, wrecked before, think, enjoy, lingering, craving increases. The more and more people, the property, birth, aging, disease, death, good, ball, suffering, as well as increase. Therefore, we must know that love is the cause of suffering.
Hey monks, I ask myself again "France should not have no old, sick, death? After contemplating the wall, we know "If there is no birth, there is no old, sick, death. I ask myself again, "What should not be without birth? After contemplating the wall, we know "If not, then birth, if not kill, then kill."To continue contemplating like this, we know, "If you do not, then you are not, if you do not, then you do not, then if you kill, then kill, kill, then kill, destroy, then kill, illness, death, goodness, bi, suffering, brain are all kill.
Hey saints, what do you think? If you throw out the heart of the lamp, pour out all the oil, the other fire or not?
- Buddha, no heart and the oil lamp to turn off course.
- Yes, the teachers, if to approach the teachers are not grasping, whereas the master boot shop impermanent, impure, suffering, no, leave education, detachment, cessation, the mind does not want, Do not remember thinking, not before sinking love is not born. When love ends, birth, old, sick, dead, dead, suffering no longer where to be present, to exist.
Buddha said this business is complete, the mendicants are happy to worship.
In the evening, Venerable Ananda to sit next to the Buddha, said:
- Lord, the Paticca-samuppada is important, because this business indicates the practice of liberation. But I find this business is not difficult, easy to understand and remember. As Svastika first heard the first time but also smoothly, no wonder.
- Hey Ananda, you should not think so. This business is very deep understanding. You only understand the current level of the teacher only. You do not understand all the high meaning of business. You should continue to contemplate to find out more. Wisdom as Sariputta teacher is also not fully understand the high meaning of the twelve causes.
Venerable Ananda recalled the conversation between Venerable Sariputta and Venerable Maha-Kotthila several months ago while still in Griddhakuta. One afternoon, after sitting meditation, Venerable Sariputta came to Venerable Maha-Kotthila, asked each other joyfully, and sat down to talk.Venerable Sariputta says [8] :
" Brother, I have something to ask, are you free to answer?
- Brother asked, what knows I will answer.
- Brothers, how? Are you old?
- Yes.
- Are you dead?
- Yes.
- The old man is made by himself, or made by others, or whether he himself was made by others, or not himself is not made by others, not made by anyone?
- Brothers and sisters, old and dead are not made by oneself, not by others, not by others and by others, not by oneself, by others. Just because there are birth should have died old.
- Thus birth, possession, love, love, feeling, exposure, six sense, nama [9] is made by himself, made by others, both himself or others, or not himself nor is it done by others, not by anyone?
- Brother Sariputta, the name is not made by oneself, not by others, not by oneself and by others, not made by anyone. Just because there is consciousness [10] should have rupa.
- Brother, is self-made, made by others, both by himself or by other people, or not himself is not made by others, not made by anyone?
- Brother Sariputta, is not self-made, not made by others, neither made by oneself nor made by others, neither by ourselves nor by others. Just because there is a rupa (six and six), there is consciousness.
- Brother Maha-Kotthila, brother said before "because of consciousness should have identity".Now, he said, "because there are so many good qualities." Why do you say the opposite?
- Hey Brother Sariputta, I would say for example, the wise listen closely to understand examples. For example, the three mops were erected together in the vacant land, by relying on each other to stand up. If one tree is removed, the other two trees can not stand; If you remove two trees, the other one will not stand. The three reeds must rely on each other to stand firm. Knowledge and mentality too, we must rely on mutual newly born [11] .
- Awesome! Awesome! Brother Kotthila (Question-hy-la), in the disciples of the Buddha's thirst, the brother is the wisdom communicated, smartly subdued, not afraid, see the French dharma. Due to the dharma that full experience. Brother Maha-Kotthila, with unquestioned discourse, answered all questions about the profound meaning of the twelve causation. As the precious jewels of the precious world above my head, I respectfully receive the teachings of the brother.
- Brother Sariputta, old and dead is a boring disaster; want to end old death must be sex, eradicate craving. When you know the boring birth, possession, love, feeling, contact, six sense, rupa, rupa must be abandoned sex, eradicate craving. Existence, eradication of craving is the Dharma-master of monks bhikkhu old boring death. The place of communication, eradicating the six consciousness is the method of education, eradicate craving to free themselves from all worldly constraints, out of samsara. That is the true Dharma teacher.
Brother Sariputta, in the disciple of the Buddha, the wise, clever subdued, fearless, the French dharma, the French dharma himself fully experienced, that is the Brother Sariputta. Thanks to the dexterity of the wisdom of the mind, precious as the priceless world is the world people cherish on the head, so I have the opportunity to answer and learn more.
The Venerable Ananda thought, "The two sages Sariputta and Maha-Kotthila responded so well that the Buddha said that they did not understand the meaning of the twelve causes. this topic ".
In the 12 conditions, cultivators should pay close attention to the three most important causes are Ignorance , Consciousness and Enlightenment . Because these three conditions are most easily eliminated to be freed. Another noteworthy point is that what is born out of ignorance? Buddha says ignorance is not original. In the Mausoleum-Nghiem, Buddha said "tri-tri-tri ignorance". Meaning: From the pure, real, non-discriminating, the non-discriminating of the Enlightenment, the perception that distinguishes the subject and the object, then becomes entangled in the six faculties. the root of ignorance.
Want to deduct ignorance, must learn the teachings to know (Enlightenment) our Pure Mind, then practice daily with that Pure Mind by contemplating impermanence, suffering, not, not self.
Want to eliminate consciousness and love, you must stay in the Pine, ie to keep the six bases are pure, not infected with six ceiling, not born caring, not born sense consciousness.
Buddha allowed to eat after lunch and keep food overnight during illness
In this year's retreat at Jetavana, there are many martyres with malaria. Many sick-o green-green, not enough to hug the alms bowl. They have to lie in wait for other masters to beg for food. But most foods are rice or chapati [12] with curry juice, which is too hard and dry for the sick. In this case, Visakha and the lay people brought to the porch offering porridge of milk, honey, fish sauce and oil for the sick masters.
One day, the Buddha heard crows screaming in the yard. The Buddha stepped out of the am see some of the mendicants are feeding crows of precious food has been specially donated to the sick. These masters were appointed to look after the patients. They told the Buddha that the reason for having to eat this precious food was because there were many masters who had fever in the morning so it was not possible. Over time they can not eat anymore. Food is not allowed to spend the next day should be brought to the raven. So some patients have to fast for a few days. The Buddha taught:
- The teachers, from now on, during the illness, the masters have the right to life after hours, and also have the right to keep food until the next day, but must notify the leader (team leader) in advance. .
Venerable Sariputta was slandered when a young monk [13]
Venerable 24th complete, Venerable Sariputta farewell Buddha to set out the way. Buddha wish him to go on the road peacefully, body and gentle, met many favorable conditions on the way of education. Venerable Sariputta gave thanks to the Buddha, from the mendicant and soon followed.
A while later, there was a young mendicant, who was not praised by the Venerable Sariputta, who came to the Buddha and complained that he had been rebuked by the Venerable Sariputta. How the Buddha asked how not. The young monk replied:
- Buddha, I find this question Sariputta brothers going for the trip. I asked him where to go. He did not answer but pushed the child down and left without apologies.
Buddha told attendant Ananda:
- Ananda, Sariputta is not far away. Please ask a novice to seek the Venerable Sariputta here.Tonight we will meet them at the auditorium to handle this.
Venerable Ananda obeyed. That evening the Venerable Sariputta returned to the abode with the sainthood. He presented with the Buddha. Give newspaper:
" Sariputta, we will be meeting tonight in the lecture hall. Some masters accuse him of shoving him and leaving without apologies.
That evening the lecture hall was not lacking in anyone's face. Everyone wants to know how the Venerable Sariputta will respond to those who have long been jealous and angry. Everyone knows that Venerable Sariputta is a great disciple of the Buddha, very beloved by the Buddha, and so he was the target of many misunderstandings and jealousy.
Over eight years ago, also at Jetavana Vihara, a centurion named Kokalika [14] very hostile two Venerable Sariputta and Moggallana, nobody was discouraged. He told Sariputta and Moggallana all false practitioners, often acting in craving. Once the Buddha called the teacher and said:
- Kokalika, do not say that Sariputta and Moggallana are the ones who are subjected to craving. They are people with genuine morals and temperament very gentle.
But Kokalika was angered by his anger, so he did not believe in listening to the Buddha. Finally he left the monastery to leave. Then he suffered from a very strange disease. His skin became rough, and then he grew spontaneously growing small pods of bean seeds, growing up with beans, then bursting out, filled with blood. Any medicine can not cure. The Buddha told him about the clinic for treatment, but he refused to return. Then the network master. The Buddha was very merciful, teaching that:
- Teachers, anger is poison to the cancer of the soul, sabotage the body and can cause accidents or strange diseases . Teachers need to be careful not to let the poison of hatred into the minds of the teacher.
Back to the meeting that night. When the Buddha entered the lecture hall, all the masters stood up and lowered their hands. The Buddha invited everyone to sit down, and he also sat down in the courthouse, signaling the Venerable Sariputta to sit in the low chair on his right. After everyone sat down, silent, the Buddha turned to the Venerable Sariputta:
" Sariputta, the mendicant says he pushes him down and leaves without apologies. So, before the mass, please make clear how that happened.
Venerable Sariputta stood up and clasped the Buddha's hand and said,
- The Blessed One, brothers and sisters, a person who has not cultivated, is not aware of the body, is not aware of the mind, has no sense of his actions and words, such a person can poke fell a friend of his and left without apologies.
Lord, I remember the old lesson The Blessed One taught Rahula when he was 16 years old, about 13 years ago. The Buddha taught Rahula to study the four virtues of earth, water, wind, fire to nourish four virtues, compassion, joy and equanimity. That day I was also present. I have learned and practiced that lesson for 13 years.
I've been practicing like earth. The land is always solid, vast, vast, capable of receiving and transforming. Although people pour clean substances such as perfume, fragrant milk, or spilled on the soil, stinky like feces, urine, blood and pus, the soil always receives them. equanimity, no praise, no love. Lord Buddha, I have often considered mind and body as the land. I can not take action to knock a friend out and leave without apologies.
I have practiced like water. When people pour fragrances into water, or when people wash dirty things in water, water is always calm, equal, not compliant, not hated. The nature of water is always vast, flowing, has the capacity to neutralize and purify themselves. Lord Buddha, I have often minded body and mind like water. I can not take action to knock a friend out and leave without apologizing.
I've been practicing the wind. The wind blows away fragrances or foul odors that are never meant to be compliant or hateful. Wind is equal, immense, flowing, has the capacity to neutralize and purify.Lord Buddha, I used to mind mind and body like the wind. I can not take action to knock a friend out and leave without apologies.
I have been practicing fire. The fire burns all the beauty, the bad, the clean, the dirty, the fragile, the bad without ever feeling covetous, humiliated, angry or bored. Fire is equal, burned, has the capacity to neutralize and purify. Lord Buddha, I have often contemplated body and soul as fire. I can not take action to knock a friend out and leave without apologizing.
Lord Buddha, often self-described as a baby lineage ragged, ragged clothes, hugging bowl in the village begging. In my heart there is no sense of conceit, always humility. I can not take action to knock a friend out and leave without apologizing.
Venerable Sariputta also wanted to say more, but the mendicant accused the Venerable got up, stepped in front of the Buddha, kneeling down bowing to the three prostrate, then clasped hands:
- Lord, I broke the precepts, I accused brother Sariputta unfairly. I repent before the Blessed One and the public for the purification of the precepts, and vow not to repeat it.
Give newspaper:
- You have received the error in public and repentance is very good. Great people have accepted his repentance. So Venerable Sariputta should also let the mind to be calm, gentle.
" The Blessed One," said Sariputta, "I have completely ignored this.
Then the monk turned to the other monk, continued:
- I also asked brothers happy to ignore the mistakes I made in the past made brother sad.
The mendicant accused him of stepping in front of the Venerable Sariputta, who bowed and bowed three times. They are very happy. The atmosphere is very open and relaxed.
Catvari pratisaranena
After the season of residence, Buddha traveled many places in Kosala. One day he came to the town of Kesaputta of the Kalama tribe. Young people seek to meet Buddha is very crowded. They had heard Gotama but never met. A young man asked Buddha to hand:
- Ladies and recluses Gotama, some time has many masters visited Kesaputta to teach morality.Everybody says that only their teachings are good and often criticize the other teachings. We are confused, we do not know who is right who is wrong, we are all born doubt. Sa-subject is a master of enlightenment, please tell us who to believe in and who should not believe in anyone? Who is right and who is spreading heresy?
- Hey children, Buddha said, if you have the birth of doubt, it is only natural. You do not believe in anything even if it's what people say, even if it's in the scriptures, or if it's a celebrity. You should only accept and believe what is right with your mind, which has been agreed by the ancient sages, which when brought into practice will bring good results for all. people [15] .
- Please tell us more clearly for us to understand.
- Hey children, such as having a person to be ambitious, anger and delusion in his mind, then he and the people around him happy or miserable?
- Master, ambition, anger and delusion that lead to crime. So the person and people around him often suffer.
- So living in ambition, anger and ignorance is the way of life that the sages accept and encourage? Is it a way to bring good results to people?
- No.
- For example, some people who live in harmony of compassion, compassion, joy, and equanimity, often bring joy to those around them, often help those who are in need, do not try to gratitude and human error. So he and the people around the happy or suffering?
- Bach teacher, living in the way of life, words, joy, discharge, not only brings joy and happiness to those around him, but also happy and happy.
- Thus, "to live in the virtues of compassion, compassion, joy, and equanimity will bring joy and happiness to oneself and to all" is to be rational, which is accepted and encouraged by the saints. The thing that when put into practice will bring good results for yourself and the people around. That is what they should accept, should practice and encourage others to practice.
The children, beyond the rational to comment, directing learners also need to know the angle to approach the Four-y [16] (Catvari pratisaranena) as follows:
1. Medical Justice, any medical personnel (Dharma pratisaranena bhavitavyam, na puggala pratisaranena) should understand and learn the teachings, rather than insisting on the name or the general appearance of the speaker.
2. Y means, any medical terminology (Artha pratisaranena bhavitavyam, na vyanjana pratisaranena) should be based on the meaning, not to accept the language, script.
3. Y position, regardless of medical knowledge (Jnana pratisaranena bhavitavyam, vijnana pratisaranena na) is so lucid wisdom to learn teachings and practice, rather than relying on the senses (6 mode) or emotional (feeling and love) his.
4. He put his business sense, regardless of any medical meaning willow (Nitartha pratisaranena bhavitavyam sutra, sutra na neyartha pratisaranena) should follow the business is the only true truth, not to accept not only correct under the contract of truth.
The student will certainly follow the Proper Dharma, not afraid of being misled.
" Master, today is the first time that we have heard a teacher teaching rational things, not believing in a blind faith in a divine or a dogma. . We are very happy as the person who is in the dark house gets the light, like the lost in the forest, find the way out. We respectfully request that you give us refuge in the Triple Jewel, as your disciple.
The Buddha happily accepted.
A monk like a log floating in a river [17]
The Buddha went south to Alavi, then west, along the banks of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers, toward the Kosambi capital of Vatsa. One day, standing on the banks of the Ganga River, the Buddha saw a large log flowing in the flow of water to the east. The Buddha called the mendicants, showed them the driftwood and said,
- Teachers, the logs if not caught on the two banks, if not picked up or decayed decay, will go on like that until the day to the sea. Teachers, too, on the path to follow the Dharma, if teachers are not entangled in the pitfalls of everyday life, if teachers are not dragged out of the path of progression, if teachers not self-deprecating, then surely the teacher will also go to the ocean of complete liberation and enlightenment .
- Lord, please clarify for us to understand.
- Teachers, "not trapped in the trap of daily life" is not entangled in the six sense doors and six ceiling, when the six bases exposed to the six ceiling are not born six consciousness. When six consciousness is not born, six are purified. Then the teacher will be free, no longer afraid of being trapped in the afflictions of life anymore.
"Not being pulled from the path of progression" is no longer infatuated with sensual pleasures in this world anymore. Due to the skill of mastering the world, talent, identity, real, lobes are no longer attractive to teachers anymore. On the contrary, the teachers will enjoy the serenity, peace in meditation and mindfulness.
"Do not be self-deprecating" is when the teachers have understood the teachings and have done many good results. Then the teachers will firmly believe in the Three Jewels and firmly believe in the ability to become their own Buddha.
Teachers, learn the Dhamma, firmly believe in the Three Jewels, maintain the precepts, practice meditation and mindfulness, nuns are the means necessary to bring the teacher to liberation from suffering, born, old, sick, dead. Definitely not wrong .
While the Buddha stood on the banks of the Ganga River teaching novices, a 16-year-old buffalo teenager stood nearby. This teenager named Nanda, with the same name as Nanda, his half-brother to Buddha. Nanda heard the Buddha preach, very much. Em mon men approached the Buddha to follow the Buddha as a mendicant. You say:
" Sunnah, Nanda's name, I want to be like the solemn mendicants. I want to study like them. I promise to try to do the things of sathra taught to be like a log to the sea without being caught on the shore, not being picked up, nor decay decay. I asked him to take his son as his disciple.
- How old are you?
- Sa-son, 16 years old child.
- Do you still have parents at home?
- Dear father and mother are all lost. I have no brothers, relatives. I just kept the buffalo for the rich and the rich in the village only.
- Can you eat one meal a day?
- Yes, I've been eating like that for so long. Every morning, we take the buffalo to the field, bring the rice to eat, in the evening to return the buffalo.
- Nanda, should be 20 years old to be accepted into the mendicant congregation. But I have the desire to cultivate Tathagata to allow children to join the congregation as a novice to practice the monkhood. By the age of 20, she was ordained as a monk. Now you should go to the buffaloes to pay for the owner, then I would like to allow the master to stop work. Finished me back here meet me.
- Sunshine, you can go with sa-mon now. These buffaloes are very clever, they know their way back to their cages when it's dark.
- Yes, but you have to drive them to the barn. Deliver them to the owner properly. Then apply for leave. Then Tathagata can give children to follow the congregation.
" I am afraid that when I return here, I will not see him again and again."
- Do not worry. We will stand here waiting for you.
Nanda was happy and hurried back to the barn. The Buddha turned to Svastika:
- This Svastika, Tathagata entrusted to instructors and teach the baby this herd.
Svastika hands clasped hands. He is 33 years old. He was introduced to the Buddha in the village of Uruvela at the five Kondanna brothers had just left. At that time he was nine years old. Parents died early, he had to go to buffalo for a loving boss to feed his three children: a younger brother named Rupak, seven, and two sisters, five-year-old Bala and three-year-old Bhima. After the Buddha's enlightenment under the Bodhi tree, he was acquainted with two sisters, Sujata, the village chief's son, who taught them to read and write, and material help to support their three children. . In recent years, during a trip across the village of Uruvela, Svastika saw the tent of his parents, who were so old and dilapidated. Three of his brothers are family, children and own house. Rupak, after marrying his wife, went to work elsewhere. Two sisters are Bala and Bhima, After being married, they stayed in Uruvela, and each had a son and a daughter. Among them many children also go to the herd of buffalo as the old teacher ...
Svastika remembered that Rahula was 30 years old. He remembers what Rahula taught him when he first joined them, 13 years ago. He remembered the Buffalo Buffalos of the Buddha lecture after the new monk was a few months. I will vow to bring all my life and teacher experience to teach the nanda nanda again. Just thinking about it, Nanda was back. Svastika returned to the present moment. He told Nanda to come near him and let him know that he would be his instructor in his study, Yoshida. That evening, Nanda was given a hairdo. This new monk was shown how to wear a shirt, holding a bowl and walking, standing, lying down, sitting in accordance with the Dharma.
The Buddha teaches about the Noble Eightfold Awakening [18]
The Buddha went to Kosambi city for a while, then he set out for Rajagriha. One day, sitting in Bhesakala garden in Sumsumaragiri city, the Buddha told the mendicants:
- Teacher, today Tathagata wants to tell you about the eight enlightenment of the great (Bodhisattvas). This is the subject that Venerable Anuruddha had contemplated and discussed with the Tathagata in the Garden of Ceti, when the Venerable is hiding there. According to the Venerable Anuruddha, these are the eight practical subjects that a Bodhisattva who is enlightened should bring to teach those who are deluded:
The first is enlightenment that all dhammas are impermanent and not self . Observing the impermanence and non-self of dharmas avoids suffering and gradually attains liberation and peace.
The second is the enlightenment that more and more desires are more suffering . Reducing desire, life less pain.
The third is the realization that living simple (low education) is a source of peace . People know how to live simple life time and energy to practice and help life.
The fourth thing is enlightenment that diligence must be attained to attain enlightenment .Lazyness and enjoyment only lead to the falling into the world of mind and mind.
The fifth thing is that enlightenment that live in ignorance and trafficking will be imprisoned eternally in the misery of samsara . Only the clear life of mindfulness and awareness leads to the attainment of wisdom, enlightenment and liberation.
The sixth thing is that almsgiving is a very effective way to help yourself and help, both physically and mentally . It is through the gift to kill new mortality and mortality.
The seventh thing is the enlightenment that the practitioner in the life to the chemistry, must always keep a simple lifestyle, transparency, high moral standards, the compassionate discharge of harmony that treat all people .
The eighth thing is to realize that all living beings share the same Buddha nature . All beings are equal and deserve respect, for they are capable of becoming Buddhas. Therefore all actions, words, thoughts are aimed at self-interest, self-sense, to reach the sense of fullness.
The teacher, the great (bodhisattva) are all through reflection and practice according to the eight things that are enlightened. When they came into their lives, they also brought the Eight Enlightened One to reveal and educate people. The teacher who developed the Bodhisattva should also practice in parallel with the practice of the Six.
The Buddha finished talking, the masters are happy to remember and serve.
The Buddha visits Vakkali's dying mendicant. [19]
Arriving at the Venuvana monastery in Rajagriha, the Buddha was told that the Venerable Vakkali was seriously ill, looking forward to see the Buddha before his death. It was the attendant of the Venerable who came to pay homage to the three Buddhas at the feet of the Buddha and said:
- Buddha, he was seriously ill children, is at home a lay potter. The teacher told me to replace him, reverently bowed down three times, the forehead touching the Buddha, invited the Buddha to bless the son.
- Okay, this Ananda, let's visit the Vakkali Venerable.
When the Buddha and the Venerable Ananda entered the door, Vakkali struggled to sit up, but he could not sit up. Buddha back down teacher and said:
- Hey Vakkali, do not try to sit. Lie down comfortably. I and Ananda sit on these chairs okay?
Buddha and teacher Ananda sit down, then asked Buddha:
- What is your current health condition? Was there any remission recently?
- Well , the disease is not reduced at all. Your health is getting worse. I feel very upset. In my body every bit of pain.
- Is your mind safe? Are you worried about regret?
- Buddha, the anxiety and regret that a long time I wanted to visit Bhagavan that I could do it.Fortunately today I was looking at the face of the Buddha, so I was satisfied.
" Hey, Vakkali, we need to see each other's face close together. Every time the teacher diligently practice, the world is pure as there are Tathagata on the side. The five-body warmth has 32 good generals, 80 this beauty is also a temporary fake. The pure mind of the teacher and the pure mind of the Tathagata is no boundary, there is no separation.
Silence for a moment, the Buddha asked:
" Hey, Vakkali, do you see body as impermanent? Do you miss it?
- Buddha, you see very clearly. Your child's health is losing momentum by the minute. Your body is also dying and perishing hour by minute. Your feelings and perceptions also fade away. I do not nurture this body because it is hurting me now, and I do not see what is really yours, what really is me.
- Luckily, this Vakkali, all things are impermanent and without self, but "the universal knowledge is impermanent, there is no self" is the knowledge of the Buddhas, the buddhahood of the Buddhas, Buddha Tanh, Chon Tam of all beings are never destroyed. Want to prove the Chon Tam often, lost, net, it must first get rid of the self, France.
Vakkali smirked, and then two rows of tears flowed down, he said:
- Buddha, in this difficult moment I have been blessed territory invaluable teachings of the Buddha. From the day that the Buddha was ordained, I often contemplate "all things are impermanent, no self" and "all beings have Chon Tam, Buddha full of four virtues, lost, net" . But today he heard the Buddha's reminder at this hour. I feel so happy, so happy, I would like to thank the Sun. Now I feel my mind is perfectly safe, my body is not aching anymore. I would like to make an appointment to see the Blessed One in Dhamma.
Venerable Ananda fell in love. Buddha said:
- Goodbye, Vakkali, master of courage. As Lai is always beside him.
After the Buddha and the Venerable Ananda stepped out of the door, Vakkali told his attendant to carry the whole bed to the Isigili ridge, under the shade of a large tree. He lies calm in his mind until late afternoon, he passes away.
On this news, Lord Buddha told the mendicants:
- Vakkali was liberated.
The Buddha taught how to overcome suffering [20]
Staying at Venuvana and Griddhakuta for two weeks, the Buddha set off for Nalanda, then Vesali. At the Kutagara lecture hall in the Mahavana Dhamma, one day the Buddha taught the masters how to overcome the suffering. He said:
- Teachers, life is the tank, which is to live, old, sick, dead, love, ohan society, bridge. So there is no one in this world without much suffering. But ordinary people, the cultivator, the one who realizes the fruit of suffering different feelings. Ordinary people, due to greed and greed, increase the suffering, the greater the feeling of suffering. The cultivator, the bear suffering, does not increase the suffering but does not know how to reduce the suffering. The sage, meditating on meditation and contemplation, makes the six bases of the net return to feelings of suffering gradually descending. The greater the power and the mind, the six pure bases, the less the painful feeling decreases until the end.
Then the Buddha said shelf:
E Cultivators based staff,
E Keep eye ear nose tongue
Yours sincerely ,
E Ultra from suffering. (Dhammapada, Articles 360, 361)
The Buddha holding a stone raised, asked:
- Teachers, stones in the hands of Tathagata here and Mountain Gayasisa (Statue-Head) Which is bigger?
- Lord Buddha, compared with Mount Gayasisa, the stone in the hands of the Sun is very small, almost meaningless.
- Also, the teachers, the same misery, people do not know there is religious feeling Gayasisa large as mountains, still has feelings holy suffering only by stones.
Hey teachers, for example, someone hit an arrow. That person feels pain. But if a second arrow flew to the right spot on the wound, the worst would be greater than the other. And if a third arrow flew right in the wound, the pain would be a hundred times greater. Teachers should know that delusions, anger, ignorance, greed, hatred and delusion as well as the second and third arrows make the feeling of suffering increase and multiply.
Teacher, when a holy man entered the city, no matter whether there are 500 vehicles passing by in front, or thunderstorms are not disturbed, all feelings are quiet. He always feels peaceful, never feels harassed. For him there is no fall and fall, the roots and the ceiling is no longer where to give birth and wake sense.
Teachers, practitioners of the righteous abode, are methods of eradicating sensations, including feelings of distress [21] . The six faculties for the six ceaseless births six senses have no causation to arise.
This t hay, when about common destiny , the teacher should concentrate on the reflection body, feeling life [22] , the mind [23] and the object of the mind to see clearly that the body, feelings mind and object of mind are impermanent, tranquility, no self. That reflection alleviates suffering and helps the teacher to be calm and alert. Next, the teacher should recite the Buddha's name or sutta so that the mind can be purified for being born in the realms .
Today, the mendicants were listening to a precious time unprecedented so teachers are happy to remember and serve.
Ignorance, behavior, and identity in the 12 karmic conditions [24]
As the first downpour dampens the summer heat, the Buddha leaves Vesali, heading for Sravasti. This year, both men and women alike have settled in Sravasti.
At the lecture hall "Migara-matas-pasada" in the Pubbinda parish (Pubbarama), while the Buddha taught more about the moral condition, a mendicant stood up white:
- Buddha, 12 predestined, taught by Bhagavan formula that mentality . So is this entire universe arising from mind-consciousness?
- That's right. Master, the "name" refers to things invisible, whose names are without the generals. "Lust" refers to things that have generals such as scents, lights, sounds, and objects that can be touched. All nåma and virtue exist because there is perception . If there is no discernment, what is the basis for saying something or not?
- Buddha, if the mentality arises from knowledge , then indeed form the origin of the universe and everything. So can we know the source of consciousness? Can we understand where there is consciousness? And when is the mind?
- Teachers, the idea of the beginning and the idea of the final also arise from the mind. In fact, there is no beginning at the end, there is no existential nor non-existent. One should not say that cetasikas arise from consciousness, but have to say that cetasikas have rupa . Because of ignorance, new sentient beings have the notion of discrimination on the basis of ignorance, so new sentient beings have the notion of existence and non-existence. name and color). In other words, due to ignorance should be active and awake. Onion is the flow, transformation. Consciousness is knowledge of the distinction. Action and awake together that have. Because there is "movement, change" there is "knowledge of the distinction". Due to the "knowledge of the distinction", there is a "flow, change".Then it is that distinctive consciousness that brings beings into the cycle of birth and death. Only when that distinctive consciousness is eradicated will the cycle of birth and death end.
- Buddha, Bhagavan said, "within samsara without beginning and without end", why speak of the "round of rebirths termination"?
- Teachers, teachers should know, "round birth and death" is not real. It is only delusion, an illusion created by the "consciousness of discrimination". So when the cessation of consciousness distinguishes the illusion of "ring of birth and death" is no longer. What is the picture is not real things, what can not have in common?
- Buddha, he puñña · Mantaniputta (Phu-Lau Man-From-Na-Tzu) asked, ignorance is the first element of the 12 conditions. So where does that have ignorance?
- Punna Mantaniputta, ignorance has no root, not due to coast charm. Tanh Giac (Chon Tam) is always pure clarity, knowing all without a sense of distinction. Tanha can not arise ignorance. In the pure sense of awareness that sudden realization of the realization of the difference between subjective (subject and object) [25]. The perception of the distinction is non-intelligent. Ignorance has been born so not real, then what is original. Ignorance which is hope so all the see by ignorance arise are delusions, delusion, not real. For example, this lecture-line, beings use the sense of distinction, depending on the sense of the six sense that the lecture is true. The nobleman used the wisdom to see the hall only see the land, water, wind, fire mixture to communicate with each other only. If using the Buddha's eye view, only see the full of Enlightenment, because the land, water, wind, fire are the same foot, same foot. All are calm, clear. [26]
The Buddha looked over the crowd, then said:
- Mendicants, beings from hope to accept the sense of discrimination, for that is true, for it is true (self) or self (self-esteem) so must be transferred birth and death in the three realms (sex, form and formless). Now that you want to attain Bodhi, Nirvana, want to return to the primordial sense, first of all to eliminate the "sense of distinction" , transfer all the damage to the status quo-static ( quiet, staff station) of Chon. Use the bowl of wisdom, reflecting on all things to prove and not fall. So long as the birth and death of samsara will no longer be where to be.
What is Right View?
Stopped for a while, Lord Buddha continued:
- You should know the path of liberation that Tathagata called the Noble Eightfold Path. Right Understanding is the basis of Right Thought, Right Speech, Right Action, Right Livelihood, Right Effort, Right Mindfulness, and Right Mindfulness. Because there must be the Right View before you can practice the other seven. But what is Right View? - Right is seen like the men know all things as facts, not feelings and consciousness distinguish deception.
Venerable Ananda knelt kneeling white hands:
- Buddha, we were foolish not know "see them as" is seen like. Please show more joy.
- Ananda, I ask you very well in time, Tathagata will hear more about hearing. Listen to them. If in the moment of knowing, there is the idea of yes / no, big / small, good / bad, / bad, right / wrong, right / wrong ... is not true, because of feeling and consciously distinguish fool. Right view is to know by wisdom, in which there is no notion of yes / no, good / bad, right / wrong, etc.
- The Lord, what is known by wisdom is elegant?
- See with the wisdom of the noble is to know that all things are impermanent, consistent, no self, so are equal, no sense of distinction: all harmonious, a whole body called Chon Tam Chon, Tanh Giac.
The silent mendicant, hard to listen, understand that the 12 conditions are only the continuity, the new Enlightenment is the feet, want to see the Enlightenment to practice Right View. All are happy to see that their path of cultivation is full of brilliant future, will certainly lead to the fruit born.
The Buddha says Ullambana sutta [27]
Venerable Moggallana (Mendi-Kien-Lien) is a very diligent practitioner of meditation. At every free time, he often sought the place where he sat in meditation for many consecutive hours. A few days ago, he witnessed five of the six miracles. Lucana (Abhinna) is the six powers that are meditated on the samadhi. Greenwood includes:
1. God label (Dibba-cakkhu): Can see all things big and small in the realm of Education and realms.
2. God atrial communication (Dibba-SOTA): You can listen to all the great little sound in the realm and the realm Sac Education.
3. Tha clearinghouse (Ceto-Pariya-nana): It is possible to know the thoughts of sentient beings.
4. Spirit sufficient information (iddhi-vidha): In a moment, can make to anywhere in the realms and realms.
5. Additional network (pubbe-nivasanussati): It is possible to know the past life of a being.
6. Gonorrhea make informed (asavak-Khaya): perspicacious mind, no negativity and delusion, and know how to show others to be like his practice.
After attending the seminary, for several days, he tried using his new abilities. Then he suddenly thought of the image of his parents. Do not know where your parents are now? I remember when he went with the Buddha through a parade. There is a large pile of bones on the side of the road. Buddha quietly walked to the heap bone. The monks find it very surprised, do not understand why the Buddha bones heap bones. Ananda asked,
- Buddha, he is the one Enlightenment, is the master of all heaven and the human world. Why today Sun worshiping the heap of bones.
- Teachers, the Buddha replied, beings in the three realms of life, Sac and Formless immersed in the cycle of birth and death, not very sad. In innumerable births and deaths, there may be relatives. In this huge pile of bones there are certainly bones of our own or our own parents in many previous lives. As Lai bowed to the bone to pay homage to the gratitude of parents in many previous lives.
Mr. Moggallana thought, "The Buddha, when he saw the dry bone, remembered his parents for many generations, so today we try to find out where our parents are now." Mr. Moggallana used the celestial eye to see the heavens, not see his parents. I search in the human realm to see his father living in a well-braun family, but still have not seen where his mother. He tried to find it out but still did not see it. Master very surprised, then try to look at the realm of ghosts, he saw so many tragic scene, misery, hunger due to negative karma, hatred, greed, the previous generation. Suddenly he saw the shadow of a mother like a teacher, a woman thin as dry skeletons, hair, ears, painful face scared, eyes looking at each other looking for food to fight with ghosts. other. You see for a moment that it is true that your mother, Moggali, is in a tragic situation. Master Moggallana immediately revealed to his mother in front of his mother, he called:
- Mother! Mama! I'm Moggallana here. Do you miss me
The hungry ghosts are fighting, including his mother. Mrs. Thanh-Ðue saw the teacher suddenly arrived, solemn appearance, brilliance bright, then panic, collapsed to bow down. Mr. Moggallana sat down on his mother's shoulders, then tenderly said:
" Mom, here I am, you are Moggallana. Do you miss me
- Ờ! IN! Moggallana here? Why did you come here? How did you come here !? Here is a miserable child! I'm so hungry, do you have anything for me to eat?
- Yes. Please sit here waiting for me, for a moment you will bring food.
He vanished during the stretching of his arms and back again with a bowl of hot rice and aromatic curry. She saw, happy, rushed out of the right hand grabbed the bowl, then left the left bowl bowl. She said:
- Watch out for the starving people to eat all your mother.
Then she just cover the bowl, just eating, eyes are watching the evil specter. But oh my! As soon as she reached the mouth she felt the rice hot as fire, hurried away. She was afraid of hurrying, she hurried to pick up another rice to bring up the mouth, but again hot, she throws out again. In a moment the bowl of rice has run out and she has not eaten anything yet. Mr. Moggallana, in the face of such tragedy, was also helpless. Years of miracles of teachers do not help your mother. Mr. Moggallana, feeling pity, retired mother, returned to Jetavana monastery, to hear the Buddha. He bowed at the feet of the Buddha and said:
- Buddha, I just came to see my mother in life preta. My mother's misery is so miserable. I bring rice to the mother for her child that she can not eat. Every time the rice is brought to the mouth, the rice becomes hot as fire. Lord Buddha, how can the Buddha teach you how to save your mother out of the preliminaries?
" Moggallana, your filial piety has touched the gods, it is a good example for posterity. But even if he has enough years of miraculous power, he alone can not save his mother from the ghosts. Want to save his mother, he must ask the power of the monk current and the Ten Jewels, hope to escape.
This is Moggallana, on the day of self-perfection (pavarana), monks are full of virtue purity. I would like to take this opportunity to give him the opportunity to enrich his life with all the precious food and fruits, incense, oil, candles, beds, clothing, medicine and daily necessities. The teacher's patronage is devoted to the parents of the seven generations [28] of the monk, who is drenched in rain, calm and calm.
Then the Buddha turned to the mendicants continued:
- Teachers, from now on, on the day of self-service, if there is a hospitable host to welcome the ceremony, offering to increase the demand for parents and grandparents, the duty they are first To meditate intentionally, devote themselves to the parents of the seven generations of the benefactor, then offer food at the Buddha table, then to be self-service.
Soon, to the end of the day, Venerable Moggallana according to the Buddha's teachings, Ullambana (Ullambana) offerings to raise boys to pray for the mother. By the force of ten Tam Protection anniversary, she Moggali (ADD-DE), his mother Moggallana, from the hungry ghost realm suddenly rise to healing, repentance of sin, soon was reborn in heaven Guangzhou-fruit [29] (Vehapphala). Master Moggallana used the celestial see that, very happy, came to pay homage at the foot of the Buddha to give thanks. The Buddha also welcomed the filial piety of the teacher, and told the mendicant should teach the Vulcan of this kind of notification to the public to know.

Venerable Punna Mantaniputta [30] traveled to Madeira [31]
Venerable Punna Mantaniputta (also known as Purana Maitrayaniputra) is the son of a monk at the reign of King Suddhodana (Pure- Sanskrit). Venerable with 29 friends have left the Buddha after the first one, near Loc-Uyen. Venerable is one of the 10 great disciples of the Buddha. He is famous as the best disciple.
On the day of fulfillment, the Buddha sent the Venerable Master to come to Judaea. The people are famous for being evil and violent. The Buddha said:
- Punna Mantaniputta, it is rumored that the people of Madeira are very violent and violent. So can you afford to come to that country teaching or not?
- Buddha, I go there to advise you and to guide good thing, the right thing, there are benefits for them. I do not think that's why they booed or scolded me.
" Punna, if you were lecturing while someone was booing and scolding you, what do you think?
"Well , I would think that they are still kind to you, because they only booed and scolded their mouths, not throwing rocks and defilements into the baby.
" Punna, what if you stoned and stoned the teacher, what do you think?"
- Lord, I would think that they are still nice to you, because they only stoned rocks and defecation on the child but not to the side with the rod beat me.
" Punna, if someone comes to you, what do you think?
- Lord, I would think that they are still nice to you, because they just beat the child with a rod, but not with sharp knife to kill children.
" Punna, if someone brings a sharp knife to kill you, what do you think?
- Lord Buddha, I think that dying for the dharma is a great pleasure, and so they have helped me to be satisfied, and they also help me escape this life of negativity suffering and suffering.
- Awesome! Punna, you have the full power to educate them. So be prepared to go out to Takealo. Tathagata believes that he will achieve many good results.
Venerable Punna Mantaniputta serves, arriving in Judah to spread the Dharma. Within a year, he was made 500 people as laymen and ordained for 500 people as mendicants. Later he entered Nirvana Nirvana here. In the Fa-Flower Society, the Buddha vowed that he would become the Buddha-Dhammaprabhasa Tathagata.
Buddhist business theory "Hai Bat Duc" [32]
Spring next year, the Buddha travel to the east. He arrived in Vesali, Campa and along the Ganga River to the coastal zone, the Bay of Bengal, to educate. One day, sitting on a rock by the sea, Venerable Ananda told the Buddha:
- The Lord, sitting on the beach, watching the breath with fresh air, eyes watching the waves rolling up from the sea, rising higher and higher as she ran to the shore, then shattered into a The white foam fills the sand, or hits the big rocks, splashes high, the bass melodies echo, the natural mind rests in the present in a comfortable way. Lord, you see the scenery here is indeed a good aids for the practice.
Buddha nodded, silent.
Another day, during the alms round, Venerable Ananda had the opportunity to talk with a fisherman on the beach, he asked:
- Hey, I just came to the sea for the first time so I felt very excited about the scenery here. As long as he lived here long ago, how do you feel the landscape here?
- Teacher, I was born here and now live with fishing. I would love to live here. I love the sea.Daddy too. Three children taught me about the eight virtues of the sea as follows:
1) The beach has gentle sand dunes that take us slowly into the water, making it easy to drop and pull the net.
2) The sea is always in one place, so anyone who wants to go to the sea knows right away.
3) The sea does not accept death. When there is death, the sea always pushes it to the beach.
4) The sea accepts the water of all rivers, whether it is the Ganga, Yamuna, Aciravati, Sarabhu or Mahi rivers. Which river to the sea, also dropped its own name that harmonizes with the sea.
5) Although night and day, the river continuously poured water into the sea, so the sea is not so when it is full.
6) Where sea water is also salty.
7) The sea contains a lot of coral, distant and precious.
8) The sea is home to the comfort of a myriad of creatures, with species larger than elephants, smaller than the thread.
Teacher, sea for my precious children. The sea is my life, my joy, my heaven.
Venerable Ananda is a bit surprised at the fluency of his young fisherman at 25-26 years old. He has dark tan skin, bright round eyes under his thick eyebrows and high brow, facial expressions always cheerful, mouth speak very charming. That afternoon, he told the story of the meeting between the teacher and the fisherman.
The next day, after the time near the forest near the coast, in front of the mendicant and a large number of local people, the Buddha said "Hai Bat Duc" as follows:
- Teacher, you, if we pay close attention to the sea, we will see vast ocean, containing and sustaining countless beings. This is because the sea has many virtues. The teachings of enlightenment and liberation of Tathagata also have many noble qualities that you should know:
1) The beach with gentle sand dunes can take us slowly into the water, which makes dropping and pulling the net easy. The Dharma of the Tathagatas also. The Dharma comes from the easy to the hard , from the dry to the deep, from the worldly way to the worldly one, to help all people of all levels, levels and identities, from the young to the old. From the less educated to the intelligentsia, from the nail to the kingship, anyone can find in the Dharma some practice that suits their abilities and hobbies .
2) The sea is always in one place, so anyone who wants to go to the sea knows right away. The Dharma of the Tathagatas also. The Noble Eightfold Path, 37 Noble Truths, Impermanence, Suffering, No Selflessness, Five Precepts, Ten Precepts, Specific Precepts ... are all immutable truths, making anyone want to practice all know the way to go, the course should be practiced, can not be mistaken.
3) The sea does not accept death. When there is death, the sea always pushes it to the beach. The Dharma of the Tathagatas also. The Dharma never tolerates ignorance, indulges in lust and laziness . Cultivators who pursue these three things will soon be pushed out of the Dharma.
4) The sea accepts the water of all rivers, whether it is the Ganga, Yamuna, Aciravati, Sarabhu or Mahi rivers. Which river to the sea, also dropped its own name that harmonizes with the sea. The Dharma of the Tathagatas also. Any person of any class in society is equally welcomed into the mendicant congregation, leaving behind all of his past glory or shame .
5 ) Although night and day, the river continuously poured water into the sea, so the sea is not so when it is full. The Dharma of the Tathagatas also. Although there are many followers or few followers, whether they are high-ranking people in society or there are many people in the lower classes in society, the value of the Dharma is not so increased. or reduced. The person who cultivates the Dharma is always achieving sainthood.
6) Where sea water is also salty. The Dharma of the Tathagatas also. Anywhere, at any time, righteousness is just one, that is the liberation .
7) The sea contains a lot of coral, distant and precious. The Dharma of the Tathagatas also. Cultivators of the Dharma practice will be given many precious things, such as quadriplegics[33] , nephews, truces, regular ones, peanuts, slippery feet, chooth .
8) The sea is home to the comfort of a myriad of creatures, with species larger than elephants, smaller than the thread. The Dharma of the Tathagatas also. In the Dharma there are many saints, from the Great Bodhisattvas, the Arahants to the newly arrived Enlightened ones feel very relaxed, comfortable .
Behold, the sea is an inspiration, an endless treasure. The Dharma of the Tathagatas also. Righteousness is an inspiration, an endless treasure.
In the audience today the fisherman talked to Ananda yesterday and was invited by the teacher to hear the sermon. He was surprised to hear that the Buddha repeats the eight great virtues of the sea that he just told Master Ananda yesterday and inserted eight virtues of the teachings into it. He feels that the Buddha sermon is good, so easy to understand. On the way home, he still like hearing each ear, every voice of the Buddha. Going to the fishing village, he told the story to those who have not heard and encouraged them to listen to the Buddha's lecture next.
The dividing germs are not worth worrying. [34]
Leaving the coastal area of the Bay of Bengal, the Buddha returned to Pataliputta (now Patna) on the banks of the Ganga River. From Pataliputta, the Buddha went north to Vesali. Then from Vesali, the Buddha went north-west, to the city of Samagama in the Sakya kingdom. Here the Buddha is believed to be the contemporary Niniantha (Jaina) preacher, Nataputta who passed away in Pava. He is 72 years old. The Nigantha dynasty congregation is severely divided into two groups that oppose each other in both doctrinal and organizational terms, leaving practitioners at home very distressed and wondering who to follow. Of his 11 large disciples have many sad losers, hunger strikes follow master.
Sundar Cunda, attendant of Venerable Sariputta, went to see Venerable Ananda and told the story as he heard it as Venerable Sariputta traveled in Pava City. After telling the Buddha about the split of the Nigantha sect, Ananda said sadly,
Well , how can you avoid the division of the congregation after the death of the Buddha?
- Ananda, have you ever seen the mendicants dispute and quarrel over the content of the teachings?
- Buddha, I have not seen any fraternal dispute and quarrel about the content of the teaching. But I think when the Exalted in the world, thanks to the virtue of the Buddha, everything is easy, peaceful. But once the Blessed One has entered Nirvana, the congregation lacks the leadership of the Blessed One, which can lead to disagreements and disputes over the precepts, organization and activities. I remember the previous dispute at the ghosita clinic in Kosambi on the ninth floor between two groups of lawyers and lawyers made the friars and the laywomen troublesome.
- Hey Ananda, do not worry too much. As long as in the congregation there is disagreement and disagreement on the basic doctrines, such as the Four Noble Truths, impermanence, suffering, no, no-self. afraid, because that proves that the Dharma is no longer fully understood. The disputes about morality, organization and activities, belong to the details are not very worry, not to the Dharma.
Despite being reassured by the Buddha, Venerable Ananda was still worried. New teacher heard at Vesali, Venerable Sunakkhatta [35] , previously worked for the Buddha's attendant, convent to charity and this has left a monk because of privacy discontent. Sunakkhatta began to lecture against the Buddha and the congregation. You say Gotama sahana is just ordinary people, nothing special, and Gotama's teachings only bring personal liberation, no benefit for society. Sunakkhatta began to panic in the masses. This is what the Venerable Sariputta knew.
In addition, Venerable Ananda also heard of the divorce that was born in the congregation of Rajagriha. Venerable Devadatta is secretly organizing an independent almanac congregation, based at Gayasisa Mountain, about 50 km southwest of Rajagriha. Devadatta collaborated with many good teachers such as Venerable Kokalika, Kotamoraka Tissa, Khandadeviputta and Samuddadatta. Master Devadatta is one of the outstanding disciples of the Buddha. It was Sariputta who repeatedly praised the Venerable Devadatta during their meetings in Rajagriha. Venerable Sariputta treats Venerable Devadatta as a good friend. Yet recently the Venerable Devadatta has been jealous of the Venerable Sariputta and even the Buddha.
Ananda does not know if anyone has submitted to the Buddha these cases. Particularly teachers, teachers find it very afraid to tell the Buddha so sad.
Buddha teaches the French Indo [36]
The rainy season this year, the Buddha entered the Jetavana monastery in the capital of Sravasti, Kosala. One day, at the beginning of the holiday season, Venerable Ananda, insecure in heart, fear later in the mendicant congregation will have a dispute over the Dhamma as happened in the Nigantha cult.He invited the Buddha to point out the basics of his doctrine:
- When the Blessed One, when the Exalted Sun, then know how to teach the correct Dharma, is the truth taught by the Blessed One, which teachings are not true Dharma, not taught by the Buddha. Is it
- Luckily, Ananda, there is the Hindu Dharma mystery to recognize the Dharma . Tathagata will say, you keep your mind pure, hard to listen. The French seal is the seal that validates the authenticity of the Dharma. There are three kinds of pressures are infinite , non-self and Nirvana [37] .
1) The first is Anityah-sarva-samskarah, also known as the most inexhaustible Indo -Indoctrination or the most Indo-French. Hey, Tathagata says all conditioned things in the world are infinite, impermanent is the cause of suffering. Being confused, for ordinary impermanence is often accepted, is fun, so suffering and suffering cycle. To say so is the Buddha said; It's not right to say that ghosts say.
2) Second, France Egolessness India (Niratmanah-Sarva-dharmah), also known as Indian Egolessness Necessarily France. Hey, Tathagata says that all conditioned and unconditioned dharmas in the world are not-self, not real. The beings are confused, for not falling self is a fall, then it is the self that becomes a house full of afflictions, and become karmic force beings into the line of birth and death. To say so is the Buddha said; It's not right to say that ghosts say.
3) The third is the Nirvana-Static Imprint (Satamnirvanam) also known as Nirvana-Independence. Tathagata says calm, pure and wise is true happiness, is Nirvana . Being confused, chasing pleasure in the world, for it is fun, is pleasure, is happy, do not know it is the cause of greed, anger, delusion, affliction, suffering. To say so is the Buddha said, say not exactly like that ghost said.
You, any doctrine or a doctrine that does not have these three Hinduism, certainly that doctrine, that doctrine is not of the Tathagata . These three stamps are also the three doors to enter the world of liberation. So Tam Phap Indo is the Trillium, you should be diligent in that practice.
The Buddha just finished, Venerable Ananda, Venerable Sariputta and the great disciples came out to pay homage to the Buddha. Venerable Ananda said:
- Lord Buddha, the French Dharma of the Buddha is precious! I will take all my strength and life to preserve the Dharma of India throughout my life and pass it on to the posterity.
Venerable Sariputta said:
- The Exalted World, The Exile of the Blessed is truly magical! I will take all of my ability to guide and explain to the fraternity to begin the torch of wisdom of the Exalted to the posterity.
Study catechism in your mother tongue
The next day, two great virtues Yamelu and Tekula to the Buddha's retreat asked permission to rewrite the Buddha's teachings in Sanskrit. These two virtues are siblings, of Brahmin lineage, famous for literary literature, ancient Sanskrit syntax in the Vedas. They are also famous for chanting the Vedas, the voice of two very masters, in a brass bell, as loud as the drum. Two masters came to Buddha and said:
- Lord, we want to ask the Buddha's permission to rewrite the Dharma talk of the Buddha in Sanskrit. While preaching the Blessed One often used the Pali language at Magadha. But the Pali dialect is very different today, the propaganda often encountered obstacles. Mendicants, when using the Pali dialect to preach to the people, sometimes inadvertently distorted the mind of the Blessed One.We think the ancient Sanskrit has been universally ubiquitous everywhere. So if the teachings of the Buddha were written in Sanskrit, all masters and lay scholars have a uniform and accurate documents, not afraid of being biased.
The Buddha was silent for a moment and replied,
- Teachers do not like this also. Dhamma is a flexible entity. Language, literature is the means of carrying the teachings, must be the language being used can be easily absorbed by the population. If you present the teachings in an ancient language, only scholars or intellectuals will understand. Thus the teachings will become a statue and not a living person anymore. Hey, Yamelu and Tekula, monks and laymen, should learn the teachings in their mother tongue. Thus the teachings are flexible and easy to understand.
Understanding the Buddha, two great virtue Yamelu and Tekula pay homage Buddha and back out.

What should I do when I know I'm dying [38] ?
One day, the Buddha was walking meditation to the gate of Jetavana monastery, the distance of King Pasenadi just stopped in front of the gate. Two people are standing chatting, there are seven Nigantha wanderers passing by. They are ascetic, naked, hairless and whiskers, long fingernails. In seeing them, King Pasenadi apologized to the Buddha, then walked over to welcome the monks. King Pasenadi bowed respectfully to the seven wandering monks, saying:
" Gentlemen, I am Pasenadi, king of Kosala, please bow down to you.
The king bowed and said three times like that, then left them and returned to Buddha. Waiting for them to go away, the king asked:
- According to the Sun, the seven of those who have a taste of Arahant? Or is there any taste of the fruit?
- Sir, the Buddha replied, he lived a royal life, more political with the religious circles, so it is difficult for him to know who is the spiritual and liberated. Only when we live with them long time, there is time to comment them in every gesture, action, speech, we just know whether they have evidence or not. It is easier for people who are used to living with monks. But the truth of the matter is that one's own practice is personal. Each person should try to learn the noble dharma and practice it in daily life. Here is where the evidence itself knows, where need to be recognized. It is important that when you are a little less do not rush to self-sufficient, is more than people, because that will get lost in the path. Always be diligent, self-awareness, sense of forgiveness, until the sense of happiness is full, no longer legal, self, is truly liberated.
- Lord, I am now 60 years old. I think I have to spend more time in study, meditation, meditation and walking meditation. But the tide work is too busy. After lunch and dinner, I felt tired and sleepy. Therefore, the practice has not been improved. Do you have any methods or just for me?
- Sir, the dynasty of the Great Dignitaries should be reduced to the mandarins who take care of the political interests of the benefit of the great emperor and courtiers outlined. For meals, Dai Vuong should focus on nutritional quality and reduce the amount of food. Because eating a lot makes the body tired and sleepy. [39]
Dear King, the Great King is now 60 years old. The great emperor thought that if there was now a great defender of the Great King from the east returning to report to the great emperor there was a great mountain coming from the east, and on the way the mountain was crushed crush all obstacles, there is nothing to stop it. The emperor is worried, another correspondent reports that another great mountain is coming from the west. Then there were other relatives reporting that a great mountain was coming from the south, and a great mountain was coming from the north. There is no way to avoid these four mountains of harshness. So what will the king do in that situation?
King Pasenadi ponders for a moment and then looks at the Buddha, replying:
Well , I think in that case, only one thing is worth doing. That is to live the remaining days are worthy, so calm, in accordance with the Dharma.
- Awesome! Great King. Four harsh mountains are four mountains, birth, illness, death. They come slowly, every second, every minute, with certainty. Nothing stops them. No one in this world can escape. Only the Pure Enlightened One can help us beyond these four mountains when we have full of vigor, determination, wisdom, and wisdom.
- Buddha, I already understand. In the face of mortal matter, nothing is more important and worth doing than diligent practice of enlightenment and liberation.
- Yes! Great king followed that practice.
Four blind elephants [40]
In the rainy season this year, Brahmins and other Sravasti rabbis were very crowded. Their lectures are held everywhere. Occasionally, the capital of the capital is also screened for conversations among representatives of different denominations. Different theories have the opportunity to be presented, compared and debated.
In the Buddhist mendicant and disciple, there are also many people who listen to these conversations. Returning to the infirmary, they told the Buddha and the disciples what they had heard and seen. They say that most of the subject of debate is metaphysical. Any teacher who teaches the doctrine of the denomination is right, the one who says otherwise is wrong. Debates usually start with a cheerful, gentle, yet painful, time-out. In the end, the listener does not know what the truth is.
The smiling Buddha told the disciples to hear the fable of the "four blind elephants" as follows:
- Formerly there is a sage king, when hear the great gods arguing with each other about the method of the security state that can not come to a satisfactory conclusion, so called soldiers to bring in the middle of a courtyard. big elephant and four blind people from birth. The king told the soldiers to bring the four blind people to touch the elephant and say to grow up to hear how the elephant people, the first description will be honored.
The first blind man touched the elephant belly, saying loudly, "Elephant, the elephant is like a basin, but much bigger." The second blind man touched the elephant's ear and said, "Elephant, the elephant is not like a big basin, it's like a big fan but very gentle." The third blind touches the elephant, arguing. "Elephant, the elephant is not like a big basin, it's not like a fan, it's like a broom or broom, but a smooth, curved handle. bent back ". The fourth blind man touched the elephant's feet, he touched from the top down one moment and said firmly, "Majesty, the other three blind all say wrong, I touched carefully, the elephant is not the same. The basket is not like a fan, it is not like a blunt broom or a broom, and, in my opinion, the elephant is like a roundhouse but very rough,
The king laughed, "You are all right, but only partially right. So the bonuses are equally divided for all four." Then the king turned to the chiefs, saying, "You are all right, because each one is based on his experience and knowledge to say. stand on the level of society and say that some people stand on the level of law and security, and some stand on the military front, but instead of arguing, you should learn and draw. Each other's experiences together bring together a good common good in many ways to bring people to life. "
Hey masters and lay people, you should calmly listen to everything, then use your wisdom to see what is true with the Dharma, can lead to true happiness, enlightenment and resolve. You should learn more and apply it in your daily life. The practitioner must have a humble and open mind. Persons who are subjected to harassment and tyranny, even if truth comes to their door, they will not open the door.

Vangisa Venerable Master holds six bases [41]
Venerable Vangisa is well known for being a mendicant who has both a sense of humor and a talent for literature. He is very poetic soul in particular and artist in general. When he was ordained, he was educated with his teacher, Venerable Nigrodhakappa. Two teachers live in a temple on the outskirts of Sravasti. After the death of Nigrodhakappa, he entered the Jetavana monastery. One day, Vangisa teacher confided to Ananda that his mind was not calm and begs Ananda to solve the problem.Asked, Ananda learned that, inherent soul artist, Vangisa teacher often feel vibration, disturbed in front of the beauty of the letters to the offerings at the monastery. Brother Ananda said:
- Brother Vangisa, many of the previous mendicants also have the mood as he was taught the World Buddha impure . Brothers should contemplate the beautiful body of a woman as a delicate leather bag filled with impurities inside like blood, phlegm, feces, urine, soon to old age, sick , the body will decay, disintegration, nothing is beautiful anymore. While the Dharma, the Three Jewels are precious, noble, bring genuine happiness to everyone, then that is the beauty of the ceiling, pure, eternal.
Furthermore, this fraternity, the Buddha often reminded the mendicants to diligently practice the maintenance of the six , to keep the six bases are purified. Eyes should not stick, must know the color is impermanent, is suffering, is not, is not self to be boring. To the ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind. The Blessed One said, "The mourners, the eyes are a deep ocean, filled with sea monsters, swirling waters and dangerous undercurrents. Your thoughts, your karmic boat will be drowned by sea creatures, whirlpools and subterranean waves. Your ears, nose, tongue, body and mind are also deep oceans. abyss, which are full of sea monsters .. "
Brother Vangisa, I think the impure and virtuous store of mind is the medicine that can heal the sickness of the "eye-consciousness" of the fraternity.
Vangisa thanked the Venerable Ananda, and from then on, he diligently practiced impurity and maintained the six faculties. He made poems self-conscious as follows:
Takes on a cocktail dress,
Lust pursuits
As buffalo remember people,
What a shame!
Son of the General
Excellent bowing skills
Thousands of troops shot from side to side
Still breaking the siege.
But this time comes
Why bother!
An abode in the Dharma
I decided to win this battle.
I followed the Blessed One
Sun lineage [42]
On the road to leisure
Our momentum sent full.
Owned by six houses
We walk in steps
Afflictions are immeasurable
Can you shake me?
Vangisa is a smart person so easy to get into high mood. Once he whispered deliberately the other teachers, but thanks to the practice of mindfulness, he realized his own bad character should do penance penance as follows:
Disciple Gotama,
Take off the arrogance!
This arrogant way
Only about suffering!
The arrogant secret
Also go to hell
What are these guys?
Look at life.
Study, see the way
The soul is peaceful
That joy is high
We must reach quickly.
Keep practicing mindfulness
Looking forward to tricks.
Kieu phase is finished
New success really.
After being told by Venerable Ananda, Vangisa has overcome many obstacles. He advanced very quickly and was confirmed by the elder Sariputta. On the morning of the teacher bright morning, he made the following poem:
The old days are poetic
I ride around everywhere
The market scene and then the countryside
Fortunately met the Buddha.
The Blessed One has mercy
Teach me color
Listen to believe
Lay down the mendicant shirt.
Stay in the Dharma
Solid, one heart
This is proof
Gratitude to the awakened.
Seeds of the sun
The sun-momentum sowing
Because beings are dark
The person opens the exit.
Four mysterious truths
The path of the eight paths
Peace and freedom
Words are wonderful.
Brahmin is high
Birth level deftly deftly
Nibbana saves all species
Graceful teaching people.
Sariputta, in a teaching session for young mendicants, took the case of Vangisa as an example. He said in the beginning of his study, Vangisa also had feelings and weak emotions, but then, by virtue of learning the dharma, he overcame all defilements and enlightenment. be marvelous Holding six bases is a very mysterious method to move forward on the path.
Where are the arguments and questions about metaphysics? [43]
Venerable Isidatta, of Avanti, [44] is a young but talented young mendicant. One day, the teacher and the nine elder seniors were invited to eat the meal at the Citta layman's residence in the town of Macchikasanda. The layman Citta is a devout, well-educated, well-educated, and popular Anathapindika. He often invited high priests to come to the house to offer sabbaths [45] and to learn more about the teachings. After making offerings to the saints, lay Citta paid homage to the mendicants and asked for permission to sit down. He posed the following question:
- Bach Theravada monks, I have heard from the Brahmajâla (Brahma Net), in which the Buddha said about 62 of the arguments accepted contemporary cults. I have also heard metaphysical questions such as: The world is boundless or infinite, eternal or eradicated; the soul and the body are one or the other; After death, what is missing, ... Where are the arguments and the metaphysical questions?
Before the question of the layman Citta, all the mendicants are silent. Citta repeats this question up to three times and no mendicant answers. The young mendicant, Isidatta, turned to the elders, saying,
- Venerable Bach, can you answer that question of the layman Citta?
- Brother, you can answer if you want.
Turning to layman Citta, Isidatta said:
"My dear fellow, I think, have these arguments and metaphysical questions because people are still entangled in ants. Once an ants are destroyed, people will no longer argue and wonder.
Lieutenant Citta appeared surprised and admirable. But he said:
- Please great virtue please clarify.
- Dear people, who are not close to the level of good-tri-knowledge, not learn the teachings of enlightenment, often accept that this body is us, or this body is mine, or have me in this body , or this body is in me. He can accept that feeling is mine or mine. He can accept that the thought is ours or our own [46] ... That is the person is entangled in the ants. It is because of being entangled in an ant, because of accepting the true one, so that the attachment is either this or that is not this, we are in this or this in our ... Therefore Born 62 the argument that the Buddha mentioned in the Brahmajala (Pham Vong). It is also because of ego, the birth of the question of the boundary or boundless, often or not, or lost, co or other, and so on. Once you break the prejudice, these arguments and metaphysical questions will become meaningless.
Citta is completely conquered by Isidatta. He respectfully asked:
- White virtue, where are you?
- Dear friends, my hometown is Avanti.
- Venerable Sir, I heard at Avanti with a young man named Isidatta has ordained. It was a brilliant young man. Does not the virtue know that person?
- Dear friends, I know.
- Great virtue, where is the good sorcerer now?
Venerable Isidatta was silent. Layman Citta is intelligent, he knows right who is sitting in front of him is Isidatta. He asked:
- Is the great virtue is the great virtue Isidatta it?
- Yes .
- So it is really precious and nice to tell me something. Madam Ethiopian Isidatta, we are looking forward to great veneration to visit us often. We wish to offer great virtue all the virtue needed, such as food, clothing, medicine and shelter.
Mr. Isidatta was silent. Then the mendicants left farewell. Mr. Isidatta had no chance to return to the Citta house anymore.END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=THICH CHAN TANH.THE MIND OF ENLIGHTENMENT.VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=GOLDEN LOTUSMONASTERY=AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.28/9/2017.
