Buddha - Who is he and what is his character? VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH.
FAITH comes first, so having faith in the Buddha and the Buddha's teachings also needs to be confirmed first. So should also read articles about the Buddha to increase and maintain FAITH. I would like to quote some parts from the book of Buddha and Buddha Dharma for the convenience of those who do not have time to read this book.
" The Tathagatas are only teachers"-- The Dhammapada
Characteristics of Buddha
After a six-year stellar miraculous battle, with no outside support and no guidance of any supernatural power, all alone and relying solely on his own efforts. himself, the Taoist Gotama, then thirty-five years old, having eradicated all defilements, put an end to all craving processes, and realized the true reality of all things, became a Buddha (Buddha), the Right Transformation, Fully Enlightened One. From that day on, he was Buddha Gotama 36 , one of a long series of buddhas that have appeared in the past and will appear in the future.
Not when he was born he was a Buddha, but he became a Buddha due to his efforts.
The Sanskrit word Buddha comes from the root "Budh", which means knowledge or awakening. Called Buddha (Buddha) because he fully understood the Four Noble Truths (Four Noble Truths), and from the dream of ignorance he awakened. Not only is he completely thorough, but he is also capable of spreading the teachings, so he is also called Samma Sambuddha (Right Enlightenment, syllable is the Samadhi Sambuddhi) to distinguish it from the Pacceka Buddhas. , individual, alone) understands only the teachings but cannot enlighten others, is self-aware but cannot enlighten others.
Before attaining Buddhahood, he was called a bodhisattva (Bodhisatta) 37 , meaning one who aspires to become a Buddha.
Those who wish to attain Buddhahood must pass through the bodhisattva period, a period of active cultivation and development of virtues: giving, observing precepts, renunciation, wisdom, diligence, patience, and truth. truth, determination, loving-kindness, and equanimity.
In a period there is only one All-Knowing One. Just as there are plants that bear only one flower for a lifetime, so a world system (lokadhatu) has only one All-Knowing One.
The Buddha is the only living being, a rare person, who can only appear in the world for a long time, out of compassion, for the good, for the benefit and happiness of gods and humans. Honor him as "Acchariya manussa" because he is an incredible man. Honor him as "Amatassa data" for he has granted Immortal status. Honor him as "Varado" because he is the giver of the purest love, the deepest wisdom, and the highest truth. Also honored him as "Dhammassami" because he is the Dharma King, the Lord of the Dharma (Dhamma).
As the Buddha taught, he is:
"The Tathagata (Tathagata), the Worshiper (Araham), the All-Knowing One (Samma Sambuddha), who gave birth to the unborn path, created the uncreated path, proclaimed the uncreated path. proclaimed, one has understood the way, one has seen the way, one has perceived the way" 38 .
There was no teacher who taught the Buddha the method of cultivation to attain Perfect Enlightenment, "Na me acariyo atthi" 39 , "a guru, I don't have", which is the Buddha's own words. He has studied with teachers to understand the legal world 40 but to the super stories that do not. He is self- power to achieve wisdom directly senses.
If the Buddha had asked a teacher or a belief system such as Hinduism -- the religion in which he grew up -- to develop super-intelligence, he could not have called himself "unparalleled guru" (aham sattha anuttaro) 41 . In his first sermon, His Holiness declared that light had shone upon him in unheard of things.
In the first days after ordination, he tried to seek the guidance of the most prominent teachers of the time, but in the teachings of these teachers did not find what he was looking for. The situation forced him to meditate on his own and return within to find the Truth. And He found the Truth within Him. He followed to the deepest depths of the stream of thought, and realized the ultimate Truth, never heard of and never known. Insight arises from within and illuminates things that he has never heard of before.
Since he has thoroughly understood all that is to be known and has grasped the key to all knowledge, he is venerated as Sabbannu, the Fully Enlightened One. That is the sublime wisdom that he has worked hard to cultivate, through countless past lives.

Who Is Buddha?
One day a Brahmin named Dona, seeing the Buddha's footprints imprinted in the sand with unusual features, approached him and asked:
- Is he a God (Deva)?
- No, I'm not really a God.
- So is he a musician in the scene of Heaven (Gandhabba)?
- No, I'm not a musician in the Heaven scene .
- So you are the demon Yakka ?
- No, actually I'm not a Yakka demon either .
- So you must be a human?
- No, I'm not really human either.
- So tell me, who are you?
The Buddha replied that he had eradicated the mundane (or gonorrhea) dharmas, which facilitated rebirth in the heavenly, Gandhabba, Yakka or human realms, and added:
"Like a lotus, beautiful and endearing, Unpolluted by mud and murky water,
Amidst the dust, I am not entangled in the dirt. Thus, I am Buddha." 42
Buddha never claimed to be incarnations (avatara) of Vishnu, the Divine Spirit Press The Church that economic Bhagavadgita were singing the praises the way suspensions
miraculous, born to protect the righteous, to destroy sin and to establish and strengthen the morality (Dharma).
According to the Buddha's teachings, there are countless devas (Devas, also called gods) -- also sentient beings, subject to samsara -- but there is no Supreme Spirit, with supramundane power, controlling human destiny, appearing in the world from time to time, using human form as a means. 43
Buddha also never called himself "Savior" having the power to save others with his own salvation. He earnestly urged those who joyfully follow in His footsteps not to depend on others but to free themselves, because both purity and impurity depend on themselves. We cannot directly make someone pure or defiled. 44
To make clear his relationship with his disciples and to emphasize the importance of the fact that he took full responsibility for himself and persevered in his own efforts, the Buddha plainly taught:
"You must exert yourself. The Tathagatas are only teachers." 45
Buddha pointed out the way and methods that can be relied on in order to free themselves from the suffering of samsara and the ring achievements ultimate goal. Walking on the path and following the right method with nothing, is part of the sincere disciple who wants to be free from the unhappiness of life .
"Being in others to free yourself is negative. But taking responsibility for yourself, depending only on yourself to free yourself, is indeed positive."
To depend on others is to bring all our efforts to their knees.
"Consider yourself as your island. See yourself as your refuge. Don't look for someone else's refuge!" forty six
Those meaningful words that the Buddha taught in his last days are powerful, striking, and inspiring. This proves that individual effort is the essential factor to achieve the goal. Find salvation in benefactors with messianic power and lust
illusory happiness through futile supplications and meaningless ritual sacrifices, is indeed vain and futile.
Buddha is a person like us. He was born a man, lived as a man, and died as a man. Though human, he became an extraordinary person, a superman, due to his unique characteristics. The Buddha graciously reminded us so many times and there is no point in his life or in his teachings that we should misunderstand that he is an imperishable being. It has been criticized that in the history of mankind, there has never been a teacher "more unspiritual than the Buddha, however, no one has more divine character than the Buddha" 47
During his time in the world, the Buddha was certainly revered by the faithful, but he never claimed to be a God.

The Great Personality of the Buddha
Born as a human, living as a person, the Buddha attained the supreme state of perfection, Buddhahood, through perseverance and individual effort. But he did not keep his sublime realization to himself, but proclaimed to the world that the mind has indomitable power and power. Never boast that he is the only one to have attained Buddhahood, because Buddhahood is not a special favor reserved for a pre- selected benefactor .
Instead of placing on man an invisible omnipotent god and giving him a self-deprecating position, the Buddha demonstrated that man can achieve superior wisdom and supreme Dao Fruit through his efforts. self. And so, the Buddha enhanced human dignity. He taught that in order to get out of the cycle of afflictions and afflictions, we must work on our own efforts, not submit, depending on a god, or a character to mediate between us and that god . .
In a world of self-centeredness, universality, and power, the Buddha taught us the noble ideal of selfless service. He opposes the evil of class division in society - which only hinders the level of human evolution - and always advocates justice, admonishing equality between people. His Holiness declared that the door to success and prosperity should be open to everyone, who
Like anyone, whether high or low, high or low, virtuous or sinful, if he tries his best to improve his life, towards the path of purity. He uplifted the plight of women, then despised by society, not only by raising the dignity of women to the right importance, but also by founding the first church in history for women. female. Also for the first time in human history, he stood up and tried to overthrow the slavery system. He abolished the custom of killing unlucky animals to sacrifice to the gods and expanded his loving-kindness, including animals.
The Buddha never forced his followers to be slaves to his teachings or to himself. Those who follow in his footsteps have freedom of thought. He advised his disciples not to close their eyes to accept His words just out of respect and reverence, but to consider, study, meditate carefully, just like a wise person who wants to test gold, must "burn, cut, cut gold." and rub it on the stone".
The Buddha supported unlucky mothers like Patacara and Kisagotami with great comforting advice. He personally took care of the sick and lonely like Putigatta Tissa Thera. He helped the poor and abandoned, helpless like Rajjumala and Sopaka and rescued them from a tragic death. The Buddha raised the moral life of murderers like Angulimala and spoiled prostitutes like Ambapali. He encourages the weak, unites the divided, brings light to the ignorant and dark, guides the ignorantmisguided people, upholding the lowly, and exalting the dignity of the noble. The poor, the rich, the honest and the sinners, all loved Him equally. The tyrannical rulers and righteous warriors, the glorious princes and those who live the dark, unknown lives, the generous millionaires, the miserly The humble, the humble scholars and the proud, the prostitutes, the dirty workers, the murderers, the often despised people, all enjoy wise counsel. wisdom and compassion of the Buddha. His noble example is a source of inspiration and encouragement for all. He is a compassionate and generous teacher above all .
His iron will, sublime wisdom, boundless compassion, selfless service, unprecedented escapism, exemplary life, the perfect methods he used to spread the teachings, and His ultimate success
-- all of these factors have made one fifth of mankind worship him as the most transcendent cardinal from antiquity.
To pay his profound respects to the Buddha, Sri Radhakrishnan wrote:
"In Gotama Buddha, we see a perfect quintessence of the Eastern people. His influence in human thought and life is a rare feat, so far not inferior to the influence of Buddha. any cardinal in history. Everyone worships and respects him as the one who created a very profound and mysterious religious system. He belongs to the history of world thought. He is the crystallization of the world. a wise man because, intellectually speaking, he is certainly one of the noblest men of history". 48
In his book "Three Greatest Men in History", scholar HG Wells notes the following:
between us (as Europeans) and our needs and Buddhism, there are many close points of view. As for the importance of man in service, he is more discerning, and for the incorruptibility of human existence, he is less confused in his argument.paler than Christ ."
The poet Tagore honored him as the Most Noble Man in the world.
A Danish philosopher, Mr. Fausboll, praised the Buddha with these words:
"The more I know Him, the more I love Him."
A humble follower of the Buddha would say:
