Lotus Sutra with vows. The Lotus Sutra describes a living truth through the actions of the Bodhisattvas. The Buddha saw that all sentient beings have Buddha-nature. And since all sentient beings have Buddha nature, all sentient beings' good deeds, even a very small one, lead to liberation into Buddhahood, as in the Convenient Method it is said: "The human mind is scattered, Entering the central tower and shrine, one proclaimed Nam Mo Buddha, then became the Buddha Way" (If anyone is distracted, enters the Buddha temple tower and speaks in one language Namo Buddha, they will all attain Buddhahood). Or: "Until children play, gather sand to build Buddha stupas, all attain Buddhahood. Those are the things that were taught in pre-Buddhist times.) It was not until he preached the Lotus Sutra that the Buddha mentioned it. Because even very small good deeds come from Buddha-nature, without Buddha-nature, there can't be any good deeds, and since it comes from Buddha-nature, even if you do a good deed in the distraction of your mind, it will lead to Buddhahood. After his enlightenment, the Buddha preached the basic doctrine, he wanted to bring all sentient beings to enlightenment like Buddha, but could not, that is the case when he said the Flower Adornment Sutra, but he followed Thien Thai Tri Gia for the Sutra. It was the first sutra preached by the Buddha when he became enlightened at the Bodhi tree, and few could understand it. And that is also the expression of the meaning of the Buddha's words when he attained enlightenment at the Bodhi tree, which is recorded in the Great Nirvana Sutra belonging to the School of Sutras and the Invocation Sutra belonging to the Corresponding Sutra: "This Dharma was created by me. truly profound, hard to see, difficult to witness, quiet, sublime, super logical, wonderful, But in the time of the Lotus Sutra, it was different. Here it is verifiable that all sentient beings have Buddha-nature, so all sentient beings become Buddhas, whether they practice in the Sravakayana or the Pratyekabuddhas. Because the Second Vehicle is a means, but the means does not mean it is worthless, but its value is the path leading to enlightenment. Here, special emphasis is placed on the view that the Buddha was born only to say that there is only one Buddha vehicle, and that only that one Buddha vehicle is true, while saying Hinayana and Mahayana are just means of speaking. Speaking according to the low and high base of the real Buddha, there are small and great. The terms Hinayana and Mahayana in the Lotus Sutra are overlooked, no longer carrying the true and fixed meaning as in other Mahayana Sutras. The Lotus Sutra has a special view of the Buddha body and Dharma. Regarding the Buddha body, Dharma Flower refers to both the Buddha's birth-body and the Dharma-body. The reborn Buddha is a historical Buddha limited in space and time, like the Buddha Shakyamuni born in India. And the Dharma body is the nature of the dharma body, which is not born and dies, and transforms the dharma world. Without the Buddha-dharma body, there is no Buddha's birth-body, and if there's no Buddha-dharma-body, there's no better place to manifest the Buddha-dharma-body. The Buddha's dharma body is like the moon in the sky, while the Buddha's birth body is like the moonlight under water. The moonlight under the water comes from the moon in the sky, and the moon in the sky thanks to the moonlight under the water shows its application. The moonlight under the water depends on the condition of the water, but sometimes it doesn't, and the moon in the sky is not subject to the presence or the absence of water. That is a special point that is different from other sutras or only talking about the birth body, but not about the dharmakaya, or just talk about the dharmakaya without talking about the birth body. Shakyamuni Buddha was born under the tree of No Worries and passed away at Tala with a double life, that is the Buddha's birth body, the shadow of the Buddha's dharmakaya with limitless lifespan. Shadows and shapes are different, but shadow and shape are not separate. Such understanding is the comprehensive understanding of the Buddha. That is the view of the Buddha body in the Lotus Sutra. As for the view of the entire Buddha's teachings, the Lotus Sutra is also a special sutra that raises both righteous and true teachings. Doctrine is an incomplete teaching. The right to teach, although not final, is indispensable. Without the right teaching, it is impossible to give the true teaching, so the right teaching and the true teaching are also the teachings of the Buddha to teach sentient beings to enlightenment. In the Lotus Sutra, we do not accept power and give up the truth, nor do we accept truth and give up our rights. According to Mr. Thien Thai Tri Gia, A very erudite Buddhist scholar, the founder of Thien Thai Tong with many new and unique interpretations of Buddhism. He compared the entire Buddha's teachings to a shining sun. The sun is the same, but depending on the time it shines differently on each different object, it has different effects and forms. Likewise, the Buddhadharma is one, but depending on the time when the Buddha preached to each different audience, it turned out that there were different teachings. Accordingly, Mr. Thien Thai divided the entire teaching of the Buddhist scriptures into five periods as follows: Hoa Nghiem period: Also called the period "Natural divination high mountain." After attaining enlightenment, the Buddha preached the first Flower Adornment Sutra for the upper class, just as the sun at dawn first shines on the top of a high mountain. The A Ham period: Also called the period "The Japanese rise to the top of the black mountain." Following the Hua Nghiem period, The Buddha preached the Ahamma Sutras for the middle and lower levels, like the sun shining on the low mountains when it rises high. Time period: Also called the period "Japan ascends to the plateau." This was the time when the Buddha preached sutras such as the Shurangama, the Old Tomb, the Bao Tich, the Tu Ich, etc. Like the sun, when it got higher and higher, it reflected on the highlands. The Bat Nha period: Also called the period "The Japanese rise to the universal projection of the great earth." This is the time when the Buddha preached the Great Prajna Sutra, like the sun when it rises high, illuminating the whole earth. The Dharma Flower Nirvana period: Also known as the "Japanese one completes high mountain" period. This was the time when the Buddha preached the Lotus Sutras and Nirvana. Like the sun that is about to set down shines its light back on the top of a high mountain, just like when it just rose. The way of dividing the entire canon of Buddhist teachings according to the above five periods, if based on time, it is not reasonable. Because according to historical research so far, not many people have recognized that the Buddha had a theory of the Avatamsaka Sutra as soon as he became enlightened. But if you think about it, this is not baseless. Because when the Buddha preached the Flower Adornment Sutra, it was the doctrine of the doctrine of dependent origination, a new, profound, and sublime doctrine, and sentient beings were bewildered, no one understood. Does this closely correspond to what the Buddha said when he first became enlightened: "This Dharma is something I have witnessed, it's so deep and hard to see, etc.," as cited in the previous paragraph. Then from there, the Buddha taught the Four Noble Truths to the five bhikkhus, that is, he taught the teachings mainly recorded in the Ahammas and Nikayas. The teachings in the Ahamian period only focused on destroying self-grasping, eliminating craving, and attaining Nirvana, but did not mention the doctrine of breaking down dharma-attachment. It is necessary to wait until the time to speak the Bat Nha Sutra to focus on breaking even the dharma. According to the spirit of Prajna, all dharmas, whether sentient or unknowing, are devoid of real nature, that is, have no independent personality and are all unattainable. But having no possessions does not mean nothingness. But because there is nothing to gain is to gain, that is, to attain the wisdom of Great Viennese, to become a Buddha. This thought is the thought in the Lotus Sutra, Nirvana, so the Dharma Flower and Nirvana period was put in the last fifth period for that reason. Great Master Cat Tang, the founder of Tong Tam Luan, divided the entire Buddha's teaching into three dharmas: 1. The legal basis, only for the time of speaking the Hoa Nghiem Sutra. 2. Chi meditative law, only for the time of speaking the A Ham, Phuong Dang, and Bat Nha sutras. Thus, the Lotus Sutra is also placed in the last and highest position. Nirvana means to gather all the teachings and means to bring them to the end, to gather the tops back to the root. The word Turning the Dharma wheel in Pali is Dhamma Cakka Pavatana Chuan - Pavatana: Moving, building, strengthening. Because of the above definitions, some people translate it as strengthening the kingdom of wisdom, building the kingdom of truth, turning the wheel of dharma. The word Wheel is a wheel, capable of rolling, rolling from one person's mind to another's mind, the Dharma is transferred from the Buddha's enlightened mind to the deluded minds of sentient beings. It's like a wheel rolling from one place to another. The word Luan also means to suppress, roll to where it is suppressed, the Buddha's teachings roll to the minds of sentient beings to suppress all afflictions, wrong views and ignorance. The King of Wheels again has chakras as the main symbol of his kingship, through which he goes to all nations, bringing peace and prosperity to them. In the same way, the Dharma King Tathagata has a wheel of Dharma to go to sentient beings, bringing peace and liberation to them. The Lotus Sutra was translated from Sanskrit into Chinese very early. In A.D. 256, in China, Mr. Truc Phap Ho translated the name Chanh Phap Hoa. In 404, he translated the name Wonderful Dharma Lotus Flower. During the Chinese Sui Dynasty, Great Master Tri Khai (531-597) established the Thien Thai Tong Tong, based on the Lotus Sutra. In 593-622, in Japan, His Holiness the Crown Prince (Shotaku Taishi) commented on the Lotus Sutra at the same time as the Victorious Man and Vimalakirti Sutra, and based on that drafted and published the first 17 articles of the Constitution of Japan. Japan. In 1222, Master Nhat Lien also relied on the Lotus Sutra to establish Nhat Lien Tong, making a great revolution for Buddhist sects to spread ideas in Nhat Nhu Tinh Do Tong, Luat Tong, and Zen Buddhism. Until now, Nhat Lien Tong is still popular, is a sect of Buddhism that has entered the mass society widely. They often recite the phrase: Mahayana Wonderful Law Lotus Sutra to pray for peace. Even Venerable Cat Tang, the patriarch of the Three Luan Schools, also respected the Dharma Flower as the sutra during the time when he preached the "Devils of the Law Wheel." In Vietnam during the centuries when Buddhism flourished, the Lotus Sutra was also widely practiced. In 1879, Zen Master Thanh Dam named Minh Chinh wrote the book Phap Hoa De Cuong, which is of great value both in terms of ideology and literature. For example, describe the word "Dharma" in the sentence Wonderful Dharma Lotus Flower as follows: "Chen sa has a large number of dharmas, but has a false sense of consciousness, an illusion of a map from being destroyed, a true view of the righteous view of the station. There is a middle school of discovery, a teacher of the path, of the upper path, of entering the Buddhist family. Ruoc education has a foothold in the department, and Mo's money is an open source of tatami." Although many things are uncountable, Chung Quy is only conscious of the ceiling. Illusory charm image although not real, Chon tri right view is still tolerant. Meet the teacher who teaches the way to enlightenment, See the Buddha to find the truth, If you want to quickly get to the shore of enlightenment, The road ahead of you, don't hesitate). If you want to find out the origin of the act of self-immolation, which sometimes Buddhist monks often do to let go of the illusory body, pray for liberation, or to awaken people's conscience like Bodhisattva Quang Duc burned himself in mid-1963. , you will find that it originates far from this Lotus Sutra. In short, the reason why the Lotus Sutra has such a great position and influence is because the Lotus Sutra, according to the Japanese Buddhist scholar Kimura Taiken, is a sutra for the full promotion of the bodhisattva path. consider all sentient beings as bodhisattvas, have the potential to become buddhas in the future.
