SAMSARA.
The ultimate goal of the Dharma is to help us to end birth and death. There are many ways to do this, but there are things we need to know.
The ancients said:
"If we do not eliminate craving, we can not be born in the Pure Land.
If karma is not severe, it is not born in the realm.
If craving is not cut off, it can not end birth and death. Kinh Lang Nghiem said:
"If the mind is not deductible, can not get out of the ceiling."
Besides, the Sutra says:
"If beings in the six paths have no citta in the mind, they will not continue to conceive."
Kinh Giac said:
"One needs to know that samsara is due to craving because of all kinds of lusts, birth and love, birth and death."
The Infinite Life Sutra (The Forty-One Products, "Or The Sought Buddha" ) says:
"If there are beings who are good and good, but also accept the difference, and also attach deep feelings, they eventually failed to find a way out of samsara."
In the Infinite Life Tho said:
"Being is the origin of the birth and death of mankind."
All scriptures and commentaries seem to indicate that sex is the root of birth and death.During the life of a Venerable Master, he always praised education, because he believed that moral beings were born of good marriages, and that good marriage was due to mutual loyalty and avoidance of adultery. These values need to be reinforced in children from a young age. We must educate them in a righteous and indivisible relationship.
This is a very important issue. Weird diseases and catastrophes in the world are all caused by murder and lewdness. Although many may not like to hear or like to discuss the topic, the Venerable Master says:
"What you object to most, that's what I want to say the most, so both of us will have a job to do."
Throughout the life of the Venerable Master always strangles people away from sexual misconduct and craving. Even in his death, he still reminded:
"Sex is the worst of all evil, do not go on the path of death."
"People are born of love and die of craving."
"Boys should not be looking for a girlfriend before they are twenty-five. Daughters should not seek boyfriends until at least twenty years old. "
The Venerable Master talks about the classical methods of education at the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas, which have separate schools for boys and girls. This encourages self-restraint and avoids interpersonal relations, avoids abortion and contraceptives. Sex is the main cause of decadence in the world. The Master said:
"Do people die for money? Are not! The desire for wealth is really driven by craving. Man died of craving. The proverb 'People die for money' is misleading, because the Chinese do not want to expose it. They know it's wrong, but they do not say it. They just want to deceive themselves. As the saying goes: 'Medicine is bitter, but cure disease. The truth is hard to hear, but it can help the person modify the behavior. ' I do not look at people with AIDS (SIDA), so I have to say that. "
He also said:
"If you do not let go of your craving, even if you give up eighty-four thousand eons, you also waste time in Buddhism and create karma with every meal you eat."
Every day in the press is filled with reports of murders, theft, adultery, deceit. Murder and sexual misconduct are especially common. The Master said:
"About the law of cause and effect, adultery is the most serious crime and the most punishable." According to the law of cause and effect, when people do sexual misconduct many times in life, then many times saw the giant saw from the saw head to toe If a person gets married a hundred times, he or she will be split one hundred times at the time of death. "
In Master Quang Van Dai, Master has strict words:
"People who commit adultery are using human beings to do animal behavior." When they bear them, they will fall into the hells and then reborn in animals, and over thousands of lives will not. Because all beings are born out of craving, this world is hard to keep but easy to commit. "
"Those who commit adultery do not know their self-esteem or shame, they are so filthy that they are so ugly they are human, they behave like animals, they become animals while alive, and in their lives. Next they will be born as animals ... Those who do misbehavior will surely give birth to children who do not know how to maintain good sex ... People who destroy the body by masturbation - oil do not commit adultery With others - they still have to go to great hell. "After leaving Hell, they can reincarnate into swallows or ravens. If they were human, they would become whore ..."
Some people may think that the words of the Patriarchs are overstated or overly corrected, but here it is not. Being in the Dharma Ending Age has done so much evil that if the modification is not excessive, it will not be effective. Have you never read the biography "Dang Van Cong" part II in Mencius or star? In it say: "The age is evil, and the Dao is weak; evil teaching and rioting everywhere. General kill the master, I kill father. Confucius feared and wrote Spring and Autumn. "It can be seen that the human mind was too decadent during the Spring and Autumn Period, the Dharma Age is even more decadent. We should not be suspicious and discuss such words. As Lao Tzu said, "The truth seems paradoxical."
Someone may say, "Man is a sentient being. [Desire] Food and sex are part of nature." That is why we have to practice!
The Buddha Saying Forty-Two Chapter says:
"See seniors like your mother, see older people like you, like your sister, see younger people like your sister, and see younger ones like your own daughter. save them, and kill the wrong minds. "
This verse does not tell you to hate others, but to realize that the Middle Way is not love, not hate; Practicing the Middle Path means that you and the enemy are the same and see the male and female together.
Most of the Venerable Master's answers to the questions of others have been recorded. Whenever the Venerable Master answers the questions of others, his answers are always "amazing", surprising, full of dharma, and unceasingly applauding. The Venerable Master's humorous answers always contain the meditator as a questioner as having a proper punch in the head and pointing straight at the mind.
A passage in the Sixth Patriarchate , the 8th dharma, dharma , can illuminate the Master's comrades:
"He saw the nature of the law to set up, not to set up, to go freely, not stop not afraid, right where to use, depending on how to do, The body does not leave your nature, that is, to give yourself in the divine, that is so called.
The meaning of this passage is that the true enlightened person, who is truly aware of the true nature of the passage, can formulate the method or not, whatever he wants. They can come and go at will, without obstacles. This shows the freedom of birth and death. If a person raises a question, they can answer without thinking, and the answers are moral and not unreasonable. At that time, their incarnation is everywhere, and incarnate does not leave the nature ; Therefore, everywhere and at all times , they are all self-sufficient and have enough Green Globe. Those who see nature can answer the questions immediately, and never give false or misleading answers , leading people to stray. Here are some of the Venerable Master's answers to the questions of the devotees.

A. Nowhere!
In fact, the Venerable Master has achieved the realm of " birth and death ", so he "does not come nor go." He is not going anywhere. The Venerable Master has repeatedly said:

H. The Buddhists donate donate organs after death is not a good idea?
A. C cough after death is not as good for the body as alive. So honest! If only for when you are dead and no longer used, what benefit? There is a saying: "Do not give to others what you do not want."
Organ donation has been a hot topic in recent years, and people do not agree. The Venerable Master's position on this issue is very special, he said that if one is alive, one can donate his body (can bear the pain), then there will be no problem in the donation of the body at the time of death .Hence, he still maintained that do not necessarily have to wait until the moment of death the new donor organ (no one can be sure that they will not launch center to regret their decision because it was too painful . More, The Venerable Master also said that people who truly practice the Bodhisattva Way should "give others what they like".
Once a man told the Master:
"When I saw the Master must fight sticks to walk by because he has suffered too much karma of beings, I feel very sad. I would bow to the Master's compassion office longer!"
The thief immediately threw the stick, everyone clapped their hands; and he said:
"Are you hurt yet?"
This is an example of Venerable Bat Nha's miraculous example: "Between generals wipe the generals." Is not that interesting?
Throughout life, the Master has always emphasized "not angry" and "cultivate patience," because "Dharma does not leave the legal world. Lia worldly t ser Bodhi is like looking horned rabbit. " The Master said:
"You can only eliminate the affliction when there is no affliction. You can only live longer if you do not get hotter. If one is not angry, all karma will be eliminated. "
The Master has also " invented " two interesting notes :
" Patience! Patience! Need to be patient! Do not be angry! I she ha. "
" In my heart is not angry,
What disease is also avoided!
This mysterious remedy,
To forget to go upstairs.
Ha ha "
When the Venerable Master returned to the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas with a veil (see details in Vajra Bodhi Sea Monthly, No. 275), one of his disciples did not see such a thing so he took the veil of the face Him. The Master says humorously:
"If you take away my veil, I can use another towel." I prepared five things - the blue, the yellow, the red, the white, and the black. Come on five scarves! "
Surface does not seem to have anything, but in fact the "koan" is not just that. I believe this is the method " dear teacher " Bat Nha Abbot . The masked face action symbolizes the "smashing of generals" and rediscovering "the future." The five blue, yellow, red, white, and black represent the five aggregates - he tested the disciples to see them. can break the five aggregates, and consciousness does not cling to appearances (similar breaking three " gates " in Zen) or not .
There is a sentence:
"Seeing the understanding, transcending the world,
Seeing the love, the devil.
Did not any of us " understand the " yet? If you read the Master's responses and expressions with careful attention, the wisdom of your own nature will emerge more easily, because "the breadth and the detailed explanation are all show the ultimate truth. " The Venerable Master said:
"Do not believe in me, nor believe in the Buddha. Believe in your own wisdom. Discover Bat Nha in your own nature, and thus you will reach the Dharma Label. If that is the Way, go ahead. If not the Dao, go back. Do not wear a hat but think it's a shoe! "
What is divine knowledge? "Unconditional change is 'god', not the end, the obstacle is 'communication'." It is the ability to make others just can understand, and can do what he wants anything without difficulty. The Master said:
"Dieu use harder measure is 'god'; liberated, unobstructed as 'information'".
Those genuine evidence obtained there is psychic and Luc Information benders. In Buddhism, five labels and Luc Nhan is the scene of Bat Nha sequentially manifested in the process of practicing smuggled, enlightened and the results of the practitioner ; This is not considered extraordinary. The difference is whether the viewer is right or wrong. He must maintain the net and prevent greed, not to go wrong, lost in the path.
Actually, divine power is simply the smoothness of self-nature (self-nature) .Everyone inside has already fully equipped Buddha Nature with the five records, but was blocked by ignorance and afflictions. Of course, when he was in the world, he forbade everyone from performing his miracles, but he did not prohibit people from showing miracles. If the Bodhisattva has divine powers without revealing to the means of teaching the living beings, what is supernormal energy? Buddha just afraid that people are "arbitrary" performing psychic, or spiritual powers to deceive others and bring them into the realm of demons (described clearly in chapter "Fifty Kettle Ma" of Beijing Mausoleum ). The sutra says:
"If you do not think you are holy, then it is good, and if you think it is holy, you will get lost in the way ."
This sentence is very important!
Many misconceptions suggest that the Venerable Master is the divine preacher. The magical inspiration story throughout the Master's life is too much to count. I will mention three cases for everyone to refer. Believe it or not, it is up to you. Everyone may have heard the following three famous words of the Venerable Master:
When I was in Hong Kong,
I did not allow the big storm to reach Hong Kong.
Every day I was in San Francisco,
I do not allow San Francisco earthquake.
Once I was here,
I do not allow the Dharma Age to happen.
If we study these verses carefully, we will find that the words "I do not allow" are not alludes to "divine powers," but the compassionate wishes of a Mahayana Bodhisattva. Bodhisattva Tibetan did not say: "Hell is not empty, I do not wish to become Buddha" or not? Who can know how much blood, sweat, and tears poured out to complete this prayer? Furthermore, because the Venerable Master keeps the precepts from lying for the rest of his life, his words naturally have extraordinary effects. The Venerable Master once said, "No lie is the most effective note." Yes, that is the most miraculous method!
About the earthquake in San Francisco, except for the massive earthquake that occurred on October 17, 1989 (when the Master was in Taiwan), from 1968 until now, San Francisco had no major earthquakes. both. The humble Master says:
"Big things, I did not do much, but little things like earthquakes I could handle.
There are, of course, small earthquakes, but no earthquakes do not take account. If I have nothing to rely on, if not for the Buddhas and the ten Boddhisattvas as well as the heavenly dragons and the eight sets they support my Fa, how dare I have such a prophecy? "
There is another case related to the article in the Bodhicitta Magazine No. 437 , entitled "A Few Feelings of the Third Malaysian Visit of the Mission of the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas and Dharma Realm Buddhist University " Author of b Who wrote that Master Xu Quan , a veteran disciple of Lao Master Quang Hoa , who specializes in studying the Diamond Sutra and especially to realize c evil sentence "The Minister as illusory" and "Should consciousness do not stay anywhere ". In this article, Master mentioned that the Master was fighting cancer, the nose of the Master, a sickness that Master has suffered for many years, and the disease "throat" (pharynx can create them) .
At the end of the article, the Master recounts that while sleeping in a position in the room, the Master suddenly felt himself squeezed between the two giant feet, and in the famous air of Master said: "You told me I wanted to go back to the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas to practice with me, now that you are still sleeping, why are you sleeping so much?"
After waking up, the Dharma Master said:
"In the Sutra it is said that the Buddha has six golden trunks, andtoday I see the Venerable Master appearing high, the bright yellow light, the huge giants ... Is that a dream? It's very clear in my mind, and my mind is still clear. Basically, 'truthful, indescribable,' is so amazing and can not be expressed, so why should I? Saying that the Udumbara flowers are rare bloom is easy, but it is difficult to meet the good teacher. For that reason, I have clearly narrated the basis of an inexplicable induction. 'Truthfulness' must be left to the reader to experience. "
Finally, an example occurred in 1984, when the Venerable Master was teaching in Singapore. Before the Venerable Master left the United States, he promised a laywoman in San Francisco that he would come to see her home. But after making such promises, the Venerable Master traveled to Singapore on his way to Dharma. However, on the day the Venerable Master promised, the two children of the woman, five and six years old, truly saw the Master coming to the house and looking around. Therefore, Hang Cong said:
" The Master's virtue is very deep, and those who are not close to him do not know this." Do you know why we left this vacant seat in the middle because no one knew where the Master was? , we all felt a bit nervous and scared to sit on it. "
Teacher Hsuan also pointed out that when Heng and Heng Heng were walking Three Steps One, the American police officers approached and said, "Yesterday I saw three people you went to bow to. Chinese older men are older than you, why do not you see him today? "
I do not know if you believe the three cases mentioned above, in which the Master gives people the impression that he has divine powers. In item 17, "Cong de Cause of Bodhi Mind", of Huayen Sutra , states:
"Standing on the highest path of the One, he penetrates the supreme Dharma." Understanding when beings are ready and at any moment, he or she shows supernatural powers to benefit them. "
I have read and listened to all the Master's lectures and tapes, and I never met a Venerable Master claiming that he was divine. The Master said:
"Divine energy is just another name of wisdom. If you have wisdom, you will naturally see the whole universe as an amalo on the palm of your hand.
In Buddhism, supernatural power is only secondary, not the main thing. Anyone who emphasizes miracles is extremely ignorant. I will tell you clearly, I have no supernatural powers; Even to me there is no message. It's not something I like.
Those who understand Buddhism should focus on non-competition, non-greed, unwilling, not selfish, not self-interest, and do not lie. If you look for the Green Label or something like that, you just 'find the fish on the tree'!
The Venerable Master has been revealed by the Venerable Master Kham Kham. On June 8, 1980, the Venerable Master sent two disciples to pay a visit to the Khmer Master. At that time, the Khmer Master Kham Kham asked them:
"Do you have magical powers, do you often teach miracles to you?"
Two practitioners replied:
"Divine power can not be taught." The divine nature occurs naturally when it is practiced to some degree, and it can not help ending the cycle of birth and death, which is not the ultimate goal of Buddhism. "
From the mention of the Venerable Master Kham Kham on the Venerable Master's virtues, it can be deduced that the Venerable Master is indeed divine. If what you know about the Venerable Master is only his divine power, that is pitiful; It can be said that you are not your true disciple. The Master, as far as I know, not only was there manpower Update, which is an elder honest, compassionate and selfless. In the spring of 1993, when the Venerable Master returned to the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas and wore a veil of shame because his disciples violated the traditional style of the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas, he truly said:
"I wear a veil, I can not see clearly!"
And then, because of that, the Venerable Master "accidentally" hit "wrong" people.
I therefore consider the Master to be a teacher with a stick of his own, who took and asked for the temper of others, who fasted to pray for world peace and ended the war, who had travel the world to preach even when seriously ill to travel by wheelchair, and who had the ceremony bowed beings every day, he must be a yogi Bodhisattva has " even bloodshed, sweat Come, stop not stop! " (10) .
If Buddhists are concerned only with their master's ability to performmiracles or not, without realizing the teacher's compassionate spirit of compassion, they are mistaken. and goals and are not true disciples of the Buddha.
On December 4, 1994, when the Master was hospitalized for exhaustion, he said:
"I want to tell you what to do after I leave. All you should be prepared for is psychology. I can leave at any time. Nothing is fixed.Everybody has come and gone. Do not be sad. Just behave like you do in the ordinary. "
After many requests from the four disciples, the Venerable Master stayed for another six months. When the Venerable Master has suffered the utmost suffering for the sake of living beings (11) , he said:
"I will not help myself to lift my finger while I lay on this bed.
I am now two human beings. One is still going to save the living beings. And one person here, I do not notice. I will not help myself. "
Oh, what a blessing of beings! The Venerable Master went to the presidency at 3:15 pm on June 7, 1995 (May 10, the year of the Pig). The ninth Patriarch of the Zen lineage entered Nirvana, and the successor of the Venerable Hsu Yun became a part of history.
Some people wonder why the people have very highest achievements so that the Master again appears the phenomenon of critical illness before departure. Actually, the answer is simple. All the prominent Grand Master for many generations have had the reasons due to separate when the current minister somehow predestined before rebirth . According to theSixth Patriarch of the Sutra , when the Sixth Patriarch Hui Nang was still alive, there were people who wanted to kill him; After his death, someone wanted to chop off his head to bring him to church worship. When Bodhidharma came to China, he was poisoned and assassinated six times. The Twenty-fourth Indian Patriarch Monks were beheaded by the imperial court.
Before Grand Master Xuanzang lost, he slipped and fell down , then forestry patient must lie in bed for a long time, he said:
"All my negative afflictions and bad karmas have come from the beginning of time, thanks to the virtue of this mild illness that all have eradicated.
His teacher, Hsuan Shi, was very sick at the age of old and suffering illnessso sad that he wanted to commit suicide. Then the Quan Yin Bodhisattva came in his dream and counseled:
" I used to be a monarch who caused so much misery to sentient beings, so now I have to bear this retribution. Please sincerely repent, patiently endure suffering, and diligently diligently study the Sutra, Your child will naturally be eliminated. "
Before the birth of the Venerable Master, he made a poem about his condition as follows:
Hard to live the rest of the day,
Persevere in suffering, old.
Eating as a poison,
Night bed as hard as hard,
In the dream again encountered impermanent demon,
Waiting hard to find a life saver.
Know the network people breath?
Mau returned to the Pure Land Pure. (twelfth)
By the time of his death on June 7, 1995, the Master's illness did not show signs of improvement , no signs or miracles occurred. That way, do not leave traces, he for beings that turn the French coast conditions - into the void and birth sick old death. Throughout his life, the Master has healed many sentient beings, but he is not interested in his illness. He chose the most painful way out: dying of illness.
We know that the Zen Master mazu daoyi clairvoyance, generous and has saved countless beings. His influence spread throughout the country. He had 84 great disciples and all were great intellectuals , and he himself was always sick. Considering the Bodhisattva spirit of these higher beings, we can not escape the endless praise!
And also Venerable Master Yun, Thailand at the beginning of Zen, life to 120 years old . His life spanning ten victims, forty-eight rare events and countless miracles. Even when he was 112 years old, he was persecuted by his disciples , robbed and brutally tortured by the Communists . He died several times after being beaten with iron spikes and bleeding and broken ribs.
Grand Master Hiep Son Tu Ba , who left his body indestructible, also suffered brutal torture and died of lumps on his back.
Venerable Quang Kham, a senior monk in the era of the Master , also manifested disease and passed away in 1986; and a mage at his temple recounted:
"The Venerable Master said that he would be sick at the loss because of the suffering of the world! How can he bear the fee?"
Khmer Master Kham Kham is very right. Your world has so much suffering, how can you waste time in this place ?
On one occasion, the monk asked Quang Kham:
"If a person has a very high attainment in spiritual practice, but dies of illness or accident, is it because his career is difficult to convert?"
Venerable Quang Kham replied:
"You can say that his or her career is difficult to convert, but you can also see that it is the person who is paying the karma."
"Only those who have practiced to meet the tribulations, obstacles. This is the merit of the man who helped solve the problem in this one. "
There are some verses in the Vow of the Venerable Master that I feel very profound and profound. I would like to note below:
He added leisurely, nothing to do.
Play hide and find on the bed.
See the existence, the management no: no but no.
Diagnosis, source source: source but not source.
These verses clearly explain the illness of the Venerable Master. As I said before, all the patriarchs and the Grand Master level, high-rise great faith, are predestined teachings of beings in samsara. We should evaluate a person's achievements by considering the practice of the Bodhisattva Way of Life, compassionate salvation of beings, and dedication to his or her Buddhism. We should not judge a person based on miracles or good deeds.
Over the ten thousand pieces of relics found (including the relics and twelve tooth fragments ), there are many colors, including white, brown, green, blue, black. and purple. There are many relics deposited on the bone, sparkling like jade, rarely seen. This proves that the merits of the Venerable Master from the sermon more than ten thousand times and throughout his life never lie, indeed can not think so !
Bodhidharma, not disturbed, brought Buddhism from Annam to China, where Buddhism was generously promoted. Venerable Master Hsuan Hua soon made a vow to bring Buddhism to the countries of Europe and America, so as to be able to lead as many sentient beings to shore up Wisdom beyond. When the Venerable Master in the United States, he gave three vows:
1. Focus on moral ethics in education, started initiatives to educate volunteers (ie education) .
2. Interpreting Buddhist texts into languages, and establishing the Institute of Translation of the Sutras .
Facilitate the exchange and solidarity between Theravada and Mahayana traditions; fusion Mahayana and Theravada.
The Venerable said that education is as important as the teaching. Students at the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas must memorize the "Rules of Students" and the "Three Selfs." The Venerable Master can be considered as the first to initiate volunteer education in the West. He actively sought volunteer professors to strengthen the noble standards of education as well as morality.
The translation of the Buddhist scriptures into the languages of the world is the vow that the Venerable Master had made upon his ordination. He can be seen as monks third vow to bring Buddhist scriptures translated into the language of every country in the world , after two Grand Master Xuanzang and damping .
More than 130 volumes have been translated into English, and translations into other languages such as French, Spanish, Vietnamese and Indonesian are also underway.
The Venerable Master also attempted to fuse the traditional Theravada and Mahayana traditions. The Venerable said,
"The Mahayana and Theravadin traditions are meant to help sentient beings to develop bodhicitta, to end birth and death, to depart from suffering, to achieve peace. Therefore, the Theravadin and Theravadin traditions should have sympathy with one another and unite one another, seeing that both are one. Do not do your work and I will take care of my problem, because of that, the power of Buddhism will be dispersed. "
"Anyone who seeks to divide Buddhism is not a Buddha. Do not say Mahayana or Hinayana, even a legacy is not available! Heart selfish self-seeking, harm its interests our people , and the only known praising himself and disparaging n prolific - this key is the cause of war. "
The Venerable once blamed himself for the division between Mahayana and Theravada Buddhism:
"I am also a sinner in Buddhism. Why ? Because I have not fulfilled my responsibilities. I have not been successful in getting close to the distance between the Theravadan and Theravadan traditions. If the tradition of Mahayana and Theravada repel each other, each cardboard are unfurled their flag up and use of the surface of the work, how Buddhism can be united? "
Much dialogue between the Mahayana and Theravada traditions took place at the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas, opening a new page in the history of Western Buddhism.
The Venerable Master said that he was from a faraway Asian country, thousands of miles away, a single, single-handedly searching for the United States - a foreign land without Buddha-Dharma. to the West. Today, the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas has become a major center of darkness in the West, and many branch directories have also been established.
The Venerable Master guided the disciples of various nationalities to work together to spread the Fa and to unite the religions together. The Venerable Master has walked this long path with great patience . The Master's expectation is that all beings will become Buddhas before him. He wants to help all living beings away from suffering, achieve peace, find true wisdom, achieve freedom, liberation. In a speech, the Venerable Master said:
"I just small ants blinding orange heart cow's feet all the Buddhists.I am the way, pray for all beings stepped up himself to me and go from ordinary straight to Buddhahood.
If any of my disciples go to hell, I will pray for them.
Pray that those who see me or hear my voice, even just hearing prompted to my name, will quickly become a Buddha. I will stay in this world and wait until all of you become Buddhas. "
The Venerable Master's great contribution to Buddhism as nothingness, how can this article fully describe all? He has left countless blessings for us, so from now on we will have to diligently practice, obeying the Six Great Apostles. Only then will we be free from the suffering of the Venerable Master, and hope that the Venerable Master will follow his will and soon return to save sentient beings!
