Great Stupa of Nirvana
Thi Na verse is the place where Lord Tathagata destroys, enter the infinite y n Nirvana under the two museums of Sa La. This place was later identified by archaeologists as Kasia in Deoria district of Utta Pradesh.
The nearest municipality is Gorakhpur, 55km away from the road. Kushinagar is 130 km south of Lumbini, 250 km east of Sravasti (savatthi, Xa-Ve) and 250 km north of Patna. All of these distances are approximate estimates.
Like other holy places related to events of Buddha's life history, Kusinagara became an important holy place for Buddhists to worship.
At that time, thousands of monasteries and stupas were built around the site. However, it is unclear for what reason, this sanctuary has been ruined. Both Dharma Hien and Huyen Trang, when coming to worship this shrine, must also utter the words of compassion when looking at Kusinagara's crumbling wild scene.

The remaining ruins around
Through excavations to find traces, some debris was dug out of Buddha statues, patchy pillars. However, based on the signs of those remnants and inscriptions, it is certain that this place is the holy land of Nirvana. The Great Bowl of Nirvana that the Ashoka king built could not be found and it was possible that the stupa was buried under Nirvana nunnery built in the Gupta dynasty.
Among those relics, one finds a statue of Buddha in the posture of Nirvana. This statue also crumbled and was skillfully healed by sculptor Carlleyle. The Ramabhar stupa was erected at the site of the ceremony of the Buddha's cremation tea and the relics were divided into eight equal parts for the eight most powerful kingdoms of that time.
