HAPPY SPRING TO MANGE, LEARN ABOUT MANGRACTS

HAPPY SPRING TO MANGE, LEARN ABOUT MAJORITUDE BUDDHISM.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=THICH CHAN TANH.

Sometimes it is because of that "mouth that often laughs" and that "happy stomach" or "content" that people living in this barren world choose to symbolize the opening day of a year, because in life, everyone Looking forward to meeting the happy smiles, the generosity hearts. It is not accidental that people call him "Laughing Buddha".
Maitreya Buddha on Cam mountain (An Giang)
More than 20 years ago, the poet Vo Que took me to go to some places in Hue. The souvenir shop knew Vo Que, so he asked him to help some visitors understand Maitreya Buddha, because the translator for the delegation was also confused. The poet Vo Que turned to me, I could only laugh, because I was not fluent in it. He is also not very good at improvisation but is quite good with a ... poem: The  mouth often laughs, laughs are very difficult things to laugh in the world / Very happy or content, not very easy to use in the world. The idea was clear, so I, along with the translator, helped the visitors to understand this Buddha. And that day, those Buddha Maitreya's statues in the souvenir shop were sold out.
Recalling the poem of Vo Que, I said that it was not very good, but it was much better than the so-called sentence of some people who exaggerated themselves. Vo Que said that the old school in the war zone looked so wistful ... And that "mouth often laughs" seemed to follow me all the way through, but also very disturbed by the appearance of Mr. And why, whenever the spring comes, do Vietnamese Buddhists "celebrate Maitreya Spring" but not "celebrate Spring Shakyamuni", "celebrate New Spring Festival", "Happy New Year Medicine", or other Buddhas?
The originator of the Duy consciousness
According to Wikipedia,  Maitreya  (zh. 彌 勒, sa.maitreya, pi.metteyya is the transliteration, translated meaning  Tu Thi  (慈 氏), "loving-hearted person", also the theory that He is called Powerless Thắng  (無 能 勝, sa.ajita), Sino-Vietnamese transliteration is  A Dat Da  (Sanskrit: Ajita, Chinese translates as Vo Thang, Vo Nang Thang or Vo Tam Doc) Maitreya is a Bodhisattva and also is the last Buddha to appear in the world In Tibetan Buddhism, Maitreya Bodhisattva is widely worshiped.
According to Buddhist legends and scriptures, Maitreya is a Bodhisattva who will appear on earth, attain complete enlightenment, teach Dharma, educate sentient beings, and realize enlightenment into Buddha. Maitreya Buddha will be the Buddha who inherited Shakyamuni Buddha. The realm of the Bodhisattva's present world is the Heaven of Origin (sa. Tuita). Maitreya Bodhisattva is predicted to be born in the descending life of the next small life, when the life is 80,000 years, or about 9 million more years according to the earth, when the Buddha Dharma has been forgotten in the realm of Pluto. The legend of Maitreya Buddha is found in the canonical texts of all Buddhist sects (Theravada, Mahayana, Vajrayana), and accepted by most Buddhists as an event. will take place when Buddhism is forgotten on earth, and Maitreya Bodhisattva will be enlightened Dharma and speak to sentient beings,
He is also known as Từ Thị (Maitreya in Sanskrit, or Metteyya in Pali) comes from the legend: Because he wanted to educate sentient beings, he didn't eat the sentient beings from the beginning. According  longest fear , Tu Thi ie strains from the ball, two words:  From  the  Four immeasurable  (Loving Kindness, Compassion, Joy, Equanimity) of Buddha,  Thi  is race, family, nation, due to heart From there born of the Tathagata race, capable of making all the worlds unbroken Buddha. But according to the  Options Hy  in  the Lotus Sutra  and  Beijing Equal Enlightenment , Maitreya is a soil. He was a disciple of Shakyamuni Buddha. But according to  The Theory of Text in Trung A, function 13, the  Sutta Pitaka 6 and the  Abhidharma Pitaka Sutta  178 , Maitreya and Abaya are two different characters. In the verse of the  Belgian  Gnostic Path (Pàràyana) of  the  Sutta (nipàta) of the Great Pàlii Sutta, the names of both Abhidharma (Ajita) and De Maitreya (Tissametteyya) are completely assumed to be two different people.
Indian Maitreya Buddha
Xu Thi is mentioned earliest in Cakavatti (Sihanada) Sutta, Digha Nikaya 26 in the Pali Sutta Pitaka. In Indian paintings or statues, Maitreya sits on the ground, the symbol of readiness to stand up and educate sentient beings. In the early images, Maitreya is depicted as a slender, handsome prince, often dressed in Indian royal attire. In China, Maitreya Bodhisattva is presented with a fat, cheerful general, children around tangerines. It is believed that it is the image of the Venerable Father, an incarnation of Maitreya in the 10th century.
There is a theory that the Bodhisattva Maitreya was the one who initiated the Mahayana sect of Mahayana. Some scholars believe that this person is Maitreyanatha (sa.maitreyanātha), the teacher of the Duy Duy teachings (Before.aaga). The Tibetan Buddhist tradition states that he is the author of five essays, called Maitreya (Từ Thị), five treatises:
1. Mahayana supreme discourse or The end of the most redundant comment (sa.mahâyânottaratantra).
2. France legal discrimination discrimination (sa.dharmadharmatâvibanga).
3. The central boundary distinguishes the treatise (sa.madhyântavibhâga-úâstra).
4. Show serious solemn bar (sa.abhisamayâlankâra).
5. Mahayana business solemnity solemn (sa.mahâyânasutralankâra).
Immeasurable improvisation itself
When Buddhism entered China, Maitreya also ... followed and integrated into popular belief, so there are many legends about him. With Mahayana Buddhism, the Bodhisattva has karmic retribution, application and reincarnation. Depending on the physical basis of beings, they improvise countless bodies to save sentient beings. Chinese books tell many stories about the reincarnation of Maitreya Bodhisattva. Specifically, the Sui Dynasty (6th century), an incarnation called Mr. Tang Can. He built an am near Quoc Thanh pagoda, preaching day and day; sometimes he rides a tiger - as if people were riding a buffalo, riding a cow, etc. Dear beggar, named Han Son. Dec Dac grew up and, along with Han Son, were two beggars, until the meal waited for everyone to finish, the two men then used the leftover rice soup; even, the two men also meticulously picked up the grains of rice that fell under the water floor, washed and ate; I coaxed to sleep in the corridor of the temple. Then one day, inadvertently, two beggars climbed up and sat on the neck of Mr. Van Man and Mr. Pho Hien. This earthquake was soon reported to the temple abbot and of course both were heavily reprimanded.
A district official was terminally ill, dreaming that Mr. Tang Can came back, claiming to be Maitreya, and told him to go to Quoc Thanh temple to pay homage to the two beggars Han Son and Thap Dac, who were all sick, because those two were the main is the embodiment of Bodhisattva Manjushri and Samantabhadra. The district official did exactly what he said, but the temple did not want to meet, because visitors from the crossroads to the temple were a Buddhist ceremony, or sightseeing, or a meeting with the monks and nuns of Buddhism, but why did they expect to pay homage to the eater? you. But at the request of the district official, the pagoda allowed people to call Han Son and Thap Dac to come. Seeing two beggars come in, the district official knelt down and prostrated. The two beggar laughed and laughed, said, "Lao Tang Can made us exposed", then led each other and ran all the way to the forest.
After hearing the district's recounting the dream, everyone knew the incarnation of the Bodhisattvas, but no one had the opportunity to pay homage to them.
Fidget in the folk mind
According to Wikipedia, Bo Dai (zh. 布 袋) is a 10th-century Chinese Zen master. "obsessive meditation" nature. When he passed away, he confessed that he himself was the embodiment of Maitreya, the future Buddha. In many pagodas, people often present the statue of Maitreya in the form of a fat, cheerful, round Dad.
Father Venerable
Bo Dai lived in Phung Hoa, Minh Chau, the dynasty of Luong Dai Dai, self-proclaimed as Khue try (zh. 契 此). His figure is short, stubby, free talking, eating and sleeping freely. He often carried a burlap sack on his shoulder to place offerings. He was popular with the public because he had the ability to prophesy the rainy weather. Once he slept on the road, everyone knew it would be good, whereas when he wore shoes and took shelter, it would rain.
His temperament is very "paradoxical", just like the spirit of Zen Buddhism. Answering the question of how old and young, he said, "old as a nothing". In the middle of the market, someone asked what to look for, "we look for people", he answered. One day a monk went ahead, he patted his shoulder and said, "Give me a coin." The monk said, "If I can say it, I will give you one money." He immediately dropped the condom on the ground and silently crossed his arms.
He had many magical powers, sleeping in the snow, snow did not fall on him. Before he passed away, he recited verses:
Maitreya
Tens of billions
Show people all the time
People do not know
Maitreya, Maitreya feet
Cypress clone alone
Time and time
Time of self-consciousness.
(Maitreya, Maitreya's leg
Hundred hundred thousand memories
Always tell the people
People do not know themselves).
After passing away, someone still saw him elsewhere. Later people painted his picture with a large cloth bag and from there gave birth to the image of Bodhisattva Maitreya, everywhere today. It is said that on that day, when he went into a begging house, his family got better; He found fortune for anyone, who was doing business with money, money like water. Since then, many people regard him as the God of Fortune. And in fact, there are many pictures of Maitreya, holding gold bars or coins like pictures of the Gods of Fortune.
Last year, I went to Dalat, saw many interesting Maitreya statues. It is a statue of Maitreya carrying a back, carrying a gauze in the right hand, holding a basket in the left. This shows that he went into the folk consciousness in this world. He came to the ethnic group, then mixed with the beliefs of that ethnic group to facilitate the chemical level of sentient beings.
Happy Maitreya Spring
Why celebrate Maitreya? Because the first day of Tet is your lunar day? So, is the first day of Tet a day of birth or death? Answering this question is not easy. Scriptures from India do not see recorded; in China even more difficult, because he incarnation as mentioned above, it is not easy to set the date of birth, the date of his death; where the sky is, the rate of interest is even more obscure. Someone said: "We prostrate to Him with the sentence: Long Hoa Giao Long future born Maitreya Buddha. Chu Chu saw the world view the first day of the New Year as a day of determination for a year. On this day people are wary of every word, every action, every name who comes to visit, wary of all sorts of things. Thus, the first day of the New Year is a day full of meaning for our future. In the temple on the first day of the New Year mean? The Patriarchs took the first day of the New Year as a day for Maitreya Buddha to be a brilliant future day, the future day will become Buddha. On the morning of one of us bowing to Buddha, prostrating to Maitreya, is to put all hope in the future, hope that we will become Buddha. There is no hope of luxury and luxury but only hope of becoming a Buddha. That is the deepest meaning of the first day of the New Year for us to celebrate Maitreya Buddha.
So what about he going to the West?
When I asked this question, I recalled the poet's involuntary sentence whenever I could. The mouth often laughs, laughs very difficult things in the world.
In addition, some of his paintings have six more children playing, some sticking his fingers in his navel, some hooking his nostrils, some with his mouth, some with his ears ... And he was laughing. , not bothered at all. I think that smile is a funny smile. But according to folklore, children are the image of the future and also "fortune". Children who are cute and cheerful should also be brought into the house.
Except for demons
 Chung Quy's Painting
The story goes that Chung Quy studied very well, passed a doctorate exam but because he was so ugly, the king did not use it. He banged his head on the stone pillar before the dragon power and died. He was the Jade Emperor's mercifully allowed to exorcise demons to create happiness for all people. One day, Chung Quy was surrounded by demons; I hold on to my neck, I hold my hands, I hold my feet ... making Chung Quy no way to show my magic skills. Death seems to be near.
At that moment, suddenly there was a fat monk puffing out his big belly and coming with a grin, grabbing Chung Quy's shoulder and saying:
- The general catches demons, why is it so embarrassing?
Chung Quy said:
- Unexpectedly, evil spirits are hard to catch.
The monk was fat and laughed and said:
- Don't worry, I took the devil for you.
When the Venerable finished speaking, he laughed and laughed at the demons, opened his mouth with a loud roar, swallowed all the demons into his stomach. Chung Quy took horror, saying:
- Master is a true miracle god.
The monk replied:
- You do not know it, the cruelty like this a lot, can not speak morally with them, can not talk to them, just have to swallow it into the belly only.
Perhaps through this account many people have added to him the function of exorcising demons.

The above records are just "looking" but not necessarily "understood", but one thing is sure that, we can learn from him the heart attached to others, always nurturing kindness. . And that is Maitreya's smile, the generosity of Maitreya, the Spring of Maitreya always in everyone. END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).WORLD VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST ORDER=GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.26/12/2019.
