The Full Moon Sutra (Chapter III, 182) 1) At one time the World-Honored One was in Sàvatthi (Sàvatthi), Dong Vien, and Loc Mau lecture hall, together with a large assembly of monks. 2) At that time the World-Honored One, on the occasion of the Bodhisattva's Day, on the full moon day, on the night of the full moon, was surrounded by a large assembly of bhikkhus. 3) Then a bhikkhu, rising from his seat, draped his upper robe over one shoulder, clasped his hands in the direction of the Blessed One, and said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, I would like to ask the Blessed One a question, if the Blessed One allows permission, and answer your child's questions. Monk, sit in your seat and ask as you wish. 4) Yes, venerable sir. That bhikkhu obeyed the Blessed One, sat down in his seat, and said to the Blessed One: Venerable sir, are there these five aggregates of clinging: the aggregate of form clinging, the aggregate of feeling, the aggregate of perception, the aggregate of clinging, aggregate consciousness? This Male-stilts, there are five aggregates of clinging, that is, the aggregate of form clinging... consciousness of grasping. 5) Good luck, World-Honored One. That bhikkhu rejoiced, accepted what the Blessed One said, and then asked the Blessed One another question: World-Honored One, what is the basis of these five aggregates of clinging? These five aggregates of clinging, bhikkhu, are based on desire. 6) Good thing, World-Honored One... World-Honored One, are those five clinging aggregates or clinging outside the five clinging aggregates? This, bhikkhu, does not mean the five aggregates of clinging, and clinging is not outside the five aggregates of clinging. But where there is greed and desire, there is clinging. 7) Good thing, World-Honored One. That female-stilts... asked another question: - Is it possible, World-Honored One, in the five aggregates of clinging, there is a difference in sex and greed? The World-Honored One: - It is possible, this Male-stilts. Here, bhikkhu, someone thinks thus: "May I have such form in the future! We hope to have a life like that in the future! Hopefully in the future, we will have the same idea! We hope to have something like this in the future! Hopefully in the future we will have such a consciousness!” Thus, bhikkhu, there can be a difference in sensuality and greed in the five aggregates of clinging. 8) Well done, World-Honored One. That bhikkhu… asked another question: In what form, World-Honored One, is there a definition of the aggregates of the aggregates? What physical identity, Male-stilts, belongs to the past, future, present, or internal or external, or gross or subtle, or paralysis or victory, or far or near; this is called color aggregate. What kind of life… What kind of thought… What kind of action… What kind of consciousness belongs to the past, future, present, or internal or external, or gross or subtle, or weak or victorious, or far or near; this is called consciousness. In such a form, bhikkhu, there is a definition of the aggregates of the aggregates. 9) Well done, World-Honored One. That female-stilts... asked another question: - World-Honored One, what is the cause, what is the condition, called the aggregate of form? Due to what cause, what condition, is called the aggregate of life? For what reason, due to what condition, is called the aggregate of perception? What cause, what condition, is called the aggregate of formations? What cause, what condition, is called the aggregate of consciousness? This, bhikkhu, due to the cause of the four elements, due to the condition of the four elements, is called the aggregate of form. Due to cause contact, due to contact contact, is called the aggregate of feeling. Due to cause contact, due to contact contact, is called the aggregate of perception. Due to cause contact, due to contact contact, is called the aggregate of formations. Due to name-and-form, due to nama-rupa condition, is called consciousness aggregate. 10) Good luck, World-Honored One. That female... asked another question: How, World-Honored One, is there a body view? - Here, Male-stilts, uneducated ordinary people do not see clearly the Saints, do not master the Dharma of the Saints, do not practice the Dharma of the Saints; not seeing the egos clearly, not mastering the dhamma of the egoists, not practicing the dhamma of the egoists, contemplating form as the self, or contemplating the self as having form, or contemplating form in the self, or contemplating the self in form… feeling… perceiving… action… contemplating consciousness as self, or contemplating self as having consciousness, or contemplating consciousness in self, or contemplating self in consciousness. Thus, bhikkhu, there is body view. 11) Good luck, World-Honored One. That female-stilt… asked another question: How, World-Honored One, is there no body view? Here, Male-stilts, the multi-literate Saint disciple clearly sees the Saints, is well-versed in the Dharma of the Saints, well-trained in the Dharma of the Saints; clearly see the sages, well master the dhamma of the egoists, well practice the dhamma of the egoists, not contemplating form as self, or not contemplating self as having form, or not contemplating form in nature self, or not contemplating self in form, not contemplating feeling… not contemplating… not contemplating formations… not contemplating consciousness as self, or not contemplating self as having consciousness, or not contemplating consciousness in self , or not contemplating the self in consciousness. Thus, bhikkhu, there is no body view. 12) Well done, World-Honored One. That female-stilt... asked another question: World-Honored One, what is the sweet taste, the danger, the renunciation of form?... of life... of perception... of formations? What is the sweetness, the danger, the renunciation of consciousness? Bhikkhu-stilts, due to the condition of form, what joy arises, that is the sweetness of form. Impermanence, suffering, subject to the dissolution of form, that is the danger of form. The subjugation of sensuality and greed, the cessation of sensuality and greed for form, is the renunciation of form. Due to the condition of life... Due to the condition of perception... Due to the condition of the actions... Due to the dependent consciousness arises happiness and joy, that is the sweetness of consciousness. The impermanence, suffering, subject to change of consciousness, that is the danger of consciousness. The subjugation of sensuality and greed, the cessation of desire and greed for consciousness, is the renunciation of consciousness. 13) Well done, World-Honored One. That bhikkhu was delighted, believed in what the Blessed One had said, and asked the Blessed One another question: World-Honored One, how do you know, how do you see, regarding the body having this consciousness and towards all signs? outside, there is no (opinion): self-view, self-view, arbitrary conceit? This Male-stilts, what physical form belongs to the past, future, present, or internal or external, or gross or subtle, or weak or superior, or far or near; All forms, a bhikkhu reflects with right wisdom as it really is: "This is not mine, this is not me, this is not my self." What kind of life… What kind of thought… What kind of action… What kind of consciousness belongs to the past, future, present, or internal or external, or gross or subtle, or weak or victorious, or far or near; In all consciousness, a bhikkhu reflects with right wisdom as it really is: "This is not mine, this is not me, this is not my self!". O Monk, by knowing thus, seeing thus, with regard to this conscious body and to all external signs, there is no (perspective): self-view, self-perceived view, conceited conceit. 14) At that time, another bhikkhu arose the following thought: "If you say form is non-self, feeling... perception... mental formations... consciousness is not-self, then karmas are created by non-self, time self-self. who will take the life?" 15) Then the World-Honored One, knowing in his own mind what was thinking of that bhikkhu, said to the bhikkhus: 'This has happened, bhikkhus, that there are people who are ignorant, ignorant, and ignorant. immersed in ignorance, mind dominated by thirst, thinking that it could surpass the Guru's teaching, thinking: "If he taught that form is impersonal, feeling... perception... formations... consciousness is impersonal, then time... Karmas are done by non-self, which self-perpetuated these karmas?" Monks, I have well taught you the questions and problems here and there in these dhammas. 15) What do you think, monks, is form permanent or impermanent? It is impermanent, World-Honored One. 17-20) Feeling… Perception… Actions… Is consciousness permanent or impermanent? It is impermanent, World-Honored One. What is impermanent is suffering or pleasure? It is suffering, World-Honored One. What is impermanent, suffering, subject to change, is it reasonable to contemplate that as: "This is mine, this is me, this is my self"? No, venerable sir. Seeing this, the Noble Disciple is bored with form… with feeling… with perception… with formations… bored with consciousness. Due to boredom, he dissociates from greed. Due to dispassion, he is liberated. In liberation, knowledge arises: "I am liberated". He knows well: "Birth is over, the holy life has been accomplished, what should have been done has been done, there is no going back to this state.." .
