The life and light of the venerable Sariputta - Part 2 8. Two important tasks: In addition to spreading the Dharma about South India, building the Ky Hoan monastery, the venerable Sariputta also undertakes two invaluable tasks. equally important. The first task: The venerable is the only person chosen by the Blessed One to transmit the Pure Land dharma and preach the Amitabha Sutra. Today, Buddhism is spread all over the world, all focusing on three main sects: Pure Land Buddhism, Zen Buddhism and Tantric Buddhism. Of these three sects, Pure Land Buddhism is still the sect applied by Buddhists to practice the most. The truth is that, in the past, Venerable Sariputta was not considered the ancestor of the Pure Land School, but it was actually the Venerable One who was first called by the Buddha to transmit this dharma. The Amitabha Sutra, which is chosen by the Pure Land School as a guideline, is upheld and maintained. recited regularly in the afternoon and evening elaborate times. This sutra is summarized in ten pages, yet the word Sāriputta is mentioned by the Buddha thirty-eight times. Why are there thousands of other venerable ones, but the Buddha did not choose to transmit this dharma, but chose the venerable Sariputta? One of the main reasons is: This teaching principle is always built on faith. Faith is the mother of merit, which is indispensable in the practice of this method; Trust requires no qualifications or no qualifications. Due to fear of the next life, this method is only suitable for people with low roots, and people with high qualifications are not suitable for practicing this method! When the venerable Sariputta, the most wise one among the disciples of the Buddha, bowed his head and received this teaching. So which of us, people in the world today dare to call me intellectuals, great roots to denigrate this method. Today, the Pure Land practice is flourishing. Those who choose the Pure Land method to practice will never forget the figure of the most Great Wisdom, who has worshiped and maintained this method to be handed down and developed to this day. The second task: An "unprecedented" event happened in the Buddha's time and is unlikely to happen later, which is the "breaking of the Sangha" by the venerable Devadatta. Commenting on Venerable Devadatta, to be fair, he is a very talented person in all fields: Wealth, power, literature, swordsmanship, practice ... only regret That talent when standing next to the Blessed One, it was overshadowed like the stars standing next to the full moon, like Chu Du standing near Zhuge Liang. From childhood, Prince Devadatta was outstanding and skilled in many fields, being the highest object of competition with Prince Siddhartha, fighting over the swan in childhood, until she competed for the beautiful Yadu-dala in adulthood and competed for the noble throne. When he ordained as a disciple with the Buddha, he tried his best to practice and attained supernatural powers. But later, he colluded with Crown Prince Asha-thera to compete for the right to lead the Sangha. He encouraged Crown Prince Asathe to kill his father, King Tanba-sala, to become king, while he killed the Buddha to become a Buddha and lead the Sangha. After Crown Prince Ashathea killed his father and became king, Devadatta was highly respected by King Ashathea and he carried out a plot to kill Buddha, he hired professional assassins. karma to assassinate Buddha, roll stones to kill Buddha, release drunken elephants to trample Buddha, etc. bad form! With the support of King Asathea, he had power, wealth and fame, he tried to divide the Sangha, established a new law, and attracted the monks to follow him. As a result, he gathered up to five hundred monks with him, living, practicing as well as enjoying material things... creating a great crime, the crime of "breaking the Sangha". Faced with the fractured situation of the Sangha, the Buddha sent the venerable Sariputta and Moggallana to preach the Dharma and instruct the confused monks to follow Devadatta. When he saw two venerable Sariputta and Moggallana coming to him, Venerable Devadatta thought the two Venerables had followed him. He was pleased, proud, and entrusted five hundred monks to the two venerables. instructed to enter the break room. Venerable Sariputta has ascended to the throne to preach and analyze what is wrong, right, and false, where is the true ordination… Five hundred monks, after listening to the venerable Sariputta's preaching, realized their mistake, they immediately abandoned Devadatta and followed the venerable Sariputta back with him. The World-Honored One, the Sangha returned to harmony and purity as before, ending the division and rift in the Sangha. When Venerable Devadatta woke up to find that there were no more monks, he was so angry that he spat out fresh blood. Once again, Venerable Sàriputta has shown us his talent, as well as fulfilled an unprecedented great responsibility in the Buddhadharma, repaired the rift in the Sangha, and ended the "Breaking the Dharma Wheel." , bringing peace, purity and harmony to the Sangha. 9. Virtue of the venerable Sariputta: The monastic always takes virtue as the main, Venerable Sariputta not only has such great talent, but his virtue also shines through the Sangha. This is another highlight for us to respect and admire. His virtue includes all virtues, altruism, patience, gratitude, tolerance, filial piety, etc. Altruistic behavior: The life of a monk always strives to destroy selfishness. , develop altruism, perfect the virtue of compassion and equanimity. During the life of Venerable Sariputta, he was a great example of selflessness. Right from the time of ordination, attained sainthood, took on the responsibility of "Great Disciple" of the Master, he lived everything for the Sangha, not only did he take on all important tasks such as spreading the Dharma about Buddhism. In South India, building the Ky Hoan monastery, bringing harmony to the monks... but he also did the smallest things like taking care of each sick monk, cleaning up trash, toilets, bathhouses, etc.… “This elder did not go for alms in the early morning like other bhikkhus. Instead, when they were gone, he would walk around the vihara, and wherever he found unorganized furniture, an unclean sleeping place, he would clean up and sweep away all the rubbish, and prepare even beds, tables and chairs, dishes, water bottles, order and ready for others to use. He did so, besides taking care of the monks, he also thought: "Other ascetics who are not Buddhists, when visiting the vihara, may see disorder and criticize the bhikkhus or see turn Increase them.” Selfless virtue, living with the Buddha, taking care of the Sangha, taking care of each old monk, sick monk, even the little novices. That selfless life sacrificed so much that he did not have free time to contemplate and enjoy the bliss of liberated mind: "What about me? In the morning, when I saw the whole way of immortality, in the afternoon, I came here to attend the ceremony to accept the role of Great Disciple, and in the evening, I listened to the Dharma and preached the Dharma... indeed, I did not have time, no space to be by myself. contemplation, knowing the non-action state of liberated mind, liberated wisdom. Now (evening) is the right time to do it.” Gratitude: With the predestined fate, the venerable Sariputta met the venerable Assaji (A-theory) and then received the immortal religion. To appreciate that deep and sublime love, Venerable Sariputta never forgets this guru. During the day, when the venerable monk returned for alms, he often offered food to the venerable Assaji. Until he slept, he did not forget the figure of this guru: “Sariputra finds his quiet place to meditate or walk. Before going on vacation, leaning back for a moment, Sariputra always remembered Venerable Assaji's place in the monastery or in any other direction to turn his head in that direction. Even later, on the way to propagate the Dharma, following in the footsteps of the Buddha, spending the night in towns, villages, deep forests, cemeteries, etc., with or without a roof, Sariputra still kept the custom. like that, turn your head in the direction where your original teacher is." Patience: From a new monastic outsider, to becoming a "Great Disciple" in the Sangha, Venerable Sariputta made all the Bhikkhus respectful. However, besides that, there were still jealous and envious bhikkhus, so they had rude words and actions with venerable Sariputta. Channa (Sanna) thought she was majestic and said insulting words, slandered to the Venerable, he was gentle and patient without arguing. The Buddha heard about this and called the Venerable Channa to rebuke and teach: "O Channa! you should remember that the two disciples of the Tathagata are the best, best friends in the world. To be friends with them is very happy, extremely peaceful and extremely beneficial.” Virtue and talent of the Venerable surpasses ordinary people, rumors about him are getting farther and farther. There was a Brahmin who doubted this and wanted to test him. One day, he was waiting on the side of the road waiting for Venerable Sariputta to pass by for alms, and suddenly from behind, he hit him on his back with a stick. Thanks to abiding in mindfulness and awareness, the Venerable Master still kept his mind calm as if nothing had happened, and continued to beg for food. Extremely respectful of that holy conduct, this Brahmin immediately apologized and left home as a disciple of the Venerable. There was a young bhikkhu who lacked practice, felt that he was sad and uninterested in the assembly. This one, for no reason, slandered the venerable Sariputta because he had power to beat him and asked the Blessed One to judge him. In front of a large audience, the Blessed One asked the venerable Sariputta if there was such a thing. Venerable Sariputta has raised the nine noble virtues that he has practiced: Cultivating the mind like the earth, regardless of who rubs, who steps on it, who walks back and forth, throws on it all the defilements, who is great. convenient, urinating on it is also… Practice like water, like wind, like fire… “World-Honored One! Those nine things are me, I am those nine things. All the virtues, all the virtues of a recluse that the World-Honored One always teaches, although I have not yet fully accomplished, I am still walking step by step, firmly and stably. Since seeing the Way, As a result, I have never been ashamed of a single point of the precepts to the point that I have to reprimand myself. May the World Honored One and the whole earth prove to me that truth." When the venerable sàriputta presented his noble practice, the whole assembly was greatly admired, the young monk deeply regretted having confessed his sins before the Buddha, the venerable one. and the public, to beg for repentance. Sariputta's vows are the vows of a saint, so his virtues we cannot enumerate. In addition to the above virtues of altruism, gratitude, and patience, the venerable Sariputta also demonstrated filial piety (will be presented later), tolerance, humility, sacrifice, etc.... each of his virtues is a transparent crystal mirror for our children to follow and practice. 10. Relative degree: Looking in the scriptures or in the historical documents written about the Venerable Sariputta, we know that the Venerable had all six brothers: three brothers and three sisters. Three younger brothers named: Cunda, Upasena, Revata. And three younger sisters named: Calà, Upacàla and Sisupacàlà. Reading through the history about him, we deeply admire, respect and at the same time congratulate the venerable's mother, Mrs. Sàri, with immeasurable blessings. She gave birth to seven children, under the guidance of the elder brother, who was fully qualified and virtuous, all of whom were ordained in the Buddha's teachings and shared the attainment of arahantship. After ordained in the Buddha's teachings, the virtue and talent of Venerable Sariputta became more and more resounding. The venerable has saved many people, from all walks of life from princes, nobles, bourgeois… to the pagans and the poor with the lowest status in society. In particular, the Venerable Master saved his dearest people, from his uncle who followed the naked religion, his nephew who worshiped fire as a sacrifice, saved all his brothers from home, attained Sainthood, and even his dear mother. My favorite: “I have an uncle who has a predestined relationship with the Dharma. This uncle used to make offerings to naked ascetics, and he thought that to do so was to practice the path of coexistence with the Brahma. This uncle I led to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One put him in the faith of the Three Jewels. I also have a grandson, who specializes in killing animals and tending the sacrificial fire. He does so and believes that this is the way to the Brahma world. I led my grandson to the feet of the Blessed One, and the Blessed One put him in faith in the Three Jewels ever since." Of his six younger brothers, the first being two younger brothers, Cunda and Upasena, the Venerable One advised and guided these two to become ordained in the Dharma, the two of them followed the example of their elder brother to strive diligently to cultivate. practice and have attained the noblest virtue of a recluse. That is the attainment of Arahantship. To three sisters: Calà, Upacàlà, Sìsupacàlà, although the Venerable did not directly guide them to monastic practice, but when they heard the fame of their elder brother's talent, virtue, as well as peace and liberation, all three of them. The false sister's sister saw the impermanence, suffering, and bondage of life. They also followed the example of their elder brother, in turn ordained in the Dharma of liberation, tried their best to practice and achieved the fruit of the Unborn (Arahant). Thus, although the Venerable did not directly guide them, but by an indirect way, He also set them free. Of the six brothers of Venerable Sariputta, the story of the youngest brother's ordination has made us the most interesting. When he heard that his father passed away, Venerable Sariputta asked the Blessed One to return to his homeland to visit his family and recite sutras for his father's salvation. With the permission of the World-Honored One, the Venerable Master brought five hundred bhikkhus with him to propagate the salvation of life in his homeland, and at the same time chanted sutras to dedicate merit to his father. When meeting again the venerable brother whom he had only heard of but never seen, the youngest brother Revata looked at the Venerable in amazement: "This is my precious elder brother! Everywhere people admire this great brother. OH! And why is my brother so handsome, so majestic, and so likable!" Venerable Sariputta had observed and foretold the youngest brother, His little seven-year-old Revata will also be ordained, attaining Sainthood, so he told Revata when he wants to go forth, go to the village of the western forest, where there are a few dozen bhikkhus practicing the First- Da, said that Venerable Sariputta's brother would like to make a vow to become ordained, then they will accept the invitation for him to be ordained in the Dharma. Venerable Sariputta's mother was a person who hated Buddhism as well as both the Buddha and the monks. She said that the Buddha used a spell to take away her six dear children. Again, her family is a Brahmin leader with a deep tradition of divine beliefs. Now her husband has passed away, the fortune is huge, the richest in the village, but only the youngest son is only seven years old. Looking in awe at its profound elder brother while seeing off Venerable Sariputta back to Ky Hoan Vihara, She was afraid that this youngest son would become ordained like his brothers and sisters, so that the great fortune would become waste, and especially she was afraid of the noble lineage of this family, even if there was no lineage. No one inherits the bloodline. So she decided to follow the child marriage regime, taking care of getting married for her youngest son Reveta. Thinking to do it, she invited the senior Brahmins in her relatives to present her reasons and aspirations and ask them to match up to find a wife for that last child. After a while of searching, they found a beautiful fourteen-year-old girl, registered for marriage and conducted a wedding for the youngest son. At this time, Reveta was only seven years old, but still very young, but also very wise and had the foundation of the world. The wedding was very grand. While going to the bride's house to receive the bride with many solemn rituals, in which there is the performance of the grandmother of the bride who is a rich, elderly person (120 years old), has a reputation in the family, standing out to bless the two children to live happily until the day they have long teeth and gray heads like her. Looking at the bride, she is beautiful, but seeing her grandmother is old, gray hair, wrinkled skin, hunched back, walking with a cane... He understood that the girl was beautiful, called the bride, My wife is old and ugly as well. The fate of the world has come, remembering the teachings of his elder brother, he thought of a way to escape. On the way home, Reveta pretended to have a stomachache and asked to stop the car to get off, go to the bushes beside the road to defecate, then get in the car to continue, three times like that. For the fourth time, not far from home, Reveta said very casually: "It's clear that his stomach is tormenting me, the house is coming soon, so you just slow the car ahead, I will keep up. immediately”. The procession was going great, so they weren't in any doubt. They drove slowly away, Reveta found a closed grove of trees, out of sight of everyone and tried to run all the way to the village of the western forest to meet the monks who were practicing the practice of Dau Da to apply for ordination. . The bhikkhus at first did not dare to accept Revata into the Sangha, because they saw Revata dressed elegantly, the son of a noble family, and did not have the consent of his parents, or of the elders... afraid that he would not can afford the worldly life. But after learning that Reveta was Venerable Sariputta's brother, and at the same time, having had a prior warning from Venerable Sariputta, the monks agreed to accept Reveta to practice with the Sangha. After a period of efforts to cultivate, the boy Reveta attained Arahantship in front of everyone's admiration. 11. Degree of motherhood or filial piety of Venerable Sariputta: When comparing the two Venerable Sariputta and Moggallana, we find that the two Venerables have a lot of similarities in a strange way: Similar in birth, family lineage, race, talent, ordination and renunciation. together became two great disciples of the Blessed One. In particular, they both showed the highest filial piety among the Buddha's disciples, saving their mother from wrong views, remaining in the Buddha's teachings, and getting rid of suffering. Like Venerable Moggallana, Venerable Sariputta's mother also hated and hated the Buddha and the Sangha. The older she got, the more she hated it, especially now that even her youngest child, that little hope, was drawn to the Sangha, becoming a disciple of the recluse Gotama: "And Therefore, even though she had seven children, all of whom had attained Sainthood, Mrs. Sàri still did not believe in the Three Jewels, still despised the Buddha and the Sangha. still put blind faith in their old pagan religion. That's why she always cursed the Sangha and the recluse Gotama." We can easily sympathize with the suffering as well as the sentiments of this old mother, all seven smart, beautiful children... so many dreams, pride, and expectations about our children all gradually melted away. smoke clouds. Now, she is almost a hundred years old, but no longer has a child by her side. She looked at everything very bleak, even the fortune "money from the forest and the sea" means nothing, only copper and dust. Looking at the big old house, the vast fields and gardens, made her even more lonely. Both the servants, the servants, or the numerous and famous relatives, are also synonymous with emptiness and suffering... how can they compare to the dear children that come out of their own intestines. Have long, Venerable Sariputta wanted to save his mother in faith with the peaceful Dharma, but the predestined conditions had not yet come so he could not be saved. At that time, Venerable Sàriputta was eighty years old, Venerable observed that his cause and condition for survival was about to end, and the cause and effect of saving his mother had come. He immediately went to pay respects to the Buddha to return to Nirvana in his hometown and save his mother. The World-Honored One approved, the Venerable said goodbye to the assembly and led 500 bhikkhus to his homeland. On the way back to his old village, the Venerable met his grandson and told him to inform her (his mother) that: Venerable Sariputta has returned and asked to stay in the old room when he greeted him. life. The grandson was overjoyed and rushed to report the news. Although Mrs. Sàri hated the Sangha very much and was very angry with her eldest son, her love for her son never dried up. She changed her anger to entertain the Sangha. That night, in the same room as when he was born, the Venerable displayed cholera to enter Nirvana and save his mother. At that time, there was his attendant, Sadi Quan Tou, who was serving, going in and out with pots in hand. Mrs. Sàri was very concerned about her eldest son, but still stood outside the Venerable's room to observe. At that time, the Four Great Heavenly Kings, Emperor Thich (God's Lord of the Dao Loi Heaven), Great Brahma Heavenly King, and all the gods, by their divine power, knew that the Venerable Master was ill and was about to enter Nirvana. With majesty, divine power and brilliant aura, they in turn appeared in the room to pay respects and ask to serve the Venerable, the Arahant, the Great Disciple of the World-Honored One for the last time... for the whole room. and the garden where Venerable Sàriputta was in was bright. But he refused them all and they bowed down to the venerable one in turn and returned to the original country. By his divine power, Venerable Sariputta showed his mother the whole miraculous visit. After the gods had gone, Mrs. Sàri hurried into the venerable's room to inquire about those gods. The Venerable explained slowly which gods they were, how they protected the Dharma, served the Buddha during his birth, asked the Blessed One to turn the Dharma wheel at the beginning of his enlightenment, etc. … After hearing it, deeply in awe, she did not expect her son to be so noble that even the noble gods, even to the Great Brahma, Brahma (the highest and most supreme god, but also her family's family as well. as she herself has always admired, worshiped and prayed for hundreds of years) is just a servant of her son, a disciple of the Blessed One. In her mind Sàri arose faith, thinking: "If my son's might is like that, how great is the boundless power of my son's Guru!" With unprecedented respect, and at the same time listening to a short lecture on the merits of the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha by Venerable Sariputta, the entire continent of Sàri was shaken, her supreme belief in the Buddha and her son. his greatness, as well as about the Three Jewels. Endless joy and peace arise to every hairline, she has attained Tu-da-complete status, officially entered the Holy Order, will surely reach liberation and peace. Too touched, Mrs. Sàri exclaimed to the Venerable: "Hey, my dear son! O Lord Upatissa, why have you not, all these years, bestowed upon me this immortal knowledge?" With the utmost sincerity, Ms. Sàri took refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, becoming one of the most faithful lay disciples. Venerable Sariputta was able to save his mother in such wonderful circumstances. 12. Entering Nirvana: Nearly forty-five years of preaching the law of uncompromising benefits, at that time, the venerable Sariputta was 80 years old, his four-element body was like a rotten car about to be damaged. He realized that his karmic transformation was nearing completion. After a period of meditation, the Venerable learned that the tradition of the Great Disciples of the Buddhas in the past always entered Nirvana before their Master, and his life span was about to end, only in seven more days until the day of Nirvana. And he also realized that the fate of his mother had come, the place to enter Nirvana was his hometown, in the old room where he had appeared in the world. After leaving the meditation, the venerable went to the Great Hall to pay homage to the Blessed One and to present his wish to enter Nirvana, the Blessed One promised. The venerable paid homage to the Blessed One with the most respectful words: "Oh! What can a disciple say when saying goodbye to a great man who is super-taunted? It is thanks to him that disciples step out of the abyss of suffering to follow in his liberation footsteps. From here, disciples will no longer wander aimlessly, back and forth between the realms of birth and death… So the eternal burden has been let go. Disciple will be completely liberated, not a single speck of defilement will exist. That grace belongs to the Master, millions of years can't be reciprocated... Since entering the teaching of immortality, disciples have learned to live a useful life, know how to serve, and know how to promote and grow fully the qualities. human beauty. Therefore, how many sentient beings have been separated from suffering, how many gods and human beings have tasted the taste of miracles! Now, The disciple enters Nirvana with a mind of complete serenity and contentment. May the Blessed One allow me to rest, for this chariot of the body has come to decay. For the disciples to be worshiped once again, on behalf of sentient beings to be grateful to the Supreme Enlightened One!" The Blessed One was extremely moved, waiting for the venerable one to finish paying respects, he asked the venerable one to give the public a period of dharma to teach, to urge the bhikkhus to practice diligently before leaving, leaving forever. . Obeying the Buddha, the Venerable stepped up to a Dharma throne below the Blessed One, sat dignified, and began to preach the last Dharma time to the assembly: "The Dharma time is like the endless whispering of the wind, like the distant ocean tides. blind ocean ... Having mastered all three Tripitakas, Venerable Sariputra went from the most sublime dharmas, down to the closest and most simple dharmas. As large as it is boundless, it is small enough to hold the head of a mustard seed. And finally, That upward path, that door of immortality, is only walking, standing, lying down, wearing clothes, eating, sweeping the room, revering the elders, being aware, gentle, quiet, peaceful, pure, inner. A pure mind free of afflictions…!” Stepping down from the throne, the Venerable looked at the dear crowd and paid his respects to the Master for the last time, in the Venerable's heart, the memories from countless eons returned: "This moment, in the space-time-- I don't know how many hundreds of thousands of aeons have passed, when I knelt at the feet of Buddha Anomadassi and made a vow to meet this Tathagata again? That wish is now completely fulfilled. The first meeting with Him was the biggest event for us. And this is the last meeting, I admire Him, so that there will be no more opportunities later." With infinite gratitude, After paying homage to the Blessed One and the assembly, retreating step by step, the Venerable set out to fulfill that last vow. The Blessed One quietly said to the assembly: "Go away! Let's go see off your great brother!" And he quietly entered the room and closed the door. The whole crowd was shocked and moved to tears, the Upasakas and the Upasakas cried endlessly, the Saha world shook in six ways, the water in the four seas rose, the whole floor clouds, the whole space also fluctuates unceasingly, everything is as sad as a mourning towel to send the feet of the Great Disciple, Arahant, and Perfectly Enlightened One to go home and never return. The earth seemed to stop spinning to utter a lament: “Oh! O great and transcendent embodiments! Although my body can withstand the horizontal slashes of big and small rivers. Though my body can carry, the burden of the mighty Meru, the lofty Cakkavāla and the cloudless Hymavantu-king of the mountains! However, I couldn't stand this day, a day when Morality, Concentration, and Tue Virtue and countless other noble qualities of human beings gather in this auditorium of Ky Vien Vihara!" Venerable Sariputta walked away. Next to him were attendants, novice Quan Tou, behind him were five hundred bhikkhus, his disciples, and then hundreds and thousands of other elder bhikkhus. Until hundreds, thousands of male lay people, female lay people and people in the city of Sa-vat the same time to see off the Venerable in the sadness, sadness, attachment, lamentation... not wanting to return. The roads seem to be covered with the yellow robes of the monks, everywhere the venerable one passes is a forest of people covered, they are attached, lamented, sad and suffering... The false religion had to stop many times to advise on the impermanence, gathering, and destruction of all things, of human life... And advised them not to cry and mourn anymore, they had to do so many times. restrained, pushed back tears, in the end only Sadi Quan Tou and five hundred Bhikkhu-stilts accompanied him back to his homeland. The journey from Sāvatthi to his homeland took place exactly one week. During that journey, the Venerable and the delegation stayed overnight at places where lay people welcomed them. During this trip, the Venerable also gave a sermon, bestowing liberating graces on many predestined people right on the way back to the old country. When the delegation arrived at Nàlakà one afternoon, stopping by a banyan tree near the village gate, the Venerable met his nephew, after the grandson finished paying homage to him, The Venerable asked the grandson to go back to tell her (his mother) that the Venerable was on his way back home and asked her to clean the room in which he was born so that he could live and also asked her to arrange a place for five hundred bhikkhus. stilts to go with him. The Venerable Delegation came home right at the moment when the sunset was falling, the whole universe was as sad as a mourning towel. At that time, the venerable one entered the room in the old days, his whole body ached with infinite pain, he contracted cholera, displayed an illness to enter Nirvana, the novice monk served the venerable, all night in and out constantly with the potty in hand. Dai Brahma, the heavenly lord, Emperor Thich, the Four Great Heavenly Kings, etc., along with thousands of celestial beings, radiating light illuminating both the garden and the house of Mrs. Sàri, together they came to visit and ask to serve the venerable Master for the last time. But the Venerable rejected them all and thanked them deeply; He told them that his attendants had done that and advised them not to worry or be sad because he instructed them to show their sickness and enter Nirvana, and allow them to return to their native land. Obeying the Venerable, they sadly silently bowed to the Venerable and disappeared. Witnessing that wonderful scene, Ms. Sàri, the false teacher's mother, has witnessed the Holy Fruit of Tu-da-huan (published in the issue of Falun No. 9). After saving his mother, he realized that the cause and effect of this earthly world had been completed. Now that it was the fifth watch, it was almost morning, he asked the attendant to lead him into the large living room of the house and gathered all the monks. After sitting down, the bhikkhus had gathered enough, and he slowly said to the bhikkhus: "Brothers, for forty-four years, the poor have lived and traveled together to propagate the religion with you. , if the poor person has an unsatisfactory behavior or word, Please forgive me, brothers." All the bhikkhus were deeply moved and answered in unison: "Don't say that, but feel sorry for us. Oh! Indeed, there is not even a grudge as small as a speck of dust between You and us! To us, You are the spotless Mani pearl, the moon, and the sun in the sky! Even if he is gone, his shadow is gone, his immortal and great footprints are still there. We vow to follow in that footsteps and engrave your image in our hearts. The opposite must be said: may you gladly pardon our mistakes!" With a faint smile on his lips, through a weak voice, the venerable exhorted the monks to diligently practice and propagate the Dharma, always taking the Buddha as a lamp of wisdom to light the way. take the Dharma as a guideline to purify the body and mind towards the wharf and always rely on the monks to make solid armor to overcome all difficulties in life... After his heartfelt instructions, he told the monks back out. In the huge living room, only the attendant and three Arahant elders: Ano-la-da, Ly-ba-da, and Cunda were standing next to them. He lay down on his right side, straightened his legs, lying in the right posture of the lion king, then he concentrated his mind on the first jhana, the second jhana, the third jhana, the fourth jhana, entering the realm of boundless space, the land of boundless consciousness. , the base of no possession, the base of neither perception nor non-perception, and entering the cessation of perception and life. From the cessation of life and thought concentration, he returned to the first jhāna… and up to the fourth jhāna, going deep into the perfect perfect concentration towards Nirvana. When the sun appeared on the horizon, he had completely entered eternal Nirvana, reach a state where there is no residue of any attachment to suffering. That day was the full moon of the month of Kattika, according to the solar calendar, October 15. Through wisdom eye, the elder Ananda knew that the Venerable had completely entered Nirvana, so he informed all the Bhikkhus. -Should know. His mother, Mrs. Sàri, when she heard the news, was very surprised and lost consciousness. After regaining consciousness, she was extremely remorseful because she had never done anything to serve the Three Jewels. She sent servants to open all the treasures to make offerings to the monks and set up the largest and most solemn cremation ceremony ever seen. A great pyre made of precious spices, fragrant wood, agarwood... with thousands of fragrant flowers, wonderful incense and thousands of banners, banners... are arranged everywhere. Hundreds and thousands of bhikkhus were moved, teary-eyed in the sound of prayers; resounding resounding throughout an area. Hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands of ascetics, male lay people, female lay people, ministers, recluses, brahmins, etc., to the people in the village and neighboring villages, all gathered together. Attending the great ceremony of the Buddha's body-vehicle. The fire rose high, illuminating the whole sky, the fragrance resounded far to the villages. After the ceremony, the Elders Bhikkhu-stilts collected the relics, put them in a square of filter cloth, handed them over to the novice monk Quan Tou, and together invited the relics to present to the World-Honored One. Receiving a square cloth wrapped with the relics of venerable Sariputta from the novice monk, at the Great Hall full of monks, the Blessed One placed the relics on his left hand and said: "Hey, teachers Monks!
