BENEFITS OF BENEFITS AND KEEPING THE GENDER. THE BENEFITS OF BENEFITS OF BENEFITS AND KEEPING GENDER II. INTRODUCTION A. Part of Dependent Origination: In the past, the Buddha preached the Dharma for 49 years for more than three hundred years, the meaning was profound, hidden, and mysterious. But do not pass through the three gates of no smuggling. That is the path: "Precept-Concentration-Wisdom". Why? Because if you keep the precepts, the mind will have concentration, and if the mind is concentrated, then wisdom will arise. Thus, we affirm that precepts are the main basis for following the stream of liberation, and the path to becoming a Buddha is also from here. The Buddha's Mind and Earth Sutra teaches: "Those who keep the precepts even if they leave home for just one day and night, they will have two hundred thousand kalpas without falling into evil beasts. That person is often born in a leisurely setting, enjoys outstanding blessings, often meets good knowledge, will never turn back, often meets the Buddhas predicted by the Buddha, sits on the vajra throne and becomes a Great Enlightened One. Therefore, the ancients used to say: “The precepts have the function of being like a treasure raft to carry people through the ocean of suffering, and the precepts are the gateway to Nirvana. So in the ten sects of Buddhism, no matter which sect we practice, we must take precepts as our teacher. Therefore, it is impossible for those who want to obtain happy results and eliminate the seeds of suffering without keeping the pure precepts. The Buddha's Great Nirvana Sutra teaches: "The precept is the ladder of all good dharmas, and the root of all good dharmas: just as the great earth fruit is the root of all arising herbs. Precept is a supreme guru of the wholesome roots: the supreme master who leads the merchants. Precept is the victory field of all kusala dharmas: like the victory field of Thien Di Thich. Precepts are the function of permanently eliminating all negative karma and the three evil paths, like medicinal herbs that have the ability to treat all kinds of evil diseases. Precepts are personal wages on the dangerous road of birth and death, precepts are bronze armor, is the magic rod that destroys the evil god of fetters. Precepts are a divine mantra that eradicates poisonous snakes of affliction. Precepts are the bridge to overcome evil karma.” Thus, we affirm that: No matter what method we practice: or Meditation, Pure Land, Secret Mantra, etc., regardless of the affliction or the truth, for the Buddha's precepts, we must be wise. character determines the life span of the practitioner. If you can't keep the precepts strictly, all the hard work can't be accomplished. As in the Tomb of the Buddha, once taught: "If you want to cook sand, you can't get it." Right here, the meditator must experience it for himself, do not talk in vain, until the illness is severe, the views and understandings only learn for a lifetime how to save the coming impermanence! We must know that King Yama does not respect anyone, even though we are well-versed in the Tripitaka. v… They don't care if they don't test the precepts. Zen Master Quy Son taught: “One day, when I was seriously ill in bed, everything was painful and oppressive. Early in the evening, I think about it, and my heart is filled with fear. The road before was hazy and didn't know where to go, now I know how to repent, wait for the thirst to dig a well? Hate myself early for not worrying about cultivation, when old age many sins. When he was about to leave life, life quickly disintegrated, in terror and terror. Like a net through a bird, the mind follows karma. Like a debtor, whoever is strong pulls first, there are many problems in his heart, where the weight falls somewhere." Thus, we clearly see, from above, from the Buddhas and below the Patriarchs, they all teach us when we are still healthy to push our body and mind to cultivate virtue. But the first thing here is how to develop the power of concentration and wisdom? But if you don't keep the precepts dignified, how can concentration and wisdom arise? In the Nirvana Sutra, the Buddha said: "If you don't keep the precepts, how can you attain Buddhahood? All sentient beings, even though they have Buddha-nature, must rely on them to uphold the precepts. Only then will the Buddha-nature manifest itself, and when we see the Buddha-nature, we will realize enlightenment." B. The Nature and Precepts of the Precepts: In general, there are many precepts, but not outside of two subjects: "Just upholding and maintaining". 1) Precepts: is to stop, to stop doing evil, that is to prescribe precepts, which are precepts belonging to only maintaining. But the nature of the only maintenance is two: the first is to prevent to stay away from crimes, such as forbidding alcohol... because it can commit other serious crimes such as: drinking and getting drunk can lead to murder (murder). )… adultery (rape women). The second is to completely ban the following: killing, stealing, adultery, lying, drinking, smoking, smoking drugs because they are evil in nature. 2) Author: is practicing good, ie doing good things, that is, stipulating the dharmas, which is the law of the author. For example, practicing the 10 precepts is: "Just upholding" keeping the precepts, increasing the good mind, is "Collaborating". It should be said that the precept is: "Prevention of evil" means stopping evil in body, mouth, and mind. But in the above two parts of Maintenance and Authorship, the most important thing is "The World". Because the world is "No-karma", that is, the power of attention is always active when we keep the precepts. The power to have this world is when we take the vow to uphold the Buddha's precepts, with a sincere heart improvising from the non-conceptual nature. Such, The world body is a living force when we come into contact with the scene in everyday life, it has a perfect function, when we are about to release the lustful mind. Thus, we want to be peaceful and happy, free from the cycle of human life, we do not dream far away, but in this real land, we are always aware of body, speech, idea. In the Ahamma Buddha Sutra it is said: "O monks! There is a person who thinks good thoughts in the morning, speaks good words with his mouth, and does good deeds with his body. He has a peaceful and happy morning. Hey Monks! There is a person who thinks good thoughts at noon, speaks good words with his mouth, and does good deeds with his body. He has a peaceful and happy afternoon. Hey Monks! There is a person who thinks good thoughts in the afternoon, speaks good words with his mouth, and does good deeds with his body. He has a peaceful and happy afternoon.” Through this passage, we clearly see that the Buddha did not teach anything sublime and mysterious, but only taught a morning of good thoughts... This is the secret to the path, the gateway to the path of " Precepts-Concentration-Wisdom". Why? Because when we are not awake, it is easy to arouse evil thoughts, but having raised evil thoughts, we always seek to harm this person, harm others. But these seeds of evil dharma it does not lose, but it accumulates enough causes and conditions to create evil, but once created, it is difficult to keep the precepts. And we always think of good things, do good things with our bodies, and speak good words with our mouths, then this seed of kusala accumulates and grows. From there, we enter the life in the midst of this mundane world, which spontaneously emerges and preserves the dharma-body, the life-and-death for us. This is the truth! Since we observe in the community of practitioners who harms this person, the other person sooner or later violates the precepts of the Buddha. Science now also proves how reciprocal when a meditator interacts! 1. A grain of rice sprouted in the ten directions. 2. The pebble flicked into the ocean, the four seas shook. 3. The butterfly flapping its wings in the South makes a storm in the West. 4. If there are bad phenomena in the sky, that country is about to have a war. The Buddha said: "The reason for getting the 32 good marks is none other than the observance of the precepts. If you didn't observe the precepts before, you can't even try to be a lowly person now, let alone a great person." Thus, we clearly see that the Buddha taught that if you want to be in the form of a great person, you should always strictly and completely maintain the pure precepts, and first practice the method of "Happiness". Rejoice is a magical remedy when we are still on the path of elaborate practice. For example, when we see that person preaching the Dharma well, saving a lot of people, we should be happy to support the condition, not to hinder it. Why? Because while we are happy to support the condition, we are increasing the seed of bodhichitta. And we are jealous, jealous, selfish... the retribution is hard to predict. When we hinder a teacher from preaching the Dharma to Buddhists because of the need to "hear the Dharma" in the literature, the evil dharma increases while the good dharma decreases. Sometimes, due to the hidden jealousy and selfishness, we can't reflect, so we start to think of slandering the Mahayana method, thinking that it is not the Buddha who said it, and inciting those who listen to the Dharma to not believe in it. It is the sin of "Incessant hell", the meditator must be careful about this point! In the Sutra of the Laws of Non-action, it is written: "In the past, there was a magician named Majestic, specializes in the study of Theravada dharma, does not believe in the Mahayana dharma, but also has a mind of blasphemy, saying that the Mahayana dharma is not taught by the Buddha. Because of that evil karma, after giving up his body, he fell into the great hell, after many lifetimes, he had to experience suffering results. When he came out of hell, he was reborn in the human world, but he was blind. If you are not blind, you will be reborn in a house of wrong views, you will not have the conditions to be close to the Three Jewels to hear the Dharma." II. Do Zen practitioners need to strictly maintain the precepts? As we have shown in the previous paragraph, any practitioner of any dharma takes precepts as his teacher, and respects dharma precepts as the eyeballs. What's more, the meditator is even more strict about the dharma precepts. Why? Because in my own experience, if one day, if you break a small precept, such as correcting them without fulfilling them, When you come back to meditate at night, the mind is always regretful and agitated, not to mention breaking the precepts of killing, religion, sexual immorality, and hope. As a meditator, you should carefully reflect on this point! Otherwise, I would have come to the treasure mountain and collected all stones. Best regards! Best regards! As the Maitreya Sutra, the Buddha taught: "Bhikkhus, you! After I have passed away, you must respect and respect the Brahmanka (the precepts) like a dark night encountering light, like a poor man meeting treasure. You should know that this dharma is your teacher, even if I stay in the world, it will not be different from this dharma.” In this passage, the Buddha talked about the power of the dharma precepts, the Buddha entices those who cherish the dharma precepts and keep the dharma precepts, just like the dark encounters the light, like the poor find treasure. Judging from the teachings of the Buddha, is it too much? Yes no! Why? Because according to our own experience, every day we keep the Dharma precepts completely, that day even if gold and silver coins are broken, it is meaningless to us. Indeed! A person who keeps the dharma precepts for the rest of his life, even though his present life is lacking in material things, for them is to reap invaluable wealth, for them the wealth is the dharma precepts that are supreme. , and worldly wealth is just an illusion that is there and gone. Like a person who cares about fame all his life, brothers and sisters, even though they are satisfied with their craving for fame and gain, are just mere fame. present, without clearly seeing the real world. This person, when entering the temple, they do not meet the great sage who opens their eyes, if they do, they just leave it out of their ears, because their nature is full of worldly seeds, seeds of greed and hatred... Therefore, the Buddhas and Patriarchs often remind us: to consider fame and gain like torn sandals. As Zen master Dao Giai said: "Enlightenment, enlightenment and color, is like a high stone of talent, Kien Loi, and knowledge of fame is like a middle eye before class. Meaning: Enlightenment is like growing flowers on a rock, seeing profit, seeing fame is like dust in the eye. Because for practitioners in the sect, they must have "Prajna" eyes, otherwise "Zen" will not be, and precepts are also empty. Therefore, the sages of the past were very cautious in teaching their disciples. First, they must examine the Vinaya Pitaka thoroughly, and then it makes sense to listen to the Dharma for meditation! Today it is different. Going to the temple early in the day, working as an official in the morning, try asking where did the dharma precepts come from? How can it be absorbed? Meanwhile, the seeds of greed, hatred, delusion, selfishness, envy, jealousy ... are too many, but have never sat down to contemplate, then try to ask how not to fall into the place of worldly sensuality. Therefore, the Great Wisdom Doctrine says: "If anyone wants to seek great benefit, he must first adhere to the precepts like precious jewels, like preserving his own life, because precepts are the abode of all kusala dhammas." So should a meditator strictly observe the precepts or not? Not only strictly adhere to the pure precepts, but also respect the precepts of the Dharma like the eyeballs, like the treasure boat carrying people across the river. Why? Because any cultivator who has mastered the Vinaya and practices the Bhikkhuni body, on the outside, exudes a model of majesty and majesty, inside, the three poisons do not arise, try to ask who dares to say that a person who practices meditation dares to give up the precepts. ? “Once upon a time, there was a monk named Te Tang Vien, who stayed at the Tiet pagoda in Luong Chau, and was associated with playboys and did not keep the rules of conduct. One night in a dream, a god came to scold him: "You are a monk, Why do you do such evil things, take a look at your face in the mirror!" Waking up, the monk came to the puddle, saw a black streak in his eye, thought it was a stain, wiped it with his hand. Who expected his eyelashes to fall out, he was terrified, from which he blamed himself and sincerely repented. The monk often wore bad clothes, wore torn shoes, ate one meal a day, repented early in the evening and cried profusely. More than a month later, he dreamed again that the god of the previous day had a smiling face and said to the teacher: "Knowing that mistakes can be corrected, that is a wise person. Now we forgive him!". The monk was both scared and happy, sweat poured all over his body, and his eyes grew back. The Master personally experienced the two retributions, believing that the cause and effect of the three lifetimes was not false. Since then, wholeheartedly serving the Dharma, never retreating. After that he became a famous monk". Therefore, Great Master Tri Huc said: "The Tathagata, with his profound knowledge, created the precepts for sentient beings all over the great universe. The Six Groups of Bhikkhus are all great Bodhisattvas who appear, putting themselves in the form of sentient beings in the end of the Dharma, so they create causes and conditions to break the precepts. It is because of human nature that is lazy, does not keep the precepts of respect and contempt, that makes the Buddha's right Dharma degenerate. Now, if you want to propagate the sect and preach the teachings, you must take the precepts as the root. Those who have strict precepts, the righteous people inside are kind, and the outer dependents are self-sufficient, and a part of the white halo is bright in the general, definitely not a vain talk. If we consider the precepts to be minor details, that means blasphemy against the Dharma. People like that, preaching about Buddhism, preaching about religion are all useless things. If any external influences are obtained, they are all demonic karma of no benefit to the Dharma.” Thus, if one clearly sees the importance of the precepts, there are no limits, For example, a person who strictly observes the dharma precepts, they do not dare to do evil, they do not dare to think evil, over time this seed of good dharma grows and grows, so the righteous person inside is calm, the external conditions are self-fulfilling. enough, because good medical report is good news. A person's whole life they always think evil, do evil in body, even though they can escape from others, but they can't escape from themselves, over time the seeds of evil dharma grow and grow, so there is no evil. they dare not do. This person, although they live with enough material things to be considered comfortable, but they are living right on hell: the hell of greed, hatred, delusion, envy, selfishness... In the great monasteries, if we are not clever inner transformation, it is also easy to get lost in this stinky mud. Therefore, as disciples of the Buddha we must more or less awaken to this point. Think about it! Even though we are billionaires we eat two meals a day, even if we are poor we eat two meals. But in the process of making people reflect, have I harmed anyone? Is there any help for Tam Bao? The ancients practiced cultivation much differently than us, they only specialized in cultivating, cultivating the dharma and virtue, so after leaving this sambhogakaya, it is a lifetime to do a rare thing in human life. . Therefore, they passed away very peacefully. What about us? During a lifetime of specializing in calculating the path of fame, plotting to harm people, try to ask which Buddha came to save? This is just the growth of knowledge and knowledge of demonic karma, and Buddhism is thousands of miles away. So, Zen master Lai Guo said: "The king of heaven, Dai Tu Ta Ma Vuong, came to the Buddha and said, "If you're still in the world, I certainly won't be able to destroy your Dharma, but when you pass away about 500 years later, My demon king, will lead ghost children and female ghosts to the Dharma-ending age to lead monks to return to the world, or to live with monks who are ordained, outside of the appearance of the Sangha, inside, holding the worldly mind, lay people speak the bhikkhu Dharma. listen, the bhikkhu listens to the sutras wearing secular clothes as a monk's robe. On the contrary, lay people wear monastic robes as their robes. He then made a vow: This Lai Fruit knelt down to pray to the monks in this world, please protect the Buddha's rules tightly, don't let the devil's scheme change the white color into discolored clothes, change the broken dharma to protect the dharma. Please kneel down and ask the Venerable Masters right here to make an oath to practice and teach the people who practice with you to wear a worn-out robe, eat raw rice for a while, make Tung Lam as your home, take the precepts as your practice, and teach them. For Buddhists is a career, luxury is a daily life. Again vow: to uphold the righteous Dharma of the Tathagata and to observe the precepts of the Buddha, where the body does not carry a single white thread, where the mouth often talks about preserving the Buddha's precepts, where the mind is not beautiful in the white robe. Those are the three pure karmas, which are the true Buddhists." Through the passage of Mr. Lai Kuo earnestly presented, about the tragedy of the life of meditators in the Dharma-ending age. So, we have to reflect on ourselves, is this the case? Yes yes! Why? Because when they first entered the temple to study religion, everyone was worried about cultivating the dharma precepts and focusing on the three karmas. But for a long time because of the remnants of the seeds of gas, fame, and fortune, we only remember fame and fortune and money, so try to ask if the precepts are still respected? The three karmas are still pressing? Right here, yogis must boldly let go of body and mind, cut off the seeds of greed and hatred left in the mind, and focus on the dharma, with one heart. sacrificing oneself to seek the way is the main thing, while other things are secondary, right in this body of the five aggregates immediately turns into the golden body of the Buddha's staff and six, stirs the long river into a bowl of happiness for sentient beings, and transforms the saha world into a world. Pure Land. Aren't you so happy! Right here, writers who have lost themselves for the sake of religion must maturely contemplate! Therefore, in the book Trung Tri Ni The Essential Meaning, Great Master Tri Huc said: There are 3 levels of Great Root of Precepts: 1. The first level: strictly upholding the pure precepts as a model in the three realms, like them: Tue Vien, Tri Qua, Ta Khe, Giac Pham, Cao Phong, Trung Phong, So Thach... Mr. Giac Pham doesn't eat out of time. Mr. Trung Phong wears only one robe in winter and summer. Mr. Cao Phong lived a very austere life. He built a pole of firewood to make a hut. In the winter and summer, he wore only a shirt patched with 100 pieces. food in the time of pounding pine trees mixed with flour and used instead of rice… Using clams as a pot, all day long, eating a midday meal. 2. Level two: living in the Dharma-ending life, in a reluctant situation, obeying the Buddha's commandment, but omitting the subtle precepts, staying at the temple during the time of plowing and cultivating, receiving them during the time of land reclamation. . But as for not eating out of time… they still fully comply. In Bach Truong Thanh Quy, the evening meal is called a cure for illness, but not a porridge meal, it is only said to be taking medicine out of time, medicine for seven days, medicine for life only. 3. The third level: is the location of using means, considering the benefits and opportunities, breaking doubts for people, so don't cling to the principles that are often applied. Like Manjushri Bodhisattva holding a sword against Buddha, three places destroy. In Chi Nguyet Luc, it is recorded: "In the Linh Son Assembly, there are 500 bhikkhus who have attained the fourth jhāna concentration, enough five supernatural powers but have not attained the Fa eye. Each person who uses the supernatural power of life, finds himself killing his father, harming his mother and committing serious crimes. Therefore, each person in his mind doubts himself, so it is impossible to enter into the profound Dharma. At that time, Manjushri inherited the Buddha's divine power, holding a sharp sword to oppress the Tathagata. The Blessed One said to Manjushri: "Stop! Stop! Do not harm Me by committing the five crimes. But if you are determined to harm Me, you must skillfully damage My ego. Manjushri Master Loi! You have never had a self (I and you), just because you see a self within. When the mind does not arise, the ego must die, which is called harming my self-grasping." Therefore, 500 bhikkhus realize for themselves the nature of mind as dream-like. In an illusory dream, there is no self, until the birth of birth, parents, are like illusory dreams, there is no self. Then 500 bhikkhus also spoke in verse of praise, saying: Manjushri, the great wisdom, Understanding the bottom of the dharma, Holding a sharp sword in his hand, Forcing the body of the Tathagata Sword, so is the Buddha. One sign has no two. There are no signs and no birth. Where can it be said to kill the Self? sin". Three places to break down: "On the day of the release of Tu Tu (self-examination), because Mr. Van Thu entered the summer in three places, Mr. Ca Diep wanted to kick the bell (ringing the bell) out. As soon as he held the awl, he saw 100,000 billion billions of Manjushri, Ca Diep used all his divine power but still could not raise the awl. The Blessed One then asked Kassapa: "Which Manjushri do you want to drive out?" Kashyap can't answer." Therefore, people who practice meditation need to strictly observe the pure precepts, who dares to say: "Those who practice meditation are not arrogant and polite." If we think that: the ancients could eat meat and drink wine, then we can do it as long as the mind is not attached. Here we listen to the warning of Zen Master Vinh Minh Dien Tho: There is nothing special about the door of private study. Just clean the ceiling, let go of all the seeds of karma from beginningless kalpas up to now. Please eliminate your thoughts, end your hopelessness. To all the worldly states of craving, the mind is like a stone. Even if the eye of the path is not clear, it will naturally achieve a pure body. If you meet a true guru, you must be close with all your heart. Assuming meditation is not thoroughly understood, the study has not been completed, once it has passed the ear, then always do the same. Eternal life does not fall into the evil path, life does not lose human body. Just born, one hears a thousand enlightenment. It must be believed that the righteous knowledge of the Way is a great cause and effect in human beings, or teaching sentient beings to see the Buddha-nature. Alas, the end of the world talking nonsense, a meditation is only learning concave but not completely understand; step by step say yes, every word say no. No wonder I was led by karma to teach people to reject cause and effect. Moreover, it is said that drinking wine, eating meat is not afraid of Bodhi; stealing, engaging in sex is not afraid of Prajna. When he lived, he was allowed by the king, when he died, he fell into Abhi prison, and suffered karma in hell. When he ends up in hell, he falls back into the realm of hungry ghosts and animals for hundreds of kalpas, and there is no deadline for escaping. Unless a flashback immediately turns evil into right. If you don't repent and cultivate yourself, even if Buddhas are born, you won't be able to save him. If you cut the heart and liver like cutting wood and stone, then you can eat meat. If drinking alcohol is like eating feces and drinking urine, then you can drink alcohol. If you see decent boys and girls who also look like corpses, then you can do prostitution; If you treat your wealth as your own as soil, you can steal it. Though, he trained his mind to this place (the land of the heart where the truth is), but he still can't agree to his will! If you haven't been able to realize the immeasurable body of the old Saint so earnestly expressed, is there any other mind? Because of the Dharma-ending age of monks and nuns, it is rare to keep the forbidden precepts; only because they tend to be good at the worldly people, but most of them have retreated from the heart, so they practice widely and protect themselves. Thousand Sutras have said, thousands of Commentaries have been presented. If you don't get rid of the lustful mind, that is the end of wisdom like; if you don't give up stealing, that is the end of the good and good seeds; If you don't give up eating meat, you will end up with compassion. All the Buddhas of the three generations said with one mouth: Zen Buddhism in the world, one word has been expressed. How did the back-to-school people ignore it? Self-destruction of righteous humanity, on the contrary, act according to the word of the ghost! Just because of the same karma that has existed for many generations, just born to meet evil teachers, so the good power is easy to digest. but the evil roots are difficult to uproot, where can we see the way of the ancient saints anymore? Seeing a thing that is like a thousand arrows stuck in the heart; hearing a ghost word is like a thousand prongs in the ear; please get away from here! Don't hear it anymore! You have to save your own mind, being careful not to be lazy. III. CAPACITY OF SERIOUSLY PRIVACY PRINCIPLES: If a cultivator follows the Buddha's teachings, closes himself in the framework of the dignified posture, adorns himself with the Buddha's dharma precepts, then this person has a real power. mighty. 1. Be in front of the congregation without fear. 2. If not liberated, death will certainly be born in heaven. 3. Being a pedagogical level for heaven and people 4. Reverend ghosts and gods. 5. The mind is stable in life as well as in death… The Ananda Sutra of Buddha Cat Hung says: “The virtue of virtue causes natural blessings to come, angels support and touch the 10 directions. Compared with the virtues of the gods, the virtues of the virtues are so high that the saints praise them and cannot be measured. A wise man who achieves his destiny, even if he loses his life or loses his body, does not follow evil. If he knows the Buddha's teachings well, he can attain the Way beyond the world." People with dharma precepts are naturally victorious. Why? Because sowing victory, reaping holy results, this is natural. But few people in life accept it. When he was young, he was free to create evil karma, when his karma was so difficult to escape, he lamented the heavens and blamed the earth, but if the karma was sown, the karma will be reaped. The ancients said, "How can a curved shape be straight"? Therefore, if you are a person who has emerged from the world, you should believe and accept the words of the Buddha. One thought released will create karma, one thought will return to the light, then Nirvana will be present. Those who keep all the precepts, the angels support and move them to the 10 directions, is this too much? Yes no! Why? Because people who keep the precepts, their minds are calm and their minds are clear. The reason we fall into the category of hungry ghosts and animals is because we attract mixed karma: insatiable greed, envy, selfishness, jealousy, greed... so it makes sense for the Buddha to teach cultivators to keep the pure precepts. Because the body and mind strictly uphold the pure precepts, for a long time we no longer feel the desire to arise. In the past, the reason they kept the pure precepts completely was because they made great vows, even if they lost their lives, they had to comply. Therefore, the path of karma is easy to achieve, the truth is often easy to come by, what about us? Do you dare to practice like the old people? To Quy Son taught: "There is also a man, I am also a man". Be thoughtful in contemplating the words of the Patriarch. Therefore, Zen master Hu Van said: "First of all, you must keep the precepts. Precepts are the root of the fruit of Unsurpassed Bodhi, the human precepts give birth to concentration, the causes of concentration generate wisdom, If you don't keep the precepts, you can't practice." In the Tombstone Sutra, it clearly teaches the four pure dishes, teaching us that: "If you don't keep the precepts but cultivate right concentration, you can't escape from the ceiling, even if you have a lot of wisdom in the present, you will also fall into the evil spirits of the outside world." . It is important to know that keeping precepts is important, people who keep the precepts are supported by Long Thien, those who are feared by foreign ghosts, those who break precepts, and demons call them a great enemy, it sweeps away one's footprints. As we all know, Zen Master Hu Van is a modern Grandmaster, a respected person in the sect, who always encourages monks, nuns, and Buddhists to always strictly uphold the pure precepts of the Buddhas. Why? Because he saw very clearly that if one cultivates right concentration without remembering the barrier of precepts, right concentration cannot arise. Thus the precepts have a great power to bring people from ordinary to holy, from delusion to enlightenment, From suffering to joy... So National Master Thanh Luong taught: "Whoever relies on the Law to practice is called the Upper World Sangha to become self-sufficient, surely Buddhahood will be attained." Thus, by means of good fortune in the past life, today we are blessed to receive the precepts of the Buddha. So why don't we strictly observe the pure precepts? Let's ask the question again! If this tomorrow creates bad karma to attract feelings into the type of hungry ghosts, animals... will you be able to accept the legal precepts? Right here, yogis have to be elated, have stepped on the real ground, then they have to go to the destination once. Some people think that in this life, how to cultivate to enlightenment like the old Patriarchs, in my opinion, it is not necessary to wait until the time of enlightenment to be dignified and disciplined to show the respectful person, but right here the righteous practitioner. The concept of collecting the six roots is also worthy of respect from heaven and earth. As Zen Master Tho Suong said: "If in this life there are people who practice according to the law, they should respect them like Buddhas, and serve them according to the Dharma." Therefore, with respect to the Buddha's precepts, if anyone diligently practices it, he will surely get the ultimate result. But in this life, few people take the trouble to accept the dharma precepts, think of it as a minor detail, and then indulge in the five sensual pleasures, but they don't comment carefully because they keep the dharma precepts strictly, but from their body, speech, and mind, they are righteous. Why? Because the Buddha's precepts are like medicine or cure diseases; greed, hatred, delusion, conceit, doubt, evil view... So why don't we keep it. It is like a person who goes into the deep sea to look for treasure, but without using a large boat and tools, can he get the treasure? Right here the meditator must mature contemplation! So the Flower Adornment Sutra, the Buddha taught: "The precept is a medicine that can cure afflictions, like a parent helping a child through suffering, a bridge across the river of birth and death, a lamp illuminating the dark night of delusion. IV. MEDITATION AND GENDER. Sutras are the words of Buddha. Meditation is the mind of Buddha. Precepts are the conduct of the Buddha. Zen Master Duy Khoan said: “Unsurpassed Bodhi is the law of the body, that is Dharma when speaking in the mouth, and meditation in the mind. The application has three, in the end only one. For example, the Ho river, Hoai river, and Han river, depending on the place of naming, have different names, but the nature of water is not two." As a practitioner in the sect, if you are a clairvoyant, who dares to ignore this point! Why? Because of the four positions, if we are always aware, the Buddha's conduct covers our whole body, right here in our mind without a single thought, then the Buddha's precepts cover our whole body, right here we know all of them: birds. chirping, crickets crowing, wind blowing, clouds flying... without a single thought of searching for the past, present, In the future, the meditation mind of the Buddha will cover our whole body. Thus, craving dares to say: "Zen and precepts are not the same". The ancients only taught learners, aiming to progress on a pedagogical basis, if the learners worked hard to sharpen their karma in the four positions, the place would be a place of effective use for the practitioner. When eating, washing dishes, washing clothes... are all righteous acts of becoming a Buddha. "A monk came to ask Zen Master Tieu Nham: - The scriptures say: "The Buddhas were born because of a great cause and condition", may I ask the Venerable Master what is the great cause and effect? The Master replied: - Dressing, eating, defecation, urinating. The monk did not accept it, did not pay homage, and went out. The Master called back and said the verse: "The Buddhas are out of position Only the great man of the predestined A Thi Tinh discharges the urinary tract. The mundane slugs the item of emergency money the Humanity instructs and directs the good. The Buddhas appeared only because of great predestined defecation and defecation. Hunger to eat, tired to sleep. In the immediate future, He just wanted to go to heaven, and talked about miracles. Sin committed and lost money. As we all know clearly in the Lotus Sutra it says: "Because of a great cause and effect, the Buddha appeared in the world, in order to enlighten sentient beings to enter and see the Buddha". Here, this monk brought him out to ask the Zen master. But he was extremely disappointed. Because Zen Master answered questions and owls that are very common things in life: eating, wearing clothes, defecating, urinating... But he did not expect that it was the secret to entering the Way, the gateway of Nirvana, is the eye of countless Buddhas, is the path of morality, concentration, and wisdom. This monk is our representative! When we first step into the way, we rarely reflect on the precepts of the Buddha. only worry about one side of the mind to seek magical meaning, but in fact, in the heart is empty but arrogant, fame and profit are full, the doctrinal majesty is not even a little! The tribute is arrogant, the precepts are not square. This is from the beginning of the religion, aiming at the wrong target, but all day long, only worrying about the two words "Eat and drink". For a long time, there is a lot of greedy karma, but too little good karma, so everything from manners to words is mundane. We live like that! Then try to ask when dying, what to resist? Therefore, To Quy Son said: "The road ahead is hazy, I don't know where to go!" Go back to hell, hungry ghosts, animals... don't go anywhere! "Sowing impermanent causes, reaping permanent results". This reason how to get. The ancients said: Heaven has no human being, Hell has no door, has no visitor. This is talking about the good path that the Buddha had outlined and refused to go. but only towards the evil way down, who made this mistake? They are all created by their own greed for fame and gain, until the bad karma is too much, they will take the result of suffering, don't blame anyone! Alas! People in the world know one but don't know ten, only know the happiness of the present, but do not understand the future, so this is the problem. Miserable! Miserable! Therefore, Zen Master Lai Qua said: "A word of precepts that not only monks and nuns have to practice every day, can't leave for a moment, but even everyone in the world can't temporarily leave. What happen? Household people have precepts to gamble, smoke, commit adultery, cheat.. As a monk, we have received the three great precepts properly, 10 of the novices, 250 of the bhikkhus, 10 of the 48 precepts of the bodhisattva. If you keep the precepts carefully, even one word will not be missed. If you don't violate it, it's not great, you have to go from precepts into samadhi, by samadhi to develop wisdom, break stupidity, open wisdom, build the Dharma field, and establish a sect, that's the great merit of precepts." V. The Virtue of Keeping the Pure World: As we all know, for the Buddhist spirit, giving and making offerings is called "Blessed Virtue". And the practice from the self-nature of the dharmakaya is called "merit". Like the story between the First Patriarch Dat Ma and King Luong Vo De, for example: "The king asked the Patriarch: - Since I ascended the throne, I have often built pagodas and copied the longitude of monks and nuns, I don't know how much, so is there any merit? The group replied: - All have no merit. – Why is there no merit? - Because these things are human and smuggled, there is only small retribution in the human realm and heaven, like a shadow in the picture, although it is not real. - What is true merit? - The mind is pure and round, and the body is not quiet, such merit is not sought by the world. In this passage we see that the Patriarch said very clearly, this is only meritorious virtue, not merit. Today, there are people who mistakenly believe that making offerings printed in the Sutras on alms-giving is merit, and then commit crimes of greed, hatred, and delusion. But for the Buddhist spirit, even if we build ten thousand temples, our mind is still in the heart. We are full of greed, hatred, delusion, envy, jealousy... the public also has, the sin still carries. For example, in the West, there are dogs that are better than humans in poverty, but although they are happy, their bodies are in the form of animals, so why not ask? Because in human life, although it is almsgiving and offerings, sin is still created. Nowadays there are people who deal in poker and drugs... But they are afraid of sin, so they give alms and offerings... So it's clear that people's faces but their hearts, they have harmed countless families who are living peacefully and happily. become suffering, then the next life will definitely become an animal! There are people who, even though they have the appearance of a monk, but the precepts are not complete, they will surely fall into the abyss of suffering in the sea of suffering. Therefore, the Sixth Patriarch said a verse: "Those who are addicted to cultivating blessings do not practice the Way. Just saying that cultivating merit is the Way of giving alms and offering boundless blessings. In our minds, those who have created thoughts and desires to cultivate blessings in order to eliminate sins will be blessed with blessings and sins in the future. still". As in Cao Tang Di Truyen, it is recorded: "One day Master Thap Dac brought his buffalo out and called out the name of the previous Sangha, the buffalo immediately responded and passed. Thap Dac said: - The previous life did not uphold the precepts, the human face but the animal heart. You've made this mistake now, do you resent people? Although the Buddha's power is great, you are grateful to the Buddha." Thus, preserving the precepts of the Buddha's ancestors is merit in itself, and giving... is just a blessing. But we need to pay attention to this point, there are people who don't kill, steal, commit adultery... but get caught up in the crime of "false speech", the crimes of killing, steal… then follow. Why? Because even though he didn't kill people, he said cruel words, or didn't say yes or said no... making his fellow initiates emotional, sometimes profane, and turning their mind on the path of seeking the truth, this is a sin. guilty of murder is no different! As a Buddhist, one must maturely reflect on this point. Therefore, it makes sense that the Buddha's spirit of keeping the precepts increases the perception of merit! In the Maitreya Sutra, the Buddha taught: "Therefore, bhikkhus must keep the pure precepts, and do not cause harm. If a person keeps the pure precepts, he or she will get good dharmas; if he doesn't keep the pure precepts, all good deeds will not be born. Because this is to know that precepts are the most secure place for meritorious deeds.” Thus, the Buddhas and the great Bodhisattvas encourage us to always strictly observe the pure precepts in order to increase kusala dharma. For a person whose mind is ashamed of evil, then his body is dignified, his words can teach people. These are all due to the merit of keeping the pure precepts. Therefore, the ancients, regardless of their circumstances, always took the dharma precepts seriously, even if they lost their lives, they still adhered to the dharma precepts. As the story in the Great Law records: "In the past, in the country of Anda, there was a monk Thieu Duc Bhikkhu who sent a young novice monk to a house of pure faith to receive food. At that time, the whole family went to the festival, leaving only a 16-year-old girl, with a righteous face, but burned by the fire of lust, and knelt down to the novice monk, saying, "My family has immeasurable treasures, you are satisfied. As the master of this house, I will provide and serve.” The novice monk thought, "I would rather die than break the precepts". Immediately he entered the room, closed the door, knelt down, folded his hands, made a vow, bit his finger, and wrote on the wall with blood a verse like this: "Disciple does not abandon the Three Jewels of Right Precepts, vow to be born in a quiet home, free from delusion, achieve the fruit of the path," vows to hang himself and die. The king in the country received or received praise like never before, so he came to do the ceremony, brought the body of the novice monk and put it on the treasure cart. The king used all kinds of offerings, mixed with fragrant firewood, and burned solemnly." Therefore, in the Bao Tich Sutra, the Buddha taught: "Even if you build a pagoda, a tower full of seven treasures, and rise to the heavens of the Thirty-Three Heavens, it is not as good as one day of sitting still, observing the noble precepts, pure and noble, being the first to make offerings to the Blessed One. Lai". Through this passage, we have a look at the dharma precepts. The Buddha gave an example of an offering, even though it was so large that it filled the entire Three Thousand Great Thousand Worlds, it was not comparable to a person who simply sat down and strictly observed the pure precepts. This is natural! Why? For an introvert returns to the source of the Dharmakaya. Therefore, in the treatise on Dai Tri Do, it is said: “Though poor people keep the precepts, than the rich people break the precepts. The scent of flowers, the scent of trees can't fly far, the scent of precepts flies all over the 10 directions. People who uphold the precepts, enjoy full peace and happiness, are known from afar, are loved and respected by the gods, and enjoy all kinds of pleasures in the present life. If you want to be reborn in the heavens and the human realms, it is not difficult to get rich and live a long life. Those who keep the precepts are pure, they get whatever they want. Again, people who observe the precepts are often worshiped and offered by these people. They are happy with no regrets, there is no shortage of clothes, they die, they are reborn in heaven, and after they realize the Buddha Way. Those who uphold the precepts have nothing to gain, those who break the precepts lose everything. Again, people who observe the precepts see the sins of those who break the precepts, so they exert themselves, single-mindedly upholding the precepts. What is the sin of a precept-breaker? Some people break the precepts, others don't respect, his house is like an empty tomb, no one comes. Again, People who break the precepts often embrace fear, like people with serious illnesses, often afraid of death. Just like a person who commits the five crimes, the mind often thinks to itself: I am the enemy of the Buddha, hiding and hiding, just like the enemy is afraid of people. Again, a person who breaks the precepts is diligent among them like a weak young man in the midst of a strong man. Again, a precept-breaker is like a broken boat that cannot be carried across a river. Countless crimes of breaking the precepts like that, can not be counted. Practitioners should practice single-mindedly.” (Excerpt from Dai Tri Do Commentary, volume 1, Bodhisattva Nagarjuna said).
