The meaning of the saying: 'The only self is unique' During the Buddha's birthday season, on the altars, the image of the Buddha as a newborn walking on 7 lotus flowers and the slogan "Heaven in the world - Only self is unique". Accordingly, this declaration slogan is automatically considered to be the most popular and commonly used Buddhist language > How to bathe the Buddha correctly in Buddha's birthday 1. The only self-respecting and Northern Buddhism Today, in During the Buddha's birthday season, on the altars, the image of the Buddha as a newborn walking on 7 lotus flowers and the slogan "Heaven in the world - Only self is unique". Accordingly, this declaration slogan is automatically considered as the most popular and popular Buddhist language. However, when looking up the Sutras, most of the canonical Chinese texts rarely (or do not) use "only self-exclusive - " but mainly "only self respect - ", such as: 1) In the Sutra of Tu Ban Khoi, Q1 - TTCTT, T3, pp. 463C, the following verse for Buddha's birthday is written: "Heavenly in the world, the only self-respecting person // Three Realms of Suffering, Ngo Dang An Chi" - meaning: In heaven and under heaven, only the enlightened one is precious. // All three realms are suffering, enlightenment will make sentient beings peaceful. 2) In the Thai Tu Thuy Ung Ban Khoi Sutra, q1, TTC, T3, p. 473C, the following verse for Buddha's birthday is written: "Heavenly under heaven, only self respects respect. The three worlds of hardship and suffering?" – means: In heaven and under heaven, only the enlightened one is precious // All three realms are suffering, who can bring peace? "Heavenly under the heavens, only self-respecting // Three realms of suffering, peace of mind" - meaning: In heaven and under heaven, only the enlightened ones are precious // All three realms of suffering, enlightenment will make sentient beings peaceful. Which hand did the Buddha's birthday point to the sky? 3) In the Sutra of Primordial Origin - Truong A with function Q1, there is a verse for the following Buddha's birthday celebration: "Heavenly in the world, the only self respecting religion // Weakness to save sentient beings, birth, old age, sickness and death" - has Meaning: In heaven and under heaven, only the enlightened one is precious. // The essential thing is to help sentient beings take the initiative in birth, old age, sickness and death. - The only word 唯 here means only, only, synonymous with the word poison 獨. In the Dharma Master of Merit 法師功德 of the Lotus Sutra, it is written: "Only single-mindedly self-aware, Yu Ren has no opinion" 唯獨自明了, 餘人所不見. - Only I can see clearly, others cannot see. - The word "self" here means ta, I, tao, which is explained as not carrying the meaning of the Hindu philosophy of the Great Self or the Small Self, nor is it meant to criticize people's self-grass, for virtue The Buddha has already attained and attained the wisdom of Not-Self. Therefore, This self is a pronoun in the first person, because the Buddha pointed to himself, but throughout his life, the Buddha still followed the conventions of the world, calling himself when communicating with people. The word "self" is also distinguished as follows: + Ego (妄我; E: Illusory ego), has the same synonyms as Ego, Self-grasping. + True Self, (眞我; E: Nirvana ego) is synonymous with No-self, manifesting the equal dharmakaya in Northern Buddhism or equal dependent origination in Southern Buddhism. - The word vi 為 here means (verb). Like "failure is the mother of success - 失敗為成功之母 - failure is the mother of success". Thus, both the terms "unique and unique" in meaning are not very different, but the phrase "single and unique" is commonly used today and is considered by researchers as may be due to the influence of the spirit of the story. As for the last two sentences of the verse of the birth, there are many differences in terms of text, content and meaning. This abundance is considered to honor and praise the rarity and victory of the Buddha's birth; so depending on each scripture that there is a different verse, every verse is correct (if quoted correctly). In addition, there is not a single verse that falls under the "most accurate" category. "Heavenly and heavenly, only self-respecting. The three worlds of hardship and suffering?" – means: In heaven and under heaven, only the enlightened one is precious // All three realms are suffering, who can bring peace? Simple deeds to accumulate merit during the Buddha's birthday season 2. Sole Proprietorship 唯我獨尊 and Southern Buddhism in the School of Sutras, volume I, page 139, D.II,65, Chaṭṭha Saṅgāyana CD ( CSCD) published by the Vipassana Research Institute, it is recorded that: As soon as he was born, Bodhisattva Siddhattha did not mention any gods or external forces, he boldly declared: "Aggo ahaṃ asmi lokassa, Jeṭṭho ahaṃ asmi lokassa, Seṭṭho ahaṃ asmi lokassa, Ayaṃ antima jāti, Natthi dāni punabbhavo.” There are two ways of interpreting translation: Being yourself is the world's supreme, yourself being the world's supreme, and yourself being the world's supreme. This is the last birth, From now on there will be no more I am the supreme of the world, I am the supreme of the world, I am the supreme of the world. This is the last birth, From now on, there will be no more birth. There are two explanations: 1. "Self" or "I" here does not mean the Self, but the Pure Mind (Pabhassara Citta) described by the Buddha in the Sangha Sutra: "This mind, bhikkhus, is luminous. And this mind is polluted by defilements from the outside in. Ordinary people rarely listen, do not know that mind as it really is. (Pabhassaram'idaṃ bhikkhave cittaṃ tañca kho āgantukehi upakkilesehi upakkiliṭṭhaṃ. Taṃ assutavā puthujjano yathābhūtaṃ nappanājāti.) This mind, monks, is luminous. And this mind is cleansed of defilements from the outside in. The noble disciple hears a lot, knows that mind as it really is” (Pabhassaram idaṃ bhikkhave cittaṃ tañca kho āgantukehi upakkilesehi vippamuttaṃ Taṃ sutavā ariyasāvako yathābhūtaṃ pajānāti). 2. "Self" or "I" here does not mean the Self, but according to the Minor, is the Clear Awareness "no birth, no existence, no action, no success". The ego always has the ambition to create efforts to become an ideal person or a certain Saint… What year was the Buddha born? "Heavenly in the world, only self-respecting // Weakness of sentient beings, birth, old age, sickness and death" - meaning: Under heaven, under heaven, only where the enlightened one is precious // The essential thing is to help sentient beings take the initiative in birth, old age, sickness and death. Therefore, each person only needs to return to observing Dependent Origination in his own Body, Feeling, Mind, and Dharma, and should not imitate anyone else's Dharma. Before the Buddha was born, almost all religions at that time had the ideal of obtaining outside things, which Zen Buddhism called "outward seeking for the mystical", so the Buddha's first statement was to return to yourself. , for all truth is there. And after attaining Right Fruition, again in the Dhammapada, verse 160, the Buddha declared: "Attāhi attano nātho Ko hi nātho parosiyā Attanā and sudantena Nāthaṃ labhati dullabhaṃ" This is another refuge. By skillfully taming oneself, it is difficult to gain support.” (I am My refuge, no one else is my refuge, return to the pure self, which is a rare refuge) According to researchers, such as monk Vien Minh, for example, the origin of the "unique self" is a translation from a verse of the Truong Bo Sutra. above. Buddha's birthday - the source of happiness "Heaven in the world - Unique self" is understood as "Under heaven and under heaven - Only truth and morality in the enlightened person are precious above all". In Buddhism, the method for easy enlightenment is "Being one's own island" in the midst of suffering and depression, or "Lighting the torch on your own" in the midst of darkness and ignorance. Therefore, it is the duty of a practitioner to stop looking outside, but to find the Pure Mind or Clear Awareness (Pabhassara Citta) from the truth of Dependent Origination. The Buddha taught practitioners should return to observe Dependent Origination in Body, Feeling, Mind, One's own Dharma in the practice of Vipassana meditation, to see and know them as they are... That is wisdom. In fact, the enlightened person is the one who sees the true nature of life, should not have a dualistic attitude of clinging, nor be too extroverted to seek illusions for ego or wishful thinking. Ambition or the will of the ego is always wandering around creating to become ... something other than oneself, which is ignorance, greed, hatred, and delusion, which only leads people to suffering. For example, the story "The stone chisel" below gives us a good example of this self-indulgent artifact: There is a stonecutter who, because of his hard work, is always dissatisfied with himself. One day, he saw a king passing by in a palanquin, accompanied by his servants, very majestic and leisurely. What a powerful man that everyone admired. He thought, "Oh, I wish I could be king!" Strangely enough, as soon as he thought about it, he was instantly transformed into a king. Being king, he roamed the mountains to enjoy the pleasures of the world, but then the sultry summer came and the sun shone unbearably hot. "So the king is not as powerful as the sun, I wish I could be the sun!" So he was able to be the sun as his dream. Becoming the sun, he showed his power, radiating countless rays of sunlight on all living things with pride and pride. But because of too much sunlight, the water vapor rises into clouds, blocking the sun. So he wished to be a cloud again and it was granted. Clouds try to cover up the sun, so the air changes without conditioning, creating wind, and it is the wind that blows the clouds away. Remembrance of Buddha's Birthday The ego has always had the ambition of trying to create an ideal person or a certain Saint. He wished he were the wind, and when he was done, he tried his best to cheer the universe. to show off his invincible power. He gloated that he could blow whatever he wanted, but when he blew on the rocky mountain, the mountain was still motionless. He thought, "Wow, it's mighty to be a rock," so he turned into a rock. Despite the wind, rain, cold, he stood so majestically, firmly... But soon he heard a sharp pain in his feet, looked down and saw the stone chisher hammering sledgehammers at his leg, which was painful but he couldn't do it. nothing, just cherish the battle. "The stone chisels are so powerful, if only I were him" - he thought as soon as he saw himself returning to work as a stone chisel in the past. 3. ordained to become the Enlightened-Liberated One. Therefore, we can see that, in reality, the Crown Prince was born as normal as many other newborn babies, and thus would not be able to speak at birth. So, we may ask, why is that verse mentioned in the sutras? From what era? What does it mean? And there is also the question of the contradiction between history and philosophy. The Buddha's birthday speech PL.2564 - DL.2020 of the Most Venerable Chairman of the Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha "Single and Unique" is probably intended for a certain symbolic symbolic meaning rather than historical value. The "exclusive solipsism" is probably meant to have some philosophical symbolic meaning rather than historical value. Therefore, "Single and Unique" could have been added in one of the following two cases: - First, after the great enlightenment of the Buddha, honored by contemporaries and fabricated that sublime event. - Second, after the Buddha's Nirvana, the disciples edited the scriptures, in order to enhance the personality of a great man, it must be different from ordinary people in the world.END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).WORLD VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST ORDER=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN =THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.9/5/2022.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH.
