It takes an average of five days for a person to start having symptoms of a corona virus infection, scientists have finally confirmed.
Covid-19, which can cause fever, cough and shortness of breath, has spread globally and infected more than 100,000 people.

A team of US scientists analyzed virus infections in China and other countries to understand the disease, and they made a discovery:
Most people infected with the virus show symptoms after five days.
People who have no symptoms until the 12th day will usually have no symptoms afterwards, but they can still carry the virus.
Researchers advise those who are likely to be infected, whether they have symptoms or not, to quarantine themselves for 14 days to avoid infecting others.
If they follow this advice, it is estimated that for every 100 people who are isolated in two weeks, only one of these people may have symptoms after the isolation ends , the  Annals of Internal Medicine  said.
The research leader, Professor Justin Lessler, from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, said the results of the study are the 'fastest' reviews we have made, based on 181 virus infections.
But he said we still have a lot to learn about this virus.
It is not clear how many people have had all the symptoms in general. The above study does not evaluate this.
Experts believe that most people infected with the virus will only develop a mild illness. Some people will have no symptoms, ie carry the virus, but not show symptoms.
But it can be serious and even fatal for some people, especially older people who already have health problems.
Professor Jonathan Ball, an expert in molecular virus at Nottingham University, said that this study showed that for the vast majority of infections, incubation and isolation times will last up to 14 days.

And, encouragingly: "There is little even no evidence that people can infect the virus in the asymptomatic phase."
Anyway, the best way to protect yourself and avoid infection is:
  • Avoid close contact with unwell people
  • Avoid touching your eyes and nose with your hands before washing your hands
  • Cover your mouth with a tissue when you cough and sneeze, then throw the tissue in the wastebasket and wash your hands
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water.END=GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.23/3/2020.
